    Bowing down to International Pressure the Sri Lankan Government is set to start counting the casualties of its Civil War.

    One does not know whether it will include the those killed in Mullivaikkal And elsewhere as a part of Tamil ‘Final Solution’

    Even then the count is likely to be misleading.

    I make this observation based on the Media frenzy in Sri Lanka where every death in the Civil War is being attributed to LTTE

    LTTE has to share the blame for its terrorist activities and its indiscriminate killing of civilians, Tamil Leaders.

    Lanka web has been spewing venom on Tamils and on the international community and I am producing excerpts below.

    On The Human Rights Issue in Sri Lanka.

    But why and who is responsible for  this wild accusation by the West ?

    There had not been any violation of human rights  for which Sri Lanka could correctly  be singled out as the only country in the world committing violations against the rights of its people.

    If we examine the number of innocent people who have been killed and continued to be killed by other  wealthy Nations in the world, not in their own countries but in other developing countries outside their own, using their NATO or American Armed Forces chasing after terrorists, what human right violations Sri Lanka  is accused of having committed cannot be regarded as such.

    These accusations against Sri Lanka are being made without taking into consideration that Sri Lanka suffered from terrorism  for  nearly thirty years  and carried out military operations against the terrorists without going outside its own territorial boundaries, as the West is doing.  Sri Lanka cannot therefore be accused for violation of human rights as it carried out its military operations strictly within the country avoiding  damage as far as possible  to its own  civilian population.

    A war against terrorism is different from a declared war against a country. In Sri Lanka it was just  a group of  Tamil youth within the country who had taken up arms against the Government. They were  taken  by the Indian Secret Service and trained as terrorists and released into the country to accomplish their aim of dividing the country to form a separate State for the Tamil Community.  Those Tamil terrorists who eventually  turned out to be a considerable force had to be eliminated  as they were causing considerable suffering to the people of the whole country for nearly three decades.

    The civilians no doubt may have got killed in the course of  military operations  to eliminate that destructive  terrorism despite the care taken by the Government Air Forces for precise bombing, and others may have got killed being caught in the cross fire between the terrorists and armed forces.

    But vast destruction to the country and lot of murders of civilians in large scale massacres in unimaginable ways and means employing claymore bombs, in buses , trains, market places, and using kidnapped Tamil women trained as suicide bombers exploding themselves to eliminate selected human targets,  had been carried out by the terrorists through out the 30 years of their ruthless, atrocious existence.

    In that situation of utter horror the country faced for thirty years the civilian deaths in the course of the elimination of terrorists by the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka cannot by any imagination be called violation of human rights, and least of all war crimes…

    Britain is guilty of war Crimes.

    I was amazed at the number of examples given by the contributors to this publication about the instances of Britain’s human rights abuses. If you wish to read about all of Britain’s abuses of human rights since 1944 then please refer to or purchase the following book: –

    Mark Curtis is a former Research Fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House). He has written extensively on Britain’s and USA’s foreign policies. Two of his more famous books are:

    1. The Ambiguities of Power, British Foreign Policy since 1945, and
    2. Web of Deceit: Britain’s Real Role in the World.

    Curtis’s seminal publication, Unpeople, Britain’s Secret Human Rights Abuses contains 323 easy-to-read pages with 39 pages of references and notes. I purchased this book in 2011.

    At the very end of ‘Unpeople’, Curtis provides a table of figures giving the number of deaths since 1944 for which Britain has significant responsibility. He has divided the table in to 4 categories: –

    1. Direct responsibility.
    2. Indirect responsibility.
    3. Active inaction.
    4. Others.

    Curtis concludes that Britain has significant direct responsibility for between 4 and 6 million deaths.

    One dimension we tend to have forgotten is Britain’s role in the slave trade! The Portuguese and Spanish had the lead in this lucrative trade but British businessmen became involved in the trade in the 16th century, and the Treaty of Utrecht (1713) gave them the right to sell slaves in the Spanish Empire.

    In the 18th century, perhaps 6 million Africans were taken in atrocious conditions to the Americas as slaves, at least a third of them in British ships based mainly in Liverpool. The trade in human beings was termed “The triangular trade”. Slavery was a legal institution in all of the 13 American colonies and Canada (acquired by Britain in 1763). The profits of the slave trade and of Caribbean plantations amounted to 5% of the British economy at the time of the Industrial revolution.

    The first part of “The triangular trade” was to take items such as guns and brandy to Africa to exchange for slaves. The second side of the triangle was to take the slaves on the ‘Middle Passage’ across the Atlantic to sell in the West Indies and North America. To complete the triangle the traders took a cargo of rum, cotton, gold and sugar back to sell in England.

    Mr. Cameron, wake up! As our President Mahinda Rajapakse rightly said “People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”.

    Sri Lanka began counting the dead from its 26-year civil war on Thursday, less than two weeks after the island nation came under intense international pressure to investigate allegations of war crimes during the climax of the conflict.

    Some 16,000 officials will spread out across the country in a major operation that the government said would take six months to complete.

    More than 100,000 people are believed to have died during the 1983-2009 war between Tamil Tiger separatists concentrated in the north and government forces.

    In the most contentious, bloody phase, some 300,000 civilians, mostly ethnic minority Tamils, were trapped on a narrow beach during the army’s final onslaught on rebels, and a U.N. panel estimates 40,000 non-combatants died in a few days.

    Both sides committed atrocities, but army shelling killed most victims, the panel concluded.

    D.C.A. Gunawardena, director general of the Department of Census and Statistics, said the country-wide survey would assess the death toll and damage to property since 1982.

    But he conceded that the census could not give a full picture of the scale of losses.

    “There is a limitation,” Gunawardena told Reuters. “If somebody’s whole family died or fled the country, then nobody will be there to give their details.”

  • Channel 4 To Air Muslim Namaz Call Ramadan Why Object

    Channel 4 is planning to air the Muslim Prayer call Namaz on 9 July, 2013, the beginning of the month of Ramadan.

    Muslims seem to object it on the ground that it is “divisive”(?)

    ‘Why do I dislike the idea so much? Because I think it is deeply divisive. Because far from making Muslims feel part of the community, it is actually using a sacred custom as a cheap device for cocking a snook at the rest of us…..

    Next Tuesday, July 9, is the first day of Ramadan. It is the month of the year when Muslims fast. From sunrise to sundown they are not allowed to swallow food.

    It is similar to the Christian season of Lent, in which the faithful are supposed to focus their thoughts more sharply on God and the things of the spirit by an ethos of discipline.

    There is nothing wrong with that! And for the 2.8 million Muslims living in Britain, it is a serious time. Very many of them will be observing the fast.

    For the 60 million (or so) who are not Muslim, of course, the season would have passed largely unnoticed were it not for the fact that Channel 4 — gesturing wildly to remind the rest of us how controversial it is — has decided that it will broadcast the first call to prayer of the day.

    If it were being serious, it would broadcast all five calls to prayer, interrupting daytime transmissions of soap operas, cricket matches and news bulletins where necessary.

    Also, as a gesture to Islam, it would refuse to carry advertisements for alcohol during the holy season.
    If Channel 4 were to air the Call Five times a Day, is it alright?

    They say this service is not asked of Channel 4.

    They would not mind if they do it with out Alcohol advertisements in the Channel.

    Just what are they trying to convey?

    The new Pope Francis, an Argentinian, has declared ‘“Las Malvinas are ours.

    He urged people “not to forget those who had fallen during the war” as they had “shed their blood on Argentine soil”

    Pope Francis has been a vocal and passionate supporter of his country’s claim on the Falkland Islands, known as Las Malvinas to Argentinians.

    In April last year, at a memorial mass in Buenos Aires 30 years on from the Falklands conflict, he said: “We come to pray for all who have fallen, sons of the homeland who went out to defend their mother, the homeland, and to reclaim what is theirs, that is of the homeland, and it was usurped.”

    And a year earlier, he urged people “not to forget those who had fallen during the war” as they had “shed their blood on Argentine soil”

     

    Not that his relation with the present Argentinian  is cozy..far from it.

     

    He is against Gay marriage.

    When the Cardinal urged parishioners to join a campaign he called “God’s war” against gay marriage, Ms.Kirchner , Argentinian President,,compared his tone to the Middle Ages and the Inquisition.

    Previously, in a snipe at Cardinal Bergoglio, Mr Kirchner reportedly said: “Our God is everyone’s, but careful because the Devil also reaches everyone – those who wear trousers and those who wear cassocks.”

    Despite their differences, the Cardinal called for the Argentine people to pray for Mr Kirchner when he died in October 2010.

    Now this statement on Falklands, where a referendum has taken place about 4 days ago on its status.

    Britain, though outwardly cool awaits the result of the Referendum.

    Hope it has not manipulated the Referendum process.

    Britain formed a new sect of Christianity because the Catholic pope did not allow a king to marry when his wife was alive.

    Let’s see if the Pope creates a new Britain. outside Britain.

    Anyway, we can find Britain squirming in the coming years.

    People living in the Falkland Islands are voting in a referendum on their political status on Sunday and Monday at a time of heightened tensions between Argentina and Britain over their sovereignty.

    The two countries went to war over the territory, known to the Argentinians as Las Malvinas, in 1982 after the then-military government in Argentina landed troops on the islands.

    According to the Falklands legislative assembly, the vote is intended to affirm islanders’ desire to remain a self-governing territory of the United Kingdom and to reject claims of ownership by Argentina.

    The question put to voters is: “Do you wish the Falkland Islands to retain their current political status as an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom?”

    Argentina laid claims to Falklands which Britain took from it ,claiming British Sovereignty over the Islands.

    Argentinian President wrote to the British Prime Minister asking Britain to return it.

    Britain refused.

    Meanwhile the SUN, British daily published an advertisement in Argentina, a rebuttal.

    Britain conveniently forgets that it trampled countries all over the world by colonizing it.

    A hotchpotch of different national identification, United Kingdom exists only in name.

    If you any doubt. ask a Welsh,Irish or a Scotsman.

    If the countries Britain colonized were to ask for reparation damages for pilfering other nations, what will it do?

    Britain, under the garb of protected territories still continues its colonialism elsewhere in the world.

    Mr Prime Minister David Cameron,

    One hundred and eighty years ago on the same date, January 3rd, in a blatant exercise of 19th-century colonialism, Argentina was forcibly stripped of the Malvinas Islands, which are situated 14,000km (8700 miles) away from London.

    The Argentines on the Islands were expelled by the Royal Navy and the United Kingdom subsequently began a population implantation process similar to that applied to other territories under colonial rule.

    Since then, Britain, the colonial power, has refused to return the territories to the Argentine Republic, thus preventing it from restoring its territorial integrity.

    The Question of the Malvinas Islands is also a cause embraced by Latin America and by a vast majority of peoples and governments around the world that reject colonialism.

    In 1960, the United Nations proclaimed the necessity of “bringing to an end colonialism in all its forms and manifestations”. In 1965, the General Assembly adopted, with no votes against (not even by the United Kingdom), a resolution considering the Malvinas Islands a colonial case and inviting the two countries to negotiate a solution to the sovereignty dispute between them.

    This was followed by many other resolutions to that effect.

    In the name of the Argentine people, I reiterate our invitation for us to abide by the resolutions of the United Nations.

    PM David Cameron yesterday backed the islanders remaining British.

    We fired off our newspaper message to Kirchner in her native Spanish.

    She accused Britain of stealing the islands in adverts placed in left-wing British papers The Guardian and Independent.

    But in an open letter today in the Buenos Aires Herald, translated below, The Sun tells her Britain has had sovereignty there before Argentina even existed.

    And we remind her how the Argentine invasion of the islands in 1982, which was ended by our troops, was against the UN charter.

    The islanders hold a referendum on whether they remain British in March.

    But The Sun responded by taking out an advert in the Buenos Aires Herald – an English-language paper with a circulation of around 20,000 – telling Argentina to keep its “hands off”.

    The advert refers to the 649 Argentinian and 255 British servicemen whose lives were lost in the 1982 war and said it was a conflict fought to defend the principle of self-determination.

    The ad goes on to dispute Argentina’s claim to the islands and points out British sovereignty dates back to 1765.

    It ends with the words: “Until the people of the Falkland Islands choose to become Argentinian, they remain resolutely British.”

    But the journalist Daniel Schweimler, who lives in Argentina, said the Sun’s message would not go down well.

    Mr Schweimler, who is based in Buenos Aires, said: “I’ve been here seven years now, and have never come across an Argentine who doesn’t believe that the Falklands belong to Argentina.

    “There’s never been any animosity towards me when I say I’m British, but I think it’s fair to say that almost across the board in a country of 40 million people that Las Malvinas, the Falklands, belong to them,” he added.

    Argentine journalist Celina Andreassi agreed and says the Sun’s advert was quite provocative-BBC news.

    By the result obtained it can be sated,utmost, that the ancestors of Mr.Ian Kinnaird, 72,who lives in Britain,were from a West AfricanVillage.

    To say it is from Eve is non sense.

    The earliest trace that has been established in the result is the fact the ancestor was from West Africa.

    But how do you name her as Eve?

    Or is n new campaign of establishing English Superiority?

    If we accept Eve as the first woman, by logic all of us are her grandchildren, not merely the Britons.

    A DNA test on a Scottish pensioner has revealed he is a direct descendent of the first ever woman who lived on Earth 190,000 years ago.

    Ian Kinnaird, 72, discovered he is effectively the ‘grandfather of everyone in Britain’ after he paid £200 to take the test to trace his ancestry.

    Britain’s DNA, the research team who carried out the test, said the result means that Mr Kinnaird is ‘the grandson of Eve’ – the very first woman.

    The test results showed that Mr Kinnaird, a retired lecturer who lives in Halkirk near John O’Groats, has a genetic marker, L1B1, that can be followed back all the way to an ancient African lineage that has never before been found in Western Europe.

    He has mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) which is passed through the female side is 30,000 years old and only two genetic mutations removed from the first ‘black Eve’.

    Most men, the researchers say, have genes that have incurred around 200 mutations from the earliest humans.

    Mr Kinnaird also found that the YDNA marker on the male side of his genetic make-up is Scandinavian and he carries the same genes that is found in a quarter of all Norwegian men.

    He said: ‘I have led an unremarkable life until now.

    ‘This is a real gobsmacker. I seem to carry a gene from West Africa that arrived through the slave trade.

    ‘I have been researching the links between the slave trade and Liverpool, the area where the female side of my family came from.

    ‘Africa was part of my geography degree at Hull University in 1959, but i couldn’t have imagined anything like this.

    The same L1B1 gene is also carried his 65-year-old sister, Jean.

    Alistair Moffat, St Andrews University’s rector and historian, and James Wilson, a geneticist from Edinburgh University, were responsible for setting up the national study and uncovering the startling results of Mr Kinnaird.

    Mr Moffat said: ‘It is an astonishing result and means he could have been in the ‘Garden of Eden’.

    ‘It is further proof that even white Anglo-Saxon Protestants are descended from a black Eve.

    ‘This lineage appears in Africa, in Senegal, but has never been seen in north-west Europe.

    ‘It is likely to have reached Britain through the arrival of slaves in Liverpool.

    ‘A woman who might be called Eve and a man who might be called Adam really existed.

    ‘Eve, the mother of us all, lived around 190,000 thousand years ago just as homo sapiens were evolving. Other women lived at the same time but only Eve’s mtDNA survived.

    ‘Adam also lived in central Africa, perhaps only around 140,000 years ago. Only his YDNA survived to father all of the male lineages on earth.

    ‘Mr Kinnaird cannot pass on his mtDNA but his sister could and she had a daughter who will carry the lineage.’

    The aim behind Britain’s DNA is to try and make a ‘family tree of Britain’.

    The nationwide study that has examined the DNA of 2,000 people from all over the UK has found that most participants’ genetic markers date back around 3,500 years ago to the days of the earliest Britons, Vikings and even cave painters and hunter gatherers.

    The complete test results suggest 32 per cent of British men are descended from the original Britons, 12 per cent from ancient Germanic lines, 11 per cent are hunter gatherers and 7 per cent are ancient Irish.
