I have written on the history of Tamils quite a few articles and about their homeland being Lemuria and the surrounding area MU.
This landmass is about 230 Million Years old and it was much more ancient than Himalayas which was formed only about 40lakh years ago.
In terms of antiquity, Lemuria is older.
And the civilization preceded Vedic period.
Here I got stuck.
If Lemuria civilisation is more ancient, then how come it refers to Vedas?
Possible answer is, Vedic period could have flourished later than Lemuria and when Vedic people came to know of the Lemuria civilisation, they started quoting it.
Or it could be the other way around.
More information is needed.
Puranas record Dravidas as Dasyus.
And Viswamitra banished his sons to Dravida Desa.
Probably,the Contact was established then.
And this landmass was located off the northwest of present Australia.
One must keep in mind that the landmass during ancient times was different.
Please read my posts on Lemuria, Kumarikandam,Rodina, Pangaea, Sundaland and Atlantis.
The present Sri Lanka, which is about 13 KM’s by sea from Vedaranyam,Tamil Nadu is not the Sri Lanka mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana.
(Yet we find remains of Ramayana era are found there; an trying to figure it out.).
Valmiki mentions the distance from where Hanuman left for Lanka is about 800 Miles or 100 Yojanas.
So the Lanka of Ramayana lay somewhere near Indonesia region.
This fits with Lemuria landmass.
Sri Lanka had its first King, Vijaya.
He was of Maurryan Dynasty.
He established the Tambhabanni Kingdom in Sri Lanka.
Thambhabanni is the ancient name given by Non Tamils to River Tamirabharani, which flows even now in Thirunelveli District,Tamil Nadu, India.
River Tamirabharani flowed in Lemuria.
Taking these facts together,it can be surmised that
SRI Lanka was a part of Lemuria, and
Its first King Vijaya was from Maurya Dynasty.

This means the present date of Maurryan Dynasty needs a look into.
