Association of Coffee Drinking with Total and Cause-Specific Mortality has conducted a Study and patterns of Habits and impact on Life has come out with the conclusion on Coffee Drinking…..
In this large prospective study, coffee consumption was inversely associated with total and cause-specific mortality. Whether this was a causal or associational finding cannot be determined from our data. (Funded by the Intramural Research Program of the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics.)
However, coffee drinkers were also more likely to smoke, and, after adjustment for tobacco-smoking status and other potential confounders, there was a significant inverse association between coffee consumption and mortality

I think this means Coffee drinking and Mortality can not be linked in an adverse way.
By ‘inverse association’ they seem to mean that Coffee Drinking slows down the onset of Death.
Is my understanding correct?
Why can’t these people write English?
Are they saying that they do not know any thing definite, couched in an arcane prose, after all these studies, to justify the grants they receive?
Now I am none the wiser.
