    “Namastey Sharada Devi Kashmir Pur Vasini Tvam Ham Prartheye Nityam Vidya Danam Che De hi mey” meaning Salutations to you,

     

    Sharada, O Goddess, O one who resides in Kashmir. I pray to you daily, please give me the charity of knowledge.

     

    This is the Prayer recited by the people of Kashmir even to day about the Saradha Desh.

    This is where,

     

    Adi Shankaracharya ascended the Sarvagna Peetha, Seat of Learning of Throne of Wisdom’

     

    Ramanujacharya visited and contemplated before embarking upon his commentary on Brahma Sutra,

     

    ‘The temple is so ancient that Kashmir State was earlier known as ‘Sharada Peeth’. It is at this temple that Sankaracharya received the right to sit on

    the Sarvanjnanapeetham orSarvajna peetha(Throne of Wisdom).

     

    The temple is at a height of 11000 feet above the sea level and is about 70 miles from Shrinagar.

    The length of the temple is 142 feet and width is 94.6 feet. The outer walls of the temple are 6 ft. wide and 11 ft long.

     

     

    And there are arches with 8 ft. height. It is a very good example of architecture.

     

     

    The Śāradā image atShringeri Sharadamba temple was once said to have been made of sandalwood, which is supposed to have been taken by

    the Shankaracharya from here.”

     

    *Kashmiri Pandits from India regularly try to visit this temple to offer prayers, but there are instances where they were not permitted to cross the LOC and visit the temple.

     

    Yet some of the best photographs of this place is by Pakistani Muslims.

     

    Location of the Temple.

    The temple is located in the remote village of Sharda, in Pakistan’ Neelam Valley, at a distance of 60 miles from Baramulla in Indian-administered Kashmir, and 40 miles from Muzaffarabad, capital of Azad Kashmir. It lies 16 miles to the northwest of the Line of Control in a militarily sensitive area.

    Given its close proximity to the contentious Line of Control, access to the site by foreigners is sometimes restricted during periods of heightened tension with India.

     

    In 2007, a group of Kashmiri Pandits who were permitted to visit Azad Kashmir were denied permission visit the temple.

    Citizens of Pakistan, including its Hindu population, do not face any official restriction in visiting the site. Visitors from India are generally refused access to the region, given its close proximity to the Line of Control, though foreigners from other countries do not face similar restrictions – although they may be denied entry during periods of heightened tensions with India.

    Adi guru Shankaracharya paid a visit to Sharada Nilaya in Kashmir known as Sarvajna Peetha (the seat of the all knowing).

    Those who are not all-knowing are not entitled to sit on it; no one could claim to be an expert in any religion or philosophy without sitting on it. Shankara did not wish to show himself off as Sarvajna.

    He felt that Sri Sharada Nilaya with Sarvajna Peetha was by itself a place worthy of visit by all devotees. Besides, Kashmir is the crown of Bharat. So he resolved to go there, lest the ancient Hindu religion should perish there.

    There are four gates in four directions for entering Sharada Nilaya.

    Eminent scholars and philosophers had entered it from various directions and had established their scholarly merit But no one so far had adorned this chair of Sarvajna.

    And also till their no one had even attempted to enter the temple through the Southern gate May be this gate was waiting for Acharya Shankara. only who was from the South! Scholars of many group and communities were waiting for him in ‘ the premises of Sir SharadaNilaya

    All were filled with a feeling of reverence to see him who was learned in both Jnana and Vijnana Yet the scholars in religious philosophies of Jaina, Bouddha, Samkhya, Yoga, Nays and Vaisheshika confronted him at the time of his entry to the temple, Shankara defeated all of them in philosophical debate and then entered the temple through the Southern gate.

    Acharya went to ascend Sarvajna Peetha. Sri Sharada, the presiding deity of all learning, herself set a test for him. Shankara passed this test also. After this the Goddess Herself blessed him, proclaiming his omniscience. So say the ‘Shankara Vijayas’.

  • Mantra For Setting Aright Errant Family Member

    We, at one time or another, have a Family Member, in errant ways.

     

    They are not outright bad or malicious.

     

    Just that they behave, in a manner of speaking, irresponsibly,become highly irritable, refuse to go work,do not get involved with other Family members.

     

    At times they may go missing for a couple of Days.

     

    Many ascribe it to Graha Peeta or due to some black magic.

     

    As for as I am concerned it just happens.

     

    People visit Psychiatrist who counsels or prescribes some anti-depressant.

     

    I have seen that none of them are too effective.

     

    What is most effective is the Sloka of Adi Shankaracharya in Subramanya Bhujangam

     

    This sloka has to be recited by the relatives, either the Father, or Son or Mother , Husband or wife, depending on who is affected.

    The Universe, according to Modern Astrophysics contains 4% of Matter and 96% of Antimatter.

    The Purusha Sukta says the Manifested, or Matter, as equivalent to Ten Inches, if the Universe is taken, as a Human Being.

    ‘Sa Bhoomim Viswatho Vruthvaa Athyathishta Dasaangulam”

    Prakriti and Purusha are the two principles of Nature one is Positive  and another Negative, in terms of configuration of Atoms.

    Prakriti is Inert while Purusha is Dynamic.

    Together  they form the world.

    This is one aspect of explaining Ardhanaareswara.

    Together, they, Siva and Sakthi  form the world.

    2.If we want to communicate to Aliens and if they want to contact us the most likely medium is Sound.

    Other modes like mathematics, high intensity light, one is  not sure whether they could be understood by the other.

    One can always understand the primordial Sound.

    This idea seems to have struck Spielberg in his movie,’Close encounters of the Third Kind

    In the film , the Aliens and the earthlings communicate with each other through  sound, which sounds OM, listen to the Sound in the Film intently.

    So the Sabda Pramana, that is Sound is among the highest rated among the Five elements, out of which the other elements evolved.

    What is the most natural sound of the world, excepting the one that resonates in Space?

    It is the buzzing of the Bees.

    How does it sound?

    ‘Hreem’

    This is the Moola Akshara of Devi.

    Sankaracharya describes it as,

    “Hreenkaara Manrtojvalaam’

    ‘You are the One as the Hreenkaara and shine with effulgence.

    It is the buzzing of the Bees that is primordial in the world that makes an Akshara.

    3.The Universe, according to Quantum, exists at different levels and the Master Controller of the entire Universe is a tiny particle.

    How does Shankaracharya explain this point”

    ‘Srichakraangitha Bindhu madhya Vasatheem’

    The One who resides in the midst of Bindhu( very minute particle) which is in the Srichakra.

    4.And what is Space and how does one know directions in Space?

    The answer , according to Quantum , is that the Space is everywhere yet we do not know whether it is some where.

    So it has to be there , we are sore if it is there, yet . it is to point Everywhere.

    Look at the Sri Chakra’s Triangles, they point everywhere but collectively where?

    ‘Srichakra…….Vasathhem’

    5.The Universe in which we live is one among the many verses, they seem to be infinite in number(both in Matter and Antimatter)

    And what we see is only a perspective or put it simply we see what we want to see or perceive.

    This, from Quantum!

    So in short, in the words of Shakespeare, ‘All the World is a Stage’

    Shankaracharya puts it.

    The One who oversees the Drama , that is Universes.

    6.And why does the Universe we perceive look Real though it is Unreal?

    Because you are bewitched by ignorance,

    Shankara calls it ,,because of ‘JaganMohineem’ the attribute of Devi to bewitch to see things as they are not, when you are not spiritually developed.

    He concludes the sloka with the adjectives for Devi as ,

    Srimad Shanmugha Vigna Raaja Jananeem’

    One who gave birth to Subramanya , with six aspects and Ganesha, the One who removes obstacles.

    Why these objectives ?

    He could have used a Siva, he being Her equal partner.

    But The ignorance is the impediment for Realization and Ganesha removes it.

    And Subramanya , in His six aspects, is the Best among those who realized Brahman, who taught His father, Shiva, the Pranava,.

    In Sanskrit if you add ‘Su’ as an affix , it indicates the best,

    He is Su-Brahmanya, Subramanya.

    Now enjoy the gret Meenakshi Pancharatna , where Adi Shanjkaracharya talks of Quantum and Indian Philosophy at the same time.

    The Sun is called Surya and is given the pride of place in Hinduism.

     

    He is hailed as Prathyaksha Brahma, the visible Reality,Brahman.

     

    So much so, Lord Krishna had the Hymn on Surya in the Sandhyavandan.

     

    The portion in the Sandhyavandan,

     

    Namassvitre Jadadeega Chakshuse, Jagat Prasoothi Stithi Naasa hethave,

     

    Thramayeyaa thrigunaathmadhaarine, virinchi narayana sankaraathmane,

     

    Threyas satha  Savitru mandalavvaan Madhyavarthi ….”

     

    was included by Yudhistir at the command of Lord Krishna, when Lord Krishna had the Amavasya, New Moon advanced by a day before the

     

    Mahabharata war.

     

    The Surya Mandala Stotra was taught to Arjuna By Lord Krishna(Bhavishya Puran)

     

     

    So important is Surya worship Adi Shankaracharya established  Saura as one of the Six systems of Hindu worship,Shanmathas.

     

    Adityahruthaya sloka was taught to Lord Ram by Sage Agastya to help Ram to win the war against Ravana.

     

     

     

    Suryamandala Ashtakam is not well-known.

     

    But they are very effective, especially when one is depressed.

     

    It grants the power to tide over crises.
