  • Lord Ganesh,Nazis and Goddess Lakhsmi in Bikini.

Lord Ganesha is reported to be shown being tortures by Nazis, in a play in Melbourne.

Some time back Goddess Lakshmi was depicted in a swimsuit.

    Hindus are enraged, naturally.

We should remember that Hinduism does not beg respect from people.

Hinduism is for the elevation of the individual and it does not care how you depict it.

If  the mentally sick want to depict Hindu Gods and Goddesses, in the name of Creativity, like M.F.Husain did( he must not be criticized lest you be called non-secular!), in any manner they like as their warped minds could conceive of, let them.

Grown ups do not argue with Children or the mentally deficient.

An Australian play depicting God Ganesha being tortured and interrogated by infamous Nazi Secret Service has raised the shackles of a Hindu community activist who has objected saying the deity should not be made a ” laughing stock on stage”, reports PTI. The play ‘The Ganesh versus the Third Reich‘, by Australia- based Back to Back Theatre, is having a world premiere at Melbourne Festival in Australia on September 29.

US- based Hindu activist Rajan Zed said the play is creating irrelevant imaginary imagery, like depicting Ganesha being tortured and interrogated by Adolf Hitlers Nazi Secret Service….

    All Nakshatras are permitted.

    Horais.

Just like a day has its specialities, each hour of the day also has its own specialities.

Originally each 24 hour day was split into 60 naazhigais, each 24 minutes long. Thus two and a half nazhigais constitute one modern hour which was known as horai (hora) in ancient times.

We have Soorya horai, Chandra horai, Angaaraka horai, Budha horai, Guru horai, Sukra horai and Sani horai times during each day.

    Sukra Horai is Ideal.

  • Thoppukaranam, Brain Yoga Exercise. Video.

The traditional way of  Hindus praying/ prostrating before Gods is different from the way one does  to Lord Ganesa.

    Lord Ganesa.

In this process, one holds the Right year by the Left hand and the left by The Right.

Standing on the toes of the feet, one has to go down till the calves and the back of the thighs touch each other.

Then, one has to rise straight and repeat the process.

This Religious practice followed by the Hindus is found to be most useful in increasing the electrical activity of the Brain and enhances Brain Health.

This is named as Super Brain Yoga.

    Watch the Video.

There is a Legend narrated by Kanchi Periyavar in ‘Deivathin Kural’ part -1.

Lord Vishnu went to meet up with Lord Siva and showed his Sudarsana Chakra to the child Lord Ganesa.( it is not Ganesha/Ganesh)

(The Sudarshana Chakra (Sanskrit: सुदर्शन चक्र) is a spinning, disk-like super weapon with 108 serrated edges used by Lord Vishnu. The Sudarshana Chakra is portrayed on the right rear hand of the four hands of Vishnu, who also holds a Shankha (a conch shell) in his left rear hand, a Gada(mace) in his right fore hand, and a Padma (lotus) in his left fore hand.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudarshana_Chakra)

The child grabbed and swallowed it!

Unable to retrieve,Lord Vishnu made a prank of holding his ears with his four ears , sat and stood again.

The child laughed heartily and and the Sudarsana Chakra came out.

Lord Vishnu then declared that those who do the same before Lord Ganesa shall receive His and Lord Ganesh‘s Blessings.( I have marked as Ganesh here to enable Readers to go to Wikipedia)

‘Thorpi’ in Sanskrit means hands, ”karanam’ means ‘ears’.

That this practice is not initiated by Man is explained by Paramacharya.

In Sanskrit there are three categories to indicate numbers in Grammar,as againt two in other languages.

We have Singular and Plural in English;’ஒருமை , பன்மை ‘ in Tamil.

Singular indicates one, whereas Plural denotes more than one.

    The same in Tamil.

In Sanskrit there are three categories.

    Singular-Eka Vachanam-Singular.

    Dwi vachanam-Indicates Two.

    Bahu Vachanam-More than Two.

As Lord Vishnu has four hands The Acharya concludes that this Thoppukaranam practice was started by Lord Vishu and not by Man as Human’s have only two hands.

Dr. Paul Nogier MD, a neurologist, spent 20 years from 1950 to about 1970 doing medical research. He rediscovered that the ears correspond to the whole body. The ear corresponds to an inverted fetus curled in the womb. The ear lobe corresponds to the head [ref: Nogier, Dr. Paul M. F., Handbook to Auriculotherapy, (France, 1981)]. The correspondence of the ear to the whole body was already recognized by the ancient Chinese acupuncturists and also to the great rishis (teachers) in India, who developed a technique to increase people’s intelligence. Now we know it worked because it was based on the principle of ear acupuncture.

    THE ENERGY BODY
Clairvoyants, with the use of their psychic faculties, have observed that the physical body is surrounded and interpenetrated by a luminous energy body, which resembles the visible physical body. Clairvoyants call this the etheric double or etheric body. The “energy body” as they called it was first photographed by Russian scientists Semyon Davidovich Kirlian and his wife in 1939. With the aid of Kirlian photography, they observed, studied and photographed small bioplasmic articles* like the “light” or bioplasmic energy of the fingers, leaves, etc. It is through this energy body that prana or vital life energy is absorbed and distributed throughout the whole physical body [ref: Master Choa Kok Sui, Miracles Through Pranic Healing, (Phil, 1987), 5]

  • Were The Tamil Kings Atheists,Anti-Brahmin?

Skanda, Muruga or Karthikeya, from the temple ...
    Image via Wikipedia

There is a canard spun by Karunanidhi and Company going on in Tamil Nadu that Tamil Culture is Anti-Vedic and Anti-Brahmin.

    Facts point out differently.

Agamas owe their origin to Tamil Culture (see my blog on  Srimad Bhagavad Gita).

As a matter of fact the Gods worshiped in Tamil Culture are Maayon ( Vishnu), Cheyon (Lord Subrahmanya), Korkkai ( Goddess Durga), Varuna and Indra.

These are Gods that find a place in the Vedas.

Lord Subrahmanya is not mentioned in the Vedas.

Skanda is mentioned and it is said to denote Lord Subrahmanya.

Earliest Grammar of Tamil, Agaththiyam (only portions of it are recovered) notes these Gods.

Tholkappiyam defines Tamils  Land Mass and  details the life of the Tamils.

The period between New Moon and Full Moon in Simha Maasa (approximately in September)for 15 days is named as Mahalaya Paksha.

Lunar Calendar of Hindus divides a month with reference to the waxing and waning of the Moon, into two.(for details on Hindu/Indian Calculation of Time’ please read my Blog’TIME-Non-Linear Theory, filed in Astrophysics).

The waxing period is called Sukla Paksha(Sukla in Sanskrit means White,  here indicates the waxing of the Moon),ending in Full Moon, Pounima, also called Pournamasya.

The waning period is called Krishna Paksha( Krishna means Black),culminating in New Moon called Amavasya.

Each Paksha has 14 Days ,one Amavasya and one Pournima makes a Month.

One is expected to perform the duties due to the Departed daily, that is do Tharppana daily.

This applies all Castes, Brahmana,Kshatriya ,Vaisya and Sudra.

We have conveniently omitted to follow the Sastras, by saying that the Srardha and Tharppana  are to be performed only by  Brahmins .

We also have made it a habit of performing Tharppana only on Amavasya,Beginning of the New Month,Mahalaya ,Aadi ,Grahana( Eclipses)  periods and Srardha Thithi.

This Behavior is not  sanctioned by The Sastras.

Of all The Tharppanas ,Mahalaya Tharppana is very Special.

This period falls in The Dakshinayana-movement of the Sun to Southern Latitudes ,this is for six months.

This begins from Adi and extends up to Makara Sankaranthi ( January 14)

In the Dakshinayana, the Devas and Pitrus(ancestors) are said to be asleep and the wake up in Uttarayana (from January 14 for six months )

We are expected to perform Thrappana during the entire Paksha starting from Amavasya in Simha Masa till Pournima- for 14 days.

The habit of doing only on Maha Barani,Maha Navami etc are procedures we have invented ourselves because of our reluctance/laziness.

One has to perform Sandhya Vandana-Madhyanniham,follow it up with Brahma Yagnam, then do the Tharppana daily on all the fourteen days.

At the beginning, changing Upaveedham is recommended.

Tharppna/Srardha should be performed only after 12 Noon-after Madhyanniha.

It is highly recommended to feed the Hungry-not necessarily Brahmins.

Better locate some one who is hungry as you go out on the Day, take him / her to a hotel and feed them.

    Avoid paying cash.

Ideal would be to feed the hungry at your Home. One might also gift people who are needy with new clothes,Foot wear, umbrella and winter clothes.

    Feed the cows and Dogs.

    Benefits of Tharppana/Srardha.

Sastras  declare that there is no atonement for failing to perform the Tharppana and Srardha.

Of all the curses, Piru Saapa (curse), along with Sumangali Saapa (curse by women who expired when husbands  are alive) are the Deadliest.

Those who perform these Karmas will be blessed with Children, Grand Children. Wealth;will be free of chronic diseases, irritating circumstances and inexplicable problems in the family.

If the ancestors Bless us( we are here because of them), God follows suit.

If parents curse us,(which a parent rarely does) , even God will let us down.
