I posted an article on the Mass grave unearthed in Sri Lanka.

I received a comment , which I am reproducing below and offer my comment on them.

I write objectively , based on facts and Documents.

If my views are wrong I am willing to be corrected, but the rebuttal must be based on facts, Documents and not innuendo and abuse .

Comment Received.

“The mass graves in matale and any other place in SL is a symbol of tormented past of SLn people. The good thing is SLn people have been resilient and built their lifes back whatever they went through in late 80s. However this blog post seems more like an attempt to sling mud at sri lanka and its people.
1. Matale mass graves are no doubt connected to JVP insurgency. However continuous mention of tamils in this try to create an impression this is a grave of tamil civilians.
2. Matale mass grave is a result of SLA’s anti insurgency campaign. Whatever the bad it did ultimately it saved Slns and its people from a far brutal Marxist campaign. Trying to paint this in black and white is distorting the whole scenario.
3. Matale mass grave might contain skeletons of innocents as well as armed rebels.
4. The counter insurgency of SLA has been adopted by Indian government in india during anti-khalistan movement in Punjab. So this is nothing new. This has happened in india as well. Saying SL is the Uganda of Idi Amin is an attempt of distorting the whole picture and slinging mud using dead bodies for one’s own political agendas.
Therefore though this blog post try to seems to be sympathetic (unsuccessfully) to the ones died in Matale this is an attempt with a political agenda”

My reply.

1.For points 1 to 3.

I have clearly mentioned in the post  that the dead could have been.

“It could be the result of the standoff between  JVP and The Government, LTTEand Government, or The Marxists  or innocent Tamils.

Over 200 bodies were found at the last count”

The comment makes no sense as the writer has echoed my views on this aspect from the same blog!

Point 2 of the comment.

Khalistan. No body denies that there Operation Blue Star and the initiative was done in Public view and, mind you, Sikhs, the pillars of India, were a part of the Operation,

How many Tamil officers were in the Killing of the Tamils?

The writer says,

Excellent! Not only the Sri Lankans kil;l the Tamils, Muslims but Sri Lankans as well.

If this can not be compared to Idi Amin Regime. shall I compare it with Emperor Asoka of lord Buddha?

The writer conveniently omits the fact in the post that,

‘As fate would have it ,that another activist who played the role of the ombudsman to the grieving parents, whose offspring had been snatched away by the State military apparatus and deadly para- military groups’ is now the President of Sri Lanka. When Mahinda Rajapaksa went to Geneva, he attempted to smuggle, concealed in a false compartment of his suitcase, the gory pictures of headless corpse of State terrorism in 1989-90. He was stopped at the airport and the photographs were confiscated..

Successive Sri Lankan Governments, including that of previously activist President Chandrika Kumaratunga, let past military atrocities be swept under the carpet, despite the fact that she herself led the campaign for the excavation of the suspected mass grave in Suriyakanda. That highly emotive campaign was the catalyst in Kumaratunga’s speedy rise to the Presidency of Sri Lanka…”

Ironically the source for this blog post is not a Tamil magazine or a News paper, but from a Sri Lanka paper

    Happy to have inspired you. And next time do not mix up words like nationality and ethnicity and get hold of a dictionary before spreading propaganda like genocide.

    I am the original blogger whose comment you have quoted and think you ve done a rebuttal. Let me respond.
    1. Saying it could have been the result of the standoff between JVP and the gov, LTTE and gov, or Marxists or innocent tamils is not the same as my claim that it is certainly connected to the JVP insurgency in 88-89. I hope you can understand the difference between the two. In case you don’t, I didn’t leave any speculation in my claim for anything else other than JVP insurgency while you wanted to squeeze in Tamils into it. Unlike you I am from SL and knowing the geographical location, I can with certainty say this is connected to JVP insurgency. The central parts of the country where Matale is was a hot bed of JVP insurgency and gov counter actions.

    And no you haven’t echoed the same views like I did.
    2. Khalistan was not what you want to make it look like. If that was under Public’s view that is one of the rare massacres in full public view. Search about KPS Gill and how he tortured people. It is said that more than 5000 people had died in your full public view operation. Your argument that Sikhs were part of Indian army doesn’t absolve my point that anti Khalistani movement was a kin to Lanka’s anti JVP movement. Even JVP were Sinhalese murdered by Sinhalese. So having officers from the same ethnicity is not a guarantee that there won’t be cruelties. Before trying to score political points in your agenda, learn some logic.
    And for your questions, yes we have had Tamil officers in army, one was awarded a medal for bravery in the war against LTTE. Tamils were largely engaged in SLA intelligence services and many tamil policemen were involved in counter terror operations earlier. Almost all of them were killed by LTTE while India was sponsoring LTTE.
    And learn about Kashmir.
    3. I read your bio and it seemed you are an educated person but your demeanor and way of argument don’t suggest so. First lesion Sri lankan is a nationality and tamil is an ethnicity and Muslim is a religious identity. If you want to spew your hatred venom on Sinhala people you should have written it “Not only Sinhala people kill Tamils, Moor but Sinhala as well”. Sri Lankan is a nationality of many ethnicities. And to give you some knowledge on facts, Sinhala have killed tamils and tamils have killed Sinhala as well. The reality of what a war is.
    Sinhala people had never killed Moor in anyway and they are not at war with each other. If you check Kathankudy, palliyagodalla, Akuressa bomb you will notice tamils killing Moor people. Moor people were an integral part in our armed forces.
    4. Sri Lanka is not the first country to face a war and not the first country to fight insurgencies with an iron hand. If you call SL, Idi Amin’s country it just shows how pathetically ignorant you are about Idi Amin and civil wars around the world and of course your racism.
    5. I didn’t omit anything in your article, I just answered the points that I thought that warranted a reply. MR going to UN at that time is not a secret you have to tell me. As a Lankan who very well know what my people went through knows it. The reason I didn’t point it out is the simple reason I didn’t question it.
    At first I though you were misunderstood soul. But in reality you are a racist hateful and ignorant person who tries to vilify my people over their own dead bodies. Look around the world and look at your own country before pointing at SL.

    And publish this reply as well, but I hardly expect that decency from you.

      .I have published your reply.
      I have spoken for the Sri Lankans as well.
      As to the killing of Sikhs, you might read some of my posts on this and you shall know my views.
      I see that there is no feeling of guilt for having killed your own’nationals’ let alone the Genocide of the Tamils.
      Sri Lanka is a Nation which is self made, no contributions from the Tamils; it has its own native Religion , Buddhism which it follow to the letter and spirit.
      Tamil women raped themselves and Tamils killed themselves and Rajapakshe is an Avatar of Buddha.
      The entire world is wrong on genocide.

        I dont want to question what you write on Sikhs and Operation Blue star. i pointed out to it when you point at SL implying SL was the only country to fight back insugergency with an iron hand. I need nt waste my time on what your views are on Sikh genocide when it is clear when you write, it is a full public view operation. may be your were refering to the killing of Sikh youth in the streets. I did not say SL was perfect, that was the point of my initial post, but i pointed out the hypocrasy in your claims and naked racism.

        And you fail again. Nationality is a broad term. May be your vocabulory is not that strong enough to understand it. Sinhala is not a nationality. My feelings for my fellow countrymen is strong and you are not a person to question that. Every one in SL of all ethnicities were victimised by the war which was made bloodier by your own previous government. You dont have a right to question my feelings for my country and my people (of all races).

        And about the loosely used word genocide, yes there was no genocide. There were excesses. There is a difference between facts and propaganda. It is that your inbred racism, and hatred against Sri lanka and Sinhala people that makes you clutch on to propaganda that gives you a temporary mental masterbation.

        I dont know what you write about Sri Lanka, it seems in India education is not that of high quality, at least the ones people of your caliber have access to. Sri lanka has a tamil componenet as much as India has a Muslim component. And Buddhism though foreign to SL, it was in SL that Buddhism was written on a book first time. When the Brits conquered your country, it was the books and inscriptions in SL that helped them to understand what is in Sanchi and Mahabodhi are. If not for SL, Buddha is only a Krishna’s avatar. Whenever the tamil women were raped when there were substantial evidence, the perpetrators have been punished and if such cases are found in the future they will be punished as well, quite unlike the victims of IPKF.

        You said you were writing a rebuttal, and when i counter argued you have nothing else but repeated hateful venom against Sri lanka and Sinhala people. MR is not a buddha, but he is an Arjun who was at war.

        It is both funny and sad that the only rebuttal you are able to do is racist venom sprewing against people in my country, that too on their dead bodies. What a pathetic racist loser!

    Good rebuttal from your side.There is no doubt that the Land of Buddha has been indulging in ethnic genocide of a particular race.
