Protogonos Greek First Born From Prajapati Hinduism

The term Prajapati means Lord of Citizens or Humans, the First Being. Indian texts speak of the First Man or Being extensively in Ancient texts of India called Puranas.

‘Prajapati ( प्रजापति) is a compound of “praja” (creation, procreative powers) and “pati” (lord, master). The term means “lord of creatures”,or “lord of all born beings”.In the later Vedic texts, Prajapati is a distinct Vedic deity, but whose significance diminishes.Later, the term is synonymous with other gods, particularly Brahma or Vishnu or Shiva. Still later, the term evolves to mean any divine, semi-divine or human sages who create something new.

    Brahma

The names of the Prajapatis vary. However it is generally accepted as one who has descended from Brahma The Creator.

Variously named and identified and Daksha,Savitr,… are the Prajapatis.

    • And there is a little uncertainty about who the first Human being is.

It is to be noted that, contrary to what we think Time is Cyclic and not Linear,World dissolves to come back to Existence again,Human advancement was much more than what we now think, there are N number of Historical Biological Anamolies that force one to rethink our present concepts of Human History. We find now that Dinosaurs coexisted with Humans, non human species mated with Homo sapiens and there are monuments, sites throughout the world that question our present concepts. It is possible that Human Beings were in touch with who are not humans and that they had influenced us.

The First Human Name seems to vary with each Time cycle. This is brought out in the Concept of Manvantaras, a huge Time scale. Each Manvantara had a different Prajapati.Sometimes more than one is noticed and it is accounted by the fact that there is a Time frame where two huge Time scales shift, the transition period called as Yuga Sandhi, the meeting of Yugas.

The concept of first human or Creator is found in All civilizations. However in terms of antiquity the reference in Sanatan Dharma is precedes every other civilization. Therefore I have been looking for reference to Prajapati concepts around the world.

I have found that the early Greek concept of First Human or Prajapati seems to have been derived from Sanatana Dharm. Before the Secularists and Anglophiles in India jump that this is twisting of facts and history, I would like to add, please search Greeks ramanan50.

possible connection between Prajapati (and related figures in Indian tradition) and the Prōtogonos (Ancient Greek: Πρωτογόνος, literally “first-born”) of the Greek Orphic tradition has been proposed:

Protogonos is the Orphic equivalent of Vedic Prajapati in several ways: he is the first god born from a cosmic egg, he is the creator of the universe, and in the figure of Dionysus— a direct descendant of Protogonos—worshippers participate in his death and rebirth.— Kate Alsobrook, The Beginning of Time: Vedic and Orphic Theogonies and Poetics. Reference and citation.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prajapati

I have written that Dionysus concept is borrowed from Siva.

Bhrigu from Greece Greek priests in Rig Veda

Daksha, according to Hindu mythology, is one of the Prajapatis, the progenitors of mankind. He is also known as the son of Brahma, the creator, and his importance in the Puranas cannot be overstated. Daksha is associated with various legends, the most famous of which is his conflict with his daughter Sati and her husband, Shiva. This conflict ultimately leads to Sati’s self-immolation at a sacrifice held by Daksha and the subsequent destruction of Daksha’s sacrifice by Virabhadra, a wrathful manifestation of Shiva. Daksha is then beheaded by Virabhadra, only to be later revived and reconciled with Shiva. The story of Daksha is often seen as a cautionary tale about the consequences of hubris and the importance of respecting divine powers. His role as a Prajapati and his tumultuous relationship with Shiva make Daksha a significant figure in Hindu mythology.

  • Gotra Of Shiva Vishnu Brahma

There was a query from one of the readers of this blog as to which Gotra the Trimurthis,Brahma,Vishnu and Shiva belong?

Thrimurthis are Brahma ,Vishnu and Rudra.

Rudra is an aspect of Shiva, and  Not Shiva in His all aspects.

Vishnu is an aspect of Narayana.

The term Vishnu is from the Sanskrit root Jishnu

‘Vishnum Jishnum Mahavishnum prabha Vishnum Maheswaram’ -Vishnu Sahasranama.

    Jishnu means ‘supporting,supportive’

As Vishnu is the Protector and supports the Universe,he is called Vishnu.

Narayana is an aspect of Brahman,Reality.

And Vishnu is an aspect of Narayana.

There are two interpretations of the term Narayana.

Narayeti Narayanaha, one who shows Man(Nara) how to Live, conduct Himself.

Another is One who lives in Water(naaram),Ocean of Milk,Ksheera Sagar.

So Vishnu is an aspect of Narayana, who is an aspect of Nirguna (beyond Attributes) Nirguna Brahman,Reality beyond Attributes,a Principle.

Now to the Gotra of Brahma,Vishnu and Rudra.

    Trimurthis.image
    Trimurthis

Sage Kasyapa had thirty three children.

Eleven Rudras,Twelve Adityas,Eight Vasus, Two Aswini Kumaras.

These thirty three are the Primary God’s of Hinduism.

Of them were twelve Adityas, and eleven Rudra.

Therefore Rudra and Vishnu belong to Kasyapa Gotra,by lineage.

As Brahma was born of Vishnu,He belongs to Kasyapa Gotra.

As to Shiva, there is no reference of Him having been of Womb in any of His Avatars.

Therefore Gotra can not be ascribed.

  • Rudra Birth Place Adi Gokarna Creates World Ekadasa Rudras

Not much of is known about Rudra, excepting the Maha Mantra Sri Rudram, which is invogue to worship Lord Shiva.

Rudra is considered to be an Amsa, a part of Shiva in performance of His Duty of Destruction of The Universe.

The destruction is not annihilation but Concealment,Thirodhaana.

    Rudra Manifestation. Rudra Manifestation.

There are Five Attributes of Lord Shiva.

    Shiva means Auspiciousness.

    Rudra's Birth Place.jpg Rudra’s Birth Place, Gokarna.

    Adi Gokarna.jpg Adi Gokarna.

    The Five Attributes are.

    Srushti, Creation,

    Sthithi,Stabilization and maintenance,

Samhara, Destruction as a Prelude to Concealment,

    Thirodhaana, Concealment and

Anugraha,Divine Blessing-Anugraha is difficult to translate into English, it is more than Divine Blessing, Blessing by Divine with a Personal touch.

The aspect destruction is carried out by Rudra and Rudra is called as a Gana of Shiva, some other Ganas being  Ganapati(Ganesha) who is the Chief of Ganas, Nandikeshwara.

The Sri Rudra begins with the Salutation,

    Om Namo Bhagawate Rudaaya,

    Namsthe Rudramanyave,

    My obeisance to Lord Rudra,

    My obeisance to Your Anger.

Rudra is the personification of Righteous Anger.

As such He is always portrayed as one with uncontrollable anger.

He is also called as a Hunter.,Kraatha.

I shall be writing in detail about the History of Shiva and Rudra from the available Historical evidence.

There are eleven Rudras, Ekadasa Rudras.

    They are,

Mrgavadha, Sarpa, Nirriti, Ajaikapad, Ahi Budhnya, Pinakin, Dahana, Ishvara, Kapalin, Sthanu and Bhaga(Mahabharata)

Manyu, Manu, Mahmasa, Mahan, Siva, Rtudhvaja, Ugraretas, Bhava, Kama, Vamadeva and Dhrtavrata.(Vishnu Purana)

Kapali, Pingala, Bhima, Virupaksa, Vilohita, Ajesha, Shasana, Shasta, Shambhu, Chanda and Dhruva –Matsya Purana.

    The origin of Rudra differs.

They are eleven of the 33 children of the sage Kashyapa and his wife Aditi, along with the 12 Adityas, 8 Vasus and 2Ashvins, constituting the Thirty-three gods-Ramayana.

Rudras are the sons of Kashyapa and Aditi-Vamana Purana.

Rudra – here identified with Shiva – was born from the anger of the creator-god Brahma. The furious Rudra was in Ardhanari form, half his body was male and other half female. He divided himself into two: the male and female. The male form then split itself into eleven, forming the eleven Rudras. Some of them were white and gentle; while others were dark and fierce. They are called Manyu, Manu, Mahmasa, Mahan, Siva, Rtudhvaja, Ugraretas, Bhava, Kama, Vamadeva and Dhrtavrata. From the woman were born the eleven Rudranis who became wives of the Rudras. They are Dhi, Vrtti, Usana, Urna, Niyuta, Sarpis, Ila, Ambika, Iravatl, Sudha and Diksa. Brahma allotted to the Rudras the eleven positions of the heart and the five sensory organs, the five organs of action and the mind.

    The Birth Place of Rudra.

Adi Gokarna is mentioned as the birth place of Rudra.

When it took a long time for Brahma, who was ordered to Create the Universe, he became angry and as a result of His anger a child was born and when Brahma opened His eyes he found a Child crying and He asked the Child,

    Why do you cry”

    Kim Ruda?(Sanskrit)

Brahma named the child as Rudra.

This child was considered to be aspect of Sankara and Brahma asked Him to create the Universe and He created a perfect world only with One Guna, Satvik, Pure, gentle, ascetic.

Brahma found it was not alright and produced the world with Satva ,Rajas and Tamas qualities, purity & goodness (Satvik), action and passion (Rajas), Ignorance and Inertia (Tamas).

This He produced in the Brahma Loka while Sankara created the Satvik world from the Patala Loka.

On knowing that Brahma created a world of His own, Rudra became furious and rose as a Thunder towards the sky about to annihilate the Earth.

Bhoomi (Mother Earth) was terrified by this  pleaded Rudra,

“Oh my Lord, I am a woman and more so, a frightened one. I am at the risk of destruction and I will be shattered into pieces without any fault of mine. So please forgive me”.

Her fearful but innocent pleading moved Rudra.

He asked if she had any wishes. Bhoomi requested him to move out slowly from a tiny hole in her ear. She also requested him to take a tiny form (Angushta Matra).

Rudra conceded to her request and came out of Bhoomi’s ear.

After coming out, Lord Shankar showered blessings on Bhoomi.

He said Bhoomi one of your names is “Go” and as I came out of yourkarna (ear), this place where I emerged shall be known, as Gokarna. He also said, I am as good as born here and hence this place shall also be known as “Rudra Yoni”

Sages (Rishis) consecrated a ShivaLinga at the point of emergenceand It is this Shivlinga in Gokarna realm, known as “Aaadi Gokarna

  • Shiva Thiruvannamalai At The Instant Of Earth’s Creation By Brahma

Shiva Thiruvannamalai At The Instant Of Earth’s Creation By Brahma

The Puranas speak of Time on a Huge scale.

There are four Yugas and they are created, destroyed and recreated.

According to Hinduism, destruction is a misnomer.

    It is hidden.

Curious enough modern Quantum Physics calls it in a different way as projection of Multi Verses.

    Aarati to Tirupati Balaji Moolavar.jpg
    Aarati to Tirupati Balaji Moolavar.

I have written a couple of articles on Multi verses in Hinduism.

The Time scale of Sanatana Dharma has the following points.

    1. The Universe is created, hidden and re projected.
    2. This happens at three-time frames called  Manvantara, Kalpa and Yuga.
    3. Three kinds of cataclysms take place. One is water, Another by Fire and another is total darkness each of these correspond to the dissolution at the end of Manvantara, Kalpa and yuga.
    4. The Universe is eternal.
    5. Time is eternal.
    6. Time is non linear.
    7. Time is Cyclic.

    Arunachala Mountaion, Pre historic.jpg
    Arunachala Mountaion, Pre historic.

Brahma’s day is divided in one thousand cycles (Maha Yuga, or the Great Year). Maha Yuga, during which life, including the human race appears and then disappears, has 71 divisions, each made of 14 Manvantara (1000) years. Each Maha Yuga lasts for 4,320,000 years.

Manvantara is Manu’s cycle, the one who gives birth and governs the human race. before & after each manvantara there’s a sandhikal as long as krutyuga & in that time there is all water on earth.

Each Maha Yuga consists of a series of four shorter yugas, or ages.

The yugas get progressively worse from a moral point of view as one proceeds from one yuga to another. As a result, each yuga is of shorter duration than the age that preceded it.

The current Kali Yuga (Iron Age) began at midnight 17 February / 18 February in 3102 BC in the proleptic Julian calendar (Year 6898 of the Holocene Era.) kalpa=ahoratra of brahma. Space and time are considered to be maya (illusion). What looks like 100 years in the cosmos of Brahma could be thousands of years in other worlds, millions of years in some other worlds and 311 trillion and 40 billion years for our solar system and earth. The life span of Lord Brahma, the creator, is 100 ‘Brahma-Years’.

One day in the life of Brahma is called a Kalpa or 4.32 billion years.Every Kalpa creates 14 Manus one after the other, who in turn manifest and regulate this world. Thus, there are fourteen generations of Manu in each Kalpa. Each Manu’s life (Manvantara) consists of 71 Chaturyugas (quartets of Yugas or eras). Each Chaturyugais composed of four eras or Yugas: Satya, Treta, Dwapara and Kali. if we add all manvantaras(4320000x71x14)as long as 4 chaturyuga will be missing its because sandhikaal.after & before each manvantara so 15 sandhikaal The span of the Satya Yuga is 1,728,000 human years, Treta Yuga is 1,296,000 human years long, the Dwapara Yuga 864,000 human years and the Kali Yuga432,000 human years.[8] When Manu perishes at the end of his life, Brahma creates the next Manu and the cycle continues until all fourteen Manus and the Universe perish by the end of Bramha’s day. When ‘night’ falls, Brahma goes to sleep for a period of 4.32 billion years, which is a period of time equal one day (of Brahma) and the lives of fourteen Manus. The next ‘morning’, Brahma creates fourteen additional Manus in sequence just as he has done on the previous ‘day’. The cycle goes on for 100 ‘divine years’ at the end of which Brahma perishes and is regenerated. Bramha’s entire life equals 311 trillion, 40 billion years. Thus a second of Brahmā is 98,630 years. Once Brahma dies there is an equal period of unmanifestation for 311 trillion, 40 billion years, until the next Bramha is created. During one life of Brahma there are 504 000 Manus (Vedic “Adams”) are changing, there are 5040 Manus are changing during one year of Brahma, and 420 Manus manifest during one month of Brahmā. (See: List of numbers in Hindu scriptures for more such numeric details).

During the course of my research into Sanatana Dharma I stumbled across these facts which are authenticated by Modern Science.

    1. Thiruvannamali in Tamil Nadu, India is over 3.5 Billion Years old.
    2. Shiva Uma Marraige took place 40 Millionyeas ago.
    3. Tirupati is over 2100 million years old.
    4. An ancient site is Chennai, Tamil Nadu is dated around a Million years
    5. Jwalapuram ,Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, India is dated around 74,000 years

I wanted to look into this taking into account these points,The Age of Earth as stated by the Hindu Puranas and by Modern science.

Now according to Hindu Cosmology, the earth is .4.32 Billion years old.

The puranic view asserts that the universe is created, destroyed, and re-created in an eternally repetitive series of cycles. In Hindu cosmology, a universe endures for about 4,320,000,000 years (one day of Brahma, the creator or kalpa) and is then destroyed by fire or water elements. At this point, Brahma rests for one night, just as long as the day. This process, named pralaya (literallyespecial dissolution in Sanskrit, commonly translated as Cataclysm), repeats for 100 Brahma years (311 Trillion, 40 Billion Human Years) that represents Brahma’s lifespan. Brahma is regarded as a manifestation of Brahman as the creator.

Modern scientific view is that the earth is…4.54 Billion years + or – 5 Billion years!

The age of the Earth is 4.54 ± 0.05 billion years (4.54 × 109 years ± 1%). This age is based on evidence from radiometric age dating of meteorite material and is consistent with the radiometric ages of the oldest-known terrestrial and lunar samples.

Following the scientific revolution and the development of radiometric age dating, measurements of lead in uranium-rich mineralsshowed that some were in excess of a billion years old.The oldest such minerals analyzed to date—small crystals of zircon from the Jack Hills of Western Australia—are at least 4.404 billion years old. Comparing the mass and luminosity of the Sun to those of other stars, it appears that the Solar System cannot be much older than those rocks. Calcium-aluminium-rich inclusions  – the oldest known solid constituents within meteorites that are formed within the Solar System – are 4.567 billion years old, giving an age for the solar system and an upper limit for the age of Earth.

It is hypothesised that the accretion of Earth began soon after the formation of the calcium-aluminium-rich inclusions and themeteorites. Because the exact amount of time this accretion process took is not yet known, and the predictions from different accretion models range from a few millions up to about 100 million years, the exact age of Earth is difficult to determine. It is also difficult to determine the exact age of the oldest rocks on Earth, exposed at the surface, as they are aggregates of minerals of possibly different ages..

Now Thiruvannamalai,Tamil Nadu, India is 3.5 Billion years old!

In Puranic version of Brahma’s creation, the first creation for this kalpa was around 4.32 Billion Years.

In such great stretches of Time 5 to 10 billion years is allowed in calculation.

Hence it is probable Shiva was at Thiruvannamalai when Brahma created the world around 4.32 Billion Years ago!

I shall be exploring this data from other angles as well.

  • Origin of Thamboola Auspicious Gift Hinduism

It is customary for Indian households to offer Gift to visitors.

Mandatory are the Kumkum(Vermillion) and Thamboola.

The Kumkum is a sign of wealth and prosperity and it represents Goddess Mahaslakshmi, called as Sri.

    Thamboolam.Image.jpg Thamboolam.

The significance of offering Kumkum is the wishes of the house holder that the visitor may be blessed with Prosperity.

    Thamboola has three elements.

Coconut signifies the Blessings of the Trimurthis, Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra, represented as the three marks in the Coconut.

The areca nut iss attributed to Brahma, the Tambool (betel) leaf to Vishnu and lime to Mahesh.i

Lime is offered along with these in Hindu marriages after Food.

At the practical level, this mixture, when taken after food is good for digestion.

    The Legend of Thamboola.

Mohini distributed Amrut (ambrosia) amongst various gods. The urn with the remaining of the Amrut was kept near Indra’s elephant « Nagraja ». Growing inside the urn was a strange creeping plant and the gods became ecstatic. Vishnu ordered Dhanvantari to examine the plant. He thus discovered its stimulating quality. From then on, Vishnu began to offer its leaves, as a gesture of love and affection. Since, it is said , that the betel trine was born. It began to be associated with the Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh Trinity. The areca nut was attributed to Brahma, the Tambool (betel) leaf to Vishnu and lime to Mahesh.

According to another legend, after the Pandavas’ victory at Hastinapur, they began to have a fervent desire for Tambool. A messenger was urgently sent to the underground abode of the Queen of the snakes. The Queen, only too happy to oblige, cut the extreme phalange of her little finger and sent it to the Pandavas. The phalange was planted with great ceremony and soon the Betel plant grew out of the phalange. The creeper is since then referred to as « Nagveli » the snake plant. The ceremony of the leaves commemorates this origin and the Barais offer prayers to the God of snakes on the occasion.

    Another version.

Once all dev gans (Devtas, Gods) assembled on Earth at a place called ‘Naumi Sharayan’ to perform some auspicious ceremony, and while they were approaching back to ‘Bakunthya Dham’ (Heaven) they all started feeling thirsty due to extreme heat on earth when a particular community came forward and quenched their thirst by serving them Beatle leaves .Impressed by their hospitality, the Devtas not only blessed them but also honoured them by gifting the title chaturashiitah i.e. ‘CHAURASIA’ . According to the Baudhâyanas’rauta-sûtra CHAURASIA’s belong to Kashyapa, Some believe that they belong to [Bharadvâja],So there are many beliefs about Gotras .

In recent days people of this community are employed in a variety of occupations (some also refers themselves as ‘Vaishya’ i.e. traders, since becoming followers of Vallabhacharya ji, adopting Vaishanavism nearly 300 years ago.) and their religious traditions and culture are becoming less of a factor in daily life.

    Details of Chaurasia Brahmins follows.
