BSNL is offering free dialup internet connection for a short time. It is to woo more people to use internet. Even though bsnl dialup internet connection is slow, compared to bsnl broadband connection, it is better than nothing during emergency. There is no registration and is free for all landline customers for few months.
This is how you can access the BSNL dailup connection. First, connect your computer with your telephone line, by the way you need a modem. Even though it is free, you have to pay for the local call telephone charges for the duration of your internet usage.
Spurred and stung by a Police Officer‘s statement in Canada ‘if people want to be safe from rape ,let them not dress as a slut’ . some women have come out on the street with revealing and provoking dress/undress to express their Freedom to Dress.
Poor Police officer, who might be thinking of his daughter ,sister!
If some want to dress the way that would arouse men,it is welcome.
Men should welcome it.
If some one wants to invite men, let them and face the consequences.
Why should the society crib about it?
Slutwalk.
True.clothes don’t rape,but it invite men.
I saw another image in Times of India dated 7Dec where it displays a girl in short pants with a placard
‘Believe it or not!
My short skirt has NOTHING
To Deal with you’
Then for whom?
I wish these people could show these photos and their radical thoughts to their children and grandchildren in future.
Some Freedom and some feminism!

Local activists’ desire to keep pace with their global counterparts received a setback on Sunday: SlutWalk Bangalore was called off after police withdrew permission to the event in the wake of threats from unidentified right-wing groups, including a women’s outfit, to disrupt it.
Late Saturday evening, a person, claiming to be speaking on behalf of the women’s group, threatened the organizers that “whoever takes part in the SlutWalk would be beaten up with brooms”. Around 7.30pm, police informed the organizers that the permission for the event had been withheld. This was confirmed in writing a couple of hours later, stating the permission has been “withdrawn for security reasons”.
Senior IPS Officers have recommended issue of Passport to Don Muthappa Rai who was involved in many criminal activities (including murder); cases were lodged against him and he was acquitted as every witness turned hostile.
He had fled to Dubai and was repatriated with great difficulty.
The officer states that Muthappa Rai had helped the Police nab a culprit in Dubai when Rai was in Dubai; that Rai is into Philanthropy and is reformed; if he is not issued the Passport, they will approach the Court.
What non-sense is this?
A Police officer, that too an IPS at that, to even think of recommending issue of Passport to a criminal, especially because of the fact he had to be repatriated.
The officer also says that he got help in nabbing a culprit from Rai, when he was in hiding in Dubai.
Had he disclosed this to the Department?
If one were to approach the Court for issue of Passport to Criminals, then why have Police verification report for issue of Passport?
In these matters Police report is to be free of interference, least of all from Khaki.
‘The city police, it seems, are taking no chances with the application of Muthappa Rai, president of Jaya Karnataka, for a “good conduct” report required to obtain a passport. Rai reportedly has a serious medical problem and needs treatment abroad.
While turning down his request for a police verification report, a mandatory document for a passport, the police have made some file notings. The notings, accessed by Bangalore Mirror, read: “Rai has a serious crime record against him and may indulge in more serious offences if issued a passport and allowed to go abroad. It is a different matter that Rai has been acquitted for insufficient evidence, or because of witnesses turning hostile in almost every case.”…
Rai was deported from Dubai after being caught there with a fake passport in 2001. He was in jail and faced a trial in almost every case against him. He was acquitted in the murder cases of builder Subbaraju and rowdy Seena. Both murders took place while Rai was holed up in Dubai.
“Two retired SP-rank officers approached us on behalf of Rai, saying he is now reformed and a responsible citizen. They told us he is into social work and needs to go for medical treatment to the hospital in Singapore where Tamil superstar Rajinikanth was treated for a kidney problem. But we decided to turn down Rai’s application,” a senior police officer told Mirror….
Explaining why Rai needs a passport, a retired police officer who recommended his case to the police said, “Rai had helped the Karnataka police in nabbing an accused in the murder of Karwar MLA Vasanth Asnotikar in 1999-2000.
“The accused was holed up in Dubai, where Rai was in those days. He wanted my help in getting passport clearance from the police so that he can go abroad for treatment. He has developed a cyst in his kidney and needs the kind of treatment which is only available abroad.”
The officer added, “Even the state crime records bureau has given a report stating that there is no case pending against Rai. He has been acquitted in all the cases. He has his business here and is leading a reformed life. He will surely come back after the treatment and has no intention of going back to crime. He is entitled to a passport, and the police can issue a clearance with certain conditions. If they don’t, we will approach the courts.”
There is a Legend that who take false oath before Lord Manjunatha, the Presiding Deity at Dharmasthala, shall suffer the consequences. Though Yeddiyurappa , after having declared to take oath, had backed out quoting BJPPresident’s advice, seems to have paid the price, by losing power and now a FIR has been filed by Lokayukta against him.
I have been thinking of writing on The Gita for about five years now.
I have been reading, not studying The Bhagavad Gita for the past 30 years.
But recently I found out, due to certain instances in my Life, to my shock, that I have been deceiving myself that I have read The Gita and that I am prepared to face things in Life as mentioned by The Lord of Enlightenment.
It had not gone into my heart.
It had appealed to my reason alone.
I have never felt it with my heart.
However much one reads, studies these Great Sayings, so long as one grasps it with Reason, the ‘Sayings’ remain just ‘Sayings’
When one is hit by Realities of Life where one can turn to none for solutions nor can solve, The Gita comes to the rescue.
It tells you that things are what they are and it is your ability and ”vairaggaya’-determination, that can help you sail through.
I am not a Scholar.
I, who was more an Atheist/Agnostic by Reasoning(so I thought) ,have been exposed to the Vedas by the Acharya of Sringeri, Sri Abhinava Vidya Theertha at the age of 29,.
Though knowing that I was not fit enough to learn the Vedas, because of my Drinking habits then and being irregular in my performing ‘sandhya vandana ‘The Noble Soul told me that I had the urge to know, despite fact that I quarreled with him on a minor point in Sastra, considering myself to be learned because I had a degree in Philosophy and that he will teach me whenever he visited Bangalore.( My father’s elder cousin, who was a scholar in Vedas and me had an argument over an interpretation of a point in The Smriti and I suggested that we refer this to The Swamiji who was then camping at Bangalore.
When we went to meet him we were prevented from meeting him by those around him and were literally being pushed out.
The Swamiji was near by.
On hearing my raised voice he asked what the matter was.
I explained him the argument I have with my father’s Cousin, who was standing nearby.
The Acharya replied that he has no time( namakku purusath illa)
I retorted’ Hardly any people read the Vedas, that too at my age.
You are the head of The mutt established by The Great Shankaracharya.
You are supposed to live by Vedas and it is your Duty to clarify doubts on the Vedas.
Yet you say ‘you have no time’
I can only surmise that you do not know any thing about the Vedas to clarify my doubts.
Or you do not want to.
In either case you are unfit to occupy the Peetha of Sri Sankaracharya.’
I walked out.
After about two or three hours a man from the mutt came to my room in the same area(i do not know how they found out my room) and asked me to accompany him to meet The Acharya.
I accompanied him with my Father’s Cousin with the apprehension that The Acharya was going to curse me.
The Acharya made me sit down in His presence and made me repeat what I said.
He told me’ You are right. But at the same time you should also remember that I have to run this Mutt and by paying attention to people with money, though they are not pious, I raise funds to enable me to perform Vedic karmas for World Welfare and help people who are needy and it helps me to perform Upanayana and marriage of the poor.
But still what you said is true.
I should not have allowed people around me to send you out.I am sorry.
Now you tel me what you want and he solved the problem ‘Incidentally my interpretation of The Smriti was right .
Then he told me that he wants to introduce me to The Vedas and that I should come to him whenever he is in Bangalore.
I told him that I was not Religious in the real sense of the term and that I drink.
He told me not to Drink on the days I come to visit him and told me that I can leave and that I should come at 3 pm the next day.
I went to him , whenever I was in Bangalore( I was in a touring job, for about Six years.
