Getting Aadhaar (UIDAI) Essential Documents Needed

The actual process of getting requires physical and mental stamina and donkey’s patience.

Aadhaar card.
Aadhaar card.

My experience.

I registered for Aadhar and receive the acknowledgement.

I feel s if I have climbed the Mount Everest and have returned in one piece.

You are allotted slips of paper for submission and verification.

The Forms are supposed to be issued free of cost.

What is being done in Kundalahalli, Bangalore, where I had my registration done, one is issued with one form and if he needs for his Family members, it has to be photocopied.

Incidentally the shopkeeper charges Rs.ten per form!

I understand from the shopkeeper he gives three rupees per for to the officials!

Only 150 slips are issued.

Out of  four systems only two work.

I checked with other centers.

The personnel who operate the system can read and write English barely and even are not the local language.

On an average they complete  one application per 15 minutes, i.e. 8 per hour.

One never knows when his return will come.

In this confusion people just walk away after getting the slip and there are insufficient or absence of documentation.

The latter are turned back, naturally!

So the best bet would be to wait.

In between you have tea time, Smoking time,Lunch, snack time!

It took one whole day and the better part of next day to get the application filed in and get the acknowledgement.

This post not to whine , but to inform readers what to expect and to have proper documentation.

Four type of Documents are required and one photocopy of each has to be submitted.

Documents accepted for the issue of Aadhaar Card.

Except the Aadhaar enrolment form, you are required to take original or attested photocopies of the remaining three documents. The photocopies can be attested by any gazetted/notary officer.

Thanks for the informative post. I hope this is about the one in AECS Layout opposite to SBI. Approximately what time should I go to get a chance to get the slot ?

Yes, it does take a while to get through the process. Please do appreciate the fact that this is a behemoth of a project that covers over 1.22 billion population spread across Lakhs of cities, towns and villages. Large population is illiterate and located in remote and often inaccessible regions. The infrastructure and manpower required is huge…please do not expect that the people who are enrolling us would match up to our intellect level – it is easy to criticise and that is what we intellectuals and supremely literate people do and nothing more. What is mine and your contribution here in this game-changing initiative headed by none other than Nandan of Infosys fame.

Some of your comments are tart to say the least – e.g. why you could not download the AADHAAR form the website? I did and many in my office have done so instead of spending 10 bucks to get it photo copied.

Let us come out of our living rooms , take a break from the TV shows and breaking news channels, and do something that can make a difference around our nation.

The country has a long and difficult journey ahead. It will take decades to make a difference to the lives of the poor steeped in age-old poverty for which the lucky and privileged ones like us have done precious little.

AADHAAR is a game-changing initiative and not just a citizen-card as you and me may think.

All kudos to Nandan N for his leadership here… we need more like him for sure.

Read this post to get a feel of what I am talking about – we require a million and more barefoot soldiers in our country to start the change-process in the lives of the poor and the needy and the neglected.

I have pointed out in the post the ground level realities which need improvements, that’s all.

Information is provided to make the process easier for people to get the job done.

Please do not assume who write or point out mistakes are glued to TVs,

      Where does Nilekeni come here?

Nowhere I have claimed that Iam an intellectual nor do I have any pretension of being one.

      I hate that label.

I am a normal Man who

        My sincere apologies.

        The post is indeed informative.

AADHAAR registration process is fine…delivery requires improvement. It does take a while to complete the process as they have to enter data and complete biometrics.

Another area that makes registration slow and difficult for the AAM AADMI is that getting a slot itself is time consuming. Last week I went to HAL PO and was told that I have to come on 2nd May to get a slot itself.

I suggest a portal on the website where a page is available for an individual to himself/herself enter his/her details, get a time slot online for biometrics, doc verification, submission of hard copy of AADHAAR application and so on. They have to simply go to the allotted centre and get the registration completed without standing and waiting for hours in Queue – once for a slot and then for data capture. This way data entry is done beforehand and saves time and improves turnover and also obviates data entry errors as this is done by the individual themselves.

This may work for those who have internet connection and are a bit savvy with computers – a large population I guess can be covered here. For the poor masses, the wait, as always, may remain agonising, as they always are with the rest of their life-stories.

Again, thanks for all the information you have given here – they are indeed helpful for those looking for details here.

Thank God, we managed to get them to our complex . Finally got the card –impressive looking except the photo which they took onsite is hideous. No spelling mistakes, mercifully.

My Voter’s Card has been screwed up badly–wrong date of birth, spelling mistakes, wrong address, wrong father etc.

    SOBs.

      I met an elderly man.

He said that his card contained all the correc information , but delivered to miles away to some one with a different name!

That man came home and delivered in person.

When this was brought to the notice of the authorities, no one was willing to listen and he is moving incircles and when I told him to leave it as he got his card, he said he would like them to understand.

      Height of optimism!
