  • Quantum Indian Philosophy One Sloka Shankara

    The Universe, according to Modern Astrophysics contains 4% of Matter and 96% of Antimatter.

    (Atoms of Matter consists of, in the Atom, Electron with -ve Charge, Proton +Charge, while in Atoms Electrons have +ve charge and protons -ve Charge)

    The Purusha Sukta says the Manifested, or Matter, as equivalent to Ten Inches, if the Universe is taken, as a Human Being.

    ‘Sa Bhoomim Viswatho Vruthvaa Athyathishta Dasaangulam”

    Prakriti and Purusha are the two principles of Nature one is Positive  and another Negative, in terms of configuration of Atoms.

    Prakriti is Inert while Purusha is Dynamic.

    Together  they form the world.

    This is one aspect of explaining Ardhanaareswara.

    Together, they, Siva and Sakthi  form the world.

    “Siva Vaama Bhaaga Nilayam’  Shankaracharya explains it this way in the Meenakshi Pnacha Ratnam.

    2.If we want to communicate to Aliens and if they want to contact us the most likely medium is Sound.

    Other modes like mathematics, high intensity light, one is  not sure whether they could be understood by the other.

    One can always understand the primordial Sound.

    This idea seems to have struck Spielberg in his movie,’Close encounters of the Third Kind‘

    In the film , the Aliens and the earthlings communicate with each other through  sound, which sounds OM, listen to the Sound in the Film intently.

    So the Sabda Pramana, that is Sound is among the highest rated among the Five elements, out of which the other elements evolved.

    What is the most natural sound of the world, excepting the one that resonates in Space?

    It is the buzzing of the Bees.

    How does it sound?

    ‘Hreem’

    This is the Moola Akshara of Devi.

    Sankaracharya describes it as,

    “Hreenkaara Manrtojvalaam’

    ‘You are the One as the Hreenkaara and shine with effulgence.

    It is the buzzing of the Bees that is primordial in the world that makes an Akshara.

    3.The Universe, according to Quantum, exists at different levels and the Master Controller of the entire Universe is a tiny particle.

    How does Shankaracharya explain this point”

    ‘Srichakraangitha Bindhu madhya Vasatheem’

    The One who resides in the midst of Bindhu( very minute particle) which is in the Srichakra.

    4.And what is Space and how does one know directions in Space?

    The answer , according to Quantum , is that the Space is everywhere yet we do not know whether it is some where.

    So it has to be there , we are sore if it is there, yet . it is to point Everywhere.

    Look at the Sri Chakra’s Triangles, they point everywhere but collectively where?

    ‘Srichakra…….Vasathhem’

    5.The Universe in which we live is one among the many verses, they seem to be infinite in number(both in Matter and Antimatter)

    And what we see is only a perspective or put it simply we see what we want to see or perceive.

    This, from Quantum!

    And our perspective even alters what we perceive.

    So in short, in the words of Shakespeare, ‘All the World is a Stage’

    Shankaracharya puts it.

    Srimad Sabha Nayakeem’

    The One who oversees the Drama , that is Universes.

    6.And why does the Universe we perceive look Real though it is Unreal?

    Because you are bewitched by ignorance,

    Shankara calls it ,,because of ‘JaganMohineem’ the attribute of Devi to bewitch to see things as they are not, when you are not spiritually developed.

    He concludes the sloka with the adjectives for Devi as ,

    Srimad Shanmugha Vigna Raaja Jananeem’

    One who gave birth to Subramanya , with six aspects and Ganesha, the One who removes obstacles.

    Why these objectives ?

    He could have used a Siva, he being Her equal partner.

    But The ignorance is the impediment for Realization and Ganesha removes it.

    And Subramanya , in His six aspects, is the Best among those who realized Brahman, who taught His father, Shiva, the Pranava,.

    In Sanskrit if you add ‘Su’ as an affix , it indicates the best,

    He is Su-Brahmanya, Subramanya.

    புருஷன் ,இறைவன் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான தலைகள் உடையவர் .

    ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பாதங்களை உடையவர் .அவர் பூமியை வியாபித்து 10 அங்குல அளவில் நிற்கிறார் .1

    முன்பு எது இருந்ததோ ,எது இனி வரப் போகிறதோ ,இப்பொழுது எது காணப்படுகிறதோ ,எல்லாம் இறைவனே .

    மரணமிலாப் பேரு நிலைக்குத் தலைவராக இருப்பவரும் அவரே.

    ஏனெனில் , அவர் இந்த ஜட உலகைக் கடந்தவர் . 2

    இங்கு காணப்படுவதெல்லாம் இறைவனின் மகிமையே .

    ஆனால் ,அந்த இறைவன் ,இவற்றை விடச் சிறப்பு மிக்கவர் .

    தோன்றியவை எல்லாம் அவருடைய கால் பங்கு மட்டுமே .

    அவரது முக்கல் பங்கு விண்ணில் இருக்கிறது . 3

    பரம்பொருளின் முக்கல் பங்கு விண்ணில் விளங்குகிறது ,

    எஞ்சிய கால் பண்குமீண்டும் இந்தப் பிரபஞ்சமாகத் தோன்றியது .

    பிறகு , அவர் உயிர்கள் மற்றும் ஜடப் பொருள்களில் எல்லாம் ஊடுருவிப் பார்த்தார். 4

    அந்த ஆதி புருஷனிடமிருந்து பிரம்மாண்டம் தோன்றியது .

    ப்ரம்மாண்டைத் தொடர்ந்து பிரம்ம உண்டாகி எங்கும் வியாபித்தார் .

    பிறகு அவர் பூமியைப் படைத்தார் .

    அதன் பிறகு , உயிர்களுக்கு உடலைப் படைத்தார் . 5

    முதற்பபடைப்பில் படைக்கப்பட்ட தாங்கள் வேள்வி செய்வதற்கான் போருல்கலில்லை என்பதைக் கண்டனர்.

    எனவே ,இறைவனை ஆகுதியாகக் கொண்டு மனத்தளவில் வேள்வி செய்தனர் .

    இயற்கையின் அம்சங்களான காலம் போன்றவற்றைப் பயன் படுத்தினர் . 6

    இந்த வேள்விக்கு பஞ்ச பூதங்கள் ,இரவு ,பகல் ஆகியவை பரிதிகள் ஆயின .

    இருபத்தொரு தத்துவங்கள் விறகுகள் ஆயின .

    தேவர்கள் யாகத்தை ஆரம்பித்து பிரம்மாவை ஹோமப் பசுவாய்க் கட்டினார்கள் 7

    முதலில் உண்டான அந்த யஜ்ன புருஷனான பிரம்மாவின் மீது தண்ணீர் தெளித்தார்கள் .

    அதன் பிறகு சாத்த்யகளும் தேவர்களும் ரிஷிகளும் இன்னும் யார் யார் உண்டோ அவர்களும் யாகத்தைச் செய்தார்கள்.9

    பிரபஞ்ச வேள்வியாகிய அந்த யாகத்தில் இருந்து தயிர் கலந்த நெய் உண்டாயிற்று .

    பறவைகளையும் மான் புலி போன்ற காடு விலங்குகளையும் ,பசு போன்ற வீடு மிருகங்களையும் பிரம்ம படைத்தார் 9

    பிரபஞ்ச வேள்வியாகிய அந்த யகத்தில் இருந்து ரிக் ,சாம வேத மந்திரங்களும் ,காயத்ரீ சந்தங்களும் உண்டாயின .

    அதிலிருந்தே யஜுர் வேதம் உண்டாயிற்று . 10

    அதிலிருந்தே குதிரைகள் தோன்றின .

    இருவரிசைப் பற்கள் உடைய மிருகங்களும் ,பசுகாளும்வேள்ளடுகளும் ,செம்மறியாடுகளும் தோன்றின . 11

    பிரம்மாவை தேவைகள் பலியிட்டபோது அவரை எந்தெந்த வடிவம் ஆக்கினார்கள்?

    அவர் முகம் எதுவாயிற்று ?

    கைகால்களாக எது சொல்லப்படுகிறது ?

    தொடைகளாக ,பாதங்களாக எது கூறப்படுகிறது ? 12

    அவரது முகம் பிராம்மணன் ஆயிற்று .

    கைகள் சத்ரியன் ஆயிற்று .

    தொடைகள் வைசியன் ஆயிற்று .

    அவரது பாதங்களில் இருந்து சூத்திரன் தோன்றினான் . 13.

    மனதிலிருந்து சந்திரன் தோன்றினான் .

    கண்ணில் இருந்து சூரியனும் ,முகத்தில் இருந்து இந்திரனும் அக்னியும் தோன்றினர் .

    பிராணன் வாயுவைத் தோற்றுவித்தது . 14.

    தொப்புளில் இருந்து வானவெளி தோன்றிற்று .

    தலையில் இருந்து சொர்க்கம் தோன்றியது .பாதங்களில் இருந்து பூமியும் ,காதில் இருந்து திசைகளும் தோன்றின .

    அவ்வாறே எல்லா உலகங்களும் உருவாக்கப் பட்டன . 15.

    எல்லா உருவங்களையும் தோற்றுவித்து ,பெயர்கையும் அமைத்து ,எந்த இறைவன் செயல் பட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கிறாரோ ,

    மகிமை பொருந்தியவரும் ,சூரியனைப் போல் ஒளிர்பவரும் ,இருளுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டவரும் ஆன அந்த இறைவனை நான்

    அறிவேன் . 16

    எந்த இறைவனை பிரம்மா ஆதியில் என்று கண்டு கூறினாரோ ,இந்திரன் நான்கு நான்கு திசைகளிலும் நன்றாகக் கண்டானோ ,

    அவரை நான் இவ்வாறு அறிவபன்,

    இங்கேயே, அதாவது இந்தப் பிறவியிலே முக்தனாகிறான் .

    மோட்சத்திற்கு வேறு வழி இல்லை . 18

    தேவர்கள் இந்த வேள்வியினால் இறைவனை வழி பட்டார்கள் .

    அவை முதன்மையான தர்மகள் ஆயின .

    எங்கே ஆரம்பத்தில் வேள்வியால் இறைவனை வழி பட்ட சாத்யர்களும் தேவர்களும் இருக்கிறார்களோ தர்மங்களைக் கடைப்

    பிடிக்கின்ற மகான்கள் அந்த மேலான உலகை அடைவார்கள் . 18

    தண்ணீரிலிருந்தும் சாரமான அம்சத்தில் இருந்தும் பிரபஞ்சம் உண்டாயிற்று .

    பிரபஞ்சத்தை உருவாக்கிய இறைவனிடம் இருந்து சிறந்தவரான பிரம்ம தோன்றினார் .

    இறைவன் அந்த பிரம்மாவின் (பதிநானு உலகும் நிறைந்த)உருவை உண்டாக்கி அதில் வியாபித்து இருக்கிறார் .

    பிரம்மாவின் இந்தப் பிரபஞ்ச வடிவம் படைப்பின் தொடக்கத்தில் உண்டாயிற்று . 19

    மகிமை பொருந்தியவரும் ,சூரியனைப் போல் ஒளிர்பவரும் ,இருளுக்கு அப்பால் இருப்பவரும் ஆகிய அந்த இறைவனை நான்

    அறிவேன் .

    அவரை இவ்வாறு அறிபவன் இங்கேயே இந்தப் பிறவியில் முக்தனாகிறான் .

    முக்திக்கு வேறு வழி இல்லை . 20

    இறைவன் பிரபஞ்சத்தில் செயல் படுகிறார் .

    பிறக்காதவர் ஆயினும் ,அவர் பல்வேறு வடிவங்களில் தோன்றுகிறார்.

    அவரது உண்மையான வடிவத்தை மகான்கள் நாக்கு அறிகிறார்கள் .

    பிரம்மா போன்றோர் கூட மரீசி போன்ற மகன்களின் பதவியை விரும்புகிறார்கள் . 21.

    யார் தேவர்களிடம் தேஜஸ் ஆக விளங்குகிராரோ ,ஹெவர்களின் குருவாக இருக்கிறாரோ ,தேவர்களுக்கு முன்பே

    தோன்றியவரோ , அந்த ஒளி மயமான பரம்போருக்கு நமஸ்காரம் . 22.

    பரம்பொருளைப் பற்றிய உண்மையை அளிக்கும்போது தேவர்கள் ஆதியில் அடாஹிப் பற்றி பின் வருமாறு கூறினார்கள் .

    “யாராக இருந்தாலும் , பரம்பொருளை நாடுபவன் , இவ்வாறு அறிவான் ஆனால் , அவனுக்கு தேவர்கள் வசமாக இருப்பார்கள்

    – 23

    நாணத்தின் தலைவி ஆகிய ஹ்ரீ தேவியும் ,செல்வத்திற்குத் தலைவி ஆகிய லக்ஷ்மி தேவியும் உமது மனைவியர் .

    பகலும் இரவும் உமது பக்கங்கள் ,நட்சத்திரங்கள் உமது திரு உருவம் .

    அஸ்வினி தேவர்கள் உமது மலர்ந்த திரு வாய் . 24.

    பரம் பொருளே !

    நாங்கள் விரும்புவதைக் கொடுத்து அருள்வாய் .

    இவ்வுலக இன்பத்தைக் கொடுத்து அருள்வாய் ,

    இகத்திலும் , பரத்திலும் அனைத்தையும் தந்தருள்வாய் .

    ஓம் தத் சத் !

  • Durga 108 Names To Ward Off Evils

    In my Post Sri Vidya Mantra Tantra I have mentioned that there are many Mantra and Tantra Upasanas of Devi.

     

    I wrote about the Propitiation  of Goddess Laltha in Sri Vidya.

     

    I am yet to complete the series on Lalithambika.

     

    I chanced upon  some good material and decided to post on Durga ..

     

    If one looks at the Panchamirtha and Sri Rudra and Chamaka of Hinduism in Vedas, one can find some interesting features.

     

    Panchaamritha,Purusha,Narayana,Vishnu, Sri and DurgaSuktams.

    1.Cosmic Evolution is described in Detail in Purusha Sukta.

     

    2.How Lord Narayana runs the set world.

     

    3.How Lord Vishnu protects the world.

     

    4.The difference between Purusha, Narayana and Vishnu are delineated, if one were to follow carefully.

     

    5.The attributes of each God or Goddess is given. like ‘Hiranya varnam for Lakshmi.

     

    6.If one listens to the intonations of each of these the basic attributes of the Deity being praised will be felt.

     

    Note the difference in the Tones and inflection between Narayana Suktam and Sri Rudra, the former indicates a quiet nature while the later a

     

    Gambhiram(This word, to my knowledge has no equivalent in English)

    One would notice the same difference between the Sri Suktamaand Durga Suktam.

     

    Goddess Durga is the embodiment of Valor and demolishes evil influences in one’s Life.

     

    Durga is worshiped mainly to ward off evil effects,mental disorders, for granting Courage, Success and a very positive approach to Life.

     

    Chanting the following 108 names of Durga , selected from the Lalitha Sahasranama will  ward off evils and grant one Devi’s Benevolence.

     

    Naivedyam . Sakkarai Pongal.

     

    One may do it every Friday.

     

    Can be done for 45 Days at a stretch as well.

  • Purusha Suktam Verse 1 Reality Two Fingers Breadth

    Purusha sukta (puruṣasūkta, पुरुष सूक्त) is hymn 10.90 of the Rigveda, dedicated to the Purusha, the “Cosmic Being”

    Purusha means ‘Male’ in Sanskrit.

    Here in the Purusha Sukta the term is applied to mean a Principle,which is virile containing the seeds of Immanence.

    (Feminists need not take offence for this term contains, in this context, Female Principle Prakriti is immanent.

    As the explanation is about things before creation some term is to be used ”He’; is used and She is not used because the import of the Female term is different.This will be clear as the explanation will reveal later)

    The Purusha ukta describe the process of manifestation as Indian Philosophy does not use the term Creation, but only manifestation.

    Creation involves bringing forth some thing new which has not been in Existence before.

    As everything is Eternal there is no question of Creating something.

    Contrary to what many belive the Pursh Sukta is not about Vishnu or Narayana.

    Separate Suktam on these Deities appeat later as Narayan Suktam and Sri Vishnu Suktam.

    While Narayana is an Amsa of Purusha, Visnu is an Amsa of Narayana.

    As Lakshmi and Durga are.

    Therefore to complete the Chanting one has to recite all the Five Suktas .

    This is the actual Panchamrutha. not the dish we prepare and offer to God as an item to bathe Him with.

    When some one says in the Pooja, whether in the Temples or Homes, Panchamrutha Snanam Samarppayami, the Five Suktas are to be chanted.

    The Vedas have Four Parts,

    Samhitas, which contain Prayers to Gods,

    Brahmanas about the Oblations/Yagnas,

    Aranyakas, the efforts to realize Reality from the forest, and

    The Upanishads, where Reality is described.

    The Purusha Sukta is unique in that it contains all the four parts in one Sukta,

    Purusha Sukta appears in the Rig Veda 10.90 verses.

    सहस्रशीर्षा पुरुषः सहस्राक्षः सहस्रपात् ।
    स भूमिं विश्वतो वृत्वात्यतिष्ठद्दशाङुलम् ॥१॥
    Sahasra-Shiirssaa Purussah Sahasra-Akssah Sahasra-Paat |
    Sa Bhuumim Vishvato Vrtva-Atya[i]-Tisstthad-Dasha-Angulam ||1||

    Meaning:
    1.1: The Purusha (The Universal Being) has Thousand Heads, Thousand Eyes and Thousand Feet (Thousand signifies innumerable which points to the omnipresence of the Universal Being),
    1.2: He envelops the World from all sides (i.e. He pervades each part of the Creation), and extends beyond in the TenDirections ( represented by Ten Fingers ).

    Purusha-Reality,

    Sahsra Seersha-has over 1000 heads-In Sanskrit , innumerable is often called as ‘Sahasra’ or Thousand.

    Aksha-has 100 eyes(Aksha-eyes)

    Sahasrabath-has over 1000 feet.

    Bommim-The Earth,

    Viswatha-everywhere,

    Vruthvaa-Spread and immanent,

    Dasa Angulam-Stands at 10 Inches.

    Athyathishtath-Stands, remains.

    Angulam means ‘by a measurement of two fingers’

    “The fact that the unit of angulam of 1.763 cm could match very well the dimensions of historical monuments establishes the continuity of India’s engineering tradition through the ages for as long as 3,900 years’

    In Hindu Theology the personal God Iswara who resides in the heart measures one inch .

    In Hinduism, the Psychological heart is said to be on the Right side of the Chest as against the left side for the Physical heart.

    In this verse, the external manifestation of the Universal Principle , as can be grasped by the Human mind, is expressed,just as camera film records the size, not in real-time.

  • Purusha Suktam An Introduction

    The Purusha Suktam is one of the earliest compositions that occurs in the Rig Veda.

    There are Five most sacred mantras that are revered and chanted by the Hindus in Temples and at Homes on auspicious occasions.

    People perform this on a Daily basis as a part of their Daily Pooja.

    These Five Suktas are,

    Purusha Suktam,

    Nayanayana Suktam,

    Vishnu Suktam.

    Sri Suktam and

    Durga Suktam.

    These five Suktas are to be recited at the time of Bathing the Deity.

    If one looks the Universe and its workings it would be evident that everything in the Universe takes place in a rhythmic pattern.

    Stars are formed, decay, Die and are regenerated.

    Plants , animals and Man are born grow, decay and die.

    Seasons come and go.

    Everything in the world takes something from the Universe and gives it back.

    Plants give out Oxygen and we need Oxygen ‘we give out carbon and Plants need them

    Despite our mishandling of the Universe, the Universe takes back what we have taken from it, including our Life and Body.

    The Laws of Universe do not expect anything.

    Gravitation,Light,Heat and the other elements do not care whether we understand them or not.

    They just go about their jobs..

    In the Vedas performance of an action because it ought to be performed is called Yagna.

    The Purusha Suktam describes the evolution of the Universe at two levels. describing the process at two levels.

    One by performing a Yagna and another as Yaga where a specific result is required.
