Nagesh, a Thespian for whose Dates even Sivaji Ganesan and MGR used to wait has not been honoured properly either at the National or Regional level.
Artistes who can not even hold a candle to Nagesh have been bestowed with Padma Awards, not Nagesh.
Now the Industry is waking up to his talents after his death, that too to make money, by introducing Nagesh’s character in Rajnikanth Movie ‘Kochaidayaan’.
Will Nagesh’s Family be paid?
”
It’s now confirmed that work is on to getNagesh to share screenspace with Rajinikanth, albeit through animation. The buzz earlier was that the veteran would be seen in a dual role and that the team is busy recreating two looks for Nagesh – one from his Kadhalikka Neramillai and Panchathanthiram – but now, we hear that there’s just going to be one Nagesh.
A source in the know reveals, “Work is on in full swing to recreate the image of Nagesh through graphics. He will be seen in a single, but prominent role in the film. Since the film is going to be made using motion capture technology, the team is planning to use the technology to its fullest extent.”
Whatever Rajnikanth does, his open nature devoid of Guile ,comes to the fore.
His announcement that it does not behove of K.Balachander to receive a Trophy named after Rajinikanth, Rajni has decided to change the name of the trophy.
Rajni and K.B.
Such an inborn humility from one who has scaled unimaginable heights…!
Superstar Rajinikanth recently participated at the Annual Celebration of his wife Latha‘s Ashram school.
The actor who came up to the stage only at the final, since he wanted to remain as a guest only. Later he presented the awards to all who are honored with their respective titles.
But Rajinikanth hesitated for one thing when he was asked to hand over a award in the title ‘Rajinikanth award’ to his mentor K Balachandar.
He stated that ‘I am not deserved to give a award in my name to my guru, so i request that from next year that it should be renamed as K Balachandar Award. The Superstar proved that he still considers K Balachander as his guru with utmost repect.
Later K Balachandar who went emotional with Rajini’s speech stated that ‘ Rajinikanth has always been so respectful towards me and he has proven that once again’.
Compare this with Karunanidhi‘s habit of instituting trophies after his name and having them distributed by himself with his sycophants, including Vaali and Vairamuthu , eulogizing Karunanidhi in syrupy prose imagining to be poetry!
Star Vijay Telecast on 11th December 2011 on the occasion of Super Star Rajnikanth‘s birth Day, was by and large up to the Class of Vijay Tv.
Star Vijay does an enormous amount of research for every one of its shows, be it a popular entertainment or a serious issue.
And they know how to make a popular mix that satisfies every segment.
The programme on Rajni on 11/12/20011 was one such.
It had nearly every thing to satisfy Rajni’s fans.
It roped in Rajni’s daughter Aiswarya Dhanush to be a Guest and had her narrate the professional and personal side of Rajini.
She did the show with aplomb.
Yet she was very diplomatic on tricky questions like the ones on Rajni’s desire to lead his Fan Club mare vigorously and the love affair of her parents.
The involvement of the Fans who had assembled in a great number had their quota s well.
Think of a woman who reported that she fell unconscious when she heard Rajni was unwell (that too when she was riding a two Wheeler) ,of a Professor who uses Rajni’s Film Dialogues, to motivate the students to translate from Tamil to English,of a middle-aged man who had his Family’s head tonsured… ..all this can not be attributed to film presence alone.
Some are Blessed with it.
The segment where Bhagyaraj spoke of Rajni(in a programme that followed ) could not hide the fact that Bhagya Raj seems to have only a grudging admiration of Rajni as reveled when he explained about the film ‘Sivappu Manithan,
The jarring note in the entire show was the narration of Rajni’s illness where the participants and the guests sounded as though there were mouthing Obituary.
This could have been handled with more sensitivity.
Amitabh as usual was crisp and his words seemed to have come from his heart while SRK did a PR job.
There might be number of Stars to day, starting from Super Star,Ultimate Star,Rebel Star etc.
But it was Dev Anand who really started the trend of Super Stardom in India.
Rajesh Khanna successfully aped his mannerisms and became a Star overnight.
With no great acting talent,in the time of the great entertainer Raj Kapoor and Thespian Dilip Kumar, to survive in the industry needed some doing.
But Dev is a class act.
He ruled the hearts of both men and women with his tilted hat, full sleeved shirt buttoned up to the neck, scarf wrapped around his neck(irrespective of the scene or climate),jaunty stride and an impish smile..who can forget him!
His approach to life was simple-it is to be lived to the full, come what may.
Zest for work…., work and nothing else mattered to him.
He never felt old.
People who were younger to him by 30 years found it difficult to keep pace with him.
They never felt that they were with a senior man both professionally and chronologically.
He inspired them.
Kishore Kumar was his alter ego ,
Dev Anand made him initially.
How many new faces he had introduced…and most of them survived’..a feat!
His films Guide, Gumnaam,Hare RamaHare Krishna.. the list of sheer entertainers is endless.
RIP.
‘
He acted, directed and produced till the end with his last film ‘Chargesheet’ being released this year when he was all of 88 and still raring to go, as ebullient and ageless as ever.
He was the unchallenged king of the black and white era with movies such as ‘Munimji’,‘CID’ and ‘Hum Dono’ and then moved into the coloured age with classics like ‘Jewel Thief’ and ‘Johny Mera Naam‘. He provided the launch pad for some of tinsell town’s most remembered head-turners such as Zeenat Aman and Tina Munim.
Active till his last breath with his film projects, Dev Anand was Bollywood’s true evergreen living legend. He acted as the lead in more than 110 movies. His 2011 release‘Chargesheet’, in which he acted and directed as well, became his swan song. The prolific star also released an autobiography Romancing with Life in September 2007.
Fame brought Anand his own share of heartbreaks. While millions of Indian women went to bed with his photographs under their pillows, Anand himself lost his heart to the superstar of the era and co-star, Suraiya. Admittedly, he also came close to proposing to his Hare Rama Hare Krishna co-star Zeenat Aman. But he married Kalpana Kartik after their successful film Taxi Driver.
“I never give myself a chance to get depressed. I think ahead,” he would say.
His first colour film, ‘Guide’, which was directed by his brother Vijay Anand, with Waheeda Rehman in 1965, became a cult movie and is remembered as one of his best works.
President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Speaker Meira Kumar joined millions to condole Dev Anand’s death. “Dev Anand was a great artiste who entertained generations of cinema lovers over five decades. He was an embodiment of a life long passion for acting and film making. I join millions of his fans in mourning his death,” Singh said in his statement.’
I do not understand why Javed is talking through his hat.
I know tens of songs in Hindi and Tamil that are more vulgar and more naked than ‘Kolaveri’, including some from the films scripted by Javed with Salim.
There were /are Tamil lyrics worse and cruder than ‘Kolaveri’.
Try out the old one ‘kaikku adakkamaa, kadichchup paaka vaatama from ‘elanthappayam from ‘Panama Paasama ‘ penned by the great Kannadasan who regretted for the lines later.(means-compact to hold in the palm, suitable to nibble)
Or ‘Eppadi, eppadi vayasukku vandadhu epadi’ by Vaali(How,how did you come of age).
There had been more vulgar songs even before 60’s.
There have been reports that some teachers from Tamil Nadu expressing objection to the lines’ handula glassu..glassule Scotchu'( glass in hand,Scotch in the glass)
As though children do not know of this, with the Government maintaining Wine shops even near the schools!
This song, as I have mentioned earlier in my blog ,is ordinary,Music mediocre, but that does not make that it should not be a Hit.
The song, at best, can be said to be amateurish and fun-may be why, it is a rage!
If children want to tease girls, they have better vocabulary, this does not mean that the Lyricists should be irresponsible.
They might exercise restraint for they too have children.
Film makers.who are in an influential medium, should have social responsibility.
* I have not quoted Hindi Lyrics because my it is not my mother tongue and I could feel better in mine.
I have not quoted more vulgar lines from Tamil for in that case this Blog will become porn.
Javed Ahthar 0f Salim-Javed is reported to have remarked that the Lyrics of Kolaveri is indecent.
The Why this kolaveri di song from actor Dhanush’s Tamil film3 has become one of the most popular songs on the internet. The song’s popularity can be gauged by the fact that every other day a new version of the same song is being uploaded and shared by its fans. One of the first in Bollywood to appreciate the song was superstar Amitabh Bachchan and once he had approved of it, the rest simply followed suit. But the song which has now crossed 13 million hits on Youtube hasn’t gone down well with lyricist Javed Akhtar who didn’t mince words expressing his disregard for the song. He posted a message on Twitter, “Kolaveri-D. Every one is praising the robes but the emperor is naked. Tune ordinary, singing substandard, words an insult to sensibility.” The fans of the ‘Kolaveri’ song didn’t take kindly to Akhtar’s feedback on the song. In response to Akhtar, one of them tweeted, “Plz… I liked “Kolavari Di” n song is a new youth anthem… n “Meri Laundry Ka Ek Bill” remember ?? nana na na na?? In defense, the poet tweeted, “What kind of logic is this even if all my songs are trash, meaningless, unbearable how does that make this Kolaveri D good?” Wethinks Javed saab is simply overreacting. The song was made for a lark and has been liked by people who apparently are not highly inclined towards life-changing literary work.
