Technology to control impulses?-Not the correct solution.

The very dependence on Technology is addictive and harmful. We have addiction to mobiles, internet and studies are on the subject(pl.read my blogs on Health).

Controlling impulses is not good  for the individual, suppressed impulses stay at the level of the Unconsciousness and manifest themselves  in mental disorders of some kind or another.

Advisable to channelize impulses;try staying away from doing away from things you find is becoming compulsive.

Better to mange these things by mental discipline /practice.

One should try not to get shackled by fixed habits;this is detrimental to mental health.

Story:

With the new year days away, many tools are now available to help people stay in line, including a GPS-enabled app that locks down texting once a car gets rolling and a program that cuts off credit-card spending. Another device monitors your workout and offers real-time voice feedback………..

Some car owners are voluntarily using a technology developed for convicted drunk drivers – ignition locks attached to in-car breathalyzers.

Shelley Snyder, marketing coordinator for Intoxalock, said about 1.5 percent of the company’s clients are voluntary, which includes parents imposing the setup on their young drivers.

As I’ve mentioned on here several times, I have a weekly piano lesson, something I enjoy very much. On my way to my lesson, I drive by a bookstore and a game shop. On my way home from my lesson, I drive by that same bookstore and same game shop.

Every week, especially on the way home, I’m tempted to stop. I see the game shop coming up on the right and I get an impulse to stop there. I see the bookstore a little bit later on the left and I get an impulse to stop there.

Yet, almost always, I resist.
