CHENNAI: A day after Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy named him a co-accused in the 2G spectrum scam, DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Sunday sent him a legal notice demanding that he immediately retract his statement.
Terming Swamy’s remarks as motivated by personal malice, political rivalry and clamour for cheap publicity, Karunanidhi categorically stated that he has no involvement whatsoever to the alleged 2G spectrum case.
Saying that Swamy’s attempt to involve his name is motivated, Karunanidhi demanded that the statement be retracted in 24 hours, failing which legal action would be taken against him for defamation.
On Saturday, Swamy named Karunanidhi as a co-accused along with former communications minister A. Raja in the 2G spectrum scam in his complaint to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in New Delhi.
