  • Hinduism Predictions. True? Kedarnath Floods

    Rudra,Vishnu and Brahma.
    Rudra,Vishnu and Brahma.

There is  a news item stating that the Bhavishya Purna predicted the onslaught of the Floods in Uttarakhand and the near destruction of Kedarnath Temple(the Temple ,remains more or less in tact though).

    This follows a set pattern.

    An event occus.

People come up and say that this has been predicted in the Kalki Purana, Bhavishya(means  Future) Purana,Vishnu Purana and the like.

The detractors say that if the references are there, people should have made it Public before the event and  not after it had taken place,

    Seems to be valid argument.

The problem is who would believe if such things were informed in advance..

Take the case of Pushpaka Vimana, a sort of Flying Chariot, used by Ravana  to abduct Sita.

Or the assertion in the Kalki Purana that children of around 9 to 10 years would conceive.

That men would live from the earnings of a woman.

Men would become closer to their wife’s parents and distance themselves away from their parents.

Merit would not be the criterion in the Society but Money.

Power would belong to the Rich.

Women would lust after men openly.

Men would look at even their daughter with  lecherous intent.

    Teachers would elope with students.

    Men would marry older women.

Children would not be born out of Intercourse.

Children would not be conceived and nurtured in the  womb.

Children would be born in a Vessel.

    Lamps would burn upside down.

Unseasonable floods, and change of Seasons would occur.

That the Dog Star days are accurately predicted when the Summer heat is at its fiercest.(Dog Star is Sirius).

That there are only Nine planets,Pluto and Neptune are Chaya Grahas,, not among the Planets.

Now Scientists say that Neptune/Plato can not really be called planets, after redefining what a Planet is.

There is a Mysterious energy which one can not perceive and it would drive the Universe.

That the Universe has no limitations, it expands and we can perceive what we can for we are limited.

There are particles that travel faster than Light.

Man will attempt to find the Ultimate Matter, would fail , find another fundamental Unit((CERN says exactly this on God Particle)

Very little will be revealed or known about the Gravitational Force and we will never comprehend it in full, which is the case even now.

Discoveries made earlier my Man will be reversed., theories will change.

    1.     Venus and Rain: Tamil literature and Sanskrit literature associate Venus with the rains. Astronomers and meteorologists will discover that Venus has a link with the rains in future. If Venus goes towards south, the world will have a drought (going south is an astrological jargon to denote appearing towards south). The Vedas and Tamil literature talk about twelve year long droughts. So the scientists will find out that the position of Venus has an impact on world’s weather.

We know that the sun has a big role in the growth of plants. We read plants make food by photosynthesis using sun light. But Sanskrit literature is very clear and loud in saying moon’s rays give energy to the plants. So biologists will find out soon the link between the moon and the plants. But Hindus never denied Sun’s role.

Sanskrit Navagraha Stotras (hymns on nine heavenly bodies) gives the relationship between the planets. Hindus have already found out that Jupiter is the largest and heaviest planet and named it GURU appropriately. Guru means leader, teacher and heavy in Sanskrit. Mars is called Red planet by Tamil and Sanskrit poets. Mars is already confirmed red by scientists. Mars is called Bhumi Puthra/ son of earth. Scientists also believe Mars may have water and life.

Saturn is called a black planet by Sangam Tamil poets and Sanskrit poets (Maim meen in Tamil and Neela in Sanskrit). Saturn will be confirmed black by scientists in future. It is also called chaya puthra (son of shadow as well as son of sun). Hindus said that Saturn has a son called Manthi. It corresponds to the ring (Mantle) around it.

Time is Cyclic and Not Linear.

In recent years physicists have had to address the interplay of consciousness and the physical world. In Quantum Physics much has been made over Bell’s Theorem. The implications of this theorem and the experimental findings that flow from it are staggering. They force us to consider that the entire notion of a purely objective world is in conflict not only with the theory of quantum mechanics, but with the facts drawn from actual experiments. These findings point insistently to a profound interaction between conscious mental activity and the physical world itself.

    The Rishi’s vision

The Rishi’s vision of a world in which man participates in a seamless existence, indivisibly united with the universe around him, resonates through a discovery called “BELL’S THEOREM”. This discovery, first proposed in 1964 by the physicist John S. Bell was first confirmed by experiment in 1972 by Professor John Clauser at Berkley. It is an almost unbelievable result – unbelievable because the logical mind has great difficulty in comprehending how it can be true. Its impact on the physics community has been enormous. Professor Henry Stapp, a physicist at Berkley and an authority on the implications of Bell’s Theorem, …

When predictions are made at a time when they look far-fetched , they are dismissed as Myths.

When it is said after the incident, it is ridiculed saying that it could have been said earlier.

I have quoted some predictions that has come true and some yet to be proved.

Please read the Puranas to find what is said.

The Puransa are vast and these subjects are not dealt with in a separate chapters, except in  some case; they are interspersed throughout the Puranas and the Atharva Veda.

To find more on the Occult, one may refer the Atharva Veda and the Book the Shakti and Shakta by Sir John Woodroffe.

  • Predictions from 5000 Years Ago-Some scary ,yet True!

I came across a news item where it was reported that predictions that were made 110 years ago are accurate.

    The story:

    Predictions for next hundred years
    Predictions.

Most future predictions from 100 years ago include flying cars for the daily commute to work, a robot servant for every family and full meals taken in the form of tiny pills. It’s not exactly the world we’re living in today. This surprising list, however – an article from The Ladies’ Home Journal in 1900 – gets a surprisingly large part of the last hundred years correct… right down to what has become the internet and fast food! Think about it: this was written before the first flight of the airplane or the invention of the radio and air conditioning!

Found recently by a redditor (who incorrectly labels the articles date as 1911-2011), the article was written by American civil engineer John Elfreth Watkins. This forward thinking fellow, who’s pretty conservative in his predictions compared to many of his contemporaries, gets about 15 out of his 25 predictions pretty close to accurate. He almost gets the US population correct at 350 million (about 50 million off), correctly says we’ll all be taller (we are, slightly) and predicted that we’d see around the world with cameras (google maps, youtube and uStream anyone?). He does miss the mark on a number of key points though: we still have wild animals, automobiles are not cheaper than horses and the letters C, X and Q are still in the alphabet (he might be on to a good idea with that one though)……….

Below, a transcription of the image:

“These prophecies will seem strange, almost impossible. Yet, they have come from the most learned and conservative minds in America. To the wisest and most careful men in our greatest institutions of science and learning I have gone, asking each in his turn to forecast for me what, in his opinion, will have been wrought in his own field of investigation before the dawn of 2001 – a century from now. These opinions I have carefully transcribed.”

Five Hundred Million People There will probably be from 350,000,000 to 500,000,000 people in America and its possessions by the lapse of another century. Nicaragua will ask for admission to our Union after the completion of the great canal. Mexico will be next. Europe, seeking more territory to the south of us, will cause many of the South and Central American republics to be voted into the Union by their own people.”

The American will be taller by from one to two inches. His increase of stature will result from better health, due to vast reforms in medicine, sanitation, food and athletics. He will live fifty years instead of thirty-five as at present – for he will reside in the suburbs. The city house will practically be no more. Building in blocks will be illegal. The trip from suburban home to office will require a few minutes only. A penny will pay the fare.”

There will be No C, X or Q in our every-day alphabet. They will be abandoned because unnecessary. Spelling by sound will have been adopted, first by the newspapers. English will be a language of condensed words expressing condensed ideas, and will be more extensively spoken than any other. Russian will rank second.”

Hot and Cold Air from Spigots. Hot or cold air will be turned on from spigots to regulate the temperature of a house as we now turn on hot or cold water from spigots to regulate the temperature of the bath. Central plants will supply this cool air and heat to city houses in the same way as now our gas or electricity is furnished. Rising early to build the furnace fire will be a task of the olden times. Homes will have no chimneys, because no smoke will be created within their walls.”

No Mosquitoes nor Flies. Insect screens will be unnecessary. Mosquitoes, house-flies and roaches will have been practically exterminated. Boards of health will have destroyed all mosquito haunts and breeding-grounds, drained all stagnant pools, filled in all swamp-lands, and chemically treated all still-water streams. The extermination of the horse and its stable will reduce the house-fly.”

Ready-cooked meals will be bought from establishments similar to our bakeries of today. They will purchase materials in tremendous wholesale quantities and sell the cooked foods at a price much lower than the cost of individual cooking. Food will be served hot or cold to private houses in pneumatic tubes or automobile wagons. The meal being over, the dishes used will be packed and returned to the cooking establishments where they will be washed. Such wholesale cookery will be done in electric laboratories rather than in kitchens. These laboratories will be equipped with electric stoves, and all sorts of electric devices, such as coffee-grinders, egg-beaters, stirrers, shakers, parers, meat-choppers, meat-saws, potato-mashers, lemon-squeezers, dish-washers, dish-dryers and the like. All such utensils will be washed in chemicals fatal to disease microbes. Having one’s own cook and purchasing one’s own food will be an extravagance.”

No Foods will be Exposed. Storekeepers who expose food to air breathed out by patrons or to the atmosphere of the busy streets will be arrested with those who sell stale or adulterated produce. Liquid-air refrigerators will keep great quantities of food fresh for long intervals.”

Coal will not be used for heating or cooking. It will be scarce, but not entirely exhausted. The earth’s hard coal will last until the year 2050 or 2100; its soft-coal mines until 2200 or 2300. Meanwhile both kinds of coal will have become more and more expensive. Man will have found electricity manufactured by waterpower to be much cheaper. Every river or creek with any suitable fall will be equipped with water-motors, turning dynamos, making electricity. Along the seacoast will be numerous reservoirs continually filled by waves and tides washing in. Out of these the water will be constantly falling over revolving wheels. All of our restless waters, fresh and salt, will thus be harnessed to do the work which Niagara is doing today: making electricity for heat, light and fuel.”

There Will Be No Street Cars in Our Large Cities. All hurry traffic will be below or high above ground when brought within city limits. In most cities it will be confined to broad subways or tunnels, well lighted and well ventilated, or to high trestles with “moving-sidewalk” stairways leading to the top. These underground or overhead streets will teem with capacious automobile passenger coaches and freight with cushioned wheels. Subways or trestles will be reserved for express trains. Cities, therefore, will be free from all noises.”

Photographs will be telegraphed from any distance. If there be a battle in China a hundred years hence snapshots of its most striking events will be published in the newspapers an hour later. Even to-day photographs are being telegraphed over short distances. Photographs will reproduce all of Nature’s colors.”

Old adage ,word of mouth popularizes ,is proved with the aid of technology.

This may also result in influencing the behavioral pattern of the individuals by enticing them to go with the herd.

Also the danger of media manipulating individual’s thinking is around the corner.( this is being done already in a comparatively on a smaller scale)

While it is fun to predict, life will lose its meaning when it becomes too predictable.

    Story:

Micro-blogging service Twitter can be used to predict the future box-office takings of blockbuster films, according to researchers at Hewlett Packard (HP).

The computer scientists studied 3 million messages – known as tweets – about 25 movies, including Avatar.

They found the rate at which messages were produced could be used to accurately predict the box office takings before the film opened.

Further analysis of the content of the messages could predict ongoing success.

“Our predictions were incredibly close,” Bernardo Huberman, head of the social computing lab at HP, told BBC News.

For example, he said, the system predicted that zombie film The Crazies would take $16.8m in its first weekend in the US. It actually took $16.06m.
