  • Agastya Canopus Validates Sanatan Dharma Tamil Dates

    Sage Agasthya is mentioned in the Rig Veda : in fact he authored hymns 166-190.

     

    He is also mentioned in Tamil Literature, Sangam as well as later works in Tamil.

    He is credited with the firs grammar book in Tamil,Agathiyam, which was followed by Tholkappiyar later by about 300 years(there is some discussion on this).

     

    The Agastya mentioned in Tamil has been dated somewhere around 3000-5000 BC.

     

    On the other hand, the Agasthya mentioned in the Vedas, Puranas ,Ramayana and Mahabharata is dated earlier.

     

    Agasthya was the one who taught the Adhitya Hrudaya stotra to Lord Rama in the battle field .

     

    Mahabharata recounts the story of Agasthya, Ilvala and Vatapi:Vatapi was swallowed by Agasthya.

     

    Tamil literature says that he was entrusted with the task of spreading Tamil by Lord Shiva who is believed  to have founded Tamil and Shiva was the Chief of the First Tamil Conclave at Then Madurai, which was swallowed by a Tsunami.

     

    This event concurs more with the Times of Ramayana than with the Mahabharata.

     

    Even then this can not account for Agasthya being mentioned in the Rig Veda.

     

    Though earlier studies have indicated that the Rig Veda was composed around 5000 BC, latest researches say that it was composed much earlier, some 25000 years earlier.Please read y post on this.

     

    There are indications that the Rig Veda might have been composed in the Arctic.

    So we have a confusion.

     

    What is the date of Agasthya?

     

    5000 BC or 25000 BC?

     

    There is also a view that there were more than one Agastya.

     

    Comparison of works in Tamil by Agastya nail this lie perpetrated by the West to misinform the world about the antiquity of Sanatana Dharma and Tamil.

     

    There was only one Agastya. who composed the Rig Vedic Hymns and Tamil Classic Agathiyam.

     

    How does one reconcile this anomaly in dates?

     

    By Astronomy.

     

    Legend of Agasthya states that as he was traveling from the North towards the South, he had to cross the Vindhya Mountains, which was growing quite tall to compete with the Himalayas and it was feared that it would affect the Skyline(Heavens).

     

    The Devas represented this to Agasthya who was the Guru, Teacher of Vindhyas.

     

    So when Agasthya crossed the Vindhyas,it prostrated before Agasthya as a mark of respect and Agastya told the mountain to remain in that position to enable him to cross and recross.

     

    Agasthya crossed over to the south and did not return to the North by Land.

     

    And the Vindhyas remained prostrated.

     

    ( Sage Agasthya traveled to the North from the South by the Sea)  .

     

    There is a Star called Agasthya in Hinduism and it is referred as having been sighted by Agastya; in fact it is named as Agasthya.

     

    It is the Star Canopus.

    find the epoch
    of Agastya’s crossing the Vindhyas.
    Here we have a clue that Canopus, the
    second brightest star in the night sky, is
    called Agastya in India. This star is close
    to the ecliptic south pole, having an
    ecliptic latitude of–76°. As the celestial
    poles go round the cliptic poles due to the
    phenomenon of precession of the earth’s
    axis of rotation, this star becomes visible
    from different latitudes on the globe at
    different times. If we assume that for a
    star to be visible at a place its altitude at
    the meridian passage should be at least5°
    , then calculations give the visibility
    curve for Agastya (Canopus), as shown
    in Figure 1 for the various epochs from
    12,000 BC to AD 12,000. We see e
    after, as it was brought more and
    more northwards by precession, it became visible at various places in India, as
    shown in Figure 1. It became visible in the east coast (in the present
    Chennai region) in 8500 BC
    , and in the present day
    Hyderabad in 7200 BC
    , in the Vindhya region in 5200 BC at Delhi in 3100 BC.
    At present it is visible from most
    parts of India for longer or shorter durations. This cycle will repeat after every
    25,725 years.
    If sage Agastya was the first to cross
    the Vindhyas from the north, he would
    have been the first northerner to see the
    star. Hence the star has been named after
    him, just as the Magellanic clouds in the
    southern sky are named after the navigator Magellan,
    who first saw them as he
    sailed southwards.
    This fixes an epoch of 5000 BC
    for sage Agastya. This date is
    based on the assumption that for a star to
    be visible its meridian altitude has to be at least 5°
    . If we make 8°meridian altitude as the criterion for visibility,
    the date of Agastya would be shifted to about
    4000 BC.
    The dates 5000 and 4000 BC
    should therefore bracket the probable epoch
    of Agastya crossing the Vindhyan mountains.’
    Consider these facts.
    1.Some RigVeda Hymns were composed by Agasthya, which has been dated around 27000 earlier.
    2.Agasthya is mentioned in The Ramayana, which quotes the Vedas.
    Ramayana took place in the  Treta Yuga.
    3.Agasthya legend is narrated in the Mahabharata, which took place in the Dwapara Yuga, which is sepaated fro Treta Yuga by thousands of years.
    4.Tamil Classics quote Vedas, Vedas quote Tamil,Tamil is reported to have been founded by Agasthya and he had written the Tamil Classic Agathiyam.
    5.Tamil dates back to over 25000 years according to latest archeological findings.

    6.Star Canopus is visible once in 25, 725 Years.
    Therefore, the Star should have been visible once in 25725 years as Celestial objects follow a regular cycle.
    Canopus is mentioned in the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Tamil Literature
    And Agasthya is one person.
    He should have existed at some point of time every 25725 years, at least once.
    The Time scale of Hindus is four Yugas.

    One Canopus sighting per 25, 000 years .

     

    Each Yuga should have had as many Sightings of Canopus as there are/were 250000 Years.

     

    Conjoin this with Cyclic Theory of Time according to Hinduism which is now being accepted as a reasonable estimate of Time scale.

    We arrive at the conclusions.

     

    1.Agasthya existed in Ramayana, Purana ,Mahabharata and Times.

     

    He also existed at the time quoted by Tamil Classics.

     

    2.This validates that Tamil and Sanatana Dharma were interlinked.

     

    3.That Time is Cyclic and the events occur in Cycles.

     

    4.Tamil Language is as old as Sanskrit.

     

    5..Agasthya existed around 5000 BC and around 25725 years before that.

    I have come across an article which claims to have analyzed the Vedas in-depth, with quotes and translations from eminent persons like Swami Dayananda Sarasvati,concluding  that the Vedas are Obscene.

    Another on the observation that the Vedas contain and promote Incest.

     

    ‘Swami Dayanand Saraswati, in his book Rigvedadi Bhashya Bhumika on the authority of Rigved 1/164/33, uses immoral language to convey the working of the natural phenomenon. You can yourself assess the cheap nature of this allegory, which promotes and glorifies incest”

    Now to the conclusion that the Vedas are obscene.

     

    1.One should study the Vedas in its entirety.

     

    The Vedas are not Books that are compiled to promote a particular group nor are they founded by some one who visits Heaven in a Horse, reads the Laws of God written in a Stone(as if God can not remember His own Laws) and reveals(?) after  some time (possibly for recollection).

     

    The Vedas are grasped from the Ether by various people of various dispositions and were transmitted through word of mouth.

     

    Unlike some Religions, Hinduism, does not believe in numbers nor does it proclaim that  those who do not  subscribe to it are Infidels,Heathen, nor does it consign them to Hell.

    Information as experienced, as distinct from  being learned, were compiled later by Vyasa for People to refer and follow, if they so desire.

     

    2.The Vedas need 36 years of study or at least seven years to understand.

     

    3.The core teaching has to be grasped, that of,

     

    Reality being a Principle,

     

    That It has No name and Form,

     

    That the Deavatas and the Timurthis, Brahma, Vishnu ans Rudra are prone to emotions and they pay for their actions.

     

    Especially the Deavatas like Indra , Varuna, Agni, Vayu and others are only a slightly more evolved Beings than Man:they undergo the trails and tribulations as we Humans go through because of our desires.

     

    3.Some of the passages quoted in the article are allegorical and they do not promote obscenity.

     

    4.To understand the Vedas , one must know that Vedas, at the Highest level do not subscribe to the concept of Sin at all.

     

    It says that the so-called Sins are the result of Human Nature nd warns people to stay away if they want to develop spiritually.

     

    Sanctions are imposed by the Smritis and not by the Sruthi(Vedas)

     

    Later The Ithihasas, Ramayana,  Mahabharata and the Puranas express this idea from real life and expose the perils of such desires.

     

    But this concept needs maturity to understand.

     

    In the hands of the immature this would promote personal degradation and social instability.

     

    5.And one must understand that The Puranas,and the Vedas are facts and they reveal what is the Truth, even if it be unpalatable and by our human standards sinful.

     

    Facts, in the view of Hinduism, are facts, even if the perpetrators are Gods themselves.

     

    It may be Indra when he forcefully enjoyed Ahalya,Lord Rama when He killed Vaali by hiding behind a tree or Lord Krishna’s son who ridiculed Sages.

     

    ”

    Rig Veda 10.110.5 Spacious doors remain wide open like beautiful wives for their husbands. O divine doors, great and all-impellers, be easy of access to the gods.Capture1

     

    Yaska Acharya explains this verse as

    Nirukta 8.10 ”Having spaciousness, make yourself wide open as exceedingly beautiful wives do their thighs for their husbands in sexual intercourse. The thighs are the most beautiful parts (of the body)…”

     

    The next verse is even more obscene,

     

    ‘‘Just as a wife, the recipient of semen, at the time of cohabitation keeps her head opposite to the head of the husband, and her face opposite to that of his, so should both husband and wife perform together their domestic duties. A husband is a protector like a physician. He lives happily like a child, and with tranquillity produces progeny with penis keen with ardour.”- Yajur Veda 19.88, Tr. Devi Chand (Arya Samaj), p.215.

     

    What is obscene  in describing the actual sex position?

     

    Hinduism does nor  abhor sex for it knows it is Natural

     

    As to the first portion of this quote, it is a simile .

     

    “We read in newspaper about some Hindu scholars condemning homosexuality. But do they have any evidence that prohibits homosexuality in Hinduism? Hindu scholars fail to furnish any reference which condemns homosexuality but still some try to term homosexuality as irreligious act.     Animal Sex.

    Some protestant Hindus proudly promote Vedas as philosophical, free from all vulgarities. But in reality there is no limit for Vulgarity in Vedas. It even promotes sex with animals let alone adultery and pornography. Sex with animals in Hinduism is not a vulgar thing, Ancient Hindu temples like Khajuraho, Ajanta, Ellora clearly depicts men and girls having sex with animals.

     

    ”As a buffalo (Indra) desired the lusty female born from himself; the mena of the horse he made into the mother of the cow”- Rig Veda 1.121.2, Tr. Geldner.

     

    Maharshi Yaska mentions a strange story about the birth of Asvins (the twin horsemen). The story says Saranyu was unwilling to have sex with Vivasvat and ran away but Vivasvat chased her and raped her. Yaska writes,

     

    ”Saranyu daughter of Tvastr bore twins, Yama and Yami, to Vivasvat the sun. She having substituted another lady of similar appearance, and having assumed the shape of a mare, ran away. He, Vivasvat, the sun, having also assumed the shape of a horse, pursued her, and joined her. Thence the Asvins were born. Manu was born from the lady of similar appearance.” Nirukta 12.10

     

    In all these cases the perversions of Human Nature are exposed.

     

    They are not promoted.

     

    In these cases the individual has sex with the animals after assuming the form of the animal, there is no Human animal sex here.

     

    The articles other points merit)?) the same rebuttal.

     

    I forgot to add that some of the meanings are by western scholars(?) to malign Hinduism and promote Christianity.

  • Saptha Rishis Qualification Details

    Saptha Rishis, Hinduism, Ursa Major Constellation

    Saptha Rishis, the Seven Sages are revered most in Hinduism and they are given the pride of Place.

     

    They are represented in the sky as the Saptha Mandala.(Ursa Major)

     

    What are the qualifications of these Saptha Rishis?

     

    1.Performing the basic six duties of a Brahmin.

     

    Learning the Vedas,

     

    Teaching the Vedas to the qualified, by way of disposition and discipline, to others.

     

    Perform Yagna,

     

    Perform Yagnas for the others.

     

    Perform Dhana (Donate),

     

    Accept Dhana.

     

    In addition they should have the following qualities.

     

    Run a Gurukula, where the children are taught, at Home and take care of the disciples as their own children.

     

    Enter the family Life only for begetting a progeny.

     

    Regulate the senses.

     

    Contented.

     

    Treat all the Varnas, loosely translated now as Caste, equally.

     

    Though Brahma Gnanis, remain in the worldly affairs without being affected by it.

     

    The Saptha Rishis change for every Yuga.

     

    Saptha Rishis of  the present Manvantara are,

     

    Atri, Bhrigu, Kuthsa, Vasishta, Gautama, Kasyapa and Angirasa.

     

    Goddess Mahlakshmi was born to Atri  ,Bhrigu.

     

    Vasishta was the Guru of Rama and a Brahma Rishi.

     

    Kasyapa was the Father of all the Devas and asuras,including the Adithyas, including Vishnu as an Aditya.

     

    Angirasa compiled Atharva Veda.

     

    Kuthsa gave 82 Rig Vedic Sukthas 62 Rudra Mantras and Prokshana Mantra.

     

    Gautama is called ‘Dhrusta,, discoverer of Vedic Mantras, he was the husband of Ahalya and Rajaa Guru of Janaka.

     

    Second Manvantara — the interval of Swarochisha Manu

    Urja, Stambha, Prańa, nanda , Rishabha, Nischara, and Arvarívat.

    Third Manvantara — the interval of Auttami Manu

    Sons of Vashista: Kaukundihi, Kurundi, Dalaya, Śankha, Praváhita, Mita, and Sammita.

    Fourth Manvantara — the interval of Támasa Manu

    Jyotirdhama, Prithu, Kavya, Chaitra, Agni, Vanaka, and Pivara.

    Fifth Manvantara — the interval of Raivata Manu

    Hirannyaroma, Vedasrí, Urddhabahu, Vedabahu, Sudhaman, Parjanya, and Mahámuni.

    Asvini Devas are Divine healers and Gods of Ayurvedic Medicine.

     

    Nakula ans Saha Deva of Mahabharata were born of Pandu’s wife Matri and Asvini Devas.

     

    “They are also called Nasatya (dual nāsatyau “kind, helpful”) in the Rigveda; later, Nasatya is the name of one twin, while the other is called Dasra (“enlightened giving”). By popular etymology, the name nāsatya is often incorrectly analysed as na+asatya “not untrue”=”true”.

    The Ashvins can be compared with the Dioscuri (the twins Castor and Pollux) of Greek and Roman mythology, and especially to the divine twins Ašvieniai of the ancient Baltic religion”..

     

    The Ashvins are mentioned 376 times in the Rigveda, with 57 hymns specifically dedicated to them: 1.3, 1.22, 1.34, 1.46-47, 1.112, 1.116-120 (c.f.     They have Horse ‘s face and are reported to be very handsome.

     

    They heal and prevent misfortune.

     

    Asvini Kumaras, under instructions from Marthanda, a name for Surya, worshiped Narayana.

     

    Lord Narayana gave Darsahn to them.

     

    This mantra will ward off misfortune and prevent diseases.

     

    It is also said to cure serious ailments.

    ‘Sage Mahatapa explained to Prajapal how Aswini Kumars were born. Marichi was Brahma’s son and Kashyap was the son of Marichi. Kashyap and Aditi begot Twelve ‘Adityas’ (Suns). [According to Vishnupurana the Adityas were Amsa, Aryaman, Bhaga, Dhuti, Mitra, Pusan, Sakra, Savitur, Twastha, Varuna, Vishnu/Vamana, Vaivaswat; Martand too was known as one of these, but Aditi appeared to have disowned him?] Martand wedded Viswakarma’s daughter Sangya and begot two children-Yama and Yami. Sangya was unable to bear the extreme heat of Martand, thus created her shadow counterpart with instructions to serve her husband in all ways and left for a place known as Uttarkuru. Eventually Martand came to know the truth, discovered her in the form of a mare, married her and gave birth to two Aswini Kumars! Martand instructed the sons to dedicate themselves in the worship of Narayana and after severe ‘Tapasya’by incessantly uttering ‘Narayana Mantra’ which was taught by Martand, Prajapati Narayan was finally pleased to appear Himself before them. When King Prajapal desired to learn the Mantra from the Sage Mahatapa, the latter obliged and recited it.
