  • Rig Veda Speed Of Light Precise Than Modern Science

I have my son’s friend, who is also my friend, is in Australia(most of my son’s friends are my friends too< despite two decades difference in Ages).

On Reading one of my posts on the predictions of Hinduism especially n regard to Technology, he remarked,

“We have a habit of saying, after a New Thought in Modern Science has been brought forth, we say that it is already there in Hinduism and never say

that before the discovery of new theories and if we are serious about our heritage, we should say what all have been said in our texts much before the

    present day findings.

I replied that  agree and the reason people do nt know about our findings s that we do no read our texts and some of our thoughts look outrageous ,

especially on Astrophysics, Time, we tend to call them as Fantasies!

Also that one of the purposes of Ramanis’ blog is to post as much information as I know on these subjects.

There is also another accusation about Hinduism that People interpolate facts in the ancient texts and say that the modern findings are found in our

    texts.

Untrue; wherever possible I have been provoking texts to prove that there is no interpolation.

I am posting now on the Speed of Light as found in the Rig Veda.

This s also doubted that there is an interpolation.

    I shall disprove this.

“Sayana ,Sāyaṇācārya  1315- 1387) was an important commentator on the Vedas. He flourished under King Bukka I and his successor Harihara II,

in the Vijayanagar Empire of South India.

He was the son of Māyaṇa, and the pupil of Vishnu Sarvajna and of Samkarananda.

More than a hundred works are attributed to him, among which are commentaries on nearly all parts of the Veda; some were carried out by his pupils, and some were written in conjunction with his brother Mādhava or Vidyāraṇya-svāmin

    .

Hs works were edited by Max Mueller.

Whale commenting on The Rig Veda, Sayana explains about the Speed/Velocity of Light’

    Regarding Speed of Light:

There are 2 quotes. I will try to reproduce as given in the book:

    taraNirvishvadarshato jyotiShk^Ridasi sUrya | vishvamAbhAsi rochanam |

Oh Sun! (You) overwhelm all in speed, visible to all, source of light. (You) shine pervading the Universe.

tathA cha smaryata yojanAnAM sahasram dve dve shate dve cha yojane | ekena nimiShArdhena kramamANa namo&stu te ||

It is remembered (that) Salutations to Thee (sun), the traveller of 2.202 yojanas in half a nimiSha.

    Source:

    Rg-veda-samhitA, maNDalam 1, sUktam 50, mantraH 4 (6000 DCE) sAyanAchArya’s commentary (14th century AD)

“tatha ca smaryate yojananam. sahasre dve dve sate dve ca yojane ekena nimishardhena kramaman”
    तथा च स्मर्यते योजनानां सहस्त्रं द्वे द्वे शते द्वे च योजने एकेन निमिषार्धेन क्रममाण नमोऽस्तुते॥
“[O Sun,] bow to you, you who traverse 2,202 yojanas in half a nimesha.”.
    Explaining this,
Vartak in his Scientific Knowledge in the Vedas (1995, p. 95).[3]

    • 1 yojana is said to comprise either 4 or 8 krosha (a cry or shout, or the range of the voice in calling); and 1 krosha (or goruta ~ as far as a cow’s lowing may be heard, or a bull’s roar) may represent either 1000 or 2000 daNDa (a rod or staff), and 1 danda represents 1 pauruSa (a man’s length) which equals 1 dhanvantara (bow-string) or dhanu (bow). 1 yojana measures either 4,000 or (more likely) 8,000 dhanus. Assuming that 1 paurusha is 6 ft long, then 1 yojana must represent a distance of about 14.6 km (or about 9 miles, as suggested by Monier-Williams).
    • nimesa means shutting the eye or winking, and as a measure of time it is a wink of the eye or a moment. The Arthashastra (c. 300 BC) defines 1 nimesa as 1/360,000th of a day and night, i.e. 0.24 seconds.
    • Given that 1 yojana is between 14.6 and 16.4 km, 2,202 yojanas must represent between 32,149 and 36,113 km. Half a nimesha is 0.12 seconds. Sayana thus gives the “speed of the Sun” as between 267,910 and 300,940 km/sec, i.e. the same order of magnitude as the speed of light at 299,792 km/sec.”(wiki)

    . The units are well-known.

For example, the Indian epic “Mahabharata”, conservatively dated to 400 BC – 400 AD, defines 1 nimesha to be equal to 16/75.3 seconds; 1 yojana is about 9 miles.

This is the same as Modern Science on the Speed of Light: in fact more precise !

There s objection to this that Sayana says this about the movement of the Sun and not Light.

My point is that Hinduism speaks in allegories.

If they were speaking directly then with so much of calculations they would not be saying that the Sun has Seven Horses, which are the colors of

    Light, VIBGYOR.

The Sun is an allegory for Light Energy( At the same time a Personal God,  shall be posting later on this)

So Sayana was referring to Light.

What are the chances of Interpolations/Fraud?

Substituting in Sayana’s statement we get 186,536 miles per second. Unbelievable, you’d say! It cannot be the speed of light.

Maybe it refers to the speed of the sun in its supposed orbit around the earth.

But that places the orbit of the sun at a distance of over 2,550 million miles.

The correct value is only 93 million miles and until the time of Roemer the distance to the sun used to be taken to be less than 4 million miles. This interpretation takes us nowhere.

What about the possibility of fraud? Sayana’s statement was printed in 1890 in the famous edition of Rigveda edited by Max Muller, the German Sanskritist.

He claimed to have used several three or four hundred year old manuscripts of Sayana’s commentary, written much before the time of Roemer.

Is it possible that Muller was duped by an Indian correspondent who slipped in the line about the speed? Unlikely, because Sayana’s commentary is so well known that an interpolation would have been long discovered.

And soon after Muller’s “Rigveda” was published, someone would have claimed that it contained this particular “secret” knowledge.

The fact that the speed in the text corresponds to the speed of light was pointed out only recently by S.S. De and P.V. Vartak.

Also a copy of Sayana’s manuscript, dated 1395 AD, is available.

Further support for the genuineness of the figure in the ancient book comes from another old book, the Vayu Purana.

This is one of the earliest Puranas, considered to be at least 1,500 years old. (The same reference is to be found in the other Puranas as well.)

In Chapter 50 of this book, there is the statement that the sun moves 3.15 million yojanas in 48 minutes.

This corresponds to about 10,000 miles per second if considered as speed of light, and 135 million miles for the distance to the sun,

if considered as the speed of the sun. Sayana’s speed of light is exactly 18 times greater than this speed of the sun! Mere numerology?

For the rationalists these numbers are a coincidence.

Given the significance of these numbers, they’d look very carefully at the old manuscripts of Sayana’s commentary.

  • Consumers Help Line Akosha A Fraud?

    Update 18/05.2015.

I had a call from a lady from Akosha , about one/two months back informing me that the management of Akosha has changed and that the present management is sorting out the issues and whether I could do anything about my post.

I replied that I have no grudge against anyone .that I would be happy to publish their stand if they could send me details and incorporate that into the Post.

An email was also received. the same day.

It was great connecting with you today – thanks for taking out the time to talk. As I mentioned, Akosha has come a long way since your blog post in March, 2014.

We are here to simply better the customer experience, and hope to make lives hassle-free and convenient. To give you a closer view of our journey, let me tell you that we have now created our app which is downloadable from the Google Play store. The following is the clarification , action being taken by them in this regard and I am reproducing the Text, which also appears as a comment  in this Post.

    This has been received today.

    “Dear SKSAKASH,
We really regret that we acted so callously on your complaint. We just messed up. Although we can’t give you your time back, we would still like to do our best to help you out. Unfortunately, we are not able to locate your Akosha ticket based on the details you have given on this post. Thus, we request you to share your Akosha ticket number with us or fill this form out so that we can identify your ticket: http://bit.ly/akoshacares. Post that, one of our senior team members will give you a call to help you out.
Despite the fact that we try our best to resolve complaints, we are not able to do that for all. Here is a Quora post by our founder which will explain the constraints that we face and what we are doing to overcome them: http://www.quora.com/Is-Akosha-actually-able-to-resolve-consumer-complaints/answer/Ankur-Singla-8.
    Hope you’ll understand.

    Akosha.

An email was also received to day.

This is in continuation of our conversation today. I hope you have had the chance to read the email I had sent earlier, describing Akosha‘s journey.
To add to that, it would indeed be very helpful if you could publish our side of the story as well. Here is what we have to say:
Akosha has come a long way since your blog post in March, 2014.
Today, Akosha works with more than 5000 brands in India and has handled more than 25 lakh customer service issues and has been able to get a major portion of them resolved.
Since the very nature of the task of resolving consumer complaints is pretty challenging (and perhaps that is why no one else is doing what we are trying to do), we are not able to resolve all the complaints that we work on and we are very open in communicating that to our customers. We pledge to help our customers with the case to the best of our ability but can’t give a guarantee that we’ll be able to resolve it (http://www.akosha.com/besteffort) and if the customer is really dissatisfied and the concern is genuine, we are okay with refunding the money that customer paid us.
Our current resolution rate is 61%. Although it’s not as close to what we hope for, we’re working really hard, day and night, to get better. And our hope is that the readers of this blog would also understand that and give us another chance to help them out.
In case anyone has any queries, they can send an email to support@akosha.comand we’ll do our best to help out.
    Regards
    Online Team
    Akosha
I hope you feel convinced this time about how our services have improved and grown. Please feel free to call me if you’d like to know some more.
    The original Post.

    I accidentally bumped into a site http://www.akosha.com.

It states that it would help you resolve your complaints against Companies and  the site’s Home Page says thus,

We help consumer in getting resolution to their complaints from brands across India.

    Will The Complaint Be Resolved?

    2

What happens of the complaint is not resolved?

    3

If after all our efforts your complaint remains unresolved then we would provide you documents with which you can file complaint in consumer court.

FILE COMPLAINT ON PHONE: CALL US @ 91-91-9266603254″

It also provides an Online Complaint form.

But curiously it does not talk about any charges.”

In Life, there is nothing that is called Free Lunch.

    I investigated..

    AKOSHA is a Fraud ..

I have given the complaint related to Country vacations to AKOSHA ..These people are similar to those people with false promises.

Initially i was reluctant to pay AKOSHA ..but one month these people are calling me to pay the fee to them so that they will resolve within one month ..but now its been more than a month ..now THEY HAVE GIVEN UP and not even REFUNDING My money ..as they display in their website.
Complete LOSS of my money ..one to country vacation and then to AKOSHA.
GUYS ..DONT BELIEVE THIS MEDIATORS .. DO FIGHT YOURSELF by complaining or in consumer court.

After wasting my time with AKOSHA ..now i need to get up and fight for Country vacations and AKOSHA to get my money back”

Akosha is just a fraud site. They have tie ups with companies so that they will never resolve issue and you end up paying it to Akosha service. Which utlimately is no use. They never pickup ur calls and never help you
    On Akosha,
Singla looked around for help and all he found was people with similar experiences who had nowhere to go. Singla, then 27, quickly sensed a business opportunity and launched Akosha in January 2011.

Akosha’s basic services are free, but it charges between Rs 299 and Rs 1,499 from customers who wish to further escalate their complaints and seek legal assistance. The customer is charged according to the nature of his or her complaint and the size of the disputed amount.

“Most customers approach us after having tried their hand with the company’s customer care executives,” says Singla. “We take up these complaints directly with the marketing departments and higher-ups in the brands.”

For paid customers, if the issue is still unresolved, Akosha goes one step further. Its employees launch a social media campaign against the target company. Akosha’s Twitter handle tweets complainant’ sproblems on the social media, an area where leading brands and service providers try their best to avoid negative publicity.

Often, brands’ social media teams are different from their marketing and the customer care departments. One department exhorts the other to settle the complaint. For companies, retaining customers is as important as avoiding negative word of mouth.

This is where Singla and his small firm are able to pressure companies to address the problem. Akosha’s Twitter handle has around 3,000 followers.

“When we launch a social media campaign, we do it on behalf of the customer. We don’t proclaim that a company or a brand is a fraud. We impartially narrate the complaint on the brands’ social media page. Akosha does not do anything that may hurt the interests of the company,” Singla says, explaining how they avoid defamation suit.

But before accepting a complaint, Singla says his team first authenticates the complaint through internal checks.

Feedback welcome both for and against.
I recommend fling your complaints by yourself .

Goddess Durga is the embodiment of Valor and demolishes evil influences in one’s Life.

Durga is worshiped mainly to ward off evil effects, mental disorders, for granting Courage, Success and a very positive approach to Life.

  • Devi’s Sin Absolved ,Throat Mahamaya, Amarnath Shakti Peeta

    Devi‘s Throat/Neck fell here near Pahalgam,Jammu Kashmir,India.

I have completed posting articles on the Ashtadasa(18) Peetas of Shakti as descrbed by Adi Shankaracharya.

I am planning, DV, on the 52/101 Shakti Peetas as well.

    The Legend:

he cave is said to be about 5000 years old.

There is a reference about King Aryaraja dating back to 300 BCE who used to worship a ling formed in ice in Kashmir.

The book Rajatarangini (is a historical chronicle written in verse form in sanskrit particularly about the kings of Kashmir) has references to Amarnath or Amareshwara. Suryamathi, a queen gifted Trishul, banalingas and other sacred emblems to the temple in 11th Century AD.

    Puranic References

According to one reference/narration Lord Shiva led an ascetic life after the death of Sati.

Then Sati was reborn as Parvati, the daughter of Himavan.

As Parvati knew about her earlier life as Devi Sati, Parvati did severe tapas to reunite with Lord Shiva at Amarnath.

Devi Parvati then joins Lord Shiva as Mahamaya at Amarnath.

Along with the Ice Linga, there are two other lingas representing Devi Parvati and Ganesh.

Another narration/reference is that Lord Shiva explained the secret of immortality and creation of Universe to Devi Parvati which is as follows:

Once Devi Parvati wanted to know when and why Lord Shiv was wearing the Mund Mala (chain worn around Lord Shiva’s neck made of beads of head)

Lord Shiva replied that each time Parvati was born, another bead of head gets added to his mala (chain).

Devi Parvati was astonished at this and asked Lord Shiva that though she was going through the cycle of birth and death time and again, how come He was immortal.

Parvati pleaded with Shiva to reveal the mystery of eternity.

Lord Shiva chose a place where no living being could listen and thus chose Amarnath cave. As Lord Shiva started towards Amarnath cave,

He left His Nandi (bull which He used to ride) at Phalgham (Bali gaon). At Chandanwari, He released Moon from his Hair( Jatta).

He released the snakes on the banks of Lake Sheshnag.  Lord Shiva left Ganesha, his son at Mahagunas Parvat (Mahaganesh Hill).

Finally Lord Shiva left Panch bhootas or five elements (Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Sky) which make a living being at Panchtarni.

It is said that Lord Shiva and Parvati did Tandav nritya as a symbol of sacrificing the Panch Boothas.

After leaving all these behind, Lord Siva then entered the Holy Amarnath Cave along with Devi Parvati.

In the cave, Lord Shiva took Samadhi on the Deer Skin.

As Lord Shiva wanted the immortal tale to be kept a secret, He created a Rudra named Kalagni and ordered him to spread fire to eliminate every living thing in and around the Holy Cave.

After this, He narrated the secret of immortality to Devi Parvati.

But, there was one egg which was lying beneath the Deer skin which remained protected.

It was believed to be non living besides, being protected by Shiva-

Parvati Asan (Bed). The pair of pigeons which were born out of this egg became immortal after having heard the secret of immortality (Amar Khatha) from Lord Shiva.

Many devotees who visit Amarnath cave report about having sighted the pair of pigeons en route to the Ice-Linga.

Another narration/reference is about the cave is that the Kashmir valley was under water. Sage Kashyap drained the water through number of rivers and rivulets.

Another reference is that Sage Bhrigu visited The Himalayas during that time and he was the first to visit the Amarnath cave.
