‘Eat The Hotel’ Photos Video

Incredible!

One sugar company has given a whole new meaning to midnight feasts by creating the world’s first edible hotel.

The first sweet-filled pop-up hotel opened its doors last night and two lucky residents munched their way through vanilla sponge cushions, windows and walls clad with 2,000 macaroons, a rug made from 1,081 meringues and 20 kilos of marshmallows.

The Soho-based guest house took a team of 14 cake makers more than 2,000 hours to bake and 900 hours to decorate, and was created using more than 600 kilos of sugar.

For one night only sweet-toothed guests chomped their way through windowsills built entirely from fudge and bathed in a bath filled with caramel-coated popcorn; there were even edible books on the bedside table.

With thousands of baked treats for the guests to nibble on and over 100 pieces of edible art on show across three floors and eight rooms, there’s no way the guests left the hotel feeling hungry.

The hotel was the brainchild of Tate & Lyle Sugars and was inspired by regions from around the world based on the brands eight new Fairtrade sugars.

Curated by ‘Miss Cakehead’ with the help of 14 cake artists including The Meringue Girls and Cake For Breakfast, each room was themed by a different sugar.
