  • Dangers Of Google Search Health Conditions

Recently I came across two instances where Google search becomes dangerous.

In one instance, a Girl of about, settled in the US, was eating Dumpling in a Restaurant with her colleagues.

    The dish was quite hot.

    TMJ jpeg
    TMJ condition

While engaged in conversation with her friends, shed did not notice it was hot and popped it her mouth.

It was so hot that as a reflex action swallowed it instead of spitting it out.

The piece got stuck in her throat, she could not speak, swallow, her face turned bluish and she could not breathe.

People around her did not notice it, but some one near by noticed it and gave her a slap in her back and she swallowed it.

Otherwise she would have choked herself to death.

Air Marshall Mukherjee of Indian Air force died this way aboard an aircraft this way.

But this post is not about the dangers of eating with out some basic precautions, while engaged in conversation.

( Hinduism forbids speech/conversion while eating).

The girl being educated a web addict searched Google for her condition, symptoms.

She found a lot of cases where the writers have expressed their problems of not being able to touch food for months because of Fear.

The girl got scared and abstained from eating for a week, when some one told her harshly to eat and ate normally.

In another instance, a girl searched Google for pain in the cheek, Jaws and got landed with people writing about symptoms of TMJ, where some one has written that  she has the condition for twenty years, in incurable pain and had been under Streiod(?) medication , which has complicated the issues by adding Insomnia to the list.

And this girl has started doing the rounds with the doctors , starting from Dentist,ENT specialist, Neurologist,Neurosurgeon and took FBC ( Full Blood Count) Test, urine Culture, Sputum and Stools.

    All the parameters were normal.

The girl started imagining she has some disease hat would stay with her for Life and she would lose her sanity!

She did not sleep for two days, not more than 5 Hours a day.

She now imagines she has Insomnia and wanted to meet with a Psychiatric Counselor.

Having studied Psychology and known what this is about I forbid her.

I scolded her very rudely , counseled her and she is alright now.

    Lessons.

1.Medicine is an evolving Science, if not exact.

Doctors proceed from Symptoms to disease and not the other way around.

One symptom may be indicative of any disease, some of them serious, some worth ignoring.

By trial and error or experience or both, Doctors diagnose.

It is foolish to replace a Doctor with Internet search.

Still worse is to reading fro among the first twenty or so results in Google search.

I find people normally taking the first two or three results of Google search as Gospel.

    Nothing can be more wrong.

Authentic information need not appear in the first results.

The first page search results are determined not by so much by the  correctness of the information  but by keywords, the search term used, and then the number of times the article has been read.

If the initial query has been incorrect, the site has used the correct key words though wrong information, the results will appear in the first twenty results.

Therefore the first results in Google search need not be correct.

Again unless you know the fundamentals of medicine do not read internet, whatever the site says it is.

And remember our Body is the best system in the world to rectify itself.

Do not brood over illnesses, consult a Doctor , have faith in him and follow his advice.

Take tie in finding out a general physician who does not prescribe you medicine at the drop of a hat, or who sends you for a lot of tests even for a small thing.

    And stick with him.

Such a doctor need not be expensive.

I go to a doctor who is at least 50 years old, who checks me up physically, allows my body to heal without resorting to heavy dosage and one who is cal and not in a hurry.

  • Mental Tension Relief Mantra Mrita Sanjivini Mantra

We hear the words ‘Stress,Mental Tension’ often these days.

People are overtly concerned about this issue.

I am of the opinion that this is an unwanted concept imported from the west and is being used daily by every one to such an extent ,I have recently

found out that even a five-year old was saying that he is under tension.

My view is that it is a part of the body mechanism to survive and one need not be concerned about this.

On its own this stress or tension is productive if you do not dwell on it.

Start analyzing it you become miserable.

This is a mental condition reinforced by constantly thinking about it.

This process harms your physical and mental health and may even shorten your Life.

Ignore it, proceed with what you have been doing and enjoying.

This needs Practice and mental toughness.

However there are mantras for this in Hinduism .

    Mruyunjaya Yantra.Image.jpg
    Mruyunjaya Yantra.

Though this Mantra is not specifically meant for this, it is very powerful.

The Mantra brings in Peace, relieves Stress and prevents untimely death.

It also brings in wealth and power.

This Mantra was initially known only to Sukracharya, the Asura Guru.

The Devas got it by subterfuge from him by using Kacha, the son of his arch rival and Deva Guru, Bruhaspati .

This mantra was used to raise the Dead.

This was used by Sage Agastya to wake up Laksmana when he was struck with Mohasnastra by Inderjith in the Ramayana.

Mohanastra creates mental confusion and makes one lose Consciousness.

The physical Herb equivalent to this Mantra is Sanjivni, which Lord Anjaneya brought to revive Lakshmana.

For relief from Stress mental tension, Confusion and for better Health chant this mantra 108 times a day for 45 days.

For Self Realization, chant this Mantra  One lakh(100000) times spread over 45 days. The

It is known as the Amrit Sanjivani Nidya Mantra.

  • Desire Avarice Jealousy Lifestyle.

    I am hurt.

    Mad rush for things.
    Consumerism.Image Credit. http://philebersole.wordpress.com/2013/03/30/consumerism/

    I am unhappy.

These are the most heard from people.

This is also reported  to be cause of Stress.

People  attribute this to the changed Lifestyle and a host of other factors, like work pressure, peer Pressure.

But there are more fundamental issues involved.

    One is regarding our-self.

Another is how we behave with others.

Regarding the first point, our attitude of Comparing ourselves starts in childhood.

Parents would like children to be what they have failed to be and force them into doing what they may not prefer.

Parents compare their children with other children and force the children.

Then comes the way of behaving.

They are taught what the others follow and this even in matters of Food and dressing.

There is a fine line between good behaviour and aping others, especially the West.

    Then Education.

We study what guarantees high income, without bothering whether one has the aptitude or attitude for it.

    Lifestyle again.

We acquire , not things we need, but what we think others will be envious about.

    That’s the point.

We allow ourselves to be conditioned by the others.

    Why?

Because we want to be what they are.

Bottom line of this, we are jealous of them.

But this remains hidden in our heart.

Jealousy, trying to become what we are not and our striving t be like them is the cause for our ills.

This is what we should avoid.

Closely connected to this is our desire , avarice.

We fail to distinguish between Wants and Needs.

Blind desire blurs the line between the two.

    Desires are fine.

We should be able to channelized desires, not allow desires to direct our lives, or Desire is impulsive and does not envisage the future problems arising out of satisfying the desires.

If we can avoid Jealousy and Desire, avarice, quality of our Lives would improve.

  • Stress In IT Industry Causes

Though the Stress factor is responsible for suicide and Divorces, to cite some areas, it affects the people in  the IT Industry more.

As mentioned my earlier post it is the not normal working rhythm as a consequence, irregular food habits, lack of physical exercise, varying sleep pattern, setting up of high and unrealistic goals( most of them set for  to suit the Company’s needs, assumption of fake IDs  as in the case of Call Centers and BPOs,less time for persoanl interaction with the family(includes, apart from wife and children, parents and relatives, high Income at a young age, not finding enough time to manage family affairs, Peer pressure, multiple chains of commands and reporting and constant thinking of job all the time(the IT people would deny this) are some of the pressure points.

    Stress and Anxiety.
    Stress Reaction

“If you’re in a position within the IT business, you’ll know that you’re expected to come to grips with huge amounts of information. So it’s normal that, from time to time, you’ll find yourself out of your comfort zone. How do you tell the difference between normal stress and something more serious?

    The signs of stress

While the signs of stress can vary significantly from person to person, cognitive impairment is common. Indecision, forgetfulness, negative thinking, loss of confidence and a lack of concentration are all classic symptons. Physical symptoms can include hair-loss, muscle-tension, sweating and nail-biting. Stressed people make more mistakes, smoke or drink more, are more prone to accidents, and suffer from insomnia, loss of appetite and self-neglect.

So how do you combat stress? First of all, keep active and maintain your interests outside of work – many stressed people give up on exercise or hobbies, but not having an outlet for stress can make things even worse. Try to take a more positive approach to situations: adapting to change and viewing new situations in a more positive light will be crucial to dealing with stressors. And if you do recognise some of the symptoms listed, visit your GP and explain any concerns and symptoms.

As career consultant Sherridan Hughes points out, “No working environment is pressure-free and jobs in IT are no exception. How you adapt to changing circumstances is key to your ability to handle potentially stressful situations in a more positive way.”

If this ‘stressed out’ feeling is about too much work and not enough time, you may want to reconsider how you deal with people from other areas of the business making demands, all assuming that their request should take priority.

Log each request and attend to them in the order they were received, making sure any legal or regulatory pieces of work get done quickly.

Some elements to consider for effective prioritisation in IT:

    1. Who is making the request and how senior are they?

    2. Is it a ‘must-do’ or just a ‘nice to do’? Is it a legal, regulatory or industry standard that needs to be met? Will it hinder your competitiveness as a firm until it is done?

    3. How does it fit in with the company strategy and priorities?

    4. What are the dependencies? Who does it affect if it doesn’t happen immediately?

Of course, it’s vital to ask your line manager’s advice about prioritising requests, but he or she will be more impressed if you come to them with a suggested solution, rather than just a problem.

    Rethinking your life at work

Of course, if you’ve taken all the suggested steps but you’re still aren’t enjoying your work, then perhaps it’s time to consider a job move.

You might prefer a different role within IT or a different type of organisation – perhaps of a different size or in a different industry. Sherridan Hughes adds, “Being mismatched to your role or organisation can result in significant feelings of stress. Within IT there are many different roles: web developer jobs, for example, are more creative, while IT project manager jobs are more people-focused. Consider your areas of strength and where you would like your IT career to develop, and then plan a move accordingly.”

Many people have been sitting tight during the recession and still believe it is ‘all firing and no hiring’ in the market – but you may be pleasantly surprised to find a new IT job that is a better match for your skills and personality – as well as leaving you a lot less stressed out.”
