  • Do Not Think But Feel For Others

One of the disadvantages of being the head of the Family is the task of offering Advice.

Some times your advice may not be needed on an issue.

One does not know whether the information conveyed to you is for information, advice or for approval.

Some times it is for information.

In such cases if you offer advice, it is plain ignored , or worse you are told it is not required.

On that score if you keep quiet  on other occasions, you are told that you are not involved.

    You have a Hobson’s’ Choice.

In either case, you will be blamed.

It is safe, in the interest of the family, offer Advice with no great hope of being paid heed to.

In this case,if people do follow it is good; if not’ you do not get hurt because you did not expect to be heard.

Another  scenario  is expressing one’s feelings.

It is recommended that you express your feelings to others.

It so happens that I am brought up in an environment where not much of expression of emotion was encouraged and the examples were set my Father and other menfolk.

My father was of such a disposition, that when his father died, the body was in laid out in the Hall of the house in the Hindu manner, and there was my father reclining , apparently non nonchalantly  in an armed chair rocking gently.

    I was about 15 then.

I asked him as to why he did  not cry for his father’s death.

    He replied,

‘If some one can guarantee that my father will come back alive if I cry, I shall.

No amount of tears will bring him back.

    So why cry?

On another occasion when my other was lying in bed seriously afflicted with Cancer, I was half asleep around by 100 am.

My father woke me up gently and told me,

‘Your Mother is dead, now go to sleep’

    I was shocked.

it is a different matter that my father who was nearly 110  kgs came down to bout 70 kgs in a matter of six months after my mother’ death.

In another instance, when my father heard the news of my first wife’s death from me, he  did not react; he stood numb and promptly lost his power of hearing.

Not that he did not feel, only that he did not find it necessary to express his anguish or feelings as, in his opinion, it is unnecessary.

For him , his feelings are best with in himself.

He did not seek other’s approval of his Love for others such out ward expressions.

Before his death he told me ,

‘Some times, I think it is necessary that you let the others know what you  feel to make them feel good.

There is nothing wrong, now I realize.

Ensure that your emotions are genuine , not artificial .

    True.

I am guilty of the same failing.

Well it is difficult to change at my age.

To be happy and make others happy, it is necessary to express one’s feelings.

And avoid thinking for them, including offering advice.

Now we seem to be doing the reverse,

Thinking for other, not  expressing the feelings for them.

    Better change it,

  • Love-Bundle of Chemicals?

Breaking down emotions and feelings to chemical level is meaningless.

Life without feelings is not worth living.

    Feel  Life and enjoy IT.

    Story:

A team of researchers from Syracuse University has found that when a person falls in love, 12 areas of the brain work in tandem to release euphoria-inducing chemicals such as dopamine, oxytocin, adrenaline and vasopression. The love feeling also affects sophisticated cognitive functions, such as mental representation, metaphors and body image. The team, led by Professor Stephanie Ortigue, also found that falling in love can elicit not only the same euphoric feeling as using cocaine, but also affects intellectual areas of the brain. Ortigue, an assistant professor of psychology and an adjunct assistant professor of neurology, both in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University, and her team worked with another group of researchers from West Virginia University and a university hospital in Switzerland. There are other things that the researchers found. Unconditional love, like that between a mother and a child, is sparked by the common and different brain areas, including the middle of the brain. On the other hand, passionate love is sparked by the reward part of the brain, and also associative cognitive brain areas that have higher-order cognitive functions, such as body image. Their study, titled The Neuroimaging of Love, has been published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

  • Stress-Facts.

Stress is a part of human existence and trying to get rid of it will be detrimental to organism.
Stress is which enables the organism to survive.
Stress can not be eliminated for elimination of stress shall result in death.
However stress can be managed and channelized.
Human beings are ruled by,basically, by instincts.
Instincts are rudimentary forms of feelings.
    They are inbuilt.
    They are instincts of –
    -survival
    -thirst
    -hunger
    -sex
    -gregariousness
When there is a clash of instincts stress is noticed.
    for example-
If life is threatened, survival instinct takes over with its physical reactions.
Similarly, when there is a clash of instincts, stress is created.
Trying to suppress the same is detrimental to life..
    Express your self naturally.
Nothing wrong in crying , especially by men,is no sign of weakness.Apart from Time it is the best stress buster.
All emotions have their roots in instincts, specifically Survival instinct.Emotions are natural expressions of the organism to protect itself.Bottling them up will result in physical problems, for instance when in anger or in a fighting mood more adrenalin is released and if it is not released it shall affect health.
Express your feelings and emotions. To avoid unpleasantness in life, express them in a way that is socially acceptable and at the same time give vent to your feelings. This needs training and practice. Channelize emotions, not suppress them. One simple way to give vent to your anger and frustration is to punch a soft pillow till your feeling subsides or jump in private with out clothes.Especially the second one seems to be funny, try it, you shall know.
Finally avoid non vegetarian and spicy food.

    Story:
The article that struck me was about achieving good health “in 60 seconds.” Not only did this sound profoundly unbelievable, but over-simplistic. Yet here are the key points you need to keep upper-most in your mind, and go from stressed out to feeling good:

    1. Deep Breathing

When a person is stressed, breathing – deep breathing – can be a quick 60 second cure. Nitric oxide, which is a powerful blood vessel dilator, begins in your nose and travels to your lungs. It actually helps your lungs function properly. Said doctors call it “a mini meditation.” By breathing deeply you reduce your stress and you can actually keep yourself from aging faster.

As a note of my own, I would also like you to be aware of the “7 minute breath.” Under stress, we often forget, or inhibit ourselves, from taking that naturally occurring deep breath. This deep breath does come in a timely fashion – about every 7 minutes. Most of the time we are totally unaware that we are even deep breathing. However, as stress builds in your body, what you do become aware of is your inability TO get that much needed deep breathing. Relax.

    2. Don’t Forget Your Gums

If you have not heard of periodontal disease by now you either do not own a television set or read a magazine or look at ads even on the internet. However, flossing truly is another 60 second health regime you must work into your daily schedule. Under stress, aging may very well be accelerated. Yet the simple, 60 second act of time for dental hygiene can actually reduce your “real age.”

  • Stifling anger at work can kill-Reuters.

    Story:
SINGAPORE (Reuters Life!) – Men who bottle up their anger at being unfairly treated at work are up to five times more likely to suffer a heart attack, or even die from one, than those who let their frustration show, a Swedish study has found.

The study by the Stress Research Institute of Stockholm University followed 2,755 employed men who had not suffered any heart attacks from 1992 to 2003.

At the end of the study, 47 participants had either suffered an attack, or died from heart disease, and many of those had been found to be “covertly coping” with unfair treatment at work.

“After adjustment for age, socioeconomic factors, risk behaviors, job strain and biological risk factors at baseline, there was a close-response relationship between covert coping and the risk of incident myocardial infarction or cardiac death,” the study’s authors wrote.

Covert coping was listed as “letting thing pass without saying anything” and “going away” despite feelings of being hard done by colleagues or bosses.

Men who often used these coping techniques had a two to fivefold higher risk of developing heart disease than those who were more confrontational at work, the study showed.

The researchers said they could not answer the question of what might be a particularly healthy coping strategy at work, but listed open coping behavior when experiencing unfair treatment or facing a conflict as “protesting directly,” “talking to the person right away,” “yelling at the person right away” or “speaking to the person later when things have calmed down.”

The study was published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
