The Lokayukta has recommended a probe into his role and that of his four ministerial colleagues with regard to illegal mining in the state.
The report by Lokayukta Santosh Hegde, which is to be submitted soon, has also sought an investigation into the role of former Chief Minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Anil Lad, sources told PTI.
What has prompted the BJP national leaders to suddenly dissociate themselves from mining barons – Reddy brothers – powerful ministers in the B.S. Yeddyurappa-led government in Karnataka? If sources are to be believed, the ongoing investigation into the illegal mining by the Lokayukta has scared the BJPleaders, especially those supporting the Reddy brothers to the hilt in New Delhi. The Lokayukta will submit the detailed investigation report in June. If it names the Reddys in the report, it could cause major embarrassment to them as well as their supporters.
To make matters worse, chief minister Yeddyurappa on Monday said he would examine the Lokayukta report if the Reddys were named in it. “I am aware that the Lokayukta will shortly submit the report on illegal mining in Bellary. If Lokayukta names the Reddy brothers, the report will be examined by the government,” Yeddyurappa said.
The Finance ministry was aware that there was something amiss in granting of licenses of 2G.
This is proved by the fact that the MoF had written to telecom ministry.
This was not followed up.
When suitable reply has not been received from the Ministry,Chidambaram should have taken it up with the GoM or the PM.
Now we find that there are ‘Non paper Decisions'(new term for unlawful decisions), and that there were no records kept for the meeting of Raja and Chidambaram.
All tis point out to acquiescence if not active participation of Chidambaram.
As I have noted in my earlier blog,is this a quid pro quo for manipulation of last Parliament elections, about which a case is pending.
2G scam runs deep.
It appears to lead towards PMO as well as Sonia Gandhi.
Despite clear indications the media is shy of mentioning either name .
Worse still PM is considered Honest and even called as ‘hands on PM’!
Stepping up its demand for the removal of P Chidambaram from the Union Cabinet, BJP on Saturday said as Finance Minister he was as much involved in the 2G spectrum scam as then Telecom Minister A Raja and insisted that he should also be incarcerated for his complicity.
BJP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay maintained that it has now been “proved beyond doubt” that Chidambaram had connived with Raja in the 2G scam and the cover-up exercise that followed was done after taking the former into confidence.
“Chidambaram is as much responsible and culpable for this scam as Raja. His place is not where he is today (in the union cabinet) but where Raja is today,” Vijay told reporters.
The Opposition demanded that not only should Chidambaram, who is now Home Minister in UPA-II, be sacked but also sent to jail like Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi.
He claimed to have a copy of the letter written by Raja to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on November 7, 2008 in which the former has reportedly stated that he was acting on the advice of Chidambaram.
“Raja acted on Chidambaram’s advice like a nursery-class student. Later as an obedient student, he informed the Prime Minister about the whole thing,” Vijay said.
He alleged that these ministers have “looted the wealth” of the country when they were given the mandate to protect its interest.
Karunanidhi ,from the view of Party,can not afford to leave the congress fold ,considering that Jayalalithaa is in power in the Sate and she has already made her intentions of going after Karunanidhi clear, by appointing a Commission to inquire into the expenses of building a new Secretariat,reviving the Arasu Cable Net work,among other things.
Worse, the DMK is not even the leader of the Opposition, that goes to Vijayakanth.
Another Minister Dayanidhi Maran is likely to follow A.Raja to Tihar Jail.
More than anything else, Karunanidhi has to ensure he is not hounded out..
If he leaves now it will only confirm his guilt on 2G Scam.
Meanwhile his other house pressures are on to retaliate against Congress for arresting Kanimozhi.
;Congress does not seem to oblige, with Ghulam Nabi Azad declaring while Congress is sympathetic towards him,it is helpless in Court Orders on 2G Scam.
To arrive at a balance Karunanidhi is expected to announce the resignation of Ministers from the Cabinet and might offer issue based(?) support.
Congress,if it goes the DMK way it will be accused of sheltering the Corrupt(It is).
If it wants to jettison the DMK, it is difficult to make up 18 MPs,considering BSP/SP can not be relied upon as the UP Elections are approaching.
To depend on other groups is trickier.
Seizing the moment, AIADMK Chief is leaving for Delhi on 13 June to stitch up the Third Front.
She is alive to the fact the BJP is losing ground as reflected in the recent Elections,the Communists are nearly wiped out in the country,the Congress is on the back foot on 2G Scam,ISRO scam and other scams and that Sonia had a senior party leaders’ meet a couple of days ago after which the Congress leaders became strident in attacking Ramdev and Anna Hazare,that the Elections may be advanced.

An upset M Karunanidhi could decide tomorrow on the withdrawal of the DMK Ministers at the Centre at a meeting of the party’s top brass in Chennai.
This is the impression gaining ground in Congress circles here ahead of the emergency meeting of the DMK’s high-level Action Committee.
Note that he wants 11,000 Youth of the Country to take to arms not for the cause against Corruption, but to fight if his followers are intimidated by the Government.
It is also of interest to know that his call to arms came afer Home MinisterP.Chidambaram hinted at action against Ramdav for his Trust’s illegal activities and his aides criminal connections.
True to form ,Ramdev clarified his ‘call to arms’.

The BJP which has been rubbing its hands in glee to the extent of an elderly Sushma Swaraj dancing with gay abandon in Rajghat-what does it have it to say?
Battered and bruised in the recently concluded Elections, with a President whom only the top few of the BJP know, and short of any issue to take on the imagination of the voters, the BJP seems to have caught the tiger by its tail.
Coming to Ramdev and Anna Hazare,while Ramdev goes on fast for a fixed time ,Anna Hazare fasts for a day(which is good-wish it had been an Ekadasi)and sets a date to go on fast again.
If these people are really serious they must fast like Gandhiji at a stretch till their goal,if there is any, is achieved.
While Anna Hazare is naive and gullible with no political skills to manage a Movement,Ramdev is a Criminal,hiding behind the cloak of Yoga.
Use of Fasting as an instrument of protest might lose its potency because of its misuse .

New Delhi: After Baba Ramdev‘s remark that he will raise an army of 11.000 men and women who will be trained to attack if action is taken against them was declared “anti-national” by the government, the yoga teacher’s spokesperson, S K Tijarawala, issued a statement clarifying the arms call. Released late on Wednesday night, the statement said Baba Ramdev did not mean training of guns or bombs and the intention is not to take law in their hands.

We find Ramdev jumping from the Dais,daring the Police,later declaring that they could arrest him only if they arrest all those who were fasting with him,Anna Hazare distancing him away from Ramdev,later declaring Ramdev his support,The Government rolling out the Red Carpet for Ramdev and later cracking down on him at the dead of the night,Ramdev signing a document, denying it, only to declare that the document was obtained under duress,his aide is a forger who has illegal passport who is untraceable…now, Sushma Swaraj ,Leader of Opposition in the Parliament,dancing and declaring that she danced to pep up the workers, who were protesting along with her to protest against the attack on Ramdev at the Rajghat where Gandhiji,the Apostle of Peace and Non-violence rests!
At the least Sushma Swaraj could have behaved her age while behaving the way she did.

Unfazed by the attack on her for breaking into a jig at Rajghat during a protest, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today hit back at Congress saying those criticising her are suffering from “mental slavery” as she had the right to dance on patriotic songs anywhere in India.
A combative Swaraj said the Congress is trying to divert attention from the “main issues” of corruption and black money and questioned whether such comments had the blessings of party chief Sonia Gandhi.
“I would like to ask Sonia Gandhi whether her party has stooped to such a low level and whether it is under her consent that a party singing patriotic songs is being dubbed as a party of dancers?” Swaraj said. …
Jun 7: Congress today (June 7) demanded the resignation of Opposition Leader in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj after visuals showing the top BJP leader dancing at Mahatma Gandhi‘s samadhi Rajghat sparked a controversy.
“By dancing at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj has not only insulted Gandhiji but all the freedom fighters and the entire countrymen. She should resign from the post of the Leader of the Opposition and apologise to the people,” AICC general secretary B K Hariprasad said…
The controversy erupted yesterday when visuals showing Swaraj dancing at Rajghat while on a protest were aired on television channels.
However, Swaraj defended her act saying she was dancing to the tune of patriotic songs to boost the morale of the cadres which is in keeping with the traditions of the party.
