Well, now A Siva temple and The temple Tank went missing in Madurai,Tamil Nadu. A group of lawyers have filed a complaint with M.S.Colony Police Station,Anna Nagar, Madurai that Kalak koil Siva temple ,along with the temple tank,which was located near the Railway gate, opposite Kennet Hospital, ( near Madurai Periyar Bus Stand)

The temple was under HR and CE Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.The Siva temple and the Temple tank was known as ‘valaiveesi teppakulam'( Tank where the fishnet is cast’.
Every year preceding the Corona Pandemic , a festival will be celebrated with Siva casting a net to catch fish, enacting a scene from Puran( Thiruvilayaadal Puranam).Siva and Madurai Meenakshi will enact the scene.
Now the temple,Tank and idols are all missing .
It transpires that it was under the Kattalaithaarar,people who have been given the privilege of conducting the festival,have usurped the land and started constructing activities.HRCE filed a case and the Kattalaithaarar had now withdrawn their petition in the High Court.The idols are missing and case is on.

தெப்பக்குளம் மற்றும் அருகில் உள்ள 1.81 ஏக்கர் பரப்பளவு கொண்ட இடத்தில் இருந்த காளக்கோயிலை மீட்கும் முயற்சியில் ஹிந்து சமய அறநிலையத்துறை இறங்கியது. அதேசமயம் இந்த இடத்தில் சிலர் கட்டுமான பணியை துவக்க முயன்றனர். ‘நிலத்தை எங்களிடம் ஒப்படைக்க வேண்டும். இல்லாவிடில் சட்ட நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும்’ என அவர்களுக்கு கோயில் நிர்வாகம் நோட்டீஸ் அனுப்பியது.
இதை எதிர்த்து அவர்கள் உயர்நீதிமன்ற மதுரை கிளையில் ‘ரிட்’ மனு தாக்கல் செய்தனர். நேற்றுமுன்தினம் விசாரணையின்போது மனுவை அவர்கள் வாபஸ் பெற்றனர். இதனால் 1.81 ஏக்கர் கோயில் நிர்வாகம் பராமரிப்பில் வருமா என கேள்வி எழுந்துள்ளது.

I have written on the presence of Siva Worship in the South of Vindhyas much earlier than the Vedas. Siva Avatar details are found in South in Thiruvilayadal purana.These Avatars had taken place in Madurai and the areas around it. One may mention that the name Madurai is from the earlier name Madurai Moodur. Moodur on Tamil means quite ancient.This is probably due to the fact that that there was Thenmadurai,which existed long time ago. Chola Kings are not to be left behind. One finds a similar 3D Siva Linga in Thiruvanaikka near Srirangam. This temple is one of the Panchabootha Sthalas. Here Siva is present as Water. You will find Siva Linga in water. Temples in India are not only a place for Spiritual development but they were also for social purposes like feeding the poor during Drought,Floods and for providing shelter during natural calamities.Not only this, these temples were architectural marvels but they were also built with advanced instruments of which we know not much, but these temples were also designed with astronomy in mind. Thus we have Sun’s rays falling at the feet of the Idol on a particular time of the day, five times a day, where shadow doesn’t fall despite in the Sun…. I have written many articles on this.

Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai,Tamil Nadu is dedicated to Devi as Meenakshi and Her Consort,Siva as Somasundara. This temple has many unique features including the fact that the One thousand pillared hall’s replica is found in Central America.
Madurai Meenakshi Amman temple is built on the basis of Axis Tilt,Vastu Sastra and also aligning the Temple with Solar Movement.
The temple has four towers, Gopurams. They are atleast 45 metres in height. Yet, you can see the Sunrise and Sunset from the Centre of the temple.The reason is that it is built at an angle of 23 and a half degrees coinciding with the axis of earth. Other temples are built without an angle with respect to rising and setting of the Earth’s Axis. This temple is built very straight to north and south. ‘It was just before 500 years that Galileo discovered that the Earth’s rotational axis is tilted at an angle of 23.5 degree to the ecliptic plane. There is a report that High court had observed that Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple has a Chakra called Bhugol Chakra,Circle of Geography,that describes the ozone layer in the atmosphere.The report.
The National Green Tribunal today rapped the Ministry of Environment and Forests for suggesting that ozone depletion is an international issue and asked its officials to visit Meenakshi Temple in Madurai to learn that India was aware of the ozone layer more than 700 years ago.
“Do you have any idea when did India became aware of the ozone layer and its significance? India was one of the first countries to know about the significance of ozone layer and the proof can be found in the more than 700 years old ‘Bhugol Chakra’ at the Meenakshi Temple,” a bench headed by NGT chairperson Swatanter Kumar said.
The green panel asked MoEF officials to visit the temple and check the “Bhugol Chakra” to know about the ozone layer which is a belt of naturally occurring ozone gas that sits 15 to 30 km above earth.
“You will find that even before 700 years, India was aware of the ozone layer. The ‘Bhugol Chakra’ has mentioned the significance of ozone and the ways how to protect it,” the panel said.
My ancestors are from Madurai and I have been in Madurai and visiting the temple quite often. The reference by the court is unclear. The chakra that is mentioned has nothing connected to Ozone layer. The Learned judge should clarify. There is no reference to Ozone layer as such to my knowledge of Ithihasas,Purans and in ancient Tamil literature.
