How to Find an Auspicious Date/ Day.

Many of us are flummoxed  when we want to fix an auspicious Day for a function, like shifting of House(Gruhapravesa,Marriages,Religious ceremonies,Bhumsavana,Sreemanta,Nama Karana .

We try to find a Vadyar or a Pandit and it becomes difficult to find them.

At times some of them provide us with contradictory information.

Finding an auspicious Date the Hindu/Indian way is very easy .

Buy a Panchangam’Almanac, Vaakya or Enkanitha.

Do not have both, one is likely to get confused.

If you have your Horoscope ,it is fine or forget it.

In the Panchanga, Auspicious Days are marked, as Subha Muhurtangal.

They are good for any function, but for Bhumsavana /Upanayana  separate parameters are available, which I will explain.

How to find Auspicious Dates other Dates mentioned in Subha Muhurthanga Marriage ,any new endeavor, joining duty and other auspicious occasions?

Avoid Rahu Kaala and YamaKanda.( This is available in the Panchanga and Daily Calendar)

Look up the English Month and date in the Panchanga.

You will find Thithi( waxing and Waning of the Moon-from New Moon to Full Moon is called Sukla Paksha, which is auspicious; Full Moon to New Moon is Krishna Paksha is inauspicious-Avoid Dates falling in Krishna Paksha).

Avoid Ashtami and Navami Thithis.

Next is Yoga.

There are three yogas mentioned.( do not be confused with the Spiritual Yoga being practiced).

They are Amirtha Yoga,Siddha Yoga and Marana Yoga.

Avoid Marana Yoga.

Amirtha is best,Siddha is next Best.

You will also find Amirtha-Siddha Yoga.

This is also permitted.

All Nakshatras are permitted.

Horais.

Just like a day has its specialities, each hour of the day also has its own specialities.

Originally each 24 hour day was split into 60 naazhigais, each 24 minutes long. Thus two and a half nazhigais constitute one modern hour which was known as horai (hora) in ancient times.

We have Soorya horai, Chandra horai, Angaaraka horai, Budha horai, Guru horai, Sukra horai and Sani horai times during each day.

Sukra Horai is Ideal.

How to calculate Horai.

( A Naazhigai is 24 minutes).

For Details of Hindu Time explanation for Muhurtham etc, read my blog-TIME-non-linear Theory.

For calculation of the Day have the Sun Rise Details for your City/Country and arrive at the Horai.

All days are good.

However in certain families, people avoid Tuesday and Saturdays.

Follow what your Family practice is.

That’s all you have ,you have an auspicious date.

For Gruhapravesa.( House Warming Ceremony)

Thithis acceptable.

Dwithiyai,Thruthiyaiyai,Panchami,sapthami, Dasami,Ekadasi,and Thryodasi.

Acceptable Nakshatras.

Rohini,Mrigaseerisham,Punarpoosam,Poosam,Utram,HasthamAnusham,Uthradam,

Thiruvonam,Sadhayam, Uthirattadhi.

Months to avoid.

Aani,Purattasi,Maargazhi and Punguni.

For very accurate days you need to match it with your wife’s Nakshatra.

You can have the Details in the Panchanga.

For Bhumsavana.

4/6/8 Month of Conception.

Days Acceptable.

Monday,Wednesday,Thursday and Friday.

All Good Thithis are ok.

Nakshatras.

Aswini,Rohini,Punarvasu,Poosam,Uthiram Hastham,Chittirai,Swathi,Uthraadam,Thiruvonam,Avittam

and Uthirattathi.

This blog is to give an introduction.

You have all the details in the Panchanga.

All you need is to spend about 15 Minutes.

Sir with due respect, I have seen in panchanga where it shows on 15 there is moola nakshatra, so you sujesting that date for new born. Somebody says moola nakshatra is inaspecious. Could you please clarify sir. Because my wife is also undergoing to c-section , doctor told to select your whished date between 14th to 20th of November 2015. Please sujesting me sir

      2. ramanan50 Avatar

Ideally operation dates are to be fixed during Krishna Paksha, waning of the Moon. But medical emergencies have to be considered as well.So to fix a date between 14th and 20th(this period is Krishna Paksha) I ahve to consider the medical situation and and offer best dates,I will not suggest a date which runs against medical exigencies,I take into consideration yoga as well along with Nakshatra. On fifteenth Moola Nakshatra is upto 7.30pm.In my opinion Moola,is not an inauspicious nakshatra as It is Lord Hanuman’s Nakshatra. There are some who consider this as inauspicious.>If you feel slightly uncomfortable with this date , choose other dates if I have mentioned them.Otherwise please let me know. The health of the mother is more important to me than dates in medical cases.
