    Prana Nadis Yoga Link Explained

There is a lot of information on Nadis, as used Indian philosophy. There is Nadi associated with Patanjali Yoga,Prana,Hatha Yoga,Vaasi Yoga and Shatkarma. It is also mentioned in connection with Nadi Reading in Future prediction.

And all this is connected to Self Realisation. And Prana.Let us try to understand the concept on detail.

Indian philosophy is based on experience and such experiences as are found have led seekers towards Realisation of Brahman,Reality are compiled and presented in the Form of Vedas and also through as systems of philosophy.

Vedas are called as Sabda pramana, Testimony. It is a tool of knowledge. There are many sources of knowledge,Perception, Inference,Comparison,Testimony, Intuition.Of these, Vedas come under Testimony. In life , one has to depend on Testimony of others as a source of knowledge at some point of time. Vedas are such sources that provide you the Testimonies of seekers of Reality. You can follow them if they suit you.It is your choice.

Some prefer other sources of knowledge like Perception and other sources listed above. In experience, one finds one single source of knowledge does not seem to help in Self Realisation . More than one source of knowledge is needed.

All these relate to things that are external. We have our senses through which we come to know, experience. There are five sense organs,Eyes,Ears,Nose,Mouth,Skin. Each of these contribute one aspect of experience.Nose, Smell; Mouth, speech;Taste;Eyes, seeing;Skin, Touch .Ears, hearing. These Five are called Karmendriya, Organs of Action. In addition, we have five Organs of knowledge, corresponding to each Karmendriya. These Five are called Gnanendriyas.I shall devote an article on the difference between Karmendriya and Gnanendriya.

Knowledge Is out of the interaction between the senses and what we find out of ourselves, out in the world. These are known to us through the tools of knowledge like Perception…

How correct, incorrect or How Right or Wrong this knowledge is another matter. That forms a separate topic.

Assume that such knowledge is true. We shall proceed Such knowledge as we gain through the senses and the tools of knowledge we have, of things out there are ‘Is’.

Such knowledge is received by our Brain- Mind – Intellect – Chitha ( it is on a higher plane than Intellect, which we call Buddhi). Brian received sensory inputs and it does not add any judgement to what has been received. It is just like CPU, receives input without starting to process . Mind connects the dots and forms One full picture of Information. Then Intellect decides whether the information is factual : Right or Wrong. That is, Intellect passes Factual,Value judgements. The particular interpretation of same sensory inputs by each one of us differently is decided by Chitha. Chitha is directed by dispositions of individuals and dispositions are, in turn, influenced by Karmic particles, which are the results of actions performed by us,either physically, mentally, and by words. Or by all the three.

These three processes are linked though a single factor. It is called Prana,Life Energy.Prana is the life force running through every cell of our body. It is Life. Difficult to separate one from another so much so both are considered to be the same.

Subtle Boy showing three Nadis A simplified view of the subtle body of Indian philosophy, showing the three major nadis or channels, the Ida (B), Sushumna (C), and Pingala (D), which run vertically in the body.

This Prana is considered to be the Individual Soil. Some philosophers differ on this, especially Adi Shankaracharya.

This Prana flows in the body as Nadis. It is also considered as an attribute of Prana. With this background, let us look at Nadis.

Nadis are generally quantified at 72,000 in Human body. ( Chidambaram Nataraja temple roof had 72000 ‘

The sanctum sanctorum housing the Nataraja statue is called the Chit Sabha or Ponnambalam. The five pillars of the Chit Sabha indicates the five senses. The roof of this Sabha contains 9 kalasas depicting the 9 dwaras (gateways) in the human body (namely 2 eyes, 2 nostrils, 2 ears, mouth, rectum, genitals). The roof has 22600 tiles denoting the number of times a person can breathe in a day. The tiles are fixed to the roof using 72000 nails depicting the number of nadis (

‘Nadi is an important concept in Hindu philosophy, mentioned and described in the sources, some as much as 3,000 years old. Human body is claimed to have up to hundreds-of-thousands and even millions. The Shiva Samhita treatise on yoga states, for example, that out of 350,000 nadis 14 are particularly important, and among them, the three just mentioned are the three most vital. The three principal nadis are idapingala, and sushumnaIda (इडा, iḍā “comfort”) lies to the left of the spine, whereas pingala (पिङ्गल, piṅgala “orange”, “tawny”, “golden”, “solar”) is to the right side of the spine, mirroring the ida. Sushumna (सुषुम्णा, suṣumṇā “very gracious”, “kind”) runs along the spinal cord in the center, through the seven chakras. When the channels are unblocked by the action of yoga, the energy of kundalini uncoils and rises up the sushumna from the base of the spine.

The nadis play a role in yoga, as many yogic practices, including shatkarmas, mudras and pranayama, are intended to open and unblock the nadis. The ultimate aim of some yogic practices are to direct prana into the sushumna nadi specifically, enabling kundalini to rise, and thus bring about moksha, or liberation.’Source . Wikipedia

  • Leaving Body At Will Video Rainbow Body Explanation

The Eastern systems of philosophy consider Human body to be a case for the soul. Human body is made up of the Five Elements of Nature, Earth,Water,Fire,Air and Space.Prithvi, Appu,Agni, Vayu and Akasa. These five elements are present in the Universe and it’s objects, both gross and subtle. When these elements are in grosser combination, they appear as physical entities. When their combination is in finer form ,they are in Astral , Sookshma,Abstract Form. Every human body has both Sthoola,Gross and Sookshma Sareera, Subtle Forms. While the grosser form, this physical frame is visible and is nourished by The Essence of Food, subtle body is nourished by our actions and reactions, both in the present and past Lives.

Thai Monk leaves body at Hisill.

Every body is destined to have a specific number of breaths.Once the limit is reached, Breathing Stops, human body returns to the five elements.Unlike other Religions, in Hinduism, the Subtle Sense organs, seeing,hearing,smelling,eating/speaking ,and touching disintegrate into respective elements.Gross body returns to earth, if buried or turns into Fire when burnt,as ashes.

Both Indian Yogis and Buddhist monks know the process of controlling ,stopping breath. This, in Buddhism, is called Rainbow Body.

‘very advanced people through the century have vanished into what is called rainbow body ( Ja Lu in Tibetan and Indrachāp Kaya in Sanskrit ) where the persons body dissolves into rainbow light and vanishes while teaching their disciples while bells and cymbals and music is heard and insence is smelled . Guru Padmasambhava from Uddiyan in the Indian subcontinent ,in what is called Swat Valley in Pakistan today, who studied in Nalanda and attained enlightenment in Nepal, Kathmanu and was crucial in transmitting Buddhism into Tibet in the 9th century and Prahe Vajra of present day India and Sonam Tsemo of Sakya Tibet went like this .

And gallores of practitioners went in another lower type of rainbow body where their body dissolves gradually within 7–14 days approximately as stipulated by themselves after they stop breathing . Their body is enclosed in a tent by their disciples and 24 hour watch is kept around the tent with chantings and prayers while rainbow lights emit out of the tent and bell and music are heard and incense is smelled and when the tent is opened up in the stipulated time there’s only the clothes and hair and nails etc the rest of the body has vanished . In just one monastery in Kham Tibet ( bordering mainland China)called the Kathog Gumba built around the 11th century , by 1959 when the Tibetans fled from the Chinese , their log book shows 125000 practitioners of that monastery/Gumba in Tibetan alone , had gone in this second type of Rainbow body when they died . Records of other monasteries were destroyed in the cultural revolution. And how many Buddhist practitioners went like these two ways mentioned above in the Indian subcontinent has been lost during the Isalamic invasion of the Indian subcontinent , which completly destroyed Buddhism in the Indian subcontinent . After all by the 8th century 75% of the Indian subcontinent ( not just present day political India ) was Buddhist. And 75% of Asia was Buddhist .

Then there were many Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan Buddhist Mahasiddhas who went to Khechar loka with their bodies which means their body just vanished at the point of death . These are signs in the Vajrayana tradition of Buddhism practiced in Nepal, Tibet, Mongolia ,China and Japan of a very high realisation or level of Enlightenment /Awakening/Bodhi . Since all records were burnt in the Indian subcontinent when people like Bakhtiar Khilji raided Buddhist Monastic complexes like Nalanda , Vikramashila, Somapuri( now in present day Bangladesh where th town of Somapura still exists ) , Odantapuri . Jagaddala etc etc and burnt all the Buddhist books and sutras and Shastras , we have no idea how many lakhs of Buddhists in the Indian sbcontinent went like these . Bhakhtiar himself writes in his diary that he burnt 90,00,000 Buddhist Scriptures in Nalanda alone.https://www.quora.com/Has-there-ever-been-a-Buddhist-monk-disappear-through-enlightenment

  • Why Some Yogis are Reborn Yoga Sutra 1.19

    YoGa Sutra 1.19
    Yaga Sutra 1.19

After talking about the Types of Samadhi,Patanjali now goes deeper  into the difference between on who has attained Samadhi, and those who attain it for a flash or intermittently.

To understand this concept one has to understand the Five Sheaths of Atman, Self, which at the Apara or Trancendental level is called Brahman.

    The Five sheaths are,

    Annamaya Kosa, Of Food

    Pranamaya Kosa, Of Vital Breath,

    Manomaya Kosa, Of Mind,

    Vigyanamaya Kosa, Of Intellect and

    Anandamaya Kosa Of Bliss.

The Atman is covered , as it were, by these sheaths.

    Brahman is beyond these.

One who attains Samadhi goes beyond these sheaths.

( Buddhism also has these layers, but the Reality, in Buddhism,in Sunya or Zero, Nihilism>

It also describes The Sthula Sareera( Gross Body) The Sooksma sareera(The Subtle Body)

Hinduism also describes Sthula Sareera and Sookshma Sareera.

The attachment to the Physical Body or identifying the Atman or self with the Body is called the’ Dehatma Buddhi’

However much one tries various Yogas, this Dehatma Buddhi is difficult to get rid of.

Even those who attain Samadhi for a brief period of Time or for some time continuously are not cured of this Dehatma Buddhi.

Only those who are totally immersed in Samadhi( they can also carry out day-to-day activities of the Physical world) are the true Yogins.

Others are those who are unable to leave the Dehatma Buddhi.

These people know the limitations of the Physical  World, know that they are still in the grip of Dehatma Buddhi; but they will be connected to the Sukshma Sareera and be one with nature or Prakriti.

They are called Prakitilayars, one who is in tune with Nature.

Being connected and rooted to Suksma Sareera, they can not get rid of the subtle impressions created by the Physical activities.

Hence, they have to face the consequences of their actions and they carry Vaasanas or the remnants of Impressions.

So they are caught in the web of Samsara, of Births and deaths

Real Yogic State is attained only when one leaves the impressions,Chitta Vruttis.

This is possible only when one performs actions without attachment, as Lord Krishna explains in The Bhagavad Gita.

This detachment is the prerequisite for Yoga Sadhana.

    Attachment Levels in Yoga.
    The Levels of Attachment.

    I.19. bhava pratyayo videha prakṛtilayānāṁ

    bhava = objective existence, becoming
    • pratyayah = cause, cognitive principle, content of mind, cognition
    • videha = bodiless, disembodied
    • prakriti = creative cause, subtlest material cause, nature
    • layanam = dissolved, merged into
When such impressions remain, one retains the possibility (and the cause) of birth, even
after being freed from the present body and after becoming integrated with one’s own or
the cosmic nature. For, such impressions or memories nurture and perpetuate the
    awareness of continued personal existence.

The Third Eye‘ of Lobsang Rampa deals extensively with the Subtle Body.

In Indian Philosophy, Mind is also classified as a sense organ just as the other Organs like Eyes,Ears,Nose,Mouth,Skin(sense of touch)

The difference between them and the Mind is that while the senses vibrate at a lower frequency when compared to The Mind.

(All objects in the World vibrate).

Higher the frequency, more subtle the object.

Mind being in the Higher frequency is not visible.

And it perceives better than the sense organs.

Human Body is surrounded by three layers of subtle body.

The first level is the  ‘Etheric Body, which extends up-to one-eighth of an inch from the Physical frame.

Afte rthis, is the ;Auric Body’ which is about half of the size of the Etheric Body.

    Beyond this is the “aura’

Many of us would have wondered about the yellow( Round) glow around the pictures/portraits of Divine Personalities.

This indicates the Highest Evolution of Spiritual Enlightenment.

The Etheric Body indicates the Physical.emotional and spiritual state of an individual.

If the Etheric glow is Red it is indicative of Physical ailment‘/emotional turmoil,Blue serenity and so on.

Higher levels are indicated by the Auric Body and The Aura.

One can know on’e development in the emotional and Spiritual level and work towards a better and healthy Life.

For more details one may read the books of Lobsang Rampa,The Third Eye,The Cave of the Ancients, Living with The Lama.

Rampa is a Buddhist Monk and his system is based on Buddhism

Indian philosophy has another system though the essential Principles remain the same.

In essence these systems demonstrate the power of Mind/Conciousness over the Physical body.

More to follow including demonstration technic.

Now a system of Medicine has been evolved on these Lines -‘The Kortum Technique’

“The thought atmosphere is a real, substantial thing and has in it all that makes the body. So many people consider the things they cannot see as unsubstantial; and although they are told, over and over that they cannot conceal themselves, they go right on believing that they can…It is well for us to know the truth that we carry around with us the open book of our lives, out of which all men read whether we realize it or not. Some people are good thought readers, while others are dull; but all can read a little and we cannot conceal ourselves. Also, our thought atmosphere is constantly precipitating its slowly cooling words on our body and there it is seen by all men. We can, with a little practice, feel the thought force of this atmosphere that surrounds us and gradually gain realization of its existence as real as that of the outer world.”
