  • How To Find Siddha Amirtha Marana Yoga

Hindus, in determining auspicious time, take into account, apart from Day,Stars,Thithis(waxing and waning of the Moon),Yoga Karana.

These five, Day, Star, Thithi,Yoga( not the Yoga of Patanjali, here Yoga indicates auspicious/conducive period) and Karana form the basis of Hindu Almanac, called Panchanga(Five limbs).

    Kolam/Rangoli .jpg
    Kolam/Rangoli indicate auspiciousness

Apart from the inauspicious time of each day,Rahu Kalam and Yama Kanda(some do not take Yama Kanda  as inauspicious as this time being inauspicious for Yama the God of death, and by reverse Logic is auspicious for the Living)

Not much is known about Yogas, Siddha ,Amirth and Marana.

It would help one to read about Time calculation of the Hindus,

Please check my posts on How to find an auspicious day and Time, Hindus Calculation.

One can cross check the Yoga daily by understanding what it is about.

    EIGHT DAYTIME PERIODS—THE KALAS

The period between sunrise and sunset each day is divided into eight pe- riods. Each period, or kala, lasts approximately one and one-half hours, depending on the total duration of sunlight. Three of the eight kalas are considered most im- portant—Rahu Kala, Yama Kala and Gulika Kala—known collectively as the trini samayam. Rahu Kala is considered malefic for commencing new undertakings. Yama is also an interfering current, but is less influential than Rahu. Yama Kala is considered an auspicious time for antyesti (funeral) rites. Gulika is the most auspi- cious time of the day for commencing new activities.

Each kala occurs at approximately the same time on each particular day of the week. Thus, Gulika Kala occurs at approximately 7AM every Friday. If you’ve ever wondered why Monday mornings are so infamous, note that Rahu Kala is generally between 7:30 and 9AM every Monday. The trini samayam are listed at the top of column three for each day.

    Yogas are Twenty Seven.

ROUTINE OR CREATIVE WORK DAYS—AMRITADI YOGAS

The resultant of the waves propagated by the planets and the stars on the human psyche are indicated in four degrees. In the Vedic Calendar, this esoteric yoga is listed in bold type in the left column of each day’s designations.

AMRITA YOGA—CREATIVE WORK: Very good for creative types of work and auspicious undertakings.

SIDDHA YOGA—CREATIVE WORK: Good for creative types of work and auspicious undertakings.

MARANA YOGA—ROUTINE WORK: Should be avoided for new under- takings and beginning travel. Routine work only.

PRABALARSHTA YOGA—ROUTINE WORK: Should be absolutely avoided for new undertakings and beginning travel. Routine work only.

    Time The Hindu Way.

A Kalpa is 12 hours of Brahma. 2 kalpas make a day and a night of Brahma.

He lives for 100 years on this time scale.
How many Mahayugas or Chaturyugas( Four) are there in a Kalpa?
There are 1000 or 1008, Mahayugas in a Kalpa Mahayugas in a Kalpa.

84 Chaturyugas is an hour of Brahma.

There are 14 Manvantaras in a Kalpa.

  • Zero Day Aryabhatta Julian Calendars

The essential difference between the Hindu Calendar and the Julian Calendar is that the Julian Calendar takes Time as Linear, forward Flowing, while Hinduism states that Time is Circular.

    Time calulation Hinduism
    Hindu Measurement of Time

The reason for this situation is the assumption that Time is Linear.

    West thinks Time is Linear.

Time flows in one direction that is forward.
    What if Time is Cyclic?

That is, it flows around and depending on where you are.

Time moves both forwards and backwards .

Time is a stream; so is Space. Per se they are Absolute.

They are Relative to the observer.

To put it in simpler words ,things exist in Space and Time at all times irrespective of your positioning and what we say to day has happened ,is right now happening at another level for an observer positioned to observe it

    .

For them, our Universe is Past.

Similarly for another observer, what we see as future, may be Present.

    Indian Concept of Time.

Hinduism advocates Cyclic Theory of Time.

    …..

    TIME- Calculation in Hindu Philosophy.

    3.2 seconds- 1 Kaashtai.

30 Kaashtais or 1.6 minutes or 96 seconds -1 Kalai

    30 kalais or 48 minutes – 1 Muhurtham

30 Muhurthams or 1440 minutes one day.24 hrs of western time)

    15 Days -one Paksha

    2 Paksas – one Month

    6 Months -one Ayanam

    2 Ayanams -one Year)

There are Four AEONS (yugas).-In terms of Man-Years.

    I. Kali Yugam 4, 32,000 years.

    II. Dwapara Yuga 8, 64,000years. (Kali x 2)

    III. Tretha Yuga 12, 96,000 years. (Kali x 3)

    IV. Krita Yuga 17, 28,000 years. (Kali x 4)

    V. Total 43, 32,000 years

For Devas, in the next plane of existence, one year by human calculation is one day.

    Time Non Linear.

For details on this see under Time,Astrophysics

Aryabhatta was the ancient Astronomer and mathematician of India.

He was the first astronomer of the world

He used the as Zero Day the beginning of Maha Yuga of Hinduism.

But as the number of years were innumerable, the beginning of Kaliyuga was taken as  the starting Day by the later Astronomers of India,(from the midnight of 17-18 February 3102 BCE (BC)

    This was called Ahargana.

Julian Day Number was started by a French Scholar Joseph Scaliger in CE (AD) 1582.

Julian Calendar uses  Greenwhich mean noon of 1st January, 4713 BCE (BC).

  • Lord Rama’s Death Precedes Krishna’s By 200 Years!

Interesting observation ,I found, in ancient voice.

    Yugas of Hindus.
    The concept of Time, Yugas

All of us know that the Ramayana took place in Treta Yuga while Lord Krishna lived in the Dwapara Yuga, which was after 8.64,000 years after Treta Yuga .

Yet cross indexing the various Purans and the Astrological data supported by actual Astronomical phenomena like Rama‘s Birth chart,Eclipses during Ramayana and Mahabharata  forces one to the conclusion that Lord Rama’s Death preceded Lord Krishna’s  only by 200 years.

    Time, Hinduism's Concept.
    Time Scale, Hinduism

This, I think, is not a contradiction .

The reason is that for the Hindus the Time is Cyclic , not linear.(read my post on this under Astrophysics)

That Time is Cyclic is being proved to-day by Astrophysics and Quantum Theory.(refer my posts under Astrophysics).

To put it simply events, Ramayana and Mahabharata not excluded happened , happen and will happen all at the same time, albeit at different planes of existence(read my posts under Science, Astrophysics,Hinduism- Multiverses).

Science is veering down to this view now.

And Astronomical events keep recurring at fixed time scales.

Therefore, this seeming contradiction in the Dates of Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Check out at the Link provided.

    1. Interestingly enough, the death of Rama precedes the death of Krishna by 200 years, if we consider that Rama died at the age of 70 and Krishna at the age of 80. Not a normal age of death, if we consider that many ancient men like Bhishma (lived close to 95 to 105 years) and Vyasa (lived around 120 years) were long lived. This 200 years is also the duration of the Dwapara Yuga.
    2. Arjuna‘s grandfather’s grandfather viz. Pratipa was 20 years old when Rama died.
    3. Nala lived in Kali Yuga and was a contemporary of Arjuna‘s grandson’s great-grandson Aswamedhadatta.
    4. Kalmashapada (Saudasa) was a contemporary of Rama’s sons Lava and Kusha.
    5. Anaranya was a contemporary of Rama’s grandfather Aja
    6. Hiranya Kasipu and the first Indra were contemporaries.
    7. Prahlada and Vaivaswata Manu were contemporaries.
    8. Pururavas and the great Daitya king Mahabali were contemporaries.
    9. Vitahavya and Divodasa of the Ikshwaku line and Bharata of Puru line were contemporaries. They ruled along with Avikshit whose birth marks the beginning of Treta Yuga.
    10. Pratarddana of Ikshwaku line and Bhumanyu of Bharata line were contemporaries
    11. Sagara of Ikshwaku line and Suhotra of Bharata line were contemporaries
    12. Dilipa of Ikshwaku line and Hasti of Bharata’s line who founded the city of Hastinapura were contemporaries
    13. Ikshwaku king Raghu and Bhagiratha were contemporaries.
    14. Tapati, the wife of Samvarana (of Bharata line) probably married the daughter of an Ikshwaku king (described as Surya) in the south who was a contemporary of Raghu ruling at Ayodhya. Samvarana’s son was the famous Kuru the founder of Kuru dynasty.
    15. The Ikshwaku kings Aja and Muchukunda were contemporaries
    16. King Kuru who established his rule at Kurukshetra was a contemporary of Rama’s grandfather Aja
    17. The Kurukshetra war hero Vrihadvala and his father Suvala, brother Sakuni and sister Gandhari were all descendants of Rama’s brother Bharata.
    18. Rituparna, the friend of Nala was a descendant of Rama or his brothers
    19. Nala (and his brother Pushkara) was a descendant of Krishna
    20. Kali was a descendant of Sakuni
    21. Karkotaka the enemy-turned-friend of Nala was a descendant of Takshaka who killed Arjuna’s grandson Parikshit
    22. Vaisampayana narrated ‘Bharata’ to Janamejaya 75 years after Sanjaya narrated ‘Jaya’ to Dhritarashtra.
    23. Ugrasrava Sauti narrated Mahabharata to Saunaka, 55 years after Vaisampayana narrated ‘Bharata’ to Janamejaya
    24. The crucial formative period of Mahabharata was thus 130 years. It grew even after that with additions to Santi Parva, Anusasana Parva and Vana Parva and also with minor modifications and additions to other Parvas as well.
    25. The same Valmiki, who was an elder contemporary of Rama authored the first two versions of Ramayana. The first version was completed soon after Rama returned to Ayodhya after killing Ravana. The second version was created after Sita was banished from Ayodhya and reached Valmiki’s hermitage. The third version was created after the death of Rama, probably by some descendant of the original Valmiki. Ramayana underwent several modifications which continued even after Mahabharata grew into Sauti-Saunaka dialog.

  • Find Auspicious Day Rahu Kala Time Horai Calculator.

Indian Astronomy and Astrology are so interwoven that it is difficult to say where the one ends and the other begins.

    Rahu Kala, Kuliga,Yamaganda
Rahu Kala, Kuliga,Yamaganda,Directions to avoid and parihara for deviations from this.( in the order left to right)

Normally, the Rahu Kala and Yama Kanda are avoided.

For any auspicious occasion it is customary to fix a Horai, time an auspicious function is to be performed.

The calculation of auspicious time depends on Day -7, Nakshatra(Star)-27), Tithi-15 (waxing and waning of the Moon), Yoga(27)and Karana(11).

These Five factors constitute the Panchanga-Five Limbs of Astrological Caculations.

    Horai.

“It is common to all irrespective of their race, religion and color as our supreme guru “Surya Bhagavan” who is common to all the human beings in the world.

For selection of auspicious timings for important events like marriage, purchase of new vehicle or land and for investment purposes etc., it is important that you consult your family astrologer – as it varies for individuals based on their individual Birth star, Birth horoscope and Geo factors like latitude and longitude for the particular place.

    For example
Subha Horai for a day is different for a particular day and varies from place to place. Subha Horai for Chennai will not suit for a person in Singapore or to a person in New York.

The data will be available with your family astrologers and an individual can contact for the auspicious time. However, you can always depend on the Subha Horai’s to start a new thing on a given day or to do something good or auspicious.

    Horai:

There are 7 Grahas (Suriyan, Chandran, Kuja (Sevvai), Budhan, Guru, Sukra, and Sani. There are 7 Horais are named after these Grahas. Each Horai will last for one hour. These 7 Horais will occur daily on a cyclic basis, one Horai for one hour.

The order in which the Horais occur is à Suriyan, Sukra, Budh, Chandran, Sani, Guru, Kuja.

On a Sunday, for example, Suriya Horai will occur first at the sunrise. It will last for one hour. Then Sukra Horai will follow for one hour. And so on.

On a Monday, the first Horai at sunrise will be Chandra Horai (the weekday’s graham); Sani Horai, then Guru, Kuja— as per the order above, will follow it.

That is, the first Horai of the day will be the weekday’s own graham and then the order follows. On a Wednesday, the Horais will be Budh , Chandran, Sani , Guru , Kuja , Suriya, Sukran. After 7 hours this order will repeat.

Of the 7 Grahas – Chandran, Budh, Guru, Sukra are considered to be good Grahas (benevolent and auspicious); their Horais are considered good and auspicious.

Surya, Sevvai (Kuja), Sani are considered bad and inauspicious Grahas (malefic) – their Horais also are bad. Avoid these periods for any auspicious events.

Sat Shani (Saturn) Guru* (Jupiter) Mangala (Mars) Surya (Sun) Shukra* (Venus) Budha* (Mercury)

    * Longitude and Latitude of the place is to be taken into account.

The basic idea is simple. Each day is divided into hours, beginning at sunrise. If sunrise is at 7:13 AM, for example, the first hour of the day is from 7:13 – 8:13 AM. The Second hour is from 8:13 – 9:13 AM, etc. Each hour carries the energy of one of the planets. The order in which this occurs is as follows: The first planet for each day will be the ruler of the day. Sunday – Sun, Monday – Moon, Tuesday – Mars, Wednesday – Mercury, Thursday – Jupiter, Friday – Venus, Saturday – Saturn.

In calculating the planetary hours for Sunday, for example, first you look up the time of Sunrise in the newspaper. Then you designate the first hour to the Sun, the ruler of Sundays. The rest of the hours follow a set sequence – Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars.

In another example, if the day is Wednesday, then the first hour ruler is Mercury, the Second is the Moon and so on. When you reach the end of the sequence, start over with the Sun. In this way, it is simple to make a hora table for any day.(source:divine brahmananda.com)
