Sage Kashyapa is among the Saptha Rishis and he is the father of Devas and Asuras.

He was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu.
He wanted to meditate.
He chose a place in, what is now Kerala,in the Western Ghats Govinda Mala.
When Parashurma threw his Axe to gain land for him to live, the Axe also cleaved the Western Ghats into two,Thenamala and Vada Mala(Southern Mountain and the Northern Mountain).
The Gap between the two ranges is Palakkad,Kerala.
Kashyapa had darshan of Lord Vishnu here and requested Vishnu to stay here.
Kashyapa constructed a temple for Maha Vishnu here.
Gingelly Oil Prasada is reported to cure ailments.
