  • Tamil New Year-Karunanidhi’s Con.

    Tamil New Year is traditionally celebrated on the First of  ‘Chittirai’ month according to Tamil tradition.

    During his last tenure as Chief Minister,Karunanidhi, the self-appointed custodian of Tamils and Tamil Literature, declared that Tamil New Year will be celebrated on the First of ‘Thai’ in Tamil Calendar, as this is the day Tamilians celebrate on a grand scale and that to have this as the New Year is the true spirit of Tamils.

    Nothing can be farther from the  Truth.

    Tamils(definition, according to Karunanidhi  are  those who follow him, excludes Hindus, especially Brahmins)  as a race follow  the Tamil New Year is blatantly wrong.

    Christians celebrate on January First , Muslims and Jains among Tamils as per their calendars.

    Only Hindus celebrate Tamil new year as a Religious festival, not as a social function, for Hindus follow Sauramanam(which keeps movement of The Sun as the basis of calculations).

    Hence Tamil New year is not for all the Tamils but is practiced  only by The Hindus as a religious function .

    Tamil literature abounds in evidence to support  this fact.

    There is some more non sense to come.

    Tamil Nadu Government follows Thiruvalluvar Era as the basis for calculating Time.

    This starts on the   Second of ‘Thai’ which is Thiruvalluvar day.

    Now the date of Thiruvalluvar is fixed by Maraimalai Adigal as Vaikasi ‘Anusham’ 31 BC.

    ‘Vaikasi’ Second is three month away from  Thiruvalluvar Aandu.

    If the Calendar is based on Thiruvalluvar Aandu where is the necessity of tinkering with Tamil New year as  ‘Chittirai?

    Even here  the year of Thiruvalluvar is incorrect.

    Karunanidhi says the date of Thirulluvar Aandu was decided upon a meet by Tamil scholars under the Chairman ship of Maraimalai Adigal in 1921.

    ( ref;Governor’s Speech 23/1/2008 page 38-39).

    There is no record of such a meet anywhere .

    Karunanidhi has this habit of referring to imaginary meets to suit his political games as he does stating Annadurai came in his dreams and advised him on a certain course of action!(Karunanidhi is a “Pahuththarivu vaathi’-Rationalist.

  • DMK out of UPA,IN UPA!? Typical Karunanidhi Double Speak!

    DMK is with Congress at the Centre,in his words ‘for Lok Sabha‘.

    Wait for the announcement of Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu!

    Depending on Kanimozhi‘s release( which is expected by September 30th; read my blog on this ‘Kanimozhi to be release?’), he will decide whether to continue the Alliance with Congress for the Assembly polls.

    In fact the present posturing is to threaten the Congress.

    Those who know Karunanidhi will not be surprised by his glaring contradictory stance.

    He will call for Autonomy for Tamil Nadu when in Opposition, and preach of strong Center while in power.

    He will lecture on Tamil ,Tamil Race,-his grand children will study in Convents.

    He will ridicule Hinduism/Hindus.

    He will wear Yellow Shawl to please Jupiter( Guru Dhosham)

    He calls for Self respect Marriage (as though there is no such thing in Hindu marriages)

    Yet he will have purohits for his children’s marriages,perform all ceremonies.

    He will visit temples including Tanjore Big temple, enter by a side entrance,because superstition has it that those who enter the Temple -when in power- directly shall lose power, with Silk Dhoti and  Angavastram to escape the curse.

    Any way he lost power and has added to to the Myth.

    His family will perform Homas in Tirukkadavur for His Longevity, do Ragu Dosha Nivritti at Sri Kalahasti.

    He will support Tamil Elam, weep for Tamils in Sri Lanka, his daughter will meet with Rajapakshe.

    He will meet the Governor when their cable business is threatened but will not enter the area of Governor when Tamils are being killed.

    There can be only one Karunanidhi.

    “The ties between the two parties at the time Lok Sabha and Assembly polls will not break and it will continue. We are on good terms with the Centre,” Karunanidhi told reporters when asked whether his decision to go it alone for local body elections would affect DMK’s relations with Congress.

    Asked whether any Congress leader spoke to him after his announcement on Wednesday, he replied in the negative.

    “We have already mentioned clearly in the statement. We have not said there is no relationship with Congress. There is no alliance for the Local Body Elections and DMK will contest alone was the only announcement I made,” he said adding local body polls are based on people’s basic needs.

    “There is no need to mix politics in this,” he said.

  • Cable War ,SUN TV, under Pressure, Cuts Cables.

    Under siege from  CBI and ED, SUNNETWORK is facing a new pressure from Arasu Cable of Tamil Nadu Government and is resorting to rowdyism to gain ground.

    Arasu Cable was revived by Karunanidhi himself( started by Jayalaithaa when she was in power last time and karunanidhi, who did not have time to meet the Governor on Tamil Genocide, went to Raj Bhavan to complain that Arasu cable was hurting his family Business!) to settle scores with Dayanidhi Maran in the wake of the news published by Dinakaran,a Tamil Daly belonging to SUN group to the effect that M.K.Stalin of DMK(son of Karunanidhi) is preferred over M.K.Azhagiri, another son of Karunanidhi and Union Minister of Fertilizers as future Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.-Dinakaran office was burned and people lost lives,aides of Azhagiri were arrested , freed for want of evidence;they are now in prison in another case..more intriguing than Ludlum’s Novels)

     

    Later the Family united and Karunanidhi shelved the Arasu Cable TV started by the Government with an investment of 100 crores.

     

    The IAS officer,Umashankar was suspended for trying to promote the Arasu Cable.

     

    Now Jayalalithaa has revived the Arasu Cable and it has become operational in Tamil Nadu,other than Chennai.

     

    There are 50,000 Cable operators in Tamil Nadu with 1,45,00000 connections.

     

    34,400 Operators have joined Arasu Cable.

     

    This has hit SUN Cable Vision.

     

    SUN has started ,in fact it has been the case since the inception of the Cable arm of SUN, blackmailing the operators into joining their Net work and leave Arasu Cable.

     

    Arasu Cable is offering 90 free channels @Rs.70/month against Rs 150-200 for SUN.

     

    It has popular packs excluding SUN NETWORK.

     

    Fun is that Kalignar TV,a Company run by M.K.Kanimozhi, daughter of Karunanidhi who is in jail for 2 G scam is included in the Arasu Cable pack!

     

    By force, because their party was in power,SUN TV has confiscated the connections of cable operators inChennai,Madurai,Tiruchi,Coimbatore,Tiuppur,Thanjavur and Erode.

     

    In 2009,30 Cable Operators‘ families who have resisted SUN TV have been forced to flee from Thanjavur.

     

    SUN is earning about Rs. 12 Crores /month from these forcibly obtained connections.

     

    The MSO’s are being threatened to be with SUN.

     

    Now that the Government has changed, SUN is resorting to cutting the Cables of the Operators who are with the Arasu Cables.

    By attaching a Gadget priced at Rs 100,  to the Cables of those who do not have SUN package, SUN ensures that the picture quality becomes very hazy.

    They have also infiltrated the Operators who have joined Arasu Cable  and are taking out processions and demonstrations purportedly from Public that Popular Channels(read SUN Network are not available in Arasu Cable).

     

    Because of these tactics, TV viewers are switching to DTH, where again SUN is offering their packs at throw away prices.( please read my blog on ‘Choosing your Cable/DTH’) 

     

    SUN also causes leakage  in Arasu Cables and makes SUN available in the Arasu package, which is illegal.

     

    SUN is fighting this issue in the Court stating that they have no hand in this.

     

    As the Arasu Cable is becoming popular, it is reported that those that have paid SUN TV to include their packs , are demanding their money back
