Which Veda Shaka Sutra To Follow For Gotras
As to the methods, though in essence the same, there are minor differences in detail so that people of different dispositions may follow. Hinduism understands that there are as many dispositions as are Human Beings, they have tried to suit the groups these texts to suit the groups which have common dispositions. Each Veda has four parts. Samhitas are hymns addressed to Gods. The Samhitas and the Brahmanas form the Karma-Kanda segment of the Vedas. They are concerned with the ceremonial rites and rituals. Aranyakas are concerned more with knowledge ,Gnana and this is mainly for the semi retired from day to day activities. These are the basics of Gotra, Shaka and Sutra link. If one finds it difficult,one may trace them if they have any of the three, that is Gotra, Shaka, Sutra.

Why Rama Uses Brahmin Rishis In Gotra Pravara
He recites the names of Brahmin Rishis as his ancestors in His Pravara? Why? Lord Rama’s Gotra/Pravara is this. ‘ Yajur vEDa Saakhaa adhyaayinE, VaasishTa, MaitraavruNa KouNDinya trayaarishEya Prvaraanvita, VasishTa….Note how meticulously he uses the term Varma , indicating that He is a Kshatriya. Brahmins must use the term Sarma, Kshatriyas Varma and Vaisyas Gupta after their Names in Pravara.

Relevant portions of the Vedic Duties which would suit the individual’s disposition and also a group with the same disposition were organised and presented as Smritis. There are quite a few number of Smritis to be followed . Though all the Smritis state from the Vedas, and each one of them is an authority for all the Varnas, it is traditional for some groups to follow a specific Smriti…Kashtriyas, Vaisyas and Sudras are to follow Manu Smriti. Though Brahmins are expected to follow Manu Smriti, it is traditional to follow eleven Smritis, including Manu Smriti.
