I do no not know how reliable the Survey is in the absence of sample parameters.
On the basis of my personal observation the fact made out by the Survey seems true.
I have found women who have been working before marriage and who continue to work after marriage not interested in working any longer, especially after they beget a child.
They find the attention they pay to the child ,despite having a maid working full time to take care of the child,is not enough and that they need to spend more time with the child and Husband.
DINK( Double Income No Kid) works for some time and the women feel that they are caught in the process of running after something or other during work days and the week ends are spent in tying up loose ends left during the weekdays and meeting social obligations.
Add work pressure to this.
They tend to get depressed and friction between husband and wife is not uncommon.
Women find solace in taking care of Home, which is more than a full time job any way.
No doubt you lose some money in the process, but you gain Happiness.
I can say this with authority, being a Grandfather watching my children.
Story:
Bangalore: A survey by National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) reveals that there is a decline in the total labor workforce rate, especially a six percentage point drop for women since 2004-05. The number is alarming and it shows that fewer women want to work, hence increasing the dependency ratio.
