Those who submit to REDDIT under Atheism seem to think that there are no intelligent beings on the Earth barring them.

I had blogged how Reddit ridicules Religion through the mouth of Child.

I have received a comment stating that in the US/Europe, there is paucity of Culture and people whom one can to on Religion and hence the intemperate submissions.The people seem to be yearning for Truth and there is none over there to guide them!

“Facebook’s U.S. user numbers dwindled in May from April and March, according to data compiled by research firm comScore, in the latest sign that growth may be leveling off at the No. 1 social network.

Last month, Facebook attracted 158.01 million unique visitors in the United States, edging lower from 158.69 million in April and 158.93 million in March, comScore said.

Keeping users coming back — or combating fatigue — is crucial for all social media services, analysts say. Facebook is consistently trotting our new features, including the “Timeline” interface rolled out this year, and more are expected with the deal to acquire popular photo-sharing app Instagram.

ComScore has changed how it counts users, making year-ago comparisons harder. Under its old methods, comScore previously said Facebook had 157.22 million visitors in May 2011, which would make Wednesday’s data a year-on-year increase of just 0.5 percent.

The changes comScore made generally reduce user numbers, so in an apples-to-apples comparison, user growth would look slightly bigger, a comsScore spokesman said.

Users spent an average of 380.8 minutes, or more than six hours, on the site in May this year, up slightly from 378.9 minutes in April.

In April last year, as measured under comScore’s old techniques, users spent 374.9 minutes on the site.

Facebook was heavily criticized for the handling of its initial public offering in May, and critics have also questioned the efficacy of its ads.

One oft-cited reason for buying Facebook stock was the company’s rapid growth.

The company’s shares debuted at $38, but dipped well into the $20s before recovering some ground in recent weeks. On Wednesday shares closed at $31.60, down about 1 percent.

About two out of five people polled by Reuters and Ipsos Public Affairs said they used Facebook every day. Nearly half of the Facebook users polled spent about the same amount of time on the social network as six months ago.

It is always easy and less embarrassing to settle scores through a medium.

In the case of through a human being, it is likely to have wings, not in Social networks.

And, you do not get the retort face to face!

Some times you enjoy the retort as well.

So long as one avoids profanity, it is fine.

Giving vent to feelings is a great Stress buster.

Take Revenge in Twitter,Facebook.

The rise in popularity of Twitter and Facebook has made it easier and quicker to settle scores and seven in 10 (69%) people polled said online tools are responsible for people’s thirst for payback.

More than half (52%) said they were currently thinking about getting their own back on someone while almost four in 10 (38%) confessed they had already sought revenge out of anger, jealousy or spite.

Work colleagues are the most popular target, followed by friends and bosses.

Adultery is the transgression most deserving of revenge according to a third of Brits, followed by lying (19%) and stealing (9%).

Research also found that more than one in 10 (13%) believe people in the public eye deserve abuse on social networks if they are perceived to have done something wrong.

Half of the 2,000 people polled to mark the launch of Hell on Wheels, a new Western TV series from TCM charting the vengeful exploits of a band of outcasts in post-civil war America, said they believed most revenge now takes place on Facebook.

The ease of typing a quick message over confronting someone face to face was seen to be the primary reason, with 57% saying it was easier to take revenge online than in person.

Professor Frank Webster, head of sociology at City University in London, said: “While certainly alarming, these findings are by no means surprising.

“We have long known that there’s a lot of anger bottled up inside people. Exasperated with workmates, frustrated by politicians, infuriated by bankers, envious of shallow celebrities… we all have moments when the blood boils.”

He added: “Getting back at those who’ve crossed us and wreaking revenge is so much easier and instantaneous when it involves a Twitter jibe or a Facebook slur.

“We can even do it anonymously, with little fear of consequences. If, as this survey suggests, online technologies are making revenge more acceptable nowadays, then the consequences of an increasingly networked world may be chilling.

“Do we want to live in a society where immediate insult, personal ridicule and hate speech finds ready expression and even approval?”

Mother’s Unique Punishment For Posting in Facebook
Having found out that her daughter posted Alcohol related photographs in Facebook, a Mother devised a novel, yet effective way to punish her through the same Social Network.

“After author ReShonda Tate Billingsley found her daughter posting alcohol-related photos to the social network, she came up with a very original, and no doubt effective, form of punishment.

Following up the post her mother deemed inappropriate is a new photo that features the young girl holding a hand-written sign that reads, “Since I want to post photos of me holding liquor I am obviously not ready for social media and will be taking a hiatus until I learn what I should + should not post. BYE-BYE.”

Rough.

But Billingsley isn’t alone in her parenting style.

Denise Abbott, a mother from Ohio, used the same method to punish her 13-year-old daughter Ava after she found her posting “disrespectful things” on Facebook.

“I do not know how to keep my [mouth shut]. I am no longer allowed on Facebook or my phone. Please ask why,” the text on the 13-year-old girl’s Facebook photo read.

Despite the embarrassment, Abbot told NBC she doesn’t regret her disciplinary action, saying she needed to find something that would “totally impact her.”

“You have to adapt your parenting skills with the times,” Abbott told NBC.

It could be worse, though. At least Billingsley and Abbot didn’t put a bullet through their child’s laptop and post the video on Facebook.

Friends are ‘unfriended’ in Facebook.
The study conducted by Pew internet reveals that more friends are being ‘deleted’ in Facebook, 63%., a belated recognition that they have befriended people whom they hardly knew.

This could be due to instances coming alight with the ‘friends’ being mostly stalkers and pose a threat.

Another reason could be that the flooding of unwanted messages cluttering the page.

The misuse of Facebook seems to have resulted in fewer people making available their Profile Public-20%.

Women tend to untag their photos at 67%.

There are certain things in life that aren’t meant to be shared,” the Oakland resident said. “If I want to ask about an apartment in New York, I don’t want 1,500 people knowing I’m traveling to New York.”

“Where do we as individuals draw the line?” Watanabe said. “It’s an interesting question and people are starting to ask themselves that.”

About 63 percent of social network users now say they have deleted people from their friends list, an increase from 56 percent in 2009, according to a report from the Pew Research Center of Washington.

Restricted sharing

Also, 58 percent of users set their main profiles to be seen only by a private group of friends or relatives, while 19 percent choose at least some level of privacy settings to control what certain friends can view, the center’s Internet & American Life Project found. Only 20 percent make their profiles completely public.

And the portion of people who have untagged themselves from photos on social-networking sites – predominantly Facebook, but also including Twitter and other services – rose to 37 percent, from 30 percent in 2009.

“Women tend to have stronger feelings regarding who has access to their personal information,” said Mary Madden, a Pew senior research specialist.

The report said 67 percent of women restrict access to friends only, compared with 48 percent of men, possibly because of concerns about online predators and other safety issues. Only 14 percent of women choose to make their profiles completely public, compared with 26 percent of men.

On the other hand, men are nearly twice as likely as women (15 to 8 percent) to regret something they posted on Facebook.

The Pew report, based on interviews with 2,277 adults from April 26 to May 22, 2011, was released coincidentally at the end of a week when online privacy became a major topic in tech”
