  • Tamil Heads World Languages With Sanskrit

Recently I published an article on Sanskrit heading the world languages group.

Though the source I have cited is a highly reputable educational research oriented site, curiously Tamil the ancient language is found missing.

I belive this is deliberate to divide the Indians as Dravidians and Aryans, meaning Sanskrit.

    The Facts.

1.The Vedas have, by numerous quotes refer to Tamils, indicate that Tusks,Elephants,Spices were imported from the South, especially from the Chera Kingdom.

2.The Puranas repeatedly state that a Cheran King Perunchotru Udiyan neduncherallatha fed both the Panadava and Kaurava armies during the Mahabharata War.

3.Arjuna and Krishna married Pandyan Princesses.

4.Lord Krishna attended the Tamil Poets’ Conclave, Tamil Sangam.

5.Balarama went ona Pilgrimage to south and worshiped Parashurama and Lord Subrahmanya, called as Murugan in Tamil.

    6.Tamil has been dated ,

The archaeological finds from Attirappakkam northeast of Chennai evidences the existence of Tamils about a million years ago!

“The prehistoric period during which Lower Paleolithic settlements existed in the Tamil Nadu region has been estimated to span the period from about 1,510,000 BCE[1] until around 3000 BCE.[2] For most part of the lower Paleolithic stage, humans lived close to river valleys with sparse forest cover or in grassland environments. The population density was very low and so far only two localities of this lower Palaeolithic culture have been found insouth India. One of these is in Attirampakkam valley in the northwest of Chennai in Tamil Nadu.[3] Archaeological research has uncovered evidence of fossil remains of animals and primitive stone implements around the northern Tamil Nadu that could be dated to belong to around 3000,000 BCE.[citation needed]Humans inSouth India, belonging to the species of Homo erectus, lived in this primitive ‘old stone age’ (Palaeolithic) for quite a long time, using only crude implements such as hand axes and choppers and subsisting as hunter-gatherers“(wiki)

The Tamil History based on this, Tamil Literature,Sanskrit Literature and Arikkamedu findings,Puducherry is between   15,000 BCE to 10,000 BCE.’

    7.This is acknowledged.

8.Sage Viswamitra banished his sons to the south.

9.Lord Rama’s ancestor Satyavrata Manu, also called Vaivasvatha Manu is from the South.

10.Sage Agasthya , the giver of Tamil dates back to  5000 BC, by some accounts based on Astronomy 25000 years earlier!

3.That Time is Cyclic and the events occur in Cycles.

4.Tamil Language is as old as Sanskrit.

5..Agasthya existed around 5000 BC and around 25725 years before that.’

11.Tolkaapiyam , the oldest Tamil Grammar Book is dated, at a conservative estimate,to  3 Century BC.

12.The earlier Grammar Book Agathiyam by Sage Agastya was destroyed by a Tsunami.

13.’ The linguistic evidence suggests that Proto-South Dravidian was spoken around the middle of the second millennium BC, and that proto-Tamil emerged around the 3rd century BC. The earliest epigraphic attestations of Tamil are generally taken to have been written shortly thereafter.( wiki Tail Language)

14.As To Hitti heading the Anatolian languages,

The Inca Empire was divided into Four Regions as in Ancient Tamils, Kurinji,Mullai,Marutham, Neythal , based on Geography.

The Fifth one Palai is desert.

Considering the fact that they were following most of the customs that are similar to the Customs of Sanatana Dharma. I checked and was pleasantly surprised to find that,

The Ayar-Incas that primitive Aryan words and people came to Americaespecially from Indo-Arya by the island chains ofPolynesia. The very name of the boat in Mexico is a South Indian (Tamil) word: Catamaran.”-

The Ayar-Incas (2 Volume Set): 1. Monuments, Culture, and American Relationship; 2. Asiatic Origins-Miles Poindexter,Former US Ambassador-

The Incas celebrated the Makara Sankaranti in the South Indian Style.”

    And Hitti,

Hittite (nešili) was the language of the Hittite Empire, dated approximately 1650 to 1200 BC, which ruled over nearly all of Anatolia during that time”

Considering these facts, it is obvious that Tamil headed the Anatolian Group, based on its early date and the impact of Tamil on Hitti.

  • World Language Tree Sanskrit At The Top

I am providing the world Langauge Tree below.

Note that Sanskrit heads the list on the Right.

It may be noted that the other language groups headed by Anatolian ,followed by Hitti and others do have Tamil and Sanskrit Roots.

I shall be posting on this in detail.

My researches show that Tamil and Sanskrit head the world language groups at the top.

In other words world languages have their origins in Tamil, Sanskrit and a combination of both.

I have posted that Tamil influenced Hitti language.

    Sanskrit.

‘The Sanskrit language, whatever be its antiquity, is of a wonderful structure; more perfect than the Greek, more copious than the Latin, and more exquisitely refined than either, yet bearing to both of them a stronger affinity, both in the roots of verbs and the forms of grammar, than could possibly have been produced by accident; so strong indeed, that no philologer could examine them all three, without believing them to have sprung from some common source, which, perhaps, no longer exists; there is a similar reason, though not quite so forcible, for supposing that both the Gothic and the Celtic, though blended with a very different idiom, had the same origin with the Sanskrit; and the old Persian might be added to the same family, if this were the place for discussing any question concerning the antiquity of Persia. (Fortson, p. 9)

Sanskrit (/ˈsænskrɪt/; संस्कृतम् saṃskṛtam [səmskr̩t̪əm], originally संस्कृता वाक् saṃskṛtā vāk, “refined speech”) is the primary liturgical language of Hinduism, a philosophical language in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, and a literary language that was in use as alingua franca in the Indian cultural zone. It is a standardised dialect of Old Indo-Aryan language, originating as Vedic Sanskrit and tracing its linguistic ancestry back to Proto-Indo-Iranian and Proto-Indo-European.

    * I have deliberately left informing that Tamil ahs not been mentioned in this tree, hoping that some one will point it.

Within ten minutes, a FacebBook reader has noticed it.

Am happy that my posts ae being read carefully.

I shall be posting on the antiquiy of Tamil and its status,on par with Sanskrit.

And on Telugu and Kannada which are also ancient, with more affinity to Sanskrit.

  • Curd Pot Uri With Tamil Inscription Red Sea Port I BC

I have posted articles on the facts that,

The Tamils had a long and continuous interaction with Sanatana Dharma from the Vedic Times,

Tamil Kings were present during the Swayamvara of Damayanti,Sita and Draupadi,

Pot with Tamil Inscription I BC in Red Sea,jpg
Pot with Tamil Inscription I BC in Red Sea

    Arjuna married a Pandyan Princess,

Arjuna and Balarama were ona Pilgrimage to South India, with the latter worshiping Parashurama,

Krishna married a Pandyan princess and had a daughter by her.

Krishna attended the Tamil Sangam at Thenmadurai, whichwas later consumed bya Tsunami,

The Chera King Chearalaathan fed both the Kaurava and Pandava Army during the Mahabharata War.

    And much more.

So it is no surprise that Tamil wherever Sanatana Dharma went!

It is recorded that the Jews were the descendants of the Yadavas, Lord krishna’s Clan.

Interesting that The Jews were the descendants of the Yadavas, Lord Krishna’s Clan.

Twenty two tribes left India after the Mahabharata War.”

Now to Tamil artifact being found in Egypt.

A broken storage jar with inscriptions in Tamil Brahmi script has been excavated at Quseir-al-Qadim, an ancient port with a Roman settlement on the Red Sea coast of Egypt. This Tamil Brahmi script has been dated to first century B.C. One expert described this as an “exciting discovery.”
The same inscription is incised twice on the opposite sides of the jar. The inscription reads paanai oRi, that is, pot (suspended) in a rope net.
An archaeological team belonging to the University of Southampton in the U.K., comprising Prof. D. Peacock and Dr. L. Blue, who recently re-opened excavations at Quseir-al-Qadim in Egypt, discovered a fragmentary pottery vessel with inscriptions.
Dr. Roberta Tomber, a pottery specialist at the British Museum, London, identified the fragmentary vessel as a storage jar made in India.
Iravatham Mahadevan, a specialist in Tamil epigraphy, has confirmed that the inscription on the jar is in Tamil written in the Tamil Brahmi script of about first century B.C.
In deciphering the inscription, he has had the benefit of expert advice from Professor Y. Subbarayalu of the French Institute of Pondicherry, Professor K. Rajan of Central University, Puducherry and Professor  V. Selvakumar, Tamil University, Thanjavur.
According to Mr. Mahadevan, the inscription is quite legible and reads: paanai oRi, that is, ‘pot (suspended in) a rope net.’ The Tamil word uRi, which means rope network to suspend pots has the cognate oRi in Parji, a central Dravidian language, Mr. Mahadevan said. Still nearer, Kannada has oTTi, probably from an earlier oRRi with the same meaning.
The word occurring in the pottery inscription found at Quseir-al-Qadim can also be read as o(R)Ri as Tamil Brahmi inscriptions generally avoid doubling of consonants.
Earlier excavations at this site about 30 years ago yielded two pottery inscriptions in Tamil Brahmi belonging to the first century A.D.
Another Tamil Brahmi pottery inscription of the same period was found in 1995 at Berenike, also a Roman settlement, on the Red Sea coast of Egypt, Mr. Mahadevan said.”
Uri is a Pot which is hung by ropes to the ceiling for keeping Curds at Homes even today, especially in Brahmins Home.”
    Uri Adithal.jpg
English: this game used to play in any temple functions in Tamilnadu areas, which is called in tamil “URI ADITHAL”
Uri Adithal is a sport in Tamil Nadu  Temple Festivals when one is asked to hit a Pot filled with Money , either with eyes open or blid folded

Legend has it that Lord Krishna used to follow this method to get Curds Milk, Butter from the Home of the Yadavas.

  • Brahmin Tamil Closer To Classical Tamil

Brahmin Tamil Closer To Classical Tamil

It is a habit of self-styled rationalists like Karunanidhi  and other self styled protectors of Tamil to ridicule the Tamil  being spoken by Brahmins in Tamil Nadu.

A close examination of the Tamil being spoken by Tamil Nadu, reveals Brahmins is closer to Classical Tamil than one would imagine.

The word Tamil Nadu Brahmins  us,being ridiculed by many, is ‘Aambadayan’ meaning Husband.

    This word is actually Ahamudayan,அகமுடையான்( அகம் +உடையான்).

The word Aham /Akam denotes mind, heart.

Udayaan means one who owns it.

    1. The word Ahamudayan means one who is/owns the Home/ the heart of the woman who runs the household(Akam).

The same applies to the word Ahamudayal.

    Take the word Sattramudu, sattumadu.

The word is made of Saatru and Amudhu.

Saatru means essence and amudhu nectar.

The tasty and rich dish/soup Rasam is denoted thus. as it is difficult to prepare, may look easy and very healthy even during Ill health.

Ammanji -Name for mother’s brother’s child (a cousin) Ammanchei அம்மான்சேய்-son of Mother’s brother.

Maatuppenn-Son’s wife.In pure Tamil Ma means wealth, here it means that the Daughter in law is the one who brings wealth or who rules the wealth of the household.

Peran-Grand son, one who would make the name of the grand parent remembered

Perumal, the term used by Iyengars to denote Vishnu means , in pure Tamil, one who rules all that is to be praised.

Brahmin Tamil (Tamil: பிராமண தமிழ்) is the name for the Sanskritized version of Tamil traditionally spoken by Tamil Brahmins. The dialect, largely, uses Classical Tamil and a large variety of Sanskrit words.[1][2] According to linguist V. Balasubramaniam, Brahmin Tamil dialect is closest to the Central Tamil dialect, particularly, the variant used by Vellalars and Mudaliyars.

I shall be updating this post frequently as I recollect more words.

  • Brahmins Organized Indian Marriage System Tholkappiyar

I have often wondered who organized the Marriage System (Monogamy) in India.

Though marriage is considered to be sacred in Hinduism and has elaborate Rituals to solemnize and conduct marriages, I have not been able to find any definite information on who organized this system of marriage.

    Marriage ceremony.jpeg.
    Hindu Marriage ceremony.

I could not find the origin of marriage details from the Puranas, Vedas or Ithihasas.

All these texts glorify and explain the rituals connected with Marriage.

The first written record  on who organized marriage as a System is found in the ancient Tamil Grammar Book, Tholkappiyam, written by Tholkappiar (between 3rd century BCE and the 3rd century CE), a disciple of Sage Agasthya.

He states that the society was being ruined by indiscriminate copulation ,involving Lies, frauds.

Hence  Brahmins organized the system of marriage.

    “மேலோர் மூவர்க்கும் புணர்த்த கரணம்
    கீழோர்க்காகிய காலமும் உண்டே (1090)
    பொய்யும் வழுவும் தோன்றிய பின்னர்
    ஐயர் யாத்தனர் கரணம் என்ப (1091) Tholkappiyam.

    Here there is a rider.

Marriage as a system which was in existence for the three Varnas(மேலோர் மூவர்க்கும்) is now being set for the Fourth Varna by the Brahmins.

    Meaning of the text.

Marriage as a System, which was in existence for three varnas, is now set for the fourth varna by Brahmins
