In Vitro Fertilization IVF Malpractices

Child birth in an area which is proving to be lucrative for Doctors.

Causes for Infertility

You are advised to undergo Natural delivery.

But the message is delivered skilfully to make you go in for Caesarian.

What has been normal  about  50 years ago has become a cause for tension while Doctors pay lip service to Natural delivery.

You are advised to take all sorts of Pills, especially Iron and calcium.

Nobody tells you that excess consumption of Iron gets thrown out and excess Calcium weakens the bones.

Simple procedure is to take natural foods like Greens,Dates, Pomegranate .

You would be surprised at the Doctor advising you of ‘ some concern  about the Baby’ as your delivery date nears;he would skilfully manipulate you for Caesarian.

This post is about malpractices in Infertility treatment, but I could not resist about mentioning what is being practiced for normal pregnancy.

Today a Normal delivery costs anywhere between  25, 000 to Rupees one lakh!

Now to Malpractices in Infertility treatment.

1.

is only required when there is no uterus and donor eggs are required when the ovaries have either stopped functioning or have been removed. But, as both these procedures add to the costs, doctors recommend them even when they are not necessary. For example, a woman may need just one prescription of drugs for

Rs 1,500, but she is sold surrogacy for lakhs of rupees. This kind of prognosis plays on the stigma associated with an infertile woman.

2.Secondly, infertility doctors often do not have adequate training in the hardware and software required for ivf. There are no checks and balances such as accreditation. In India, any mbbs graduate can do it without any training. Thus, any doctor can open an infertility clinic.

3.Thirdly, malpractices are encouraged by kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies. If a doctor prescribes hormones costing between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5 lakh in one cycle, he gets up to 60 percent of that amount from the pharma company. A doctor makes money by prescribing drugs to patients. That is why they often prescribe over-dosages. The child may never be born, but the doctor will make money. A drug company promotes hormone injections like toothpaste or any other non-medical product. The more a drug is prescribed, the more profitable it is for both the company and the doctors.’

The issue becomes even more complicated when the Patient Googles, finds some results, gets  confused and forces the doctor to prescribe and procedures even more.

Be careful in choosing a doctor who is not greedy and who cares for patients.

There are many around still.

Mind you there are not costly .

Please avoid specialty Hospitals, especially the Five Star Hotels, sorry Hospitals.

I will say knowledge is power. Worse than ignorance is ignorance of limitation of own knowledge. Both Treating believing whole health care industry is fraud and Doctor as GOD is two sides of same coin. that is ignorance. Being skeptical is good but cynical is insane and leads to danger.
      Needs of the hour are:
      1) attitude of quest for knowledge or trying to learn desperately
      i) One should know What science is . One should aware of methods and principles of science. Limitation of science especially through its empirical
      foundation.
ii) One should develop scientific attitude . (https://image.slidesharecdn.com/scientificattitude-141215223938-conversion-gate01/95/dacota-blue-scientific-attitude-3-638.jpg?cb=1418683249)
2)Being Objective. While encountering the problem without getting into emotion analyse the merits and demerits . take all chances into account while analyzing
3)Find a General Physician who you trust(trust came from your knowledge and objective analysis) and keep consult him for whole family for health concerns.
4)Always think Doctors as Service provider and be aware of rights of consumers in health care industry
5)make it as a movement with family and friends. Share health stories and experiences with health care providers.
Fortunately i have not encountered unethical doctors. But this write up contains alarmingly misinformation.
a small note : Daily Requirement of iron for male is 8mg and for female 18mg. SO 100g of dates contains 1.02g of iron which is roughly 8% of daily requirement. To meet 30% you have to eat 400g of dates. Interpretation is dates cannot used for at least one third of iron requirement practically. Based on bio availability for vegetarians sesame seeds and cumin seeds are good source of iron. as vegetarian iron are non heme iron Vitamin C is needed to absorb maximum iron into body
