Father Speaks:.

Father of Delhi gang rape Victim.
Heartbreak: Badri Singh, father of the woman who was gang-raped and murdered in India, has said that he had been hopeful that his daughter would make a full recovery from her horrific injuries

‘Speaking to ITV1’s Daybreak, Mr Singh said: ‘When we went to Singapore she was not conscious but she had tears in her eyes. Then I realised she was in a really bad state.

‘I couldn’t think what to do at that time, I was like a bird without wings, I was neither here nor there.

‘So when I thought she might get better, I used to get filled with some hope. When I was told that she might not get well and might have to have an operation I felt uncomfortable.

‘It was difficult for me, but when she was put on a ventilator it gave me some hope that she would get better. I thought she might get better and she would live.’

Mr Singh said that his daughter’s death 13 days after the horrific attack has ‘brought an awakening’ to Indian society and called for his country to no longer turn a blind eye to attacks on women.

He added that he would like to see a new law or a hospital named after his daughter.

Describing his daughter, Mr Singh said: ‘When she was born my aunties and uncles always used to carry her around, those were really lovely days.

‘Right from the start her ambition was to be a doctor. Her main aim was that our family wouldn’t have to suffer any more, she wanted to put the difficult life behind us, wipe out our poverty.

‘She also wanted to make sure I didn’t have to keep working hard late in life.’

………Mr Sharma said that he would contest Indian police‘s handling of evidence after prosecutors claimed to have forensic evidence which links the men to the attack.

A 17-year-old who is also accused of the woman’s rape and murder will appear at a youth court separately.

Meanwhile, the victim’s companion on the night of the attack, 28-year-old software engineer Awindra Pandey, has spoken out about the terrible ordeal and his friend’s horrific injuries.

He told The Times that his efforts to flag down help from passing motorists after the pair had been dumped in the road were ignored for 20 minutes.

Mr Pandey said that police were reluctant to help his friend despite her injuries.

‘She was asking for water and complaining of pain in her stomach,’ he said.

‘She was bleeding heavily. They (the police) asked me to put her in the van.’

He said that the pair, who were not dating, had been to a cinema in the city to see Life of Pi but were unable to persuade a rickshaw driver to take them all the way back to the Dwarka suburb where the woman lived with her parents.

They were dropped halfway home, when a phone call from her mother asking her to hurry home prompted them to board an illegal bus with blacked out windows.

Mr Pandey confronted other passengers when they began insulting the pair but they soon produced iron rods, he said.

He said that he was beaten and fell to the floor of the bus.

First hand account of the incident.

  1. I can only say,Shame on people , Shame on people mentality of indian people, beside the criminals,The public is equally responsible for the death of the girl.A totally rotten system have made people most uncivilzed. Its a result of corrupt ruling.

  2. State of women in our country is not just unfortunate and saddening but also ironical…
So many male devoltees offer chunaris to the ever powerful Deviji yet wish to remove it from women, welcome Deviji to home during navratras yet mourn birth of a daughter,
praise Deviji in hymns and prayers yet use women as slaves and still bad mouth them!!!
    Pitifully disgusting and despicable!!

  3. This is very rare crime the victims are issued death sentence and should he hanged soon. I wish ms Jyothi and her friend had taken metro from select citywalk malviya nagar to rajiv chowk and from rajiv chowk to dwarka through blue line. Also if there was transport problems I personally feel they should not have gone to watch movie so far from home late at night. I really feel sorry for Jyothi and i wish the minor also was hanged to death as he was the one who called them to board the bus

    1. You are absolutely right.
When I posted a post on the importance of girls not going out alone that too at nights, I was abused by women’s group calling me a Chauvinist and that the society must ensure the security of women.
That they apologized latter is a different matter.
Women must ensure that they are safe.
They must ensure that they take precautions.
Freedom for women Talk won’t bring back the dead..
Happy that a woman understands and shares the view.

      1. I am not against women going out but I just want to ensure them to avoid going to place where there are transport problems and the victim here was not alone she was with someone from my experience of 38 years I only can say crime cannot be avoided but it can definitely be prevented by being alert throughput. Womens have to go out for work reasons also they cannot be confined at home but still going out for watching movies to places where there can be transport problems should be avoided. If the girl and her friend had gone to nearby outlets may be this crime would not have happened.Or if they had taken metro to dwarka instead of taking private bus from munirka the crime would have stopped as even I had gone to malviya nagar for interview through metro route

ya right people should take precautions themselves. The boy was hit on the head by iron rod anything could have happened to him also and the girl is no more where as the rapists are still “Sarkari Mehmaan” I dont know when they will be hanged its already nine months. If they had taken precaution to venture out during the afternoon at far away mall or had they gone to malls in dwarka they would have been safe. Precaution is always better than cure. Hanging the rapist will not bring the girl back.

I just want Jyoti Singh Pandey, my sister, to know that there are still a many good people in our country who will always live for her and pray for her and fight this menace of evil against women. I wish to speak to her parents and tell them, that their daughter is a soldier and wil be always remembered and loved by us. On a personal note, I wil always speak to her spirit and prove to her that my life has started a new road where the aim would only be PROTECTION OF WOMANKIND
