  • Rama Pattabhisheka Pitru Welfare Happiness Children Valmiki

People are aware of the benefits of reciting the Sundara Kanda of Ramayana.

Rama Pattbhisheka grants  good results, declares Valmiki.

Reciting the Pattabhisheka Sarga on seven or nine days will yield very good results.

    Naivedyam.

    Panaka,Neermor,Vada and Sakkarai Pongal.

Other procedures as explained in my post Procedures for Sundara Kanda Parayana.

What are the beneficial results by Rama Pattabhisheka Parayana.

On hearing the narrative of his coronation in this world, a person seeking for,

    sons gets sons.

    for wealth, gets the riches.

A king conquers the earth and overcomes his enemiesven as Kausalya, the mother has Rama as her living son, or as Sumitra has Lakshmana or as Kaikeyi has Bharata, the women likewise can become mothers of living sons, endowed with children as well as grand children and thus become happy forever.

a person gets longevity to life. He or she, who hears with attention and with a subdued anger, this poetic composition done by Valmiki long ago, that person overcomes the difficulties.

Whoever hears this poetical composition written by Valmiki long ago, they at the conclusion of their absence from home, meet their relatives and get rejoiced. They get all the boons, entreated from Rama.

All the gods get pleased with those who carefully listen to it.

Whoever carefully listens to the epic in his house, all obstacles come to an end. A king conquers the earth. A person staying away from home, fares well. On hearing the epic, the menstruating women give birth to excellent sons. The adorer and the reader of this ancient epic gets relieved of all sins and obtains longer life.

The epic is to be listened by warrior-class, after offering their salutation with their heads bent low, from brahmins every day regularly.

There is no doubt that the listener and the reader of this entire Ramayana will get lordship and the birth of a son.

Rama gets forever pleased with him who listens to or reads Ramayana daily.

He is indeed the eternal Vishnu, the Lord of preservation.

Rama is the primordial Lord, clearly placed before the eyes the powerful Lord removing the sins and the great-armed; who has abode on waters (of the ocean of milk) Sesha (the serpent-god forming his couch is said to be Lakshmana.

Tell this epic which occurred long ago in this manner, to those who ask for it, fearlessly. Let there be happiness to you! Let the strength of Vishnu increase! By studying and listening to this epic, all the gods get appeased. By listening to this Ramayana, the forefathers forever get pleased.

To those persons who transcribe with devotion this collection of poems depicting the story of Rama residence in heaven is assured

By listening to this highly meaningful and auspicious poetical composition, a person gets family-prosperity, augmentation in money and grain, superior women, exquisite happiness and all the acquisition of wealth on this earth.

This narrative is to be listened invariably by good people, seeking for wisdom, longevity, health, fame, fraternity, intelligence, welfare and brilliance.

  • Human Conception Embryology In The Vedas

The Third Canto of Shrimad Bhagavatam, where Lord Kapila (An incarnation of Krishna who appeared in Satya-yuga as the son of Devahuti and Kardama Muni) instructs His mother at least two million years ago.

Sage Kapila is the founder of Samkhya Pkilosophy.

Interstingly Samkhya does not believe in God.

He cursed and burnt to ashes  the children of Sakara, after whom the Oceans get the name, Sagara, for disturbing His Meditation.

The descendant ,Bhagiratha brought the Ganges from Heavens , midst great difficulties to alleviate their suffering and have them granted Moksha.

    Vedic and Modern Embryology.

“Under the supervision of the Supreme Lord and according to the result of his work, the living entity, the soul, is made to enter into the womb of a woman through the particle of male semen to assume a particular type of body

. On the first night, the sperm and ovum mix, and on the fifth night the mixture ferments into a bubble. On the tenth night it develops into a form like a plum, and after that, it gradually turns into a lump of flesh or an egg, as the case may be.

“In the course of a month, a head is formed, and at the end of two months the hands, feet and other limbs take shape. By the end of three months, the nails, fingers, toes, body hair, bones and skin appear, as do the organ of generation and the other apertures in the body, namely the eyes, nostrils, ears, mouth and anus.

“Within four months from the date of conception, the seven essential ingredients of the body, namely chyle, blood, flesh, fat, bone, marrow and semen, come into existence. At the end of five months, hunger and thirst make themselves felt, and at the end of six months, the fetus, enclosed by the amnion, begins to move on the right side of the abdomen. Deriving its nutrition from the food and drink taken by the mother, the fetus grows and remains in that abominable residence of stools and urine, which is the breeding place of all kinds of worms.”

    The Fetus  in The Womb.

“Placed within the amnion and covered outside by the intestines, the child remains lying on one side of the abdomen, his head turned towards his belly and his back and neck arched like a bow.

The child thus remains just like a bird in a cage, without freedom of movement. At that time, if the child is fortunate, he can remember all the troubles of his past one hundred births, and he grieves wretchedly. What is the possibility of peace of mind in that condition?

“Thus endowed with the development of consciousness from the seventh month after his conception, the child is tossed downward by the airs that press the embryo during the weeks preceding delivery. Like the worms born of the same filthy abdominal cavity, he cannot remain in one place. The living entity in this frightful condition of life, bound by seven layers of material ingredients, prays with folded hands, appealing to the Lord, who has put him in that condition.

“The ten-month-old living entity has these desires even while in the womb. But while he thus extols the Lord, the wind that helps parturition propels him forth with his face turned downward so that he may be born. Pushed downward all of a sudden by the wind, the child comes out with great trouble, head downward, breathless and deprived of memory due to severe agony.

“The child thus falls on the ground, smeared with stool and blood, and plays just like a worm germinated from the stool. He loses his superior knowledge and cries under the spell of  maya (“illusion” which deludes the living entity into forgetfulness of the Supreme Lord). Under illusion a man thinks he can be happy in this temporary material world.  After coming out of the abdomen, the child is given to the care of persons who are unable to understand what he wants, and thus he is nursed by such persons. Unable to refuse whatever is given to him, he falls into undesirable circumstances.

  • Where Sun Rays Fall On Shiva On Shivaratri Thavasi Medai

Temples which are not well-known contain wonders and rare information.

The temple at Thavasi Medai in Dindigull District,Tamil Nadu has two Female Deities,Ambal while there is only one male Deity,Mahalingeswarar.

“Following Shivarathri, the rays of Sun fall on the presiding deity continuously for 30 days in the mornings and on Sri Bhairava in the evenings.

While we see only one Ambica in Shiva shrines, there are two in this temple.

Presiding deity, Lord Mahalingeswarar graces facing east. In the shrine, right to Him, there are two Ambicas named after Meenakshi in Madurai. They are close to the wall facing south. The devotee has to peep closely into the shrine to have their darshan. They represent two powers – Icha Shakti and Gnana Shakti. Worshipping them would benefit the devotee with wisdom to know God.

As Maharshi Bharadwaja performed penance sitting on a platform with concentration on the Lord controlling all his senses, the place is known as Odukkam Thavasi Medai. Odukkam-controlling the senses; Thavasi-one performing penance and Medai-platform.

Aadhi Bhairava: Bhairava shrine is generally on the northeast corner in the temple. Here, He is just opposite Lord Shiva. As Lord Mahalineswara is all powerful, it is said that to protect the devotees from the scorching heat (Ugra), Bhairava is installed here balancing the temperature. Bhairava here is known as Aadhi Bhairava. There is a hole behind the Bhairava through which the devotees worship Lord Shiva and Bhairava before entering the temple.

Following Shivarathri, the rays of Sun God continuously fall on the Lord for thirty days during mornings and on Bhairava during the evenings.

Special pujas are performed on Magam star days remembering Maharshi Bharadwaja’s birth star.

  • Where God Cooks And Serves Vaikom

Hinduism abounds in God taking care of His Children.

We have Mathrubhootheswarar, Tiruchirapalli, who performed the job of a Mid-wife for a woman in Labor.

God can not stand the Hungry.

He has cooked for them and served.

Vaikom, Kerala, located 23 kilometers south of Ernakulam, Cochin, is the Famous Temple of Vaikaththappan,Father of Vaikom.

    Vaikom Temple
    Mahadeva Vaikom Temple

One Bilvamangalaswamy visited the Temple and bot being to see the God in the sanctum , came out only to see God Lord Siva being served Food Goddess Parvati on a Rock.

The day, Vaikkathashtami, the Eighth day of the Waning Moon in The Month of November-December,Ashtami Thithi.

The festival is for Thirteen Days , on the seventh day Shiva rides the Nandi and the next day people are fed, especially the Namboodri Brahmins.

Whoever visits the Temple should never return with an empty stomach.

All are served on The Rock.

Three Siva Lingas brought by a Demon Kara are worshiped  in three temples, one at each place.

    Vaikom,Kattuthuruthi and Ettumaanoor.

The sacred ash is the Prasad and it is believed to cure any ailment of the stomach.

Belief is that the Siva Linga placed by Khara Asura by his right hand is being worshipped at Vaikom, the one in left hand at Ettumannoor and the one by neck at Kaduthuruthy even to this day.

The Linga carried by Khara with his neck is believed to be at Kadathuruthy and the one by his left hand is at Ettumanoor. The fact that the distance from Vaikom to Kadathuruthy and from there to Ettumanoor is more or less the same, gives credence to this legend. So the Darsana of all these three Lingas on a same day is considered as good as the Siva Darsana at Kailas – the Abode of the Lord.

On a *Vritchika – Krishna paksha – Ashtami dahy (According to Malayalam Era), the Lord of Lords and God of Gods – Siva the Paremeswara appeared to the Maharshi with his consort Parvati – the Jagat Janani. The Lord proclaimed, “This place shall be known as Vyaghrapadapurma”, and disappeared. The world famous Vaikkathashtami and all connected holy festivals are observed here even to this day on the same Vrichika – Krishna*- Ashtami.

Vyaghrapada Maharshi continued the Pooja in most esteem and devotion for some time and went on pilgrimage.Months and years passed. Sri Parasurama – the Chiramjeevi was going by the sky one day. Seeing good omens alighted here and saw a Holy Siva Linga emerged in water emitting heavenly rays. He could understand that it was the Siva Linga placed by Khara. Sri Parasurama thought himself that, the holiest and noblest Siva Chaitanya could be a great refuge for the devoted who wish to attain Moksha. He consecrated the auspicious Linga here with His earnest Prayers and recitation of Siva Manthras.

The most benign Lord Siva at once appeared with his consort Parvati Devi before Parasurama. He was so pleased that the Linga was consecrated with the Manthras by Parasurama – the incarnation of Vishnu, his greatest devotee. The kind Lord Siva said to Parasurama, “From now onwards I shall stay here as Shaiva-Vaishnava Chaithanya granting all blisses and Moksha to all devotees”.

Full of joy and gratitude Parasurama performed Siva Linga pooja there for some days. Then he himself built a temple here and entrusted a noble Brahmin of Taruna village whom he taught Pooja Manthras. The Brahmin had learned all the 28 Sivagama and wore rudraksha and bhasma. Parasurama donated the whole temple with Linga to Brahmins and disappeared. It is the belief that the temple and all rites and customs are planned and fixed by Parasurama himself.

It is believed that the ‘Vyaghralayesha’ Siva gives His Blessings to the Devotees in three Bhavas or forms in the morning, noon, and evening in this Holy Temple. As Dhakshinamoorthy in the morning time, Kirathamoorthi in the noon time & Shakti Panchakshari in the evening.(Wiki)

  • Special Food Offering, Naivedyam To Gods

Hinduism is unique in that it treats Gods as one among them.

    Gotus offering in Chiadambaram
    Chidambaram Gotsu

Gods are bathed, dressed up,fed, married, sent to bedroom with consort .

The offerings to God at the end of a Pooja or Payer is mandatory.

Standard  daily offering is Betel-leaves, Betel-nuts and Plantains.

Coconut is also included during special functions.

The belief is that what plan to eat must be offered to God as a mark of thanks giving to Him for having provided us with food.

Another reason is that it is the belief of the Hindus that Food articles, whether cooked or uncooked are impure, might contain negative thought waves by those who produced them because of their personal problems or they not having been compensated adequately.

Edible products may also contain some inherent properties which may be injurious to our Physical and mental health.

By offering these to God before we eat, God relieves of these impurities and makes the food fit to eat.

For details please read my post Naivedyam, How to Offer, filed under Hinduism.

Some special food items are offered to Deities in the Temples.

    Some items offered are odd.

They are in tune with the local legend of the Deity.
