    The Power of Aksharas: Unveiling the Spiritual Significance of Sounds in Tamil Tradition

    https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4221745305242816

    Sounds precede written scripts.Not all sounds can be captured or written down.Language is from Sounds and not the other way around.Sounds express emotions and are spontaneous.Sounds also express the innermost yearnings of Beings. Spiritual feelings too are expressed though sounds.

    Siva, Siddha Thirumoolar, records in his Thirumandhiram a Philosophical and Tantric treatise in Tamil states that Siva had created The Fifty one letters of Sanskrit and Tamil to synchronize with the Aksharas of Devi.

    The term’ Akshara’ in Sanskrit means Not Limited, conveying the fact that sounds are not limited and depend on one’s level of Spiritual enlightenment.

    It is worth noting that Special Aksharas are embedded in Soundaryalahari by Sri Shankaracharya.

    Sometimes , sounds are not expressed explicitly in a language but is embedded in it.

    Shall be writing on this.

    This is the reason certain words are not recommended for usage as they would bring in spiritual downfall and difficulties in daily life.

    It may be noted that the first portion of the SoundaryaLahari( was given by Lord Ganesha and the balance was composed by Adi Shankaracharya.

    Lalitha Sahasranama contains these Aksharas, Alphabets in them.

    Devi is described as ‘Mathruka Varna Roopini’ Lalitha Sahasranama.

    Mantrathmika-Lalitha Sahasranama.

    Tantra Roopa Manon mayee-Lalitha Sahsranama

    Sarva Mantrathmike, Sarva Yantrathmike -Shyamala Dandakam by Kalidasa.Lalita is also known as Matrika Devi, the Goddess of the Letters of the Alphabet. In Sanskrit there are 36 consonants and 15 vowels. In some arrangements of Her yantra these letters are to be found inscribed in the various triangles and petals of Shri Yantra. The combination of the 15 Vowels (the 15 Nityas) and the consonants (the 36 Tattvas) produces all sound, all mantra, all vibration, all word, and all music.

    There are 8 letter groups in the Sanskrit alphabet. These 8 groups are personified as the 8 Little Mothers, worshipped all over India. The 9th group is Lalita Herself. She is beyond language and description. It is little realised ‘that gods and goddesses do not have names, but instead are described. “She who Plays” (Lalita) is not the name of the red goddess, but merely one of Her characteristics. She is beyond Name and Form.

    In the first 12 verses (shlokas) of the Vamakeshvara Tantra is given a hymn to the Goddess as the Mother of the Letters:

    1. I bow to the Goddess made of mantra, who consists of the (51) Ganeshas, the (9) Planets, the (27) Lunar Constellations, the (6) Yoginis, the (12) Signs of the Zodiac, and the (51) Matrika-Seats.

    2. I bow to the great Matrika Devi, the Supreme Lady, who in Time is both a fraction of a second and the end of the Universe, the Destroyer and the Creatrix of Time.

    3. Who is the whole perfect measure of the letters of the alphabet, worshipped by the Sun, Garuda, the Moon, the God of Love, by Lord Shankar, the God of Fire, and by Vishnu.

    4. I worship the Devi of all Devis, the great Shri Siddha Matrika, whose letters of the alphabet, like moonlight, adorn the three worlds.

    5. Who is the great thread of the letters of the alphabet, from which is woven the three worlds, who extends from the top of the head to the base of the spine. I worship you, 0 Siddha Matrika.

    6. Who is made up of the 11 adharas (in the body), the universe-seed, the source of the primordial triangle. From the top of the head to the base of the spine you are the Origin of the World.

    7. Who is the aggregate of the 8 letter-groups A-Ka-Ca-Ta-Ta-Pa-Ya-Sa, the primordial Source and Many Rayed Dweller in the centre of the heart.

    8. Unfolder of the letter I, essence of essences, Most Ultimate One, I bow to you Great Devi, form of the Utmost Bliss.

    9. The primordial One, of whom other gods and goddesses have no inkling. Who knows what and from where She creates? O Producer of Form and Formlessness!

    10. I worship You, the imperishable letter-form from A to Ksha, O Devi, Supremely Auspicious Being. You are the Expansion Mirror, the Maya of the 36 Tattvas.

    11. The aggregate of the eight groups of letters, in whom the eight Little Mothers reside, I worship You, Great Lady of the eight siddhis which originate from the eight letter groups.

    12. Dwelling at the Auspicious Sacred Seats (Pithas) of Kamarupa, Purnagiri and Jalandhara, I bow to You Great Shree Tripura, the fourfold abode of the Elements.

    Syllables of Vidya.

    Vidya is feminine of mantra. Lalita has various forms of mantra, the most popular seeming to be the vidya of 15 syllables which runs Ka E I La Hrim, Ha Sa Ka Ha La Hrim, Sa Ka La Hrim. This is a mantra with three sections which correspond to Moon, Sun and Fire. There is said to be a secret 16th syllable which is the Goddess Herself. This vidya is called Kadi (Ka etc.) because of its initial letter. The Kadi doctrine deals with involution of the yantra, the Hadi vidya with evolution. These 15 syllables correspond to the 15 Kalas of the Moon.

    If you refer to the pages on Shri Puja and the Bhavana Upanishad as well as the Shri Yantra figure above and the page on the Nine Mandalas of the Shri Yantra, this text becomes much easier to follow.

    Siddhar Thirumoolar has said that all the ancient eighteen languages of India are subject to the rules of virtue given by Lord Shiva.
    Siddhar Thirumoolar has said that the original Tamil alphabet had the form of 15 vowels + 35 consonants + 1 Om Pranavam = 51 letters. Siddhar Thirumoolar has repeatedly told about these primitive alphabets in many places in Thirumantra. Siddhar Thirumoolar says that it is from these primordial writings that the Vedas and Agamas originated in South India and therefore South India is the purest place in the world.

    The art of life is combined with reading and writing
    The primordial letter is called fifty and one

    You ( Siva) are the one who writes and writes in – Thirumoolar

    There are references to these Tamil primordial letters as fifty-one letters in all Siddhar songs such as Akchani Siddhar, Agappey Siddhar, Kongana Siddhar, Bokar, Sivavakkiyar, Pattinathu Siddhar. • Unforeseen Vision After Chemotherapy: A Life-Altering Event

    Chemotherapy started.Because of my age, the sessions were split into sub sessions and it was suggested that I undergo half the total dosage during pre operation period and the other  postoperation.

    After the second Chemotherapy session, I was discharged and I was staying in my daughter’s house which was near to Aster JP Nagar Bangalore.

    I was also prescribed some medicines .

    Unfortunately due to  lack of  communication, a tablet was discontinued and this led to serious side effects and also, in my case ,Blessing, as I was bestowed with a Vision .

    This happened after the third sub cycle/ session of chemotherapy  completed and I was discharged.

    Three days after stopping a tablet, on an early morning, as I was entering my rest room to complete my morning routine around 7 AM IST, I felt that something was not alright with me. I called out to my son in law ( I sleep alone in my bedroom as I feel it is comfortable for me,even if I am sick/ recuperating).

    Meenakshi Kalyana.

    Vishnu Devi and Siva

    Then what happened was neither a Feeling nor Cognitive nor was it something one can communicate. It was an experience which can not really be called so as I seemed to be away from the Experience ,yet I was experiencing.

    Did  I dream of it ?
    No, I was able to perceive, see( ?) hear( ?) with 360* perspective, with no restriction of Space or most Importantly Time.

    I was seeing(?) ,I am using this term for want of better terminology. One who goes through WhatsApp I had, know what I am talking about), things around me in my daughter’s house;

    -My son in law calling out that Appa collapsed, She calling out for the Ambulance,weeping,asking my son to come to Aster directly ;

    I was seeing my son in law lifting me up as a child and propping  me in the bed;

    Hear him say that the Ambulance had arrived and that he is getting the wheel chair to go to lift;

    Till then the body,which I later realised was mine,replied that it would walk and it would not need a wheelchair even to walk from the ground floor entrance ;

    It walked,refused the stretcher and jumped into the ambulance saying that it’s daughter would be upset seeing It thus;

    then the ambulance sped away to Aster JP Nagar ( which later I came to know took seven minutes);

    The Body was taken to the hospital and I could hear the Doctors saying that It had to be admitted in Emergency ward as It was low in Sodium;

    It was ,in its hands ,inserted the IV Needle;

    Then I became ,’ I’

    Sri Vidya is a highly revered and intricate form of worship within the Hindu tradition. It encompasses various rituals, meditations, and ceremonies that focus on the worship of the divine goddess in her various forms. The practice is deeply rooted in ancient scriptures, and its followers often seek guidance from experienced practitioners to fully understand and engage in the rituals.

  • Female Beeja Mantra Beejaksharas Part 1

    Female Beeja Mantra Beejaksharas Part 1

    I have written a couple of articles on Mantras ,Mantra an Overview,Mantra side effects,Why many Mantras for the same problem in addition to Mantras for specific problems.

    Mantra is sound which can not be transcribed.

    The sounds are to be heard.

    However Sanskrit Language has them in written form.

    As these sounds are mystically locked, they are to be intoned correctly.

    Mantras are of three genders.

    Male, Female and Neuter.

    Beeja Mantras

    Devi represents the feminine force. There are two beejas that represent Stri sakti – “ee” and “aa”. But more so, “ee”. Some of the names of Devi like Vamakshi refer directly to “ee” beeja. That is why Sri Suktam praises the mother as “eem”, apart from “sreem”. Sri Sukta is a part of RigVeda Khila, and not the core samhita. And unlike Samhita we can see the Mantra sastra and beejas being directly mentioned.

    As Saktas take pride in saying, “i” in “Siva” is said to be Devi, without who the Lord is a corpse. This follows directly from the beeja for Sakti being “ee”. This is also why Vaishnavas take pride in saying that worshiping Vishnu is equal to worshiping Devi and Siva together: Hara + “i” = Hari. However, both Hara, Hari seem to be derived from the Bhuvaneswari beeja “Hreem”.

    Bhuvaneswari is the primal model of Sakta, with Vedic origin. She is the Aditi of Veda, the Mother of Aditya loka. This is also how She is a sibling of Vishnu/Aditya. Bhuvaneswari is the Mother and ruler of all the worlds. But by Bhuvaneswari beeja one means the one that corresponds to Aditya loka.

    “Hreem” beeja can be found in the earliest of Vedic literature. Purusha Sukta of Rig Veda says “Hreesca te Lakshmeesca patnyau” – “hreem” and Lakshmi (sreem) are the wives of Purusha. Hreem is also called lajja beeja.

    Shall write in detail.

    Though there are general Mantra for prosperity, welfare,issue specific Mantras are to be decided based on the individual’s disposition, Swabhava analysed critically.

    And this can be done by a Guru who would initiate and sets down procedures for chanting.

    And  Guru shall reach out to you if you are a passionate Seeker.

    He shall not demand anything from you and will accept what you offer.

    You need to offer to the Guru what you can for nothing should be accepted free  it binds you in Karma.

    Here I list some Beeja Mantras for academic information.

    I shall be writing on the Beeja Mantras hidden in Mantras and Slokas including the Soundrylahari and Lalitha ahranma

    Some beeja Mantras, however, may be chanted without  guru but taking Subrahmanya/Shiva/Krishna as Guru.

    devata (divinity) in different forms. An uttered Mantra is the manifestation of a more subtle sound while Mantras themselves are forms of Kundalini. Mantras may be male, female or neutral. Female Mantras are called Vidyas.

    By Mantra the sought-for (Sadhya) Devata appears, and by Siddhi therein has vision of the three worlds. As the Mantra is in fact Devata, by practice thereof this is known. Not merely do the rhythmical vibrations of its sound regulate the unsteady vibrations of the sheaths of the worshipper, but therefrom the image of the Devata appears.” (op cit) Mantras are masculine (solar), feminine (lunar) or neuter. A female Mantra is called a vidya, which means knowledge, while solar and neuter forms are called Mantras. Mantras are only such if they were first revealed by a rishi or seer. Only then do they have life, according to the tradition. A Mantra can only work if it is received from a guru who has, herself or himself, received it in an unbroken line from its first rishi. There are, however, exceptions to this, according to some tantras which prescribe methods of purification for Mantras received in dream. And, according to Mahachinachara, the Kali Mantra does not rely on the very elaborate rules usually found in the Tantras…

    Some Beeja Mantras and Devathas.
    Some Beeja Mantras.

    In describing Mantras, the different tantrik texts always give their origin or rishi as well as the metre to pronounce them. While a Mantra is divinity in sound form, a yantra is the same in geometrical form and an image the devata in gross form’

    Ganesa Devi in Mooladhara Siddhas Explain

    The process of Vaasi is difficult for people,except for those who are gifted. To solve this,Siva had advised Patanjali to simplify Vaasi and introduce a yoga practice that would elevate one to Vaasi consciousness from where Vassi Yoga will take over. Accordingly Patanjali composed Yoga Sutra ,laying emphasis on postures ,followed by Pranayama.
