There is a temple in Tamil Nadu, where Lord Shiva is reported to have chanted The Vedas in private at the request of Parvati Devi and Lord Subrahmanya was reported to have overheard it on the sly transforming Himself into a Bee , hiding behind Parvathi’s Hair.
Lord Shiva cursed Subrahmanya to turn into a Fish and Parvathi a Mermaid.
The Nataraja statue is made of Emerald,always kept in Sandalwood paste, is brought out in the open on the Arudra Day in Markazhi(December-November)
The Ilandai Tree((Ziziphus jujuba0 is reported to b 3000 years old.
This is the only temple where Thazhampoo is used in Shiva Pooja;it is banned for use in Shiva Pooja as Thazhampoo gave a false witness in favour of Lord Brahma stating that He had seen Shiva’s head.
