  • ‘Living Together’ Messes Up Life Study

    The case for Living together is basically one of embarking in a Relationship with out Commitment.

     

    Put it bluntly it is taken as a licence and a short route to Debauchery and sexual gratification a la animals with out a sense of responsibility.

     

    (some studies show Gorillas have a strong  sense of marital Commitment!)

     

    Some of the Reasons provided.Reason#1 – It’s financially responsible.

     

    Where I live, an apartment can run you somewhere between $700 and $1400.  Dropping an extra $1000/month seems like throwing your money down the drain.  If you’re a particularly “committed co-habitor” (yep, I like the term too :) ), you might even be building up equity in a home you’ve bought together.”

     

    You can do that even by Marrying.

     

    You spend all your time together anyways.  Like wasting money with rent, wasting time is equally frustrating.  You drive to each other’s places many times during the week.  You help each other with cooking and cleaning and laundry and bills.  Traveling back and forth, virtually living in two places, is kind of like the inconvenience of living out of a bag on a business trip.  It’s annoying.  If you want to be together, why all the running around?

    Reason #3 – It seems like a good next step in the relationship.  Consumers that we are in America, everything exists with a try it before you buy it clause.  Every infomercial promises that you can try it and return it in 30 days for a full refund.  And the bigger the purchase, the more you want to make sure it’s just right.  What kind of fool would buy a car before thorough inspection and testing?  Thankfully, marriage in our society today does, to a degree, maintain some semblance of “a big deal”.  Couples don’t want to rush into that.  Well, what about a “____ day money-back” transition period to see if this relationship truly feels right?  These test periods make sense in every other aspect of our lives, why not our relationships?

    Reason #4 – It’s so common.  By definition, nothing will make something seem like “not a big deal” faster than commonality.  I guarantee you know couples that are living together outside of marriage.  In fact, many of you, especially if you tend towards the younger generations, might know more couples that are living together than not.  It’s the age old, after-school-special argument of “How can it be that bad if everybody’s doing it?”  It was not, at least statistically speaking, common 40 years ago though.  Imagine that, after the sexually open-minded 60s, co-habitation was still considered fairly taboo.  People that lived together outside of marriage (particularly women – a strange double standard in our society that’s more appropriate for another article) developed reputations.  People don’t like bad reputations.  Regardless of ethnicity or religion, there is one word out there that young women don’t want to be called more than any other word.  Young people don’t call young girls promiscuous or even “skanky” anymore.  They call them this word – a word that will make a girl feel more worthless than any other – a destructive word that I guarantee is used at your child’s school.  40 years ago, living together with a man would earn a woman a label like this.  Not anymore.  In fact, if she’s only sexually active with one man, marriage or not, she’s virtually safe from labels today.  It’s just so common that it won’t warrant a subjective label like that.

    Reason #5 – We love each other.  Love is a funny word.  It’s a fascinating biblical word.  When a young couple chooses to live together because they love one another.

    Can one see any valid argument here?

    Read this.

    Of the 45 percent or so who do marry after living together, they are 50 percent more likely to divorce than those who remained separate before the wedding.So instead of 22 of the 45 couples divorcing (the 50 percent divorce rate) about 33 will divorce. That leaves just 12 couples who have begun their relationship with cohabitation who end up with a marriage lasting 10 years.

  • Lawyer has Sex with Client, Bills Her!

    We know there are lawyers who chase Ambulances and are in pursuit of Bills in general.

     

    In a rare case a Divorce lawyer has sex with his client and Billed her.

    A Minnesota lawyer has been suspended indefinitely for billing a divorce client for time they spent having sex.

    The state Supreme Court invoked the suspension against Thomas P. Lowe, 58, of Eagan, in a ruling last Thursday, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Tuesday. Lowe will have to wait at least 15 months before getting an opportunity to seek reinstatement.

    The newspaper said Lowe had known the woman for many years. He became her attorney in her divorce case after she came to him in August 2011.

    They soon began an affair that lasted for several months, during which Lowe, who was married, periodically billed her for legal services provided at the times they were having sex, the newspaper. Their liaisons were coded as meetings or drafting memos.

    After their relationship became acrimonious, Lowe told her he was ended it and soon thereafter said he would no longer be her attorney.

    At that point, the woman tried to kill herself and while in the hospital revealed the affair, the newspaper said.

    The Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility subsequently filed a case against Lowe and court documents show he eventually admitted the allegations.

    The newspaper said it was unable to reach Lowe for comment

  • Employee Outsources Job!’

    The truly lazy are often the most creative. Like this developer, who was caught outsourcing his entire job to China so that he could spend his time at work… not working.

    The ruse—highlighted in a Verizon case study—was carried out by an employee called “Bob” who worked at an anonymous “critical infrastructure company”. The trick was only spotted when someone noticed suspicious activity on the company’s VPN log. The report explains:

    “We received a request from a US-based company asking for our help in understanding some anomalous activity that they were witnessing in their VPN logs. Plainly stated, the VPN logs showed [Bob] logged in from China, yet the employee is right there, sitting at his desk, staring into his monitor.”

    While Bob apparently received glowing performance reviews, all of his development work was being carried out from China. In fact, he pulled off the same scam across multiple companies concurrently, earning “several hundred thousand dollars a year”.

    Further investigation revealed a typical day’s work for Bob included: reading Reddit for two hours, shopping on eBay for an hour, browsing Facebook for two hours, and checking LinkedIn for a further two. Looks like he’ll be spending more time on LinkedIn from now on.

    Such a case came about in 2012. The scenario was as follows. We received a request from a US-based company asking for our help in understanding some anomalous activity that they were witnessing in their VPN logs. This organization had been slowly moving toward a more telecommuting oriented workforce, and they had therefore started to allow their developers to work from home on certain days. In order to accomplish this, they’d set up a fairly standard VPN concentrator approximately two years prior to our receiving their call. In early May 2012, after reading the 2012 DBIR, their IT security department decided that they should start actively monitoring logs being generated at the VPN concentrator. (As illustrated within our DBIR statistics, continual and pro-active log review happens basically never – only about 8% of breaches in 2011 were discovered by internal log review). So, they began scrutinizing daily VPN connections into their environment. What they found startled and surprised them: an open and active VPN connection from Shenyang, China!  As in, this connection was LIVE when they discovered it.

    Besides the obvious, this discovery greatly unnerved security personnel for three main reasons:

    • They’re a U.S. critical infrastructure company, and it was an unauthorized VPN connection from CHINA. The implications were severe and could not be overstated.
    • The company implemented two-factor authentication for these VPN connection. The second factor being a rotating token RSA key fob. If this security mechanism had been negotiated by an attacker, again, the implications were alarming.
    • The developer whose credentials were being used was sitting at his desk in the office.

    Plainly stated, the VPN logs showed him logged in from China, yet the employee is right there, sitting at his desk, staring into his monitor. Shortly after making this discovery, they contacted our group for assistance. Based on what information they had obtained, the company initially suspected some kind of unknown malware that was able route traffic from a trusted internal connection to China, and then back. This was the only way they could intellectually resolve the authentication issue. What other explanation could there be?

    Our investigators spent the initial hours with the victim working to facilitate a thorough understanding of their network topology, segmentation, authentication, log collection and correlation and so on. One red flag that was immediately apparent to investigators was that this odd VPN connection from Shenyang was not new by any means. Unfortunately, available VPN logs only went back 6 months, but they showed almost daily connections from Shenyang, and occasionally these connections spanned the entire workday. In other words, not only were the intruders in the company’s environment on a frequent basis, but such had been the case for some time.

    Central to the investigation was the employee himself, the person whose credentials had been used to initiate and maintain a VPN connection from China.

    One post dealt with the publicity seekers and the media coverage which seemed to have only the TRP in its mind.

    And the issue of punishing the accused in th recent Delhi Gang Rape descended  into a free for all for men Bashing and demand for more Freedom for women  to dress and  move about.

    In the din some issues  have been left out.

    Alcohol use by the victim or the perpetrator is frequently associated with acquaintance rape.

    • In the same study 21% of the college women who experienced sexual aggression on a date were intoxicated at the time of the assault, and an additional 32% reported being mildly buzzed—53% were under the influence of alcohol.
    • More than once a minute, 78 times an hour, 1,871 times a day, girls and women in America are raped.

    Sexual assault has nothing to do with passion; it uses power and control to dominate and humiliate victims.

    • 50% of rapists are between the ages of 15 and 24 years old (see Figure 1).
    • Studies consistently conclude that 75% of all assaults are planned.  When three or more assailants are involved, the number climbs to 90%.
    • 78% of rape victims know their attackers.

    The average annual rate of rape and sexual assault among American Indians is 3.5 times higher than for all races.

    • American Indian victims of violence are the most likely of all races of victims to indicate that the offender committed the offense while drinking.

    • Victims of rape and sexual assault often don’t report the crime to the police and often do not report it to anyone.
    • According to Bureau of Justice Statistics, over 70 % of sexual assaults are not reported. For Native women reporting can be really difficult because of the high level of mistrust for white agencies and helpers.  Other reasons Native women do not report sexual assault is the fear of being ostracized by their families, as well as the complicated jurisdictional issues on reservations.
    • The National Violence Against women survey indicated a 15.9 percent victimization rate of American Indian/Alaska Natives by an intimate partner—significantly higher than for women of other races.
    • Of the 854 American Indians convicted in federal court in fiscal year 1997, 20 % were convicted for rape.”

    Now if we look at the coverage of Media on the recent gang rape , how many of them focused on the issue of punishing th guilty?

    They concentrated more who said what on the ‘Rape’

    The jokers who came on the Television channels were interested in cheap publicity and said things more for shock value so that they may be noticed.

    Even those who had the interests of women were crude to the point of calling women names, instead of asking them to be careful.

    This type of coverage is not new.

    Media, including print Media sensationalizes any thing that is perverted.

    Look at the coverage they extend to father/uncles raping a child, women/murdering their husbands with the help of their paramour,

    revealing /nude photographs under the garb of social reporting and Fashion.

    Look at our own Times of India, whose TimesNow cried Foul the most in the recent gang Rape, publishing a Page In Your City showing faceless people showing off cleavage, writing about drinking parties.!
