  • US Court Issues Notice to Rajapakshe ,To Publish in TamilNet-Notice and Complaint Images.

    At last the Killer of Tamils,Mahinda Rajapakshe is being served summons to appear before a US Court for his genocide of Tamils.

    US Court Notice asking Rajapakshe to appear before the Court.
    US Court Notice.

    The complaint is available in PDF format in the Link provided.

    It took an US court to take this step .

    The Tamil Nadu Politicians who garner votes on the blood of SriLankan Tamils could and should have filed a case in India on behalf of the refugee/s living in India.

    They should have filed it in UNHURT as well .

    Well, they are bothered about perorations and stage-managed weeping to garner sympathy votes,Vaiko included.

    What is surprising is the near silence of Indian Media on this news!

    Rajapakshe is reported to be contemplating to defy court orders.

    My suggestion to SriLankans who are living abroad is to file cases in individual capacity, citing cases of kin lost,missing/dead in SriLanka, in the country where they live in.

    File cases in Scandinabian Countries,UK,France,Germany and of course US.

    File as many as possible.

    The heat on Rajapakse brothers will be immense.

    Include Rajapakshe’s brothers and Fonseka as well.

    The groundswell of Public Opinion in the world against Rjapakshe is mounting.

    This is the correct moment to act against these maniacal killers.

    For the atrocities of these butchers please read my blogs filed under Srilankan Tamils/Sri lanka.

    I have documented gory details.

    [TamilNet, Friday, 14 October 2011, 02:22 GMT]

    In a precedent setting order issued by the District Court of District of Columbia Thursday on the case against Sri Lanka’s President Rajapakse filed by three Tamil plaintiffs, Judge Kotelly authorized service by “posting the full summons and complaint on the main page of the TamilNet website,” and by publication in two Sri Lankan newspapers. Legal sources in Washington said that Rajapakse being haled into a US court to answer charges of complicity in the extra-judicial killings of plaintiffs relatives is imminent..

    Judge Kotelly in her short opinion leading to the order said, ‘[h]aving evaded service in person and refusing service under the international agreement [Hague Convention] established for the purpose of service of process on international defendants, “it is not reasonably possible or practicable to give more adequate warning” to Defendant [Rajapakse] than service by publication.                                                                                                                                                                                            http://www.tamilnet.com/img/publish/2011/10/PublicationOrder10132011.pdf

    Bruce Fein, in responding to the Court order said:

    “The District Court’s order authorizing service of the Torture Victims Protection Act Complaint and Summons on Sri Lanka’s President Rajapaksa via newspaper publication and posting on TamilNet marks a legal milestone in achieving accountability for the gruesome extra-judicial killings of innocent civilians ordered or condoned by the highest officials of the Sri Lankan government during the ethnic civil war.

    “After service is effectuated, President Rajapaksa will be compelled to respond to the Complaint’s accusations in a court of law uncompromised by partisan politics. It can be expected that President Rajapaksa will retain an army of luxury-priced lawyers to defend him, who will attempt to throw technical legal obstacles to thwart justice.                           “We urgently need all available financial and moral support to achieve victory not only for the three named Plaintiffs, but for all the victims of President Rajapaksa’s atrocities. A judgment in our favor in this case would set a precedent that would underwrite copy-cat TVPA suits by other victims of Rajapaksa endorsed or sponsored extra-judicial killings or torture.”

    Meanwhile, another Sri Lanka website run by exiled journalists said that “[a] legal expert told this website that the granting of this motion was in itself a huge victory for the Plaintiffs and perhaps an indication of the acceptance by the Courts that the Complaint is sufficiently serious with a sound legal basis that has the potential to go to term rather than crash in the early stages on preliminary objections.”                                                                                                                                http://www.globalpeacesupport.com/globalpeacesupport.com/post/2011/10/17/US-Court-authorizes-use-of-TamilNet-to-serve-Rajapakse.aspx

  • Dravida Vedas.Why there are no Vedas in Tamil?

    Some time back a friend of mine called up and asked why there are no Vedas in Tamil.

    The second query was what Dravida Vedas are.

    I informed him the details.

    Since then I have been receiving  questions of the same nature( not through him or the same source).

    The term Veda is from the Sanskrit root ‘Vid’ -To Know’

    Anything that informs is Knowledge;whether it is correct or incorrect, Right or Wrong is another matter.

    So Vedas mean knowledge.

    There is a slight difference.

    Knowledge that is eternal is classified as Absolute and Vedas impart this knowledge.

    It is called Para Vidya as opposed to worldly knowledge(of senses) which is  called Apara Vidya or transitory Knowledge.

    That Knowledge which speaks of reality is Para or Absolute Knowledge.

    This is what the Vedas speak of.

    So any knowledge that speaks of Knowledge of this nature  can be technically called Veda.

    In Tamil we have Bhakti Ilaakiyam like Thevaaram,Thiruvaasagam and Naalayira Divya Prabhandam

    While the first two extol Lord Siva, the latter is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

    They are named as Dravida Vedas in Agama Sastras.

    In  temples only Agama is followed and not Vedas.

    The reason is Vedas do not teach collective/public Worship.

    It is not a social phenomena.

    It is intensely Personal and the worship of Fire is stressed in the Vedas.

    Agama Sastra was organised by the descendants of Sage Viswamitra.

    It is said that Viswamitra banished some of his sons for questioning him on his decision to impart Knowledge to a born Panchama.

    Viswamitra declared thatVedas must be taught to any one with Charactrer,Discipline ans Aptitude along with dedication to Guru.

    The Vedas emphasize this.

    Therefore the sons were banished for not respecting the Vedas and father(Viswamitra).

    Beyond Vindhya ,it was presumed to have been occupied by barbarians.

    So Viswamitra banished his sons to the South of Vindyhas-Dravida-meaning South.

    When his sons landed in the South, instead finding a barbaric culture they found a culture(Tamil) which was equal to Vedic Culture.

    They blended the best of both.

    They also noticed that idol worship was practiced.

    They incorporated this as well.

    The wearing of Thiru mangalyam or Thali is a Tamil Concept as well as Pancha kachcha.

    Vaidika marriage is over as soon as Panikgrahanam and Sapthapathis over.

    All these were compiled by Aapasthamba which we follow to day.

    Later to counter the influence of Vedas Agama System was brought into being where Public worship, Building Temples etc was incorporated.

    However the Vedas took notice of this and followers of Aapasthamba incorporated this in Vaidiaka system as well.

    But they did not intrude into Agama Sastra.

    In every temple one would have noticed, after poojas are nearing the end they shall declare ‘Dravida vedam sandarsyami’-meaning recite Dravidian Vedas.

    For Saivites it is Thevaaram/Thiruvaasagam; for SriVaishnavaas it is Naalaairam .

    It may of interest that no Vadika is allowed by Sastra to perform abhiseka to the Murthy unless he is qualified in Agama Sastras.

    Only Gurukkal are allowed for this.

    Gurukkal do not have subsects, they have only Gothrams.

  • Foretelling Death.Symptoms.

    Agasthiyar is  an ancient seer who is believed to have formed the Tamil language.

    He is a Siddha , one who transcends time and he ,like all seers are supposed to be deathless.

    He has written a number of philosophical and medical treatises.

    I reproduce a loose translation of Sage Agasthya ( Tamil) on the Symptoms preceding death.

    Death Follows these indications in Seven Days.

    Tongue will become angry red;

    High temperature ;

    Unquenchable thirst;

    High level of perspiration;

    Severe pain all over the body;

    Astringent taste of extreme nature shall be felt.

    Death Follows in 15 Days.

    Tongue will become red and slightly swollen;

    Temperature and perspiration;

    Throat will be congested;

    Voice will change.

    Death in 2 hours.

    Hands, Chest,Nose and Ears will become cold;

    Unbearable pain in the center of the head.

    Some more signs are also given.I have omitted them for they deal with Indian system of medicine.

    But general signs are as above.

    I am reproducing the Tamil Verse.

    “நாக்குச் சிவந்து முன்பிறந்த
    நன்னீரி னிறம்போல் சிவந்திருக்கும்
    தேக்கிக் காயும் தாகமுண்டு
    தெளிந்தே வேர்வு சிகமென்னே
    ஊக்கி உடலும் நொந்திருக்கும்
    உலகோர் அறிய உரைத்தோம்
    நாம் பாக்குத் தின்னும் துவர்
    வாய் பரிந்தே நாளும் ஏலேன்னே”

    – அகத்தியர் நயன விதி –

    நாக்கு சிவத்து மூளைக் கட்டுக்கள் முள்போலத் தோன்றி இரத்தம் போலச் சிவந்திருக்கும், காய்ச்சல் குறையாமல் தகிக்கும், அளவுக்கதிகமான தாகம் இருக்கும், உடல் வியர்க்கும் , உடல் முழுதும் வலிப்பது போல் இருக்கும் , பாக்கு தின்பது போல நாக்கில் துவர்ப்புச்சுவை தெரியும், இந்த அறிகுறிகள் தெரிந்தால் ஏழு நாளில் உயிர் துறப்பார்கள் என்று உலகத்தவர்கள் தெரிந்துகொள்ள சொல்கிறேன்.

    “சிவேத சிவக்கச் சுரமுண்டாம்
    சிதற வேர்வை மறுமையுண்டு
    நீத நாக்கு பசுத்து முள்ளு
    நிறைந்தே வெடித்து ரோகமுண்டாம்
    ஓதத்தத் தொண்டை நேரிகுரலாம்
    ஒளிசெர்நாளும் பதினைந்தாம்
    நாதப் பண்சொல் மொழிமடவாய்
    நாடிக் கொள்வாய் நாள்குறியே”
    – அகத்தியர் நயன விதி –

    உடல் சிவந்து காணப்படும் சுரம் உண்டாகி , வியர்வை பெருகும், நாக்கு நிறம் மாறி முள் போல் முளைகள் நிறைந்து வெடித்து காணப்பட்டு அதிக வேதனை தரும், தொண்டை இறுகி குரல் மாறிவிடும், நாத மொழி பேசும் பெண்ணே இந்த அறிகுறிகள் கண்டால் பதினைந்து நாளில் மரணம் என்று அறிந்து கொள்.

    “எண்ணியஅவத்தை சொல்வேன்
    இனியகை மார்பும் மூக்கும்
    நண்ணிய செவியினோடு
    நலம்பெற குளிர்ந்து காட்டி
    திண்ணமா உச்சி யங்கி
    யாயிடிச் சிலேத்தும மோடி
    மண்ணினிக் கடிகை ஐந்தில்
    மரணமேன்றறிந்து சொல்லே”

    – அகத்தியர் நயன விதி –

    கை, மார்பு, மூக்கு, காது, முதலான உறுப்புக்கள் குளிர்ந்து காணப்படும், உச்சந்தலையில் இடி இடிப்பது போல வலி ஏற்படும், சிலேத்தும நாடி மிகுந்து ஓடும் இவ்வகை அறிகுறிகள் காணப்பட்டால் இந்தப் புவியில் ஐந்து நாழிகையில் மரணம் என்று அறிந்துகொள்.

    “அறிந்தபின் மமர்ந்து வாத
    சிலேத்தும மதிக மாகில்
    நிறைந்தோர் வார்த்தை தானும்
    நேர்பட வெடிப்பாய் பேசும்
    சிறந்திடு முகம்வெளுத்து
    மார்ப்பது குடில்போல் சென்றால்
    மறந்தனார்க்கடி கைதொண்ணுறா
    மளவிலே மரண மெய்யே”
    – அகத்தியர் நயன விதி –

    பித்த நாடி அடங்கி வாத சிலேத்தும நாடிகள் அதிகரிக்குமானால், நல்ல மொழிகளைப் பேசும் நிலையில் இருப்பவர் வார்த்தைகள் சீற்றத்தோடு அதாவது கோபமானவையாக இருக்கும், முகம் வெளுக்கும், மார்பானது குழல் போல் குறுகும், இத்தகு அறிகுறிகள் தோன்றினால் தொண்ணூறு நாழிகையில் மரணம் என்று அறிந்துகொள்.

  • Srilanka-Tamil Drowned in violent Police attack,Video.

    If this is not State sponsored terrorism,what else is?

    A 26-year-old man with mental health problems drowned during an attack by three policemen in October. The scene was caught on camera; resulting in the arrest of the officers involved. But two months later, and the men are yet to be sentenced.

    Police received a complaint about Balawarnam Sivakumar, a mechanic and ethnic Tamil from the town of Ratmalana, south of Colombo, on the morning of Oct. 30 2009. He was said to have been throwing stones at trains and dancing by the road, semi-naked, in a threatening manner in Bambalapitiya, a suburb of the capital.

    The police say that when they tried to arrest him, he threw stones at them and then ran into the sea. The policemen were joined by two civilians in threatening Sivakumar with large sticks; one of them hitting him. Sivakumar is seen begging the officers to let him come ashore, but after continued attacks he retreats into the water and shortly afterwards is seen floating lifelessly.

    The footage, filmed by an off-duty cameraman who happened to be in a building on the coastline, also shows dozens of onlookers on the shore. On Nov. 1, after the video had been handed over to the local press, the three officers involved were arrested. The identification parade which would lead to their trial however has been repeatedly postponed, most recently after the death of one of the suspects on Jan. 1.

    This story became an embarrassment for the police”

    X, who wishes to remain anonymous, is a member of Europe-based activists “Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka“. He says he spent 17 years working for Sinhalese publications before being exiled, along with dozens of others, for reporting “wrongly” on the war against the Tamils.

    I don’t think the police, who, incidentally, were Sinhalese [80% of police officers in Sri Lanka are Sinhalese] knew that Sivakumar was Tamil until he started shouting in the sea. At that point, they would have realised immediately – most Tamils have strong accent when speaking Sinhalese. We can’t say that they were particularly brutal because he was Tamil. However, there are some observations which I find concerning.

    Around three months ago there was another case of police brutality; two men were shot at point blank range in Colombo. When those youths, who were Sinhalese, were attacked by the police, the surrounding public responded very differently. They tried to attack the police and protect the youths. When Sivakumar was attacked however, the public not only stood and watched, but also helped the police; two of them joining the officers in the sea, and according to local news reports, others fetching the sticks with which the officers threatened him.

    Even the compensation was different. The families of the Sinhalese boys shot by police received one million rupees [€6,000], whereas Sivakumar’s family received only 100,000 rupees [€600].

    You’d think that the police would have realised Sivakumar was mentally unstable. Seeing as he was trying to stop the traffic by dancing in his underwear, I find it unlikely that they perceived him sane.

    It’s only because of the video evidence that this story became an embarrassment for the police. Before the video emerged the local press reported that ‘a person jumped into the sea in trying to escape the police and drowned’. It would have ended there, save for the video, which couldn’t be ignored. They are going to take their time in trying the policemen. One of them died of a heart attack at the beginning of January, leaving only two remaining.

    At a preliminary hearing in December only one of the four or five eye witnesses called to bear witness said they believed the police were in the wrong. The others said that they would like to see them pardoned; that Sivakumar’s death was inevitable; that the police weren’t trying to hit him, but just scare him. I’m not optimistic. History proves that when it’s the police against Tamil civilians, the police usually win. I’m pretty sure they’ll get off scott free.

    -[TamilNet, Tuesday, 14 December 2010, 22:20 GMT]
    The Government of Sri Lanka is alleged to have been involved in crippling the business activities of the Tamil traders in Jaffna peninsula to make way for the Sinhalese to capture it, Jaffna traders who have been subjected to harassment by officers from Criminal Investigation Department of Colombo Police.

    A team of intelligence officers from Colombo was interrogating the traders in Jaffna during the first week of December at the office of the traders association in Jaffna alleging the traders of financial dealings with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in the past.

    The CID has thereafter summoned 20 leading traders to Colombo for further interrogations at the Fourth Floor of the CID headquarters, traders in Jaffna said.

    The CID team before leaving to Colombo had also warned the Jaffna Traders’ Association that it would return to conduct another round of interrogation.

    Already a leading Tamil businessman in Jaffna was taken to Colombo and was being detained there.

    Officials of the Jaffna Traders Association expressed fear that the veiled threats and harassments by the CID were tactics aimed at making inroads for southern businessmen. After military subjugation and development subjugation, Colombo was now engaged in economic subjugation of the business elite of the Tamils in key cities of the Tamil homeland, the traders said.

    The three SL government-sponsored pogroms of 1958, 1977 and 1983 were mainly aimed at crippling Tamil trade in the south, especially in Colombo.
