  • Roman Brahmin With Upaveeda, Bible Lost Veda

If people who read my post ‘Christians posing  as Brahmins, new method of Conversion’ are struck with the idea to be original, they are wrong.

Their predecessor, not only posed as a Brahmin from Rome, he also wore the sacred thread,Upaveeda.

    Roberto de Nobili.Image.jpg.
    Roberto de Nobili.

He had the Upaveeda sanctioned be a Pope!

He wore Sandal paste on his forehead, wooden sandals on his feet, had a Kudil(Asrama in Sanskrit)

He learnt Tamil and wrote Thembavani, a Tamil work on the Life of Christ.

He propagated that the Bible was the Lost Veda.

The gentleman, who is venerated b the ilks of frauds like Karunanidhi is none other than Robert De Nobili and his work on Jesus was a compulsory

portion from standard  Ten (4 Form as it was called when I studied, some 45  Years back, it was still there when my son studied some 15 Years back)

    Roman Brahmin!
The man who laid the foundation of inculturation was the Italian priest Robert de Nobili (1577-1656). He learnt Sanskrit and Tamil, wore saffron robes, sacred thread (attached with a small Cross!) and sandal mark on forehead and called himself a ‘Roman Brahmin’. He set up an “Ashram” in Madurai, became a vegetarian and used “Pathukas” (wooden footwear). He claimed the Bible was the “Lost Veda”, the “Jesuit Veda” revealed by God, and was considerably successful in harvesting souls. Fortunately for Tamil Nadu, his European masters were not happy with his inculturation methods and subjected him to an enquiry which forced him to shift to other places like Trichy and Salem. Finally he settled in a small house in Santhome, Madras, and died in 1656. ..

    talian Munivar!
The next Italian missionary, Constantine Joseph Beschi (1680-1746), called himself Veeramaamunivar (Veer-Maha-Munivar) to pretend he was a great lover of Tamil. Outwardly conducting himself like a Hindu Sanyasi, he took care of the conversion business in the districts of Madurai and Thanjavur. His work on a biography of St. Joseph, Thembaavani, was hyped as a great work and projected as equivalent to Kambar’s Ramayana!

Even now it is propagated that impressed with the beauty and richness of Kamba Ramayana, Beschi wanted to create a similar Christian work and hence came out with Thembaavani. It benefitted Christianity by establishing St. Joseph in Tamil Nadu. He then came out with another work, Paramartha Guruvum avarin Seedarkalum (Paramartha Guru and his Disciples), to ridicule our centuries old ‘Guru-Sishya Parampara.’ This “Munivar”, who denigrated our Guru-Sishya Parampara, was honoured by Dravidian racists who installed a statue of him on Marina Beach.4

    German Iyer!
In the same period, a German missionary Barthalomaus Ziegenbalg (1683-1719) also worked in Tamil Nadu and called himself Ziegenbalg Iyer. This Protestant priest landed in Tranquebar (Tharangampaadi) in 1706 and worked with a Danish company which was the first to bring German printing machines to Tamil Nadu. He printed the first Tamil Bible (New Testament). Even while indulging in conversions, he often quarrelled with the Danish authorities who put him in jail for some time. He was the first to stoke anti-Brahmanism by creating a hatred for Brahmins among other communities. As he fell sick often, he died at the age of 36 in 1719, leaving behind two Churches, a training institute for converted Indian priests, and 250 converts in Tranquebar. 5

    Italian Iyer
Next in the list of Christian Priests who “served” the cause of inculturation was another ‘Iyer’ – G.U. Pope (1820-1907) or ‘Pope Iyer.’ He translated a few Tamil literary works such as ThiruvaachakamThirukkural and Naaladiyaar, and said he could find the teachings of Apostle St. Paul and St. Francis of Assisi in Sri Maanickavaachakar’s Thiruvaachakam; innocent Tamil scholars felt elated at his ‘graciousness’.

Even some Tamil Saivite Mutts felt proud at G.U. Pope’s statement. Tamil scholar Muthukumaraswamy, who has in-depth knowledge on Saiva Siddhanta, demolishes this myth, citing Pope’s own statement, “In the whole legendary history of this sage … there stands out a real historical character, which seems to be a mixture of that of St. Paul and of St. Francis of Assisi. Under other circumstances what an apostle of the East might have become,” as evidence of Pope’s sarcasm and disdain. He exposes the mindset of G.U. Pope who states that a Religious Guru from the East would not have attained a spiritual level beyond this in order to undermine the spiritual greatness of Sage Maanickavaachakar.

Dr. Muthukumaraswamy quotes another instance where G.U. Pope ridicules murti worship or vigraha aradana: “G.U. Pope says that a person who attains a higher level of spiritualism also indulges in Murti worship and rustic rituals, which go totally against his level of spiritualism.” 6

There is another concocted story about G.U. Pope in Tamil Nadu which says that Pope wanted the statement, “Ingu oru Thamizh Maanavan urangukiraan” (A Tamil student is sleeping here) sculpted on his cemetery and that the statement is still present there on his cemetery. But those who have gone to the cemetery have confirmed that there was no such statement written on his cemetery except the ones from the Bible.

Born in MontepulcianoTuscany in September 1577, Roberto de Nobili arrived in Goa in western India on May 20, 1605. It is probable that he met here Fr Thomas Stephens, SJ, who had arrived in Goa in 1579, and was probably in the process of composing his Khristapurana.[1]

After a short stay in Cochin in Kerala, he took up residence in Madurai in Tamil Nadu in November 1606. He soon called himself a “teacher of wisdom” (தத்துவ போதகர்), and began to dress like a Sannyasin. Claiming noble parentage he approached high-caste people, and eagerly engaged in dialogue with Hindu scholars about the truths of Christianity.

De Nobili mastered SanskritTelugu and Tamil languages and literature, with the help of his teacher, Shivadharma. As he expounded the Christian doctrine in Tamil he coined several words to communicate his message. He used the word “kovil” (கோவில்) for a place of worship, “arul” (அருள்) and “prasadam” (பிரசாதம்) for grace, “guru” (குரு) for priest or teacher, “Vedam” (வேதம்) for the Bible, “poosai” (பூசை) for Mass, etc.

He adopted also local Indian customs, such as shaving one’s head and keeping only a tiny tuft. He wore a white dhoti and wooden sandals, to don the look of a sanyasin. Another symbol he embraced was the wearing of a three-stringed thread across the chest. He interpreted the three-stringed thread as representing the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

He was one of the first Europeans to gain a deep understanding of Sanskrit and Tamil. He composed Catechisms, apologetic works and philosophic discourses in Tamil, and contributed greatly to the development of modern Tamil prose writing.

His method raised a fierce controversy among his fellow Jesuits and with the Archbishop of Goa Cristóvão de Sá e Lisboa. The dispute was settled by Pope Gregory XV with the Constitution Romanæ Sedis Antistes issued on 31 January 1623. The customs of the three-stringed thread, the tuft, the use of sandalwood paste on the forefront and baths were allowed, inasmuch they did not imply any superstitious ritual. The Pope invited also the Indian neophytes to overcome their caste sensitivity and their despisal of the pariahs.

Christianity is doing everything under the Book.

Now they have gone more ingenious!

They have decided that it’s time to promote Christianity to youth through what their current fad is!

    Tattoos!

What’s the best way to share Christianity with as many people as possible? This is the question Texas resident David L. Miller had in mind when he hired advertising firm RD Thomas to help him develop a “new way to share the Bible’s teachings through contemporary marketing methods” last summer.

Their answer: Jesustattoo.com. The site features explainers about Christianity, video testimonials of people sharing their views on faith, and information about how to get in contact with someone from the site to “start a conversation.”

Last summer, Miller reached out to the company that sells ad space at Lubbock Independent School District‘s football stadium, hoping to purchase rights to post an image (partially featured above) on the stadium’s jumbotron. Although the sales representative, Beverly McBeath, was initially enthusiastic (“THANKS for the business! Woohoo—great way to start the week,” she wrote in an email), the school district eventually reneged on the deal, arguing that “the District is prohibited from authorizing this public religious speech …using the jumbotron, which is governmental property, at a school-related event based on the Establishment Clause.”

Now, Miller is suing Lubbock‘s school district. Represented by a lawyer from the Alliance for the Defense of Freedom, the suit claims that Lubbock has allowed other religious groups—including a church, a university, and a pre-school—to advertise in the stadium, so Miller’s site should also be permitted to purchase jumbotron ad time.

To be sure, there’s an interesting question here about free speech: Should a public school let a religious organization advertise on its property under any circumstances? The suit claims that the other organizations were allowed to hang signs around Lubbock school properties that used explicitly religious language, including a church that advertised itself as “the place where we move men from religion to relationship.” A cursory look at a one-sided account of the facts suggests that Lubbock has given religious groups at least some kind of presence in its schools. This case might be less a question of whether Miller should get to advertise and more of whether other groups shouldn’t.”

  • Church Quotes Bible For Child Abuse

In a shocking statement a Lawyer, legal representative of the Catholic Church quoted the Bible to justify the Abuse of Children by the clergy in Australia.

So aggrieved were the Public they walked out of the hearing.

Where is the Church and Pope?

“”Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such of these that the kingdom of God belongs.”

Victims of child abuse and their supporters walked out of a public hearing at the royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse after the Catholic church’s legal representative quoted the Bible in his opening address.

Over the course of an estimated two weeks, the commission will hear evidence from four victims of abuse by members of the church who sought redress through the Towards Healing process, set up by the church in 1996 to respond to complaints of abuse by members of the clergy.

On Monday morning it was revealed that the Catholic church had paid more than $43m in compensation to victims in a process which it is alleged sought to mitigate public damage to the church rather than address victims’ needs.

Senior counsel assisting the commission, Gail Furness, said the highest payout since the establishment of Towards Healing was $853,000. The amount, which included legal, counselling and other costs, related to a diocesan priest, at the time appointed with the archdiocese of Sydney.

Furness began her opening address by describing the process that Towards Healing was supposed to follow when a complaint of sexual abuse was received.

“It is acknowledged that people will experience this process differently depending upon, among other matters, their understanding of the process and their expectations,” said Furness.

Furness prefaced the evidence expected to be given by the first witness, abuse victim Joan Issacs, who will appear on Monday afternoon.

Peter Gray, representing the church’s Truth, Justice and Healing Council began his opening statement by quoting a passage from the gospel of Mark, prompting cries of shock and disgust in the hearing room.

I read a hilarious story that Pope Benedict  converted  to Islam!

    Delightful hoax of course.

Pope Benedict XVI Resigns Papacy, Converts To Islam

HOLY SEE – In a shocking press conference Sunday, Pope Benedict XVI revealed to the world that he will be stepping down from the Catholic Church’s highest office. “Through prayer and reflection over the past years,” the world’s holiest man began, “I’ve realized that Allah is the one true God.”

Amid clattering camera shutters and roaring reporters, Pope Benedict patiently answered questions, citing traditional Muslim folklore as well as passages from the Qur’an to explain his decision. His session was interrupted only once, when he swiveled South-East to face Mecca, stooped to the ground, and recited the Asr, one of the five daily prayers central to Muslim belief.

According to a message that has been circulating for several months, previous Pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI actually resigned his post in February 2013 because he converted to Islam and could therefore no longer play his role as head of the Catholic Church. The message claims that Pope Benedict made the decision after years of prayer and reflection and because he came to realize that “Allah is the one true God”.

But, not surprisingly, the claims in the message are utter nonsense. Pope Benedict has certainly not converted to Islam. The message began life as a story published on the “news” section of the satire and humour website “Dead Seriousness” in February 2013.  The website specializes in satirical – and entirely – fictional articles, many of which are couched as news reports.

Most site visitors who have a careful read of the articles will quickly realize their satirical and humorous nature and will not take them seriously.  However, partly because the site does not include a disclaimer on its articles explaining that the reports are untrue, at least a few readers are duped into believing what they read.

Moreover, the above article fairly quickly escaped the confines of its original home and began circulating via email and social media as a stand-alone “news” story, thus duping even more recipients. Amusingly, the story has generated a good deal of often angst-ridden commentary about the Pope’s supposed decision.

The message is reminiscent of another widely circulated satire article that falsely claimed that the Pope had come out as gay. This message also escaped from a satirical website.

UK : Former Wardlawhill Church in Rutherglen (Scotland, United Kingdom) is reportedly Sri Sundara Ganapathy Temple now.

Before the Temple organizers purchased it, Wardlawhill Church was affiliated to Church of Scotland, majority church in Scotland, whose aim is “to worship God by following the teachings of Jesus Christ”. It was then renovated and refurbished into a Hindu temple.

According to reports, on the opening day, following the Milk Abhishegam ritual for Lord Ganapathy, the deity was carried in a decorated palanquin on shoulders of several young men in a procession from the City Centre to the Temple hall through the Main Street with police escort, which included chanting and music. A Hindu priest from London conducted the opening ceremony, which included various ancient rituals, prayers, bhajans to the accompaniment of drums and manjeeras, lamps lighting, etc. An auction of sarees was held for temple development fund.

indu activists have converted an 18-year-old church into a temple at Bhojpur village in Etah district of Uttar Pradesh. They have also forcibly re-converted 300 Dalit Christians by making them go through the yagyopaveet ritual.

According to the Hindu Jagran Vibhag (HJV), an outfit belonging to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), despite regular re-conversions by Hindu organisations in rural India, the number of Christian converts have been growing, especially in the rural parts of western Uttar Pradesh.

HJV provincial head Rajshwar Singh says his outfit has set up a team of 600 Hindu activists to investigate the reasons for the growing number of Dalit Christians in the region. This team has recently submitted a report that points out the existence of a number of churches without a single Christian around.

Next month, a Swaminarayan temple will be thrown open to devotees in Los Angeles, California. While there are many Hindu shrines the world over, a majority of them built by global Gujaratis, the consecration scheduled on July 22 is special. For, this abode of Lord Swaminarayan was once a run-down church.

The 80-year-old church was acquired for $1.3 million by Swaminarayan Maninagar Gaadi Sansthan (SMGS) last year.

SMGS has acquired five such old churches in Canada, the US and the UK. A fortnight ago, the sect acquired a 121-year-old heritage church building in Toronto, Canada for $1.6 million. While the building is now being converted into a temple-ashram, SMGS plans to retain carvings and glass paintings which are of great heritage value.

  • Forgive Confessed Gay Priest God Forgets Pope

The present Pope Francis, as has been rightly called, makes changes without changing anything..

In a chat with reporters he mas made some remarks  amply expose the dilemma of the Church on Homo Sexuality.

It would be better to accept the fact that Homosexuality is as old as Christianity, if not older; The Bible records Homosexuality;Homosexuality is being accepted slowly now.

But the line must be drawn to distinguish between consensual Homo Sexuality and Forced one, especially Sodomy practiced by the Priests.

    But the question is.

Would the Pope use the same logic in the case of Rapes and Pedophiles?

    The Pope on Gay Priests
Pope Francis said Monday that he won’t “judge” gay priests, which Vatican analysts say may be the opening for a more conciliatory attitude toward gay members of the church.

On the papal plane on the way back from Brazil, the pope took questions from the press corps (a sign that John Allen, of New Catholic Reportersuggests is indicative of Francis’ good mood). Among many questions, he was asked about the power of the “gay lobby” in the Vatican and recent accusations of homosexual activity by Battista Ricca, the prelate of the Vatican Bank. The Pope took this opportunity speak more generally about homosexuality.

As has been widely reported, he said (in Italian), “Who am I to judge a gay person of goodwill who seeks the Lord?” He noted that the problem with the “gay lobby,” if it exists, is not that these people are gay, but that they are a lobby (i.e. that the Vatican is a tangled web of pressure groups and rivalries). Finally, he chided the press for focusing on the alleged homosexual acts of Ricca, distinguishing them from the criminal matters like sexual predation on children. Criminals should be punished, but if Ricca sinned, then confessed, he must be forgiven. “When the Lord forgives,” the Pope said, “the Lord forgets.”

Francis said, according to a preliminary transcript released by the Vatican), to the role of women in the church (“On the ordination of women, the church has spoken and said no,” the pope said), to whether or not Dec. 8 will indeed be the date in which Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II would be canonized

“The problem is all the people who will want to come from Poland … many will take buses and by December the roads are iced. We have to rethink the date,” he said.

But by far, Francis’ most attention-grabbing statements came when asked about Italina media reports of a “gay lobby” inside the Vatican.

“When I meet a gay person, I have to distinguish between their being gay and being part of a lobby,” the pope said. “If they accept the Lord and have good will, who am I to judge them? They shouldn’t be marginalized. The tendency (to be homosexual) is not the problem. They are our brothers.”
