53 Eezham Tamil boat refugees, seeking asylum in Australia but driven to Indonesia, are on a fast-unto-death protest on-board their vessel for the past four days, against the decision of the Indonesian authorities to hand them over to Sri Lanka Navy. The refugees claim that they will be persecuted, even killed, if handed over to the SL Navy. On Tuesday, they sent SOS messages to their families, relatives and journalists in the island to urge the international human rights groups to address their plight. A university student representative in Jaffna confirmed that there were genuine refugees needing international protection in the boat. The refugees heading for Christmas Island of Australia were taken to Indonesia on 28 August by that country’s navy after their boat ran out of fuel in mid sea.
After a dangerous travel on seas for 20 days, their health is steadily deteriorating over the hunger strike and casualties are feared if appropriate action is not taken, sources informed. Among the asylum seekers are 2 disabled persons, 4 women and 3 children.
In the meantime, a spokesman for the refugees in the boat has told reporters in Jaffna and Colombo through a phone conversation that they had started off from a dock near Chennai on 09 August 2012. According to his statement, the boat ran out of fuel on 19 August
In probably the First Divorce in India granted on Wife Swapping ground, this story makes fora sad and angry reading.
The judge ,in his wisdom, let off the couple with merely granting the Divorce.
Wife Swapping Logo.
The Boy should have been charged under SITA(what an acronym for Suppression of Immoral Traffic Act.
The girl should also have been charged under the same section, as she had taken time and there is no mention of Rape(This calls for the re-definition of Rape-read my blog on this)
Is is that the girl had brought the charge because she did not like the ‘partner’ she had?
Cleverly, probably under the advice(?) of a Lawyer she had admitted consuming Liquor .
She had informed her in-laws?
What did she inform?
I know of a Star Hotel in Anna Salai -Chennai, where the wife swapping takes place during week ends.
Be wary or eager ( depends on how you view it) of special entrances charges upwards of Rs 3000/ head with discounts for Couple and drinks on the house on weekends.
The process of wife swapping is very simple and ingenious.
The couple ,whenever they want to leave, just exchange car keys -the usual destination is OMR Road,resorts/individual houses on rent.
What could be the reasons?
It is not as though this is happening now.
Even 15 or years back such instances were there.
Now the incidents are on the rise.
The advent of IT Industry, pay package, the pampered cocooned atmosphere, the atmosphere to mix , the illusion of Life as being ‘Great’, ‘Cool’”awesome’ and easy monetary success contribute to this.
IT industry produces the best paid , most restless, emotionally unstable sad human beings.
Please wake up.
Worse still that the people involved do not even feel it is immoral.
Being immoral is pardonable, Amoral is not.

It might be one among the many divorce cases in the city. But what made it unusual were the grounds on which the divorce was granted — wife-swapping.
Granting divorce to Bhavya (29) (name changed) recently, a family court judge observed: “Practices like wife-swapping spoil Indian society, and people should not forget their culture and tradition by being attracted towards foreign lifestyles.”
In her petition seeking divorce, Bhavya of Chikmagalur said she was married to Dhanush (name changed), a software engineer residing at Jayanagar, three years ago. Both of them were attracted towards lavish western lifestyles. They used to go to late night parties and discos, and Dhanush used to introduce her to his friends, she said.
Bhavya further said sometimes they used to drink together, and Dhanush encouraged his friends to get too close to her. Dhanush also used to get intimate with wives of his friends. Recently, Dhanush and his friends arranged a party at a resort near Nelamangala, where they had brought their wives. At that party, they all drank and Bhavya was completely under the influence of alcohol. They spent the night there.
When Bhavya turned sober the next morning, she found one of Dhanush’s friends sleeping on her bed.
When she informed her husband of that, Dhanush seemed to be knowing about the “arranged incident”, and asked her not to discuss it with any one, Bhavya said.
After that incident, Bhavya refused to go to parties with him. But soon, Dhanush started compelling her to accompany him to parties. When she protested and informed her in-laws about it, he started torturing her.
Unable to bear it any more, she went to her parents’ house and stayed there for one-and-a-half years, but Dhanush continued to torture her, she said in her complaint.”
Wife swapping is a hit for subscription television channel LifeStyle You, with Wife Swap Australiaranking as the number one entertainment programme on the Foxtel and Austar platform on Monday evening.
The premiere of Wife Swap Australia became the channel’s highest rating programme to date with 163,811 viewers.
The Twittersphere lit up too, as #wifeswapau became Australia’s top trending topic for the night.
Wife Swap Australia gives a whole new meaning to domestic bliss and lifts the lid on what it means to be Australian in the 21st century. The programme offers no cash rewards, but seeks to help couples reestablish their love and commitment to each other.
The Documentary focusses on the Smugglers who transport the people.
From the tone and tenor of the smugglers , I have a suspicion whether the Sri Lankan Intelligence Agencies could have had a hand in this, considering that the Naval Boats seemed to have advance information on the boats.
The interview with the Smuggler on the plight of the Tamils makes one wonder if the whole process is a disinformation Campaign.
One thing is clear.
Neither the Sri Lankan Government nor the Sinhala people want the Tamils in Sri Lanka,
Forcible Union of these two will only fester the would and it would be an Asian Irish Problem.
Story:
The video documentary is to be commended for highlighting the economic imperatives that are presently inspiring Sri Lankans, (inclusive, in my interpellation, of Sinhalese and Muslims who take illegal routes to get abroad, often nowadays through air and land journeys with false documents).v The focus in the documentary is on Tamils and it is indicated that most of the aspirant asylum-seekers are males. One English-speaking Tamil tells Noonan that he was “chasing a better life in Australia.” Thereafter, an unnamed Tamil welder, a married man with a 7-year old daughter, who presently earns the equivalent of 200 dollars per month explains to Noonanvi why he has already invested money with a people smuggler towards such a trip and what risks he was prepared to face. He is confident he will get to Australia. His face is not hidden and the video scenes as well as his commentary (in translation) are as credible as striking.
Noonan tells us that the “people smugglers” are “making millions, but offer no guarantee of reaching Australia and no refunds if you don’t make it.” Referring to them as “ruthless people,” he introduces the audience to a people-smuggler in a balaclava, who spoke in Sinhala and clarified his manipulations in response to questions.vii There is every possibility that Noonan was taken for a ride on this occasion. The authenticity of the commentary from this person must be sceptically viewed, with the evidence kept on hold (air traffic metaphor) for the moment.
In contrast the Tamil welder’s testimony is consolidated by the evidence of an English-speaking Tamil introduced as “Spencer.” Spencer was – and IS – a breadth of fresh air. He had been arrested among a boatload that had taken off from “the west coast” [probably Negombo or thereabouts] and Noonan’s interview was with official permission in some jail. His straight-talking opinions will be a shock to the gullible Aussie human rights advocates and the general readership who have swallowed the tale that Tamils in Sri Lanka today in 2011/12 – whatever the story in the past — are fleeing from persecution. Let me introduce some extracts verbatim or in summary paraphrase.
In response to the question why he was prepared to work through “people-smugglers,” Spencer said: “the thing is there is no other way. We must get their help.”
And why did he venture thus: “to make money; to live a luxurious life,” said Spencer
“”Srikkanth has a big problem in communicating. A player like Laxman would not train so hard just to keep himself fit for two Tests. If they (selectors) conveyed their opinion to Laxman earlier, this situation would not have surfaced. Why they stretched till August? Probably, the selectors’ judgement has hurt him (Laxman) the most,” Ganguly said.
Ganguly also felt that Srikkanth’s selection policy would be detrimental to Indian cricket‘s progress.
“They don’t select a team taking the future of Indian cricket into account. They merely do a balancing act by means of removing and adding somebody. Indian cricket will not progress this way,” he had stated. ”
What did Srikkanth not communicate?
His job as a Selection Chief is to pick the squad along with the other Selectors.
This he has done.
Is one to be selected because he is at the nets and training for the whole season?
On rethink, Ganguly might be laughing at this statement.
As a Captain, has he followed this pearl of Wisdom?
If at the nets be the criterion, then all those called to the nets should be chosen for the season.
The other point made by Ganguly is that the selectors have hurt VVS by extending his career till August!
By extending till the end of the season, would they have not hurt Laxman after the season?
Ridiculous argument.
Again, yes, Selection is addition and removal.
If not hat else?
To the impartial VVS , though was a great Player, is definitely over the hill.
Reflexes have become slower, though they were not great to begin with.(except while batting)
One has to search for a position to hide him in the field.
I belong to the minority who think that, despite his Calcutta knock against Aussies and some more knocks, notably against Australia again,he belongs to those group of Players who play a great innings once in a while and would like to ensure his place in the Team for years to come.
VVS Laxman could not have retired in any other manner than this way.
All can not be Gavaskars.!(in Retiring)
Ganguly says that Laxman is a great team man and he had a problem in contacting MS Dhoni.
Making this claim does not indicate of being a Team Man.
