Poompuhar Founded Eleven Thousand Years Ago?

Now comes the tough part in determining the Timeline for Kaveri River. From Chola Copperplates evidence of Thiruvalankadu and the genealogical table by the Purans,it becomes evident that Cauvery River was brought to earth by Chitradhanvan Chola, emulating his ancestor Bhagirath who brought Ganga River to Earth. This would place Cauvery River timeline and consequently date of Poompuhar to Treata Yug,which is atleast a 900,000 years ago( We are in Kaliyug now; Dwapar Yug preceded this lasting for 8,64,000 years).

However, dating of Ramayana places it around 5114 BC, that is about Seven thousand years ago.

The conundrum is because of Time being Cyclic and not Linear.

The origin of Kaveri river is associated with Sage Agastya and it was brought to earth by him.We find references to Agastya ,apart from references to him in Puran, Vedas,is mentioned in Vedas. He imparted Adhitya Hruday stotra to Sri Rama to shrug of his depression when Lakshmana was felled by Ravana’s Mohanastra. Agastya is reported to have come down south . This time frame is validated by Star Canopus, Agastya Nakshatra visibility in the southern hemisphere. And Ramayana lists over Thirty Rivers.

Our minds do not accept such vast scale of Time. Can we then ,place Cauvery River and Poompuhar date around 7000 years ago.

But we have archeological evidence from Poompuhar that Poompuhar to support a date of around atleast 11,000 years ago.

So as a compromise, we may assign the Date of Cauvery River to atleast 11000 ago?

Now, Indra Vizha celebrated in Poompuhar also supports this timeline because Uparichara Vasu was a Chola King who ruled Chedi Kingdom and was a friend of Indra. Indra is reported to have given him Bamboo Pole.

Uparichara Vasu was a king of Chedi belonging to the Puru Dynasty. He was known as the friend of Indra. During his reign, Chedi kingdom had a good economic system and contained much mineral wealth, which made a lot of merchants around the world, come to the Kingdom. It was abundant in animals and corn. There were many towns and cities in the kingdom. He possessed a very special chariot. He introduced a festival in his kingdom in the honour of Indra. The festival involved planting of a bamboo pole every year, in honour of Indra. The king will then pray for the expansion of his cities and kingdom. After erecting the pole, people decked it with golden cloth and scents and garlands and various ornaments.

    Chedi Kingdom

Indra Vizha , Festival was celebrated with great pomp in Poompuhar. Failure to conduct it had resulted in a great Tsunami consuming Poompuhar, Tamil Sangam Classics, including Silappadikaram aver.

So this shall place Poompuhar being intact before Kaliyug that is Chola Perunarkilli , who is recorded to be the first Chola King in Kaliyug.

Hence ,it is safer to postulate the date of Poompuhar to about 11000 years ago.

Cholavarman’s son was Rajakesarivarman and Rajakesarin’s son was Parakesarin (vv. 30 and 31).  These two names were used as titles alternately by the Chola kings in the order of their coronation (v. 32).  Parakesarin’s son was Chitraratha; his son was Chitrasva and his son, Chitradhanvan (v. 33).  It is stated that this last king Chitradhanvan brought into his dominions the river Kaverakanyaka, i.e., Kaveri, just as Bhagiratha brought into the earth Ganga, the river of the gods (v. 35).( Chitradhanvan was an ancestor of Sri.Rama and therefore Kaveri was in flow during Ramayana)

Sixteen Emperors of India Mahabharata List Chola Among Them

History of ancient India is very interesting and it would need patience and perseverance to go through the volumes upon volumes left by our ancestors in the form of Puran, Ithihasa and Sthala Puran. Added to this are the texts in Regional languages of India, like Tamil, Telugu, Bengali. Then there are temple Epigraphs.Despite all this, people say India did not historical records!

Though many dynasties had been in India, two dynasties,Surya, Solar and Chandra,Lunar Dynasties are the ones from which all others have sprung .This includes Ancient Tamil Kings Chola,Andhra Kings.

The Chola Emperor mentioned as one of the sixteen, Shodasa,is Sibi also called as Usunira Vasu.

First Emperors were also from India. Mahabharat gives a list of sixteen( Shodasa) Chakravarthins.

‘When the Rajasuya Yagya was conducted by Yudhishthira, rishi Vaishampayana described to him a list of 16 Samrats who had lived before the Mahabharata era. The list occurs in Mbh (12.29) and is called Shodasha Rajika or a list of 16 kings.

Pallavas From Turvasu Dushyant Puru Dynasty, Cholas Cousins

When I search for the lineage of Kings from South of Vindhyas, i come across information that is startling in terms of its historic value and also how the records in the South in the form of Epigraphs agree with records found in Puran, Ramayana and Mahabharata: and Harivamsa of Kalidasa and Rajatharangini of Kalhana.

I had traced the genealogy of Cholas to Ikshvaku. In the process I was able to identify the Chola Kings of Treta Yug , Dwapara and Kaliyug. I shall be tracing the genealogy y Pandyas and Cheras shortly.

We have more dynasties in South which are ancient. One of them is the Pallava Dynasty to which Mahendra and Mamalla/ Narasimha Pallava belong. These are the kings who have built the wonder that is Mahabalipuram Cave temples.

It is believed that Simha Vishnu founded this dynasty.

Fact is that the Pallava Dynasty was founded by Marutta.( Turvasu Dynasty) ‘Marutta adopted Duṣyanta as his son because Maruttaa had no sons. ( Dushyant a was a King of the Pūru dynasty, .(Bhāgavata, 9th Skandha,) Dushyant’s son was Bharath’ after whom India is named as Bharat.

    1. Marutta(2) gave his daughter to Dushyanta Paurava and She begot Sarutta who succeeded his maternal Grandfather.
    2. Daughter of Marutta raised her son Sarutta who became the king of Sindhu Kingdom.
    3. Sarutta

    5. Kulya (Prince of Andhra and whose descendants were Pallavas and Tondai Kings),SaruttaAndhra (founder of Andhra Kingdom) and Mleccha (Raised Mlechha dynasties)
    6. Kulya (Prince of Andhra and whose descendants were Pallavas and Tondai Kings), Chola (Founder of Chola Kingdom and Dynasty), Pandya (Founder of Pandya Kingdom and Dynasty), Kerala (Whose descendants were Cheras) – Because of these kings Dravida Country (Tamil and Sanskrit are the two eyes of this country) was developed.

In his family was born Dushyanta; his son was Bharata and his son was Chola after whose name the Solar race on this earth became known as Chola’ Thiruvalankadu Copperplates

Turvasu’s (the second son of King Yayati) descendants were called Mlecchas (who ruled in Balochisthan) as per Srimad Bagavatha Mahapurana and Dravidas (who ruled in South India). The following kings were the disciples of Sage Agastya (Developed Tamil language and created Kaveri River with the help of Lord Ganesha). He ruled Southern side of Bharatkhand.

    1. Turvasu (Contemporary to Suryavanshi King Dundhumara)
    2. Marutta(1) was defeated by Ravana in a duel. (Contemporary to Suryavanshi King Mandhatri, Demon Ravana and Lord Parashurama)

Muchukunda Chozha Ruled From North Western India with Mandhata

In my earlier articles I wrote about the Chozha Kings and their genealogy. The Chozhas declare themselves to be from Ikshvaku Dynasty and have recorded this in Thiruvalankadu Copperplates.

When we check the genealogy of Ikshvaku Dynasty, we find that Muchukunda, though shown in the dynasty, did not become a king after his father Mandhata.

When we compare the list ,that is as mentioned by Cholas and by Sanskrit texts as Ikshvaku Dynasty, we find that Muchukunda Chozha did not come to power after Mandhata. Mandhata is succeeded by his son Purukutsa I.The reason is that Mandhata married a Yadava princess and of her was born Muchukunda.

(Yuvanashwa Father of Mandhata https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/MandhatriSpouse-Bindumati Chaitrarathi-

    Children-Purukutsa, Ambarisha and Muchukunda)

Mandhata married Bindumati Chaitrarathi, daughter of Yadava king Shashabindu and granddaughter of Chitraratha.

As Muchukunda did not succeed Mandhata in the lineage as shown in Ikshvaku Dynasty list it is because Mandhata’s son Muchukunda was through the Yadava princess Chaitrarathi.

Muchukunda , it may be theorised that he ruled the area ruled by Mandhata who is the first recorded Chakravarthi in Indian texts, Shodasha Rajika , Great Emperors ‘Mandhata on assuming power organized a strong army and led a series of expedition against his neighbouring kingdoms. The rulers of Kashi and Maithila and his uncle Tansu, the ruler of Prathisthan accepted his suzerainty. Other important rulers whom Mandhata vanquished were Janmejaya the king of Anavas, the Yadava king Sasabindu of Mahishamati and Marutta a king described as one of the five great emperors of ancient India and ruling over territory around North West India. The Asura kingdoms of Varshikha and Narmani were also subdued. Mandhata had a long war with the Druhyu king Angara who ruled over Punjab and finally killed him and conquered his kingdom. Angara’s son Gandhara accepted the suzerainty of Mandhata, moved towards North-West (Afghanistan) and gave his name to that region.https://ithihas.wordpress.com/2017/10/15/mandhata-the-first-samrat-of-ancient-india/

His other brother Ambareesa was married to Yadav dynasty, which is a sub division of Puru Dynasty (aka Chandra vansh or Lunar Dynasty) .And Muchukunda Chozha Ruled along with his father Mandhata North and North Western Provinces of present India.
