Family Protection Block Porn Chrome Extension
Metacert of Paul Walsh has come up with a Google Chrome extension to block Porn on the internet from Porn sites, Facebook ,Twitter and other social networks.

At the time of writing this post, MetaCert has labeled over 655 million pages of sexually explicit content – that’s more than 32 billion URLs. For those of you in the browser, search or family safety business, it’s technically 6.5 million unique domains and sub-domains – increasing hourly. There’s a live counter where you can find the number of pages we have labeled at any given time, here. Or just look to the right of this blog post. The number of pages/URLs is derived from the mass of linked data that we have collected and studied since 2010…

Like Norton and McAfee, we have been labeling domains and sub-domains to protect kids from unsuitable and harmful content. Our competitors focus on dozens of categories – such as religion, gambling, violence etc.. At MetaCert, we focus on doing one thing very well. We focus all our attention on labeling sites that contain ‘sexually explicit content’ and as a result, we provide much better solutions for this type of content blocking – for both enterprise and consumers. ‘Vice’ Photo GPS Lands McAfee In Custody!
John McAfee , the notorious computer anti-virus pioneer has been on the run from police in Belize, where he’s wanted for questioning in connection to his neighbor’s murder was arrested when Vice Magazine, actively pursuing his story published his photograph.

He is heading a Company specializing in Anti Virus Soft ware and it is the GPS that tracked him.

His back ground makes an interesting read, worthy of Harold Robbins.

This Magazine seems interesting,depends on how you look at it.

‘McAfee was living a self-exiled life in Belize keeping a harem of prostitutes and apparently experiment with drug manufacturing. Last month, his neighbor was murdered and police named him aperson of interest. McAfee fled, and has since become a traveling media shitshow, keeping the world up to date about his life on the lam on his blog, taunting authorities andblabbing to just about anyone who would listen. Read this New York Times story on McAfee for a good background on the story so far.

But this afternoon, it seemed like his life on the lam had come to a strange end when tits-and-drugs rag Vice accidentally revealed McAfee’s location. In a blog post, Vice Editor-In-Chief Rocco Castoro boasted that he was hanging out with John McAfee to make a documentary about him. Accompanying the post was the photo above of Castoro and McAfee, taken by Vice photographer Robert King. It had been taken with an iPhone and hadn’t been scrubbed of GPS data, which revealed it was taken just three hours earlier in Guatemala, near the border with Belize. Smartphones are a craze that’s sweeping the world, and we are yet to see any indication this is going to change in the foreseeable future. This can only be a good thing – it gives you the chance to have the computer you dreamt of a few years ago in your pocket and do all the fancy stuff you want to do while on the go. Mind, this is only the beginning and these smart devices are getting better all the time, so more features are on the way – and more features translate into more opportunities, while more opportunities ensure that we are going to store additional and potentially sensitive information on our smartphones. And here comes the issue with smartphone security – a problem that is grossly underestimated by most users, which is really surprising given the fact that a few viruses have already managed to breach the security of various mobile OSs.

According to McAfee, the most vulnerable smartphone features include:
- Text messages
- Contacts
- Video
- Phone transcriptions
- Call history
- Documentation
- Buffer overflows
The outbreak might not be contained to the smartphone either.

Most of the current generation of smartphones have mini usb connectors. The connector not only allow the devices to be charged, but also allows them to be plugged into a desktop computer for data syncing. This could allow a virus to be transferred to your desktop or laptop from your smartphone. (I also plug my smartphone into my car’s usb connector to charge. Could a virus be uploaded into it?)

So, what should smartphone owners do? While many companies have developed anti-virus software for smartphones, I suggest simply using the same safe computing practices one uses with their desktop:
- Be wary of email attachments, even if they come from friends
- Obtain applications from trusted sources
- Keep your sensitive data safe
- Protect your passwords
- Be careful using open wifi networks.

Google to Launch Condoms?

Read this from from Google’s earliest employee.

The hard-to-swallow news comes from a new book by one of Google’s earliest employees, a guy named Douglas Edwards. The book, I’m Feeling Lucky: The Confessions of Google Employee Number 59, hits stores this Tuesday – but The Wall Street Journal has a meaty excerpt online right now.

In the excerpt, Edwards describes a day when G-Founder Sergey Brin proposed using all of Google’s marketing budget to inoculate Chechen refugees against cholera. When that idea flopped, Edwards says Brin shot off a bold plan B:

“What if we gave out free Google-branded condoms to high-school students?”

Eh? Come again? Hang on, though: Strange as it sounds, we think the gCondom concept could actually be a stroke of genius. Proper sex, after all, is kind of like a Google beta product: An invitation is required for entry, hardware sometimes fails at the worst possible time, and even the biggest launch can feel premature.
