    Intriguing Facts Multi Verses Parallel Verses Hinduism

    There is a fine distinction between the Parallel and Multi Verses.

     

    Here it is,

    At first blush it seems crazy — or at least that was my own initial reaction. When cosmologists talk about “the multiverse,” it’s a slightly poetic term. We really just mean different regions of spacetime, far away so that we can’t observe them, but nevertheless still part of what one might reasonably want to call “the universe.” In inflationary cosmology, however, these different regions can be relatively self-contained — “pocket universes,” as Alan Guth calls them. When you combine this with string theory, the emergent local laws of physics in the different pocket universes can be very different; they can have different particles, different forces, even different numbers of dimensions. So there is a good reason to think about them as separate universes, even if they’re all part of the same underlying spacetime.

    The situation in quantum mechanics is superficially entirely different. Think of Schrödinger’s Cat. Quantum mechanics describes reality in terms of wave functions, which assign numbers (amplitudes) to all the various possibilities of what we can see when we make an observation. The cat is neither alive nor dead; it is in a superposition of alive + dead. At least, until we observe it. In the simplistic Copenhagen interpretation, at the moment of observation the wave function “collapses” onto one actual possibility. We see either an alive cat or a dead cat; the other possibility has simply ceased to exist. In the Many Worlds or Everett interpretation, both possibilities continue to exist, but “we” (the macroscopic observers) are split into two, one that observes a live cat and one that observes a dead one. There are now two of us, both equally real, never to come back into contact.

    These two ideas sound utterly different. In the cosmological multiverse, the other universes are simply far away; in quantum mechanics, they’re right here, but in different possibility spaces (i.e. different parts of Hilbert space,”

     

    That is to say that there are many Universes operating simultaneously with our Space Time but operating under its own Laws, including Physical Laws.

     

    In the Parallel Universe there are number of possibilities with regard to what we perceive, as what we see is what we would like to see, that is the Reality or the real thing is altered by our Perception or even the very attempt changes the nature of the thing we would like to perceive.

    This is the essential difference  according to latest thoughts on the subject.

     

    What does Hinduism say on this?

     

    1.That there is only one Reality, Brahman, and there are many Parallel Universes for our Perception.

     

    Ekam Sath , Vipra Bahutha Vadanthi’

     

    Reality is One, but It is Perceived as Many by the Discerning.

     

    Discerning is he near equivalent word for the Sanskrit term for Vipra, though it is translated as the Learned by many.

     

    The Context in which the sentence is formed lends support to my view.

     

    The Many are Illusory in Nature depending on the level of Ignorance one has of the Reality.

     

    The same world, event appears different to different people, depending on one’s Disposition, Swabhava.

     

    This applies our level as well as to others.

     

    As much as the Reality appears different to different people in our level, there are also other levels, Multi verse where the same Reality is perceived as many by many depending on their dispositions, Swabhava.

     

    We, at our plane of Existence ,are aware of only our Swabhava, Dispoitions not the others’ at other levels of existence.

     

    So according to Hinduism,there are Multi verses that operate under different levels on par or at the same time(for our reference I am mentioning this).

     

    Hence Multi verses co-exist with ours.

     

    2.In this sense Parallel verse and the Multi verses exist simultaneously.

     

    In the former, at our level of existence we have many possible worlds depending on our intent to perceive.

     

    Also the Multi verse do have their Parallel verses depending on the ability of those who inhabit them to perceive.

     

    So there are many Multiverses in each of the possible , including ours.

     

    3.This raises some interesting possibilities.

     

    a) If one were to go back in Time and sees himself in the past, what does it belong to?

     

    Parallel or Multiverse?

     

    b) Again, according to Hinduism Rebirth is certain.

     

    Let us look some example.

     

    I am 64 now.

     

    I should have died at least sixty four years ago.

     

    My children int he past birth must have cremated, buried my body and religious ceremonies should have been performed( It might nor have been performed as well).

     

    Hinduism states that the effect of these ceremonies , like Sraddha reach the deceased.

     

    And they should have reached me.

     

    How does it affect my present Life?

    Let me attempt to answer as I have been doing till now to my children and close friends.

     

    It is alright and it sounds nice to say that “I know that God is everywhere and I treat everyone equally’

     

    Is it an honest statement?( I am speaking out myself)?

     

    Do I treat everyone equally?

     

    Do I love everyone and everything in the world?

     

    Am I free from prejudices, anger, Lust for power,women, money?

     

    Do I forgive others?

     

    Am I helping others?

     

    Is my heart pure enough not to feel jealous of others?

     

    Do I place others before myself?

     

    Am I innocent?

     

    Did/Do I not  hurt many in my life, both professional and personal?

     

    Am I honest and follow what I say?

     

    My answer is NO.

     

    So I am not qualified to be counted among those who can realize God by these methods.

     

    There is also this perception,

     

    That if you do your Duty, there is no necessity of worshiping God.

     

    True.

     

    Lord Krishna implies this in The Bhagavad Gita.

     

    The confusion is what ‘work’ means’ though Krishna means Karma or Action’ which is different from work.

     

    What is the Work we are talking about?

     

    Going to office, 10-5, working in a software company or running a Business, where we earn?

     

    What do we do here?

     

    We earn money to satisfy our senses.

     

    We remain unsatisfied whatever we earn.

     

    We remain loyal , honest to others in the work place so that our jobs, businesses are secure.

     

    Where is the question of Altruism?

     

    At the end of the day, after we do our life’s work, what does remain for us?

     

    Have we evolved Happier, Contented?

     

    Have We answered our urge to know where We are, where were We and where do We go thither?

     

    Have I answered these questions?

     

    Of what use this money, the result of my dedication to work to Me finally?

     

    By saying Everything is Brahman, I am Brahman,I Love All does not make One Spiritually evolved.

     

    Every one can not become a Ramana Maharishi by asking ‘Who Am I?

     

    It is only by searching within oneself for answers and finding them, does one become a Jnani or a Realized Soul?

     

    Rituals, procedures laid for them, Poojas, Dhana, Dharma, Neethi Sastras,Vedas , Puranas, Ithihasas, Yoga all these are disciplines to follow , are to enable us to reach that mental and spiritual maturity to Realize Self/God.

     

    One in a Million can become a Ramana Maharishi,Kanchi Periyavar,Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

     

    Even these people had  followed a system of discipline.

     

    Merely Working in an office, running a business does not constitute a Sadahana.

     

    Ding even this has to have an attitude, disposition as explained in Karma Yoga.

     

    We do not follow this even.

     

    Till we become mature enough we need the Rituals.

     

    You may choose your own from any from the numerous paths explained in Hinduism.

    ஒங்காரதிற்கு பிரம்மா ரிஷி ,

    தேவி காயத்ரி சந்தம் ,

    பரமாத்மா தேவதை .

    பூ முதலிய ஏழு வ்யாஹ்ரிதிகளுக்கும் முறையே அத்ரி , பிருகு குத்சர் ,வசிஷ்டர் , கௌதமர் காஸ்யபர் ,ஆங்கிரசர் ரிஷிகள்.

    காயத்ரி ,அனுஷ்டுப் ,ப்ருஹதி ,பங்க்தி ,த்ருஷ்டுப் ,ஜகதி என்பவை சந்தங்கள் .

    அக்னி ,வாயு ,சூரியன்,பிருகஸ்பதி ,வருணன் ,இந்திரன் விச்வேதேவர்கள் முறையே தேவதைகள் .

    ப்ராணாயாமம்

    ஓங்காரமே பூலோகம் ,
    ஓங்காரமே புவ லோகம் ,
    ஓங்காரமே ஸுவர் லோகம் ,
    ஓங்காரமே மகர் லோகம் ,
    ஓங்காரமே ஜன லோகம் ,
    ஓங்காரமே தபோ லோகம் ,

    காயத்ரி தேவதை .

    விரும்பிய வரங்களை அளிப்பவளும்,அழிவற்றவளும் வேதத்தால் அறியப்பட்டவளும் வேத மாதாவும் ஆகிய காயத்ரி தேவி எழுந்தருளி இந்த வேத மந்திர ஸ்துதியை அங்கீகரிக்க வேண்டும் .

    காயத்ரியே !

    நீயே பிராண சக்த்யாகவும் ,இந்திர சக்தியாகவும் இருக்கிறாய் ,

    சத்ருக்களை வெல்லும் திறமையாக இருக்கிறாய் ,

    அங்கங்களின் வலிமையாக இருக்கிறாய் ,

    ஞான ஒளியாக இருக்கிறாய் ,

    தேவர்களின் பிரசித்தமான பிரகாச வடிவாய் இருக்கிறாய் ,

    உலக வடிவாய் இருக்கிறாய் ,

    கால் ரூபியாக உலகின் ஆயுளாகவும் இருகிறாய் .

    அனகன் ந்யாசம் , கர ந்யாசம் ஸ்வரூப த்யானம் ,பஞ்ச பூஜை செய்து கொள்ளவும் .

    காயத்ரி ஜபம் .

    ஓங்காரப் பொருளான எந்தப் பரமாத்மா நம்முடைய புத்தி சக்திகளைத் தூண்டுகிறாரோ ,அந்த அனைத்தையும் படைக்கிறவரான ,பகவானுடைய சிறந்த ஜோதி ஸ்வரூபத்தை த்யாநிப்போம் .

    காயத்ரி உபஸ்தானம் காலை சந்த்யோபஸ்தானம் செய்கிறேன் ,

    நடுப்பகலில் ஆதித்ய உபஸ்த்தானம் செய்கிறேன் ,

    சாயங்காலத்தில் சாயம் சந்த்யா உபஸ்தானம் செய்கிறேன் .

    பிரகாசிக்கின்ற காயத்ரி தேவியே ,
    பூமியில் பிரம்ம உபாசனம் செய்கின்ற எங்களுக்கு அனுக்கிரகத்தை செய்து மேரு மலையின் உச்சியில் உத்தமமமான சிகரத்தில் உள்ள உனது ஆலயத்திற்கு ஆனந்தமாய் எழுந்து அருள்வாய் .

    காலையில் சூரிய உபஸ்தானம்.

    பிரஜைகளை ரக்ஷிக்கும் சூரிய தேவனுடைய பூஜிக்கத் தகுந்ததும்,அழிவற்றதும் , கேட்பவர் மனத்தை கவர்வதில் சிறந்ததுமான

    கீர்த்தியையும் பெருமையும் த்யானிக்கிறேன்

    சூரியன் அனைத்தையும் அறிந்து கொண்டு ஜனங்களை நடத்தி வைக்கிறார் .

    சூரியன் பூமியையும் மேல் உலகையும் தாங்குகிறார் .

    அவர் ஜீவராசிகளை கண்கொட்டாமல் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார் .

    அழியாது பலனைப் பெறுவதற்காக வேய் நிறைந்த ஹவிஸ்ஸை அளிக்கிறோம் .

    மித்திரர் ஆன சூரிய பகவானே !

    எவன் நியமத்துடன் உம்மை ஆராதிக்க விரும்புகிறானோ ,அந்த மனிதன் பரி பூரணமான தர்மபலனுடன் கூட்டினான் ஆகட்டும் .

    உம்மால் இரட்சிக்கப் பட்டவன் நோய் வயப்பட்டு அழிவுறான் .

    இவனைப் பாவம் சமீபத்திலோ தூரத்திலோ துன்புறுத்தாது .

    மத்தியான்னம் .

    ஆன்ம ஜோதியாலும் கண்காணும் பிரகாசத்தாலும் தேவ உலகினரையும் அவரவர் கருமங்களில் புகுத்திக் கொண்டு சுற்றி

    வருபவரான சூரிய தேவன் ,பொன் மயமானதேரில் உலகங்களை நன்கு பார்வையிட்டுக் கொண்டு சஞ்சரிக்கிறார் .

    இருளை விழுங்கிக் கொண்டு உதிக்கின்ற உயர்ந்த ஜோதி வடிவானவராயும் ,தேவர்களையும் உள்ள சூரிய தேவனைப் பார்ப்பவர்கள்

    ஆன நாம் உத்தமமான ஆன்ம ஜோதியையே அடைந்தவர்கள் ஆவோம் .

    அந்தப் பிரசித்தமான அனைத்தையும் அறிகின்ற தேவனான சூரியனை கிரணங்கள் ஆகிய குதிரைகள் உலகோரின் தரிசனத்திற்காக

    உயரத் தாங்கிச்செல்கின்றன .

    மிதிரனுக்கும் வருணனுக்கும் அக்னிக்கும் கண் போன்றவரும் , விசித்திரமான சர்வ தேவ ஸ்வரூபியும் ஆகிய சூரியன்

    உயரசெல்கிறார் .

    அசையும் பொருள்களுக்கும் அசையாப் பொருள்களுக்கும் ஆத்மாவாகிய சூரியன் தேவ லோகம் ,பூலோகம் அந்தரிக்ஷம் அனைத்தையும் வியாபிக்கிறார் .

    கிழக்கில் பரிசுத்தமாய் உதித்து தேவர்களுக்கு நமை செய்வதும் கண் போன்றதும் ஆன அந்த சூரிய மண்டலத்தை நூறாண்டு காலம் கண்டு வணைங்குவோம் .

    அங்ஙனம் நூறாண்டு வாழ்வோம் .

    நூறாண்டு உற்றார் உறவினருடன் கூடிக் குலவுவோம் .
    நூறாண்டு மகிழ்வோம் .
    நூறாண்டு கீர்த்தியுடன் விளங்குவோம் .
    நூறாண்டு இனியதே கேட்போம் .

    நூறாண்டு இனியதே பேசுவோம் .
    நூறாண்டும் தீமைகளால் ஜெயிக்கப்படாமல் வாழ்வோம் .
    இங்ஙனம் நீண்ட காலம் சூரிய தேவனைப் பார்த்து அனுபவிக்க ஆசைபடுகின்றோம் .

    விரும்பிய பலனை அளிப்பவரும் சிவந்த கண்களை உடையரும் ஆன எல்லாம் அறிந்தவருமான எவர் எத்திக்கிலும் பபிரகாசிப்பவராய் பெரிய ஜல சமுத்திரத்தில் மத்தியில் இருந்து காலையில் உதித்தாரோ அந்த சூரிய தேவன் என்னை முழு மனதுடன் புனிதாக்கி அருள்வாராக .

    மாலையில்

    வருண தேவரே!

    எங்களுடைய இந்த வேண்டுகோளைக் கேட்டுருள்வீராக ,

    இப்போழுதே இன்பமுறச்செய்வீர் .

    ரக்ஷை வேண்டி உம்மைப் பிரார்த்திக்கின்றேன் .

    வேத மந்திரத்தால் ஸ்தோத்திரம் செய்து கொண்டு அதற்காகவே உம்மைச் சரண் அடைகிறேன் .

    யாகம் செய்பவன் ஹவிஸ் திரவியங்களைக் கொண்டு அதையே கோருகிறான்.

    புகழ் மிக்க வான தேவரே !

    அநாதரவு செய்யாமல் இப்பொழுது என் பிரார்த்தனையை அங்கீகரிக்க வேண்டும் .

    எமது ஆயுளைக் குறைத்து விடாதீர் .

    வருண தேவரே !

    விவேகமற்ற மனிதரைப் போல் உம்முடைய ஆராதனையை தினந் தோறும் அனுஷ்டிக்காமல் அஜாக்கிரதையால் எதை விடுததோமோ ,

    வருண தேவரே !

    தேவதைகளின் சமுகத்திற்கு மனிதர்களாகிய நாங்கள் அறியாமையால் இவ்விதமான வஞ்சனை எது எது செய்துள்ளோமோ <

    உம்முடைய தருமத்தில் எதைக் கெடுத்தோம்,

    வருண தேவரே !

    அந்தப் பாவத்திற்காக எங்களை இம்சியாது காத்து அருள வேண்டும்
    .

    .

    சூதாடிகளைப் போன்றோர் ,நல்லோர் நாடாத இடத்தில் எந்தப் பழியை அநியாயமாக என் மீது சுமத்தினார்களோ ,

    அல்லது அந்தப் பாவம் உண்மையில் அறிந்து செய்யப் பட்டதோ ,மேலும் எதைச் செய்தும் அறியவில்லையோ ,

    அவையனைத்தும் சிதறிப் போகுமாறு நாசம் செய்யும் .

    வருண தேவரே !

    பின்னர் உமக்குப் பிரியமானவர்களாக நாங்கள் எப்போதும் இருக்க வேண்டும் .

    சமஷ்டிய அபிவாதனம் ..

    சந்த்யா தேவிக்கு நமஸ்காரம் .

    சாவித்ரி தேவிக்கு நமஸ்காரம்.

    காயத்ரி தேவிக்கு நமஸ்காரம் .

    சரஸ்வதி தேவிக்கு நமஸ்காரம் .

    எல்லா தேவதைகளுக்கும் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் நமஸ்காரம் ..

    காமம் செய்தது , கோபம் செய்தது -நான் செய்த பாவம் எதுவும் வேண்டுமென்று மனமோப்பிச் செய்ததன்று .

    காமம் குரோத வசத்தால் அறியாமையில் நிகழ்ந்து விட்டதால் ,

    தேவர்களே !

    பொறுத்து அருள வேண்டும்
    .
    தேவர்களே உங்களைப் பன் முறை வணங்குகிறேன்.

    யம மந்திரம் .

    யமனுக்கு நமஸ்காரம் .

    அனைத்தையும் அடக்கி ஆள்பவனாகவும் ,தருமா தேவதையாகவும் ,அழிப்பவனாகவும் ,முடிப்பவனாகவும் ,

    விவச்வானுடைய மகனும் ,கால ஸ்வரூபியாகவும் ,எல்லாப் பிராணிகளையும் ஒழிப்பவனாயும்,

    மிக்க பலசாலியும் தத்னன் என்ற பெயருடவனும் கரிய மேனி உடையவனும் எல்லோராலாரும் பூஜிக்கப்

    பட்டவனாகவும் பேரு வயிறு படைத்தவனாயினும் ,விசித்ரமானவனும் ,விசித்ரமாகத் தன் ரகசியங்களைக் காப்பவனும் ,

    உள்ள தர்ம ராஜனுக்கு எனது நமஸ்காரம் .

    மீண்டும் சித்ரகுப்தனுக்கு நமஸ்காரம் .

    ஹரிஹர வந்தனம் .

    காணும் பொருள்களில் அழகாயும் ,காட்சிக்கு ஆதாரமாயும் ,உள்ள பரப் பிரம்மத்தை ,உடல் தோறும் உறைபவனைக் கருமேனித்

    திருமாலும் செம்மேனிச் சிவனும் ஒன்றாய் இணைந்த வடிவை ,வீரியத்தின் மேல் நோக்கு உடையவனை ,முக்கண்ணனை ,

    எல்லாம் தன வடிவாய்க் கொண்டவனக்குப் பன்முறை நமஸ்காரங்கள் .

    சூரியநாராயண வந்தனம் .

    உலகத்திற்கெல்லாம் ஒரு கண்ணாக விளங்குபவரும் ,உலகின் சிருஷ்டி ,ஸ்திதி சம்ஹார காரணரும் ,வேதஸ்வரூபியும் ,

    முக்குணத்தால் மூன்று வடிவம் தாங்கி ,பிரம்மா , விஷ்ணு , சங்கரன் என்ற மூர்த்திகளில் விளன்குபரும் ஆகிய சூரிய தேவனுக்கு

    சூரிய மண்டல மத்தியில் உறைபவரும் ,பத்மாசனத்தில் அமர்ந்திருப்பவரும் ,தோல் வளையும் ,காதில் மகர குனடலமும் ,

    சிரஸில் கிரீடமும் ,மார்பில் முத்துமாலை அணிந்தவரும் ,சங்கும் சக்கரமும் ஏந்தியவரும் பொன்போல் ஒளிரும் திருமேனி

    உடையவருமான நாராயணர் எப்போதும் த்யானத்திற்கு உரியவர் .

    சங்கு சக்கரம் கதை இவைகளைக் கையில் ஏந்தியவரே !

    த்வாரகையில் நித்ய வாசம் புரிபவரே !

    அடியவரை நழுவவிடாதிருப்பவரே !

    உலக ரக்ஷகரே !

    தாமரை போற கண்களை உடையவரே !

    சரணடைந்த என்னைக் காத்தருளும் .

    ஆகாயத்திலிருந்து விழுந்த நீர் சமுத்திரத்தை நோக்கி எவ்வாறு சென்று அடைகிறதோ , அவ்வாறே எல்லா தேவர்களுக்கும்

    செய்யும் நமஸ்காரம் கேசவனையே நாடி அடைகிறது .

  • Kanchi Periyavar and Ramana Maharishi,Video

    There have been a lot of Sages, we hear, in the Puranic Age.

    The Compassion,Discipline,Self-Denial and Simple Living of these Sages are so unbelievable that one tends to dismiss them as a figment of imagination.

    But, as if to prove ourselves totally wrong ,there comes a time when Sages of such Nature appear.

    Along with Sri Ramana Maharishi.His Holiness Sri Chandra Sekarendra Saraswati of Kanchi Mutt is one who can give us a glimpse into the world of Sages and their Compassion.

    Like Ramana, Periyavar/Periyava(Elder/Great Man), as Sri Chandra Sekara Saraswati is fondly called, was not a Man of Miracles.

    He exuded Divinity ,Peace,Calmness and Bliss.

    He always had time for the poor and the distressed.

    For him,a piece of Gold or a piece of tin were the same, as Lord Krishna  proclaims as the characteristic of a Stiththa Pragna( Man who is anchored in Reality).

    He was learned beyond words.

    Astronomy,Astrology,The Vedas,Modern Science, Archaeology,History,Sociology,History of The World,Numismatics,The Bible, The Koran,Zend-Avesta,- you name it, he can put any scholar to shame.

    Yet he will seek clarification from people as if he knows nothing.

    I am reminded of Sri.Ramana Maharishi of Tirivannamalai.

    Sir Arthur Osbourne, the Maharishi‘s biographer recalls an incident.

    Osbouune asked Ramana,  whether what He teaches is The Advaita of Sri Sankaracharya.

    Bhagwan replied ‘I am expressing what I have felt. Learned people like you tell me that it is like what Sankara said.I do not know’!

    The same humility was evident with the Periyavar.

    Osbourne records an instance concerning The Periyavar.

    Arthur Osbourne came to India in search of Sages/Realized Souls, seeking knowledge.

    He toured the length and breadth of India and could find none.

    Some one  informed hm of Ramana Maharishi.

    Osbourne went to Sri Ramanasramam,Tiruvannamalai.

    Bhgagwan Ramana Maharishi never tried to convert people into his line of thinking.

    ( His normal refrain was ‘ if you are hungry,you have to eat; I can not eat for you;I can not do any thing,If you want to realize God, you have to attempt)

    Osboune sat  among the group of people in front of Sri Ramana.

    Ramana did not even look at him.much less to talk to him.

    Osbourne was disillusioned.

    He thought of Ramana Maharishi as a Charlatan and he left.

    While leaving Tiruvannamali he chanced upon travelling with the Periyavar.

    While travelling, Periyavar casually observed ‘ you have come to India in search of a Guru.

    You are not satisfied.You have seen Ramana. You think he is a charlatan.Ramana is your Guru, you will return to England and come back to Ramana’

    Osbourne came back and became an ardent Disciple of Ramana Maharishi and published Ramana’s Biography and edited ‘The Mountain Path‘ till his death’

    Periyavar was one whose intuition and compassion knows no bound.( I am using the present tense as he showering his Blessings even now, though he left his physical frame)

    Jagadguru Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamigal (Tamil: சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி சுவாமிகள்) (May 20, 1894 – January 8, 1994) or theSage of Kanchi was the 68th Jagadguru in the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. He is usually referred to as Paramacharya or Mahaswami or Maha Periyavaal.

    Maha Periyavaal was born on 20 May 1894, under Anuradha star according to the Hindu calendar, into a Kannadiga Smartha Hoysala Karnataka Brahmin family in Viluppuram, South Arcot District, Tamil Nadu as Swaminatha. He was the second son of Subramanya Sastri, a District Education Officer. The child was named Swaminatha, after the family deity, Lord Swaminatha of Swamimalai, near Kumbakonam. Swaminatha began his early education at the Arcot American Mission High School at Tindivanam, where his father was working. He was an exceptional student and excelled in several subjects.[citation needed] In 1905, his parents performed his Upanayanam, a Vedic ceremony which qualifies a Brahmin boy to begin his Vedic studies under an accomplished teacher.[citation needed]

    Incidents leading to Sainthood

    During the childhood of the Acharya, his father consulted an astrologer who, upon studying the boy’s horoscope, is said to have been so stunned that he prostrated himself before the boy exclaiming that “One day the whole world will fall at his feet”.In 1906, the 66th Acharya of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peethamperformed the annual Chaturmasyam (a forty-day annual ritual performed by Hindu ascetics while remaining in one place), in a village near Tindivanam in Tamil Nadu. This was Swaminathan’s first exposure to the Math and its Acharya. Later, Swaminathan accompanied his father whenever he visited the Math where the Acharya was deeply impressed by the young boy.

  • In Times Of Crisis’ God is Here With US.

    I came across a blog which i am quoting below.

    Hinduism does not blame God for our pain.

    One reaps as he sows.

    Then why pray?

    He gives us the Strength to bounce back.

    This can not be logically explained.

    One can only feel it.

    As one who has gone through pain in my Life, I can affirm this.

    I lost eight relatives who were close to me, including my parents,close friend, wife( at my age  of 28) in a span of 3 years.

    I had financial and emotional difficulties as well.

    It is a surprise I am alive to-day.

    More to the point I am Happy.

    God has given me wonderful children.

    That’s proof enough of God for me.

    ‘So is there an all-loving all-seeing God or is it a convenient invention to salve the soul?

    I have had major reason to consider that question over the past few weeks as my 12-year-old nephew, Rory Staunton, cruelly lost his life to a toxic infection in a New York hospital.

    In the intensive care unit I met two pastors, both doing their best to console a frightened and exhausted family desperately concerned for their little boy.

    With one I ended up discussing the philosophy of Spinoza, the Dutch philosopher, who believed that if there was a God he was abstract and uncaring.

    When you see all the war, the killing, the famine, and suffering it is easy for many to agree with Spinoza.

    We discussed the Sermon on the Mount, and the eight beatitudes, which are the most relevant part of the Christian theology in my experience.

    Those are profound statements that truly do preach humility and compassion and revive faith in the New Testament.

    Yet how has that love and mercy expressed itself?

    There were two church services for Rory, one in Ireland, one in America where God’s mercy and grace were front and center.

    I was assured by many that Rory had gone to a better place and that God had a plan for him.

    At his funeral mass there were repeated references to a merciful God but it was hard to see the mercy in depriving my grieving sister and her husband of their beautiful son.

    I acknowledge now more than ever, the importance of the ritual of the religion, especially in the wake of Rory’s death when I see the incredible comfort that the ceremonies brought to his parents.

    I saw God in the incredible caring of Father Tom, from Mayo, in the hospital room in New York in the way he told my little niece that her brother was gone, a truly saintly man.

    But that is not the same as believing in God.

    Despite the overwhelming desire to believe the answer is positive the question must remain unanswerable.

    There is no evidence either way that is definitive or conclusive for me.

    My awful encounter with death has if anything, increased my sense of how unknown the great questions of our existence remain.

    I am comfortable with that. Great certainties held by people unnerve me anyway. All punishing, all powerful, all merciful deities of whatever religion make it too easy to avoid the really difficult question which is: Who are we? Why are we here?
