n the aftermath of the screening of the Killing Fields on Wednesday 14 March millions across the world will be stunned and horrified by the images of the bloody massacre of Tamil people in Sri Lanka. Most will draw the conclusion that what took place is nothing short of genocide. And, once the shock fades, every viewer will ask: what can be done now?
I am posting excerpts with my comments.
Th first assumption they make that Buddhism is inherent to Sri Lanka.
That implies that there were no living beings in Sr Lanka till then, which is not a fact.
In the same article it says Sri Lanka has been invaded from 2 BC.
True, equally true is that the original SriLanka dynasty, according to MahaVamsa, of Sri Lanka was established by the offspring of Kalinga Prince.(Orissa)
So Sri Lanka owes its existence to India and by the same logic, a part of India!

When The Tamils were being killed by Sri Lanka and after, despite, International communities to talk to the Tamils, Si Lanka refused to do so.
True India raised the issue at International Forum.
So are the other Nations,US,Canada, Australia.

It was a fact that the Peace Accord was imposed over Sri Lankan government under duress. Neither Parliament nor the people of this country demanded such an Accord. The LTTE also rejected the Peace Accord. Sri Lankan President J.R.J was compelled to accept and sign it due to intimidation caused and duress imposed by sending Indian Air Force Jets over Sri Lankan airspace. It was imposed so hastily, neither Parliament nor the general public of Sri Lanka were given an opportunity to raise their views on it. Obligations to be fulfilled on the part of the Indian government and the LTTE as set out in the Accord were never honoured.
There was a provision in the Accord that the LTTE should surrender arms kept in their possession within 72 hours after signing the Accord and all parties should cease hostilities within 48 hours. Sri Lankan Forces were ordered to be confirmed to the barracks. Moreover the Indian government has ensured that Peace will be definitely restored in Sri Lanka.
Those obligations were never honoured. Instead, the LTTE was continued to strengthen its armoury and intensified attacks immediately after the Accord against Sri Lankan Forces who were in contrast ordered to be confined to barracks. The IPKF which was brought in to combat had become a total failure. As a result, the Indian government was compelled to withdraw the IPKF and abandon the Peace Accord unilaterally. Accordingly, the Peace Accord become an Accord non-existent. So that how can they say repealing the 13A would cause a violation of the Peace Accord which is non-existent.
The next component of the Peace Package is the 13th Amendment to the Constitution imposed over Sri Lanka so hastily. This is also a unilateral proposal which was formulated and drafted without consulting the Sri Lankan government by Indian government ex-parte. Provincial Council Act No. 42 of 1987 is the outcome of 13th Amendment.’
Sri Lanka did not approve the Accord.
In the same breath, there is a complaint that the LTTE did not fulfill the terms of the accord!
Sri Lanka seems to deny any agreement by saying that it does not have the backing of the people.
What do you have there?
Government or some wayward signing papers which mean nothing?
If so, why did Sri Lanka accept aid from foreign Governments signed by the same Government?
The comments on 13th Amendment are laughable.
Finally if The Tamils are the citizens of Sri Lanka, why massacre them in lakhs?
Not to forget the fact that the LTTE was wiped out by the help in intelligence and hardware by India.
In a rare, which has become not so rare with Karunandihi, the self-styled Saviour and Leader of the Tamils, who went on a Fast to end the Sri Lankan war, between Breakfast and Lunch suggested to the Central Government of India to send the Sri Lankan Tamils!
Though the suggestion came in the wake of the arrest of the Sri Lankan Refugees attempting to Flee to Australia,this is a shocker.
He can armtwist the central Government into giving Cabinet berths to his daughter, grand-nephew, could beg and cajole the Congress at the Center to vote for his daughter , Kanimozhi, who was jailed for 2 G Scam to gain an entry into the Rajya Sabha, despite his having broken the DMK‘s alliance with the Congress,
So much for his concern for the Tamils!

Though Karunanidhi’s statement is stupid there is no denying the fact that the Government of India is totally ignoring the Tamils of Sri Lanka under the Phantom of China.
I have recently read that Srilanka has signd a Treaty with China to fish near India, the Sri Lankan vessels would fly China’s Flag along with the Sri Lankan Flag to fish in . ostensibly, Sri Lankan waters off the Coast of Tamil Nadu!
The appeasement policy of the Government of India is akin to toe appeasement of Hitler by England during the early stages of the First World War.
Time India takes action to ward off Tamil Separatism, which would be justified if the present trend continues.

Then again, Karunanidhi being Karunanidhi, the poor man obviously cannot keep away from the theme that appeals to Indian politicians, and helps many of them to steal the limelight and hoodwink the illiterate and uninformed Tamil Nadu voters. He laments Sri Lanka’s poor track record of “reneging on earlier commitments” and adds, “it remains to be seen whether the country will fulfil its promises made to National Security Adviser (of India)!”.
Sri Lanka is under no obligation whatsoever to promise anything to India, represented by its foreign ministry or the security apparatus high ups. In the same tone, dumping in the garbage any such promises that had been made, for whatever reason, too, is Sri Lanka’s pristine prerogative, as the island nation is not a vassal state of India or one of the states or union territories that comprises the behemoth that goes today as India.
Rather than worrying about implementing whatever promises, agreements, accords or pacts between Sri Lanka and India, what Sri Lanka should do is to demand compensation through the International Court of Justice for the damage India has inflicted upon it. India turned a rag tag bunch of street thugs originating from Velvetithurai and other regions of Northern Sri Lanka to a powerful and ruthless and killing machine that was ready to take on the armed forces of sovereign Sri Lanka head on. It is only after the Sri Lanka-based LTTE killers were annihilated in May 2009 – the terrorists would have been vanquished in 1987, if not for India poking its dirty finger – that Sri Lankans have started enjoying the peace that had been hijacked by LTTE.”
Congress MP from Cuddalore said in a Public meeting that the Video depicting the murder of Balachandran Prabhakaran, son of late Chief of LTTE Prabhakaran, was a fake and was doctored by LTTE.
Congress seems to have MPs who depict Congress’s feelings on the Tamil Issue.
Couple of days earlier Salman Khurshid , Central Minister declared that Sri Lanka does not support the Sri Lanka Tamils or approve of the Resolution of The Tamil Nadu Assembly calling for a Referendum in Sri Lanka on Tamils’ issue.
These statements, these politicians are not aware, are gleefully grabbed by the Sri Lankan Media .

Balachandran Prabhakaran

Cuddalore MP K S Azhagiri raised doubts over Prabhakaran’s son Balachandran’s death and claimed that there was no video evidence on the killing by the Sri Lankan armed forces.
The Congress MP made the statement while addressing a public meeting arranged by the youth Congress at Cuddalore Old Town on Sunday night.
“Some parties were playing politics by taking up the issue of 12-year-old Balachandran’s death. However, there was no video evidence available on how Balachandran was killed. It was a practice among the terrorists that in order to avoid being caught by the enemy they either consume cyanide or shoot each other. It was an unlawful act to kill a child,” he said.
On the ongoing Sri Lankan issue, he said that the Sri Lankan Tamils and the LTTE objectives were completely different.
He said, “Independent Tamil Eelam is the demand of the LTTE alone, but that not of the Sri Lankan Tamils. Elected Tamil leaders in Sri Lanka are not asking for an independent Eelam.
Only the LTTE and its supporters in Tamil Nadu are repeatedly raising this demand.”
Explaining the Congress’ move to pass a resolution in Parliament on the Sri Lankan issue, he said, “When an all-party meeting was held in New Delhi to discuss the draft resolution, no other national or regional parties except the AIADMK, the DMK and the Congress supported the resolution.”
“The CPI in Tamil Nadu had been demanding that an anti-Lanka resolution be passed in Parliament, but the party’s MP Gurudas Dasgupta categorically opposed the move during the all-party meeting. This shows the gravity of matter at the all-India level,” he added.
“Political parties in Tamil Nadu had failed to garner the support of those at the national level on the Lankan issue. Instead, they were blaming Congress party in this matter,” the Congress MP added. (New Indian Express)
Amidst reports of widespread sexual violence by the Sri Lankan army on suspected LTTE rebels, the Human Right Watch (HRW) has sought an international investigation.
The investigation demands came after a report, ” ‘We will teach you a lesson’: Sexual violence against Tamils by Sri Lankan Security Forces“.
The report is said to have contained a list of 75 cases of rape and sexual assault. These incidents happened all across Sri Lanka, from 2006 to 2012.
The majority of the cases are said to have happened during the armed conflict (with LTTE) that ended in may 2009.
The conflict ended almost three years ago, but the incidents of sexual violence continues till this day, the report quoted.
The revelations were confirmed by HRW Asia Director Brad Adams.
“The Sri Lankan security forces have committed untold numbers of rapes of Tamil men and women in custody. These are not just wartime atrocities but continue to the present, putting every Tamil man/woman arrested for suspected LTTE involvement at serious risk”, he was quoted in a news report published in national daily the Hindu.
