  • All Religions Are Not The Same

The common refrain of Hindus, especially the species who call themselves as Secular, that all religions are the same.

    All religions are equal.

All religions teach the same thing.

    Hinduism Christinity Symbols.jpg
    Hinduism Christianity

I am one of the few who maintain in private conversations and in Public including my blogs that it is sheer non sense and it is nothing but hypocrisy or inadequate knowledge of the Religions being talked about.

I have been meaning to write on this for quite sometime, but the spark that made me write now is a piece written by Maria Wirth, which was forwarded to me by  Hindu Association,USA.

I am reproducing excerpts towards the close of this post.

When people talk of all religions being the same, they mean only two,Christianity and Islam.

How are these the same as Hinduism?

Christianity was framed , not formed by Constantine some three hundred years after the death of Christ.

As a matter of record nobody knows the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus meaning son of God,

“A typical Jew in Jesus’ time had only one name, sometimes supplemented with the father’s name or the individual’s hometown.[27] Thus, in the New Testament, Jesus is referred to as “Jesus of Nazareth”[g] (Matthew 26:71), “Joseph’s son” (Luke 4:22)

“The etymology of Jesus’ name in the context of the New Testament is generally given as “Yahweh is salvation’

The word Christ is derived from the Greek Χριστός (Christos), which is a translation of the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (Masiah), meaning the “anointed” and usually transliterated into English as “Messiah

    Christ meaning,

Christ (/krst/; ancient Greek: Χριστός, Christós, meaning “anointed”) is a translation of the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (Māšîaḥ) and the Syriac ܡܫܝܚܐ (M’shiha), the Messiah, and is used as a title for Jesus in the New Testament”.(wiki)

We have Rama, Krishna, Ravana. Mahabali,Sages Agastya…… al can be dated,

How does one date Christ by astronomy when one can not even know his name?

Hinduism was not founded or framed by any one.

Its date is unknown, but to get an idea it is commonly agreed, to have some date, that the Vedas were composed around 5000BC.

In fact Sanatana  Dharma is about Million years old.

Thiruvannamalai India  is 3 Billion years old,

    Tirupati, 2100 Million Years,

    Jwalapuram, Kurnool  74000 years old.

Rama’s name is found among Sumerian Kings List, when Christ was not even thought of.

Hindusim does not have a Preacher.

Nor does it allot funds to propagate Hinduism.

Christianity talks about Father, Son and the Holy Ghost.

Will some one tell me how many worship the Father?

Hinduism has Attributeless Reality,Brahman and has Reality with names and Forms to fecilitate  concentration.

Christianity calls people who believe in things, faiths other than Christianity as heathen and it consign these people to Hell.

Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita in the 18th Chapter to Arjuna that though He (Krishna) has taught Arjuna about what Reality is in the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna is to think for himself and choose a path that suits him!

Christianity decries Idol worship, but the irony is it worships +!

Hinduism worships many Gods and Goddesses(there are as many Gods and Goddesses as Human dispositions are)

For explanation on these please read my posts filed under Hinduism/Indian Philosophy.

Hinduism does not believe in individual irresponsibility.

One is responsible for his actions.

There is none to bear your Cross(pun intended)

Hinduism does not believe in Religious conversion, while Christianity breathes it.

Christianity believes in salvation  through Christ.

Hinduism speaks more of your effort.

God does not condone your sins, even if the doer is the personification of God Himself.

Hinduism does not ascribe an entity,Satan solely responsible for everything that is presumed to be evil.

In Hinduism everything is God, including what we humans decide and often change what Good is.

Non violence and forbearance is the hall-mark of Hinduism.

    Christianity shuns dissensions.

Hinduism does not impose itself on others, the credo of Christianity is to force it down the throat.

Christian Ethics is being spoken as if it is some thing that is not found in Hinduism.

One tenet of Christianity that you should proselytize against one’s Will is enough to wipe off its Ethics.

People say in Christianity all are equal.

Then why separate Churches for the Dalits?

AndAwhy over six thousand denominated nominated of sects?

I am not touching the philosophical aspects as it would need at least five or six posts.

I have briefly stated the most salient points here.

In what way then, is Christianity and Hinduism are the same?

Post on Hinduism and Islam follows

Observations by someone who grew up in the stifling atmosphere of dogmatic Christianity and appreciates the freshness and freedom of undogmatic Hinduism– and wonders why a section of Hindus are so apologetic about their religion when it actually is the best bet for a fulfilling life.

Hindus used to say, “All religions are equal”. They did not want to see that the two biggies, Christianity and Islam, did not agree. Each of those religions claimed for itself, “We alone are the only true religion. Our God is the only true God.” They pitied Hindus that they might actually believe that by stating that all religions are equal, Hinduism would be elevated to their level. Of course, the ‘true religions’ will never allow this.

Now Hindus say, “We respect all religions. We teach it to our children. Our children hear a lot about Christianity and Islam and how good these religions are. We don’t want to offend anyone, so we teach very little about Hinduism and what we teach is only about superficial things, like festivals and customs and not about the deep philosophy and scientific insights which would portray Hinduism in a good light and might irritate other religions.”

Again, Hindus don’t want to see that Christianity and Islam do not respect Hinduism. The clergy of those religions don’t say it into their face, but to their own flock: “Hindus go to hell, if they don’t convert to the true religion. It is their own fault. We have told them about Jesus and his Father or the Prophet and Allah respectively. Still, they are so arrogant and foolish and hold on to their false gods. But God/Allah is great. He will punish them with eternal hellfire.”

In a variation of “We respect all religions” Hindus also say, “All religions teach the human being to be virtuous and good and lead him to God, the creator. Hindus attend Inter Faith Dialogues and try to find the commonalities. Of course these are there. Hindus try to build on them. “Yes, all religions have good points. Yes, all religions have good people.” They keep repeating that all religions teach goodness, as if to convince themselves. However, deep down, Hindus know that this is not honest and lacks intellectual integrity. They know that Christianity and Islam have gone off track by preaching exclusiveness and hate to their flock. Those religions have encouraged persecution of others and brainwashed otherwise kind human beings into fighting for an imaginary god who supposedly hates all those ‘others’ who don’t believe, what they are told to believe. They have left a trail of bloodshed in history. But Hindus choose to ignore it. ‘Why provoke unnecessarily?’ they might feel, still betraying a psyche wounded by thousand years of oppression.

Is it not time that Hindus call a spade a spade? Swami Vivekananda has said that every Hindu who leaves his faith is not one Hindu less but one enemy more. He said this while India was ruled by the British, and Christians and Muslims were encouraged to feel superior to the “idol worshipping Hindu”. Hindus were not in a position to put the record straight, as their own elite put Hinduism down due to a malicious British education policy. Yet today, 66 years after independence, it is about time to tell the world loudly and boldly what Hinduism is about.

  • St. Peter’s Square Vatican Aerial View, Shiva Linga

I posted an article on ‘Vatican Shiva temple?, where I had provided information on the possibly of Vatican being a Shiva temple.

Here is some more interesting information on Saint Peter‘s Courtyard in Vatican city’s aerial view, It is that of Shiva Linga!

Vatican City resembles Shiva Lingam, aerial view.jpg

    Vatican City Map.png
    Vatican City Map.

“Vatican- What’s In A Name The word Vatican has been derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Vatika‘ which means Vedic cultural centres. Such words and a few excavations prove that Vatican was actually a Hindu (Vedic) religious centre before Christianity took roots. A Shiva Linga In Vatican! A Shiva linga was discovered inside the Vatican city during the archaeological excavations. This Shiva linga is exhibited in the Gregorian Etruscan museum of the Vatican city. P.N. Oak‘s Theories Famous historian P.N. Oak has claimed that Christianity and Islam are both derivatives of Hinduism. He also says that the Catholic Vatican, Kaaba and even the Taj Mahal were once Hindu temples dedicated to Shiva. Oak also claims that Christianity was originally a Vedic religion following Krishna and it was originally called Krishna-Neeti or ethics of Krishna. Further he says that even the word ‘Amen’ is derived from ‘Aum’ or ‘Om’ which is the universal cosmic sound.

  • “Uproot Rig Veda” Max Mueller The Fraud’s Quotes

The real Max Mueller reveals himself here.

In the later portion of this post, note how cleverly he mixes up his real iMintentions by praising the Vedas, to lend credibility to his thesis(?)

““It (The Rigveda) is the root of their religion and to show them what the root is, I feel sure, is the only way of uprooting all that has sprung from it during the last three thousand years.”-Max Mueller to His wife,in his lett

Later he also wrote to the Duke of Argyle, the then acting Secretary of State for India:

“The ancient religion of India is doomed. And if Christianity does not take its place, whose fault will it be?”

The Biblical Creation Theory states that the world was created with all its life forms at 9.00 AM, October 23, 4004 BC.

If one goes by the real date of the Rig Veda, arrived at and the establishment of the dates of the Ramayana and Mahabharata being quite ancient , which has been proved and that these dates are real and validated by Astronomical data, it would not suit Christianity.

Max Muller it is said was an agent of the British colonial rulerswho was funded by them to write, rewrite and distort the history of Asia so as to establish Christian history as superior to that of the Asians and create an inferiority complex among the Indians by proving to them that their history, traditions, culture, philosophy, religion etc. had no value before the history and culture of Europe.
He originally estimated that the Rig Veda was written around 1200 B.C as a later date could have been in conflict with the Christian beliefs. He also formulated the Aryan Invasion Theory to show that the Vedas and the superior Aryan race came to India from Europe.

Max Muller and other missionaries like Ralph T.H. Griffith, Maurice Bloomsfield, Wilson etc. also tried to learn sanskrit to comprehend the primary Hindu scriptures but landed up distorting them by the application of the Abrahamic template on the Hindu worldview

Moreover due to this distortion and mistranslation of Vedic scriptures rendered by manyindologists in the past, many people including the Hindus today assume that Hinduism consists of blind superstitions, beef eating, horse killing, animal sacrifice, caste system, etc

Mr.Boulanger, the editor of Russian edition of The Sacred Books of the East Series, in the context of the commentary/translation of the Vedas by Max Muller, stated:
“What struck me in Max Muller’s translation was a lot of absurdities, obscene passages and a lot of what is not lucid…. As far as I can grab the teaching of the Vedas, it is so sublime that I would look upon it as a crime on my part, if the Russian public becomes acquainted with it through the medium of a confused and distorted translation, thus not deriving for its soul that benefit which this teaching should give to the people”.

The ancient Hindu scriptures- Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, etc. have been preserved in the language of ‘sanskrit’ which today is recognized as the most advanced and scientific language so much so that even scientists are trying to incorporate it into computers to increase the scope of artificial intelligence and give a boost to the field of robotics.

Sanskrit is indeed a highly modular language where words change when they are combined.

Importance is hence given to the way the words are pronounced and the way in which it is written.

Any little mistake in the ‘halant or visarga’ alone can change the meaning of the sentence.

The teachings of the Vedas, Upanishads and Gita has thus been preserved and considered universally applicable because of the scientific integrity and consistency of the sanskrit language.

Unlike other literature or the abrahamic religious texts which are updated as the seasons change, the primary Hindu scriptures remain intact delivering the same eternal knowledge which is always nourishing to a scientific and a philosophical mind.

    • History seems to teach that the whole human race required a gradual education before, in the fullness of time, it could be admitted to the truths of Christianity. All the fallacies of human reason had to be exhausted, before the light of a high truth could meet with ready acceptance. The ancient religions of the world were but the milk of nature, which was in due time to be succeeded by the bread of life…. The religion of Buddha has spread far beyond the limits of the Aryan world, and to our limited vision, it may seem to have retarded the advent of Christianity among a large portion of the human race. But in the sight of Him with whom a thousand years are but as one day, that religion, like the ancient religions of the world, may have but served to prepare the way of Christ, by helping through its very errors to strengthen and to deepen the ineradicable yearning of the human heart after the truth of God.
      • History of Ancient Sanksrit Literature (1860)

When a religion has ceased to produce defenders of the faith, prophets, champions, martyrs, it has ceased to live, in the true sense of the word…

    • The worship of ShivaVishnu, and other popular deities was of the same and in many cases of a more degraded and savage character than the worship of JupiterApollo or Minerva. … A religion may linger on for a long time, it may be accepted by large masses of the people, because it is there, and there is nothing better. But when a religion has ceased to produce defenders of the faith, prophets, champions, martyrs, it has ceased to live, in the true sense of the word; and in that sense the old orthodox Brahmanism has ceased to live for more than a thousand years.
      • Lecture at Westminster Abbey (1873); as quoted in Hinduism : A Religion to Live By (1997) by Nirad C. Chaudhari ISBN 0195640136

If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered over the greatest problems of life… I should point to India.

    • If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered over the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions of some of them which well deserve the attention even of those who have studied Plato and Kant, I should point to India. And if I were to ask myself from what literature we who have been nurtured almost exclusively on the thoughts of Greeks and Romans, and of the Semitic race, the Jewish, may draw the corrective which is most wanted in order to make our inner life more perfect, more comprehensive, more universal, in fact more truly human a life… again I should point to India.
      • India, What Can It Teach Us (1882) Lecture IV
    • They contain, by the side of simple, natural, childish thoughts, many ideas which to us sound decidedly modern, or secondary and tertiary.
      • On the Vedas, in India, What can it teach us (1882) Lecture IV
    • I have declared again and again that if I say Aryans, I mean neither blood nor bones, nor hair nor skull; I mean simply those who speak an Aryan language… in that sense, and in that sense only, do I say that even the blackest Hindus represent an earlier stage of Aryan speech and thought than the fairest Scandinavians… To me an ethnologist who speaks of Aryan race, Aryan blood, Aryan eyes and hair, is as great a sinner as a linguist who speaks of a dolichocephalic dictionary or a brachycephalic grammar.

  • Atheist Ceremonies

I could not resit laughing on seeing the title.

    Atheism Quote.Image.jpg.
    Atheism Quote.

Curious and intrigued, I checked the site.

I am providing excerpts without comments.

I shall be replying each point by point in separate posts.

My intention is to propagate this Great wisdom and original thought,  apologies to Carvakas.

    Naming Ceremony:

Birth of a child, irrespective of gender, is a happy occasion for atheists and they share joy with others. They name their children as per the events in history, current and International affairs, social and political changes or reflecting the beauty of nature.

In order to break the barriers of caste and religion, atheists name their children in a secular manner, connoting a meaning relevant to the time or an event which has no religious connotation.

Taking the case of children in Atheist CentreSamaram (II World War), Niyanta (dictator), Lavanam (Salt, was born on the eve of Gandhi’s Salt Satyagraha), Vijayam (Victory. First success of Congress in General Elections), Vidya(Education) and the younger generation with unique names such as Sanketh(Information), Vidwat (Knowledge), Saujas (Redoubled Vigour and Youthfulness),Saaras & Tejas (Indigenous manned aero planes developed by India), Olos (Olympics Los Angeles) to mention a few. Many atheists are making the next generation secular and post religious. Atheists also stress on the need for birth registration, which is neglected in India.

In Pre-Independent India, braving stiff resistance of priests and the vested interests, some atheist and rationalist social reformers championed priestless and tradition-less marriages by exchange of garlands by spouses in a public meeting. Mahatma Phule, Ranade and other social reformers in the 19th Century encouraged widow remarriages.

In the early 20th Century, Periyar EV Ramaswamy promoted hundreds of “Self Respect” (sweeya maryada) marriages by exchange of garlands in atheist meetings.

Even though they had no legal validity, they had social approval.

In Post-Independent India, hundreds of such marriages were legally validated by Tamilnadu Government.

In other states also, the atheists and rationalists challenged the monopoly of the priestly class in social relations.

In Andhra, Tripuraneni Ramaswami developed marriage ceremonies devoid of priests and religion.

During the freedom movement, rationalists, atheists, socialists, communists and the liberal-minded popularized secular marriages by exchange of garlands in public meetings.

In the traditional Hindu marriage, Saptapadi (walking seven steps together) and tying of thali (so-called Holy-thread of gold) by husband to his wife is a must.

But in atheist marriages these customs are openly defied, for the religious rites make women inferior. Recognizing the importance of liberation to women, many did not wear ornaments or a bindu on the forehead, breaking the taboos of the Hindu religious system.

Gora and Saraswathi Gora, founders of Atheist Centre, spearheaded castelesss and religionless marriages as a movement to break the stranglehold of untouchability, caste, religion and of priestly class. They tried to bridge the gap between precept and practice by marring their own children first and set an example to others.

Atheist marriages are celebrated in complete openness.

In the case of intercaste or inter religion or casteless marriages, the spouses inform their parents about their intention

. On some occasions, the marriages take place in the teeth of opposition.

But the experience shows that parents and relations tend to reconcile soon and social ostracism for the couple tend to be less.

    Death Ceremony:
In the case of atheist ceremonies, both men and women preside the gatherings, breaking the religious and gender barriers, thereby celebrating the life contribution of the individual. Some atheists, in the memory of their lost ones, donate money for scholarships to the marginalized communities or the merited students.

In the religious customs, when the husband is dead, his wife is subjected to inhuman traditional practices by breaking her bangles, removal of thali, forcing her to wear a white sari and she is made a non-entity in the family.

Her social position is degraded and for some time she is not invited to weddings in the family. This kind of treatment given to widows is regarded by atheists as mental cruelty and is openly opposed.

Atheists invite widows to attend marriages, conduct widow re-marriages and demonstrate that widows are in no way inferior to men or other women,

Thus atheist marriages open up avenues to show to others the need for social reform and gender equity. They emphasize on all round equality for women and their female children. With winds of social change, some of the cruel religious customs wane slowly in some sections of society.

    Social Celebrations:

Atheists recognize the contribution of inventors, discoverers, social reformers, and national leaders who have made significant contribution to the progress of the society and in enhancing scientific temper and secular outlook. Social functions are celebrated to commemorate the inventions and discoveries as well as social reform, so as to make the younger generations aware of their significance and advocating for investing in promoting critical thinking and free inquiry. …

Religious ceremonies tend to prepare people look for salvation and to so-called life after death, where as atheist and humanist ceremonies try to improve the quality of life here on earth which is real and practical. Let us strive make the world a better place to live in peace, joy and harmony. Pleasure lies in pursuit.

  • Christianity Has Over 5000 Denominations Sects

Christianity makes fun of Hinduism stating that Hinduism has innumerable Gods ans Sects.

Below is a list of Denominations of Christianity.

    Christianity origins and sects.Image.jpg.
Christianity origins and sects.Click on thee image to enlarge and read more.

Click the Bold Alphabets to see the listed items under that.

    This totals over 5000!

It may be noted that this represents only the protestant Side!

Christian denomination is an identifiable religious body under a common name, structure, and doctrine within Christianity.

Some groups included do not consider themselves adenomination (e.g., the Catholic Church considers itself the one true church and the Apostolic See, and as pre-denominational).

Some groups viewed by non-adherents as denominational actively resist being called a denomination and do not have any formal denominational structure, authority, or record-keeping beyond the local congregation; several groups within Restoration Movement fall into this category.

Some groups are large (e.g. CatholicsOrthodoxLutheransAnglicans or Baptists), while others are just a few small churches, and in most cases the relative size is not evident in this list.

Modern movements such as Fundamentalist ChristianityPietismEvangelicalismPentecostalism and the Holiness movement sometimes cross denominational lines, or in some cases create new denominations out of two or more continuing groups, (as is the case for many United and uniting churches, for example). Such subtleties and complexities are not clearly depicted here.

Between denominations, theologians, and comparative religionists there are considerable disagreements about which groups can be properly called Christian, disagreements arising primarily from doctrinal differences between groups.

For the purpose of simplicity, this list is intended to reflect the self-understanding of each denomination.

Explanations of different opinions concerning their status as Christian denominations can be found at their respective articles.

There is no official recognition in most parts of the world for religious bodies, and there is no official clearinghouse which could determine the status or respectability of religious bodies. Often there is considerable disagreement between various churches about whether other churches should be labeled with pejorative terms such as “cult”, or about whether this or that group enjoys some measure of respectability.

Such considerations often vary from place to place, where one religious group may enjoy majority status in one region, but be widely regarded as a “dangerous cult” in another part of the world. Inclusion on this list does not indicate any judgment about the size, importance, or character of a group or its members.
