Sanatana dharma and Tamil go hand in hand, contrary to the misinformation by vested interests to divide Bharathavarsha.
Ancient Tamil literature speaks highly of Sanatana dharma.
Tamil king Perunchotru Udiyan took part in Mahabharata battle and provided food to Pandava and Kaurava armies.
Madurai Meenakshi’s father ,Malayathdwaja Pandya, also called as Saranga, took part in the war.
Lord Krishna married a Pandyan Princess, had a daughter through her and married her off to a Pandyan prince.
Balarama visited south and worshiped Subrahmanya.
Please read my articles filed under Hinduism.
The Religious practices of the Tamils differed in that they did not worship fire,Agni.
Shiva was considered the supreme Deity and Vishnu, Subrahmanya, Devi,Varuna, Indra were worshipped.
Though there was this difference, the fundamental principles of Sanatana Dharma were in vogue.
For example, the evolution of the five elements.
‘Akashat Vayuhu, Vayur Agnihi, Agnir Apaha, Adyah Pruthivi, Pruthivya Oshadhayaha, Oshadhayo Annam, Annaath Purushaha’- Taitriya Upanishad.
The same is expressed in Tamil Sangam Classic Paripadal.
Meaning.
Out of Space was born Air ,
Of Air,Fire,
Of Fire,Water,
Of Water,Earth,
Of Earth,Medicine
Of Medicine, Food’
Please note that Food is considered as Medicine.
There is a saying in Siddha system of Medicine that
Food is Medicine and
Medicine.
உணவே மருந்து,
மருந்தே உணவு’
Goes to prove that Tamil and Sanatana Dharma are inseparable.
*Tamil meaning of the poem calls this evolution of Five elements as happening during evolution.
