Water transmits mantra Power by carrying the Blessing and Curse.

Hinduism lays down that water is not to be kicked/splashed at Will.

It has to be given respect.

There are rules for Drinking water.

Water should not be sipped directly from the Glass or Tumbler by touching it with the lips,

It has to be drunk by taking in from a vessel(small one) directly into the mouth and be absorbed in small gulps.

Nor should one slurp water, nor should one lick the water in the  lips .

Water should be drawn from a well in the house.

Preferable to keep the water in a Copper vessel.

Water is used for Daily oblations and there are procedures in procuring , storing and using the water  for the Idols for bathing them.

In Yagnas and Poojas water is purified by Mantras, there are Snana Mantras and Sukthas to be used.

For Idols, Sri Rudram, Chamakam Purusha Suktha, Vishnu Suktha, Narayana Suktha, Laksmi Suktha, and Durga Suktha are to be recited.

Water is used for purifying the food by performing Parishichana, the act of purifying food with the Mantras.

One should keep water in storage for a maximum period of six hours.

No Pooja or Yagna is complete with out the Mantra Pushpam, where water is revered and worshipped .

  • Sacred Repetition Japa Removes Obstacles Yoga Sutra 29

In the last two Sutras Patanjali spoke of the Pranava, OM, and the need to concentrate on this.

As I posted earlier all the sounds originate  from three places in the human body, Mouth,a-Throat ,u and from the pit of the stomach M.

From the se sounds came words and language,

Language, nay sounds exist with a corresponding image.

When a sound is made an image flashes in or mind.

At times we may not be able to identify these images.

It is wisdom of the Vedas that there is NO Sound without a corresponding image.

The images we do not recognize are those that spring from our unconscious which is Universal Consciousness.

The Mantras and the Japas of these Mantras help one to unleash the human potential.

Words and their meanings can not be separated.

So much so the Great Poet Dramatist Kalidasa opens his Raghuvamsa with this sloka,

    वागर्थाविव संपृक्तौ वागर्थप्रतिपत्तये|
    जगतः पितरौ वन्दे पार्वतीपरमेश्वरौ||
–> I salute the parents of the world, Parvati and  Parameswara, who are inseparable like the “vAk” (word) and “artha”(its meaning); to gain expertise in the right understanding of the words and their meanings.”
    In Tamil Abirami Bhattar says,
    ‘சொல்லும் பொருளும் என, நடம் ஆடும் துணைவருடன்
    புல்லும் பரிமளப் பூங்கொடியே. நின் புதுமலர்த் தாள்
    அல்லும் பகலும் தொழுமவர்க்கே அழியா அரசும்
    செல்லும் தவநெறியும், சிவலோகமும் சித்திக்குமே.
Here he describes Lord Shiva and Goddess Abirami as united and One as Word and Meaning’
So the concentration on the Pranava delivers results in therm of worldly pleasures and Yoga Siddhi.
The Constant and regular Japa removes obstacles in the path of Realization and lead one to Atma Sadhana.
It is not always necessary to understand he meaning; what is required is Sraddha or faith.
As you do the Japa you will realize this.
    Yoga Sutra of Patanjali 29
    Yoga Sutra 1.29

Tatah Pratyak Cetana Adhigamah Api Antaraya Abhavah Ca

    Pratyak : individual
    Cetana : consciousness
    Adhigamah : understanding, realization
    Api : also
Antaraya : of obstacles or impediments
    Abhavah : absence , removal
    Ca : and, also

From that comes Realisation of the individual Self and the obstacles are removed.

  • Universe Illusion A Hologram Physicists Meet Adi Sankara

Brahma satyam jagat mithya, jivo brahmaiva naparah—”Brahman is the only truth, the world is unreal, and there is ultimately no difference between Brahman and individual self’-Adi Sankara in Viveka Chudamani

Declared Adi Sankara, the greatest exponent of non Dualism or Advaita,

Knowledge is relative,There are two kinds of Knowledge.

    Our Universe a Hologram?
Universe is a Hologram. Image from.http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2011/09/is-our-universe-a-hologram-in-1982-a-litttle-known-but-epic-event-occured-at-the-university-of-paris.html

One is Para Vidya which id Eternal and another is Apara Vidya, that is transitory, that is of this temporal world.

From the Absolute stand point the knowledge we have here in this world, including Science et al is only Real till Real Knowledge dawns.

    Then it becomes Illusory.

So the word is real and Unreal or Illusion , both at the same time.

Hinduism speaks of fourteen levels of existence.

Eleven have been proved theoretically by Quantum Physics.

Please read my post filed under Indian Philosophy, Hinduism, Time and Astrophysics Physics.

    Scroll down for Videos.

Now Physicists have come with the same conclusion from a different angle.

‘Ekam Sath, Vipra Bahuta Vidanti’ Truth is One , People speak of It in many ways’

A team of physicists has provided some of the clearest evidence yet that our Universe could be just one big projection.

In 1997, theoretical physicist Juan Maldacena proposed that an audacious model of the Universe in which gravity arises from infinitesimally thin, vibrating strings could be reinterpreted in terms of well-established physics. The mathematically intricate world of strings, which exist in nine dimensions of space plus one of time, would be merely a hologram: the real action would play out in a simpler, flatter cosmos where there is no gravity.

Maldacena’s idea thrilled physicists because it offered a way to put the popular but still unproven theory of strings on solid footing — and because it solved apparent inconsistencies between quantum physics and Einstein’s theory of gravity. It provided physicists with a mathematical Rosetta stone, a ‘duality’, that allowed them to translate back and forth between the two languages, and solve problems in one model that seemed intractable in the other and vice versa. But although the validity of Maldacena’s ideas has pretty much been taken for granted ever since, a rigorous proof has been elusive.

In two papers posted on the arXiv repository, Yoshifumi Hyakutake of Ibaraki University in Japan and his colleagues now provide, if not an actual proof, at least compelling evidence that Maldacena’s conjecture is true.

In one paper, Hyakutake computes the internal energy of a black hole, the position of its event horizon (the boundary between the black hole and the rest of the Universe), its entropy and other properties based on the predictions of string theory as well as the effects of so-called virtual particles that continuously pop into and out of existence. In the other, he and his collaborators calculate the internal energy of the corresponding lower-dimensional cosmos with no gravity. The two computer calculations match.

“It seems to be a correct computation,” says Maldacena, who is now at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey and who did not contribute to the team’s work.”

  • User Friendly Hinduism Facts

    You would find Hinduism user-friendly.

    Hinduism Image
    Hinduism,User-friendly. Image source.http://bhaktivedantacollege.com/events/encountering-world-religions/

It does not want you to do or believe something if you do not wish to.

Nor does it condemn you to Hell if you do not follow it.

it suits your Nature, attitudes and Lifestyle.

Let us look at some facts of Hinduism.

1.You can be a Non Believer in God, yet a follower of Hinduism.

Denial of God is also a path to Reality, asserts Hinduism.

What is required is the eternal quest to know and realize what you are, that is Hinduism.

You are born in Hinduism, it is by attitudes not by dogma.

There are Philosophical systems which deny God, yet are a part of Sanatana Dharma, called by the West as Hinduism.

Nyaya, Vaiseshika, Sankhya do not believe in the concept of God. yet they are a part of Hindu systems of Philosophy.

2.If you believe in God, you may worship in any form you wish and are comfortable with.

To choose modern terminology, the template is all your to choose from.

Be it a male or Female,

    In the Form of Mother(UMA,Parvati,Kali)

    As Father Siva, Vishnu,

As Guru, The Preceptor( Dakshinamurthy) or Lord Krishna.

As friend, Lord Krishna as He was to Arjuna,

As Friend, as Siva was to Sunadaramurthy,

    As a child Lord Krishna,

    As a warrior, Rudra,

As a principle of Nature, Air, Water, Fire, Earth-Vayu, Varuna, Agni and Prithvi,

    As a servant, Lord Shiva.

3.You can choose a Human Figure or symbol.

    Linga Swaroopa(Shiva) Saligrama(Vishnu and Shiva)

    As Mathematical Symbols, The Yantras,

    As Plain Nature, Prakriti

4.You can choose how you want to follow,

    By performing Duty(Karma Yoga),

    Through Knowledge(Gnana Yoga),

    Physical and mental Exercise(Raja Yoga)

    Surrendering to God(Bhakti Yoga)

5.You are not born to/in Hinduism.

Hinduism holds the view every one to be a Sanadhani who is Pure and a Believer.

One is always a Hindu by disposition at Birth.

6.Hinduism does not have room for conversions and reconversion.

Hinduism does not talk about Religious conversion at all.

If you follow it for your good, if not ‘No comments’

7.Hinduism absorbs facts that are Good.

    Hinduism is like a reed.

It does not stand rigid against the Tide.

It bends and stands up once the water drains.

When onslaught is made on it, it seems to bend, later it absorbs what is good or proceeds as it has been hitherto.

As it has done to the Agamas,Buddhism and Jainism

8.Hinduism does not advocate Collective worship or temple worship.

Essentially it advises on Personal worship.

But if you want to worship collective and need a place, yes you have it, The Temples.

9.Hinduism does not condemn you to Hell if you do not believe in it.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna, after explaining the Hindu Thoughts to Arjuna, says towards the end of the Gita , to follow what Arjuna Thinks as Right and what would suit him!

10.Everything, living and presumed Nonliving should be happy, that is Hinduism,

    Any better package?

  • The Signs Of Death Hinduism

    There are signs of death.

Indications are there to know that Death  is nearing, though none can predict the time and date.

Medical science is as approximate as the predictions are.

However I have seen some signs which definitely foretell death.

They are more accurate than Medical predictions.

I have post an article on this earlier along with the Death Chant of the Hindus.

    Normal symptoms are.

    Arundhati Star
Vaishista and Arundhati Star in Ursa Major

    Ears will become useless.

Then there will be abnormal sweating, not to be confused with sweating and palpitation associated with heart attack.

    Virtually no appetite.

Motion will be scant, if any.

    Difficulty in recognizing people, place.

    Disorientation of Space.

One may notice the person to whom death is approaching they would stare at space.

In many an instance, they would also tell you they are seeing people, especially the dead.

They would be able to remember their childhood memories child hood friends, friends, but not children, wife.

    Then eyesight will go.

Breathing will be deep  but will deteriorate into  short gasps.

There will be a whistling sound when breathing takes place.

Once people start breathing deeply when awake, it is the custom of the Hindus to take the person and place him in the veranda.

This is called ‘Razhiyil Poduthal’, indicating  that the end is near, say in a day or two at the most.

    relatives will be informed.

There are some indications specified in the Purans about the impending death.

I am not sure how accurate they are.

But the indications I have described are found to be correct,

    Signs of Death.

One will die if He /She,

1.In one year, if one can not can not see the Star Arundhati or  ‘ the star Alcor which forms a double star with Mizar (identified as Vashista Maharshi  in Ursa Major and or The Pole Star.

2.Can not see the rays of the Sun in Eleven Months.

3.Dreams that he / she vomits Gold/Silver in ten Months.

4.Sees dirty feet in dreams, in less than ten months.

5.Sees a Crow crying or a Dove landing on one’s head, in six months.

6.If crows or Ashes surround one, in Five Months.

7.Sees rainbow in the South or Lightning in the South, in three months.

8.Can not their reflection in water or Mirror, in one moth.

9.Smells like a corpse, in fifteen days.

10.Dreams as being dragged by Bear or Monkey towards the South, become deaf,or seen wearing black clothes,,buried up to neck,Coal,Ashes, will die shortly.

11.If wolves howl in the early morning, when one can not smell the odor when the Oil Lamp is put off, shall die shortly.

I have listed a few of the symptoms found in the Brahmanda Purana.

One may refer Kalki Purana as well
