  • Parents In Elderly Home, Children To Be Shamed

What the basic duty of Children is has to be pointed out and be forced at the point of a Gun is saddening.

    Elder Abuse.
    Who abuses Parents Most, Chart.

It is a fact that many a parents find themselves in a Destitute Home, euphemistically called variously, from Elders’Home, Visranti Nilaya,Retire Home, etc, the last names reserved for the Rich children’s parents.

    The last-named have a high-sounding  reasons.

they have a well organised atmosphere, where they will be more comfortable than they would be with us”

    What a concern?

The same group  is settled abroad, mostly the USA and satisfy themselves, by calling them on Skype?

If they fall sick the Homes will take care of them.

If the parents die there, they will they will transfer money to the Home to take care of the final Rites of the parents, as they have no time, the body will not be in good condition and they are not going to come back are they?

Parents, without going into the religious or sentiment aspect of things, bring up or at least used to bring up children without being conscious of it.

It was done as though it is an involuntary bodily function.

Never have they imagined/or imagine that they were/are doing it expecting that these children will be grateful or take care of them in their old age when they become infirm.

Nor did the parents whine every second that it was a tiresome affair and that. they’ can not manage ‘because of ‘time and physical constraints’

Nor did the parents engage Baby sitters , devoted exclusively to take care of children; nor did they brag how much they love the children and spend enormous sums on taking care of children.

Children now seem to be taken care of more for social status than urged by the natural instinct.

What ever be the motives , children must remember these are the idiots, who know nothing and were/are poor are the same fools who taught you how to use Toilet and fed you, in many case forcefully, to ensure you remain Healthy.

These are the incapable people who , despite the fact they had little money educated you , forgoing what the wanted for them.

Well, it is not the children’s concern.

    Their refrain,

    ‘What have you done?

You took care of me because it is your duty.

You got married and we were the result.

It is your duty and it is no great shakes that you brought us up.

What is your contribution to the family today , economically or Physically?

    We have commitments?

    Period.

In such a Value system the move by the Maharashtra Government to shame the children who dump the parents in an Old Age Home by making Public the names of such children in News Papers.

Though this sounds fine, the finer aspect of Human Values is lost.

One who dumps parents in an Old Age Home will not  be bothered if his name is Published as a defaulter.

This would hurt the parents more.

I would not be surprised if some socially conscious son files a case that this move by the  objecting that this restricts the Freedom of The Individual and the State has no right in this matter.

“MUMBAI: The state Cabinet on Monday came out with a name-and-shame policy for grown-ups who do not take care of their parents, saying those who abandon their parents or leave them with no option but to take shelter in old-age homes will be put on a ‘defaulter (sic) list’ and their names widely publicized through newspapers…

However, everyone whose parents are in old-age homes may not face action. The policy says ‘children of those parents who have to live in old-age homes because their wards are not taking care of them will be put on the list.’

Legal experts said Section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 and Section 20 of the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, 1956, make it mandatory for wards to look after their parents, failing which action can be initiated against them. If a person defies a maintenance order given by a magistrate, he/she can also be tried under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

  • Mayank Gandhi Full Story 2

The state government pulled up MCGM’s high-powered committee for not exercising due diligence.

    lok.jpg
    Lok Group.

To some activists, the design behind Remaking of Mumbai Federation was clear from the start. UTSAL KARANI AND HIS COLLEAGUES AT JANHIT MANCH blew the whistle on Lok Group and ROMF several times, until Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Municipal Commissioner Subodh Kumar finally opened their eyes.

We need to remember that builders can create a marketable asset without having anything in hand, just like magic.

We must remember that builders will always find innovative ways of bypassing the processes of competitive bidding and project evaluation by whipping up public sentiments.

On this solemn occasion of Shri Lalit Gandhi’s second death anniversary, let us all maintain one minute’s silence and remember how Lok Group and Remaking of Mumbai Federation nearly pulled a fast one on this city.

    http://beyondheadlines.in/2012/03/lok-groups-romf-scam/

Contrary to the public perception that was created, there was nothing “inclusive” about Remaking of Mumbai Federation. It was never a true federation of stakeholders, and it never gained the grassroots level support from landlords and tenants of Chira Bazar. The couple of tenants associations supposedly supporting ROMF were little more than letterheads.

To Lalit Gandhi’s Lok Group — the owner of this NGO — Chira Bazaar Cluster Development was a cash cow to be carved up into beef and sold to the highest bidder. Had things gone according to plan, Lok Group might have reaped bumper profits by selling it for at least Rs 37.5 crores, if not much more. See the last page of the Chira Bazaar sale agreement between Lok Group and Unity Realty & Development Ltdhttp://tinyurl.com/Chira-Bazaar-Sale-Agreement

On page 6, under the heading, ‘Cancellation of earlier MOUs and Agreements’, this document refers to an earlier transaction worth Rs 37.5 crore in August 2010, in post-dated cheques dated from November 2010 till end-2013. ROMF had claimed that it would deliver the Chira Bazaar cluster development project, tied up neatly, to Unity Developers. (Unity Infraprojects Limited — UIL — is the holding Company of Unity Realty & Developers Ltd – the buyer of this project.  The promoters of UIL — K K Avarsekar and his associates – are known to have the blessings of the Thackeray family; this may explain the eagerness of MCGM’s High Powered Committee to overlook the glaring shortcomings of this project.)

So, in effect, this present agreement, which scaled down the payment to Rs 10 crore, was an admission of ROMF’s inability to deliver as promised.

As per the present agreement made in Jan 2011, Lok Group and ROMF sold a 5 acre “pilot project” carved out of this 30-acre project to Unity Realty & Development Ltd (URDL) for down-payment of Rs 5 crore, plus Rs 5 crore linked to the project progress. See page 9-11 of their redevelopment agreement under the heading, ‘Monetary Obligations & Considerations’.(Incidentally, this deal was transacted on stamp paper of Rs 100. Stamp duty of 5% of value of immovable properties / land / development rights was not paid on this Development Agreement. If we take the deal at its face value — Rs 10 crore – it amounts to stamp duty evasion of about Rs 50 lakh. But some experts feel that the true value of this agreement is far beyond these figures; even under the scaled-down agreement, ROMF was delivering to Unity Realty an intangible asset worth hundreds of crores. One way or another, it is a huge evasion, and Maharashtra Stamp Duty department should estimate what its true value is!)

In this agreement, the seller is ROMHIF. So what is the connection of ROMHIF with ROMF? This extract from Lok Housing & Constructions Ltd Directors Report 2010 explains it: “Remaking of Mumbai Housing Infrastructure & Finance Ltd (ROMHIF) submits proposal for Chira Bazaar Cluster redevelopment in C Ward of Mumbai. The High Powered Committee clears Chira Bazaar Cluster redevelopment proposal of ROMHIF to redevelop around 30 acres of land (362 buildings and over 8000 tenements)… The proposal for demolishing of old and dilapidated structures and construction of high rise buildings is under consideration with Government of Maharashtra… ROMHIF has submitted its proposal to redevelop around 30 acres of land (362 buildings and over 8000 tenements) in the Kalbadevi-Chira Bazar area in C Ward… It proposes to demolish these old and dilapidated buildings and in their place construct high rise structure in the ear-marked plots… Lok Housing Ltd has 49% stake in the shareholding of Remaking of Mumbai Development Ltd. (ROMD) which is the holding Company for ROMHIF”. As per the website of Registrar of Companies, the registered Addresses of both ROMD and ROMHIF is Lok Bhavan, Andheri East, Mumbai. Paid up capital of ROMD and ROMHIF is Rs 40 lakh and Rs 5 crore respectively.

The state urban development department has rapped the civic high-powered committee for not exercising due diligence while clearing the Remaking of Mumbai Federation (ROMF)’s ambitious 29-acre cluster redevelopment project. It has pointed out that the proposal was forwarded to the state without ensuring irrevocable consent from tenants and landlords on stamp paper.

The project was to cover Mumbai’s oldest ‘gold street’, Chira Bazaar, and parts of Kalbadevi.

  • Niira Radia and I went to Zurich to open accounts-BJP links?

Rao Dheeraj Singh knows a lot about Niira Radia. He was her business partner. He later spent almost two years in prison, accused by Radia of kidnapping her son Karan. Speaking exclusively to INDIA TODAY in his first media interaction after the leaking of the Niira Radia tapes, he makes revelations about her business dealings between 1995 and 2002, a period in which Singh was closely associated with Radia’s Crown Mart International (India) Pvt Ltd.

Singh first met Radia in 1994 when he was working as a traffic supervisor with Sahara Airlines. She was a consultant with Sahara. She hired him for her own company, Crown Mart. They moved to Bombay in 1995, where Radia briefly dabbled in films and a hotel business.

Singh recounts his version of what he believes was her first major deal after moving back to Delhi, “In 1997-98 when we moved back to Delhi, Modiluft had gone bust. We were approached by KLM UK who had leased out two aircrafts to Modiluft but they had been impounded because of pending dues to oil companies. KLM UK mandated Crown Mart to handle the court case for them. You know how things work in India. We worked through lawyers. A Delhi court passed the order to release the aircraft. I clearly remember that she received a call that by the next morning, there would be a stay on the order. At that time the UK pilots were all ready and she ensured that the aircraft took off the very same evening. The case carried on but nobody bothered. Our company was paid Rs 2.5 crore to get the aircraft released.”

In what is public knowledge, Radia’s influence began to grow when the BJP-led NDA came to power in 1998 and Ananth Kumar was appointed Union civil aviation minister. Claims Singh, “It was actually in the BJP regime that everything started going right for us. After the KLM UK deal, a lot of companies started approaching her. We sold some helicopters to Sahara. The Airbus Consortium started supporting her. Karnataka and Maharashtra governments were sold Eurocopters. There was a BJP Government in Maharashtra. Radia had a good relationship with Ananth Kumar. He managed the whole thing for us.” Singh claims to recall meeting a senior leader (name withheld) during the Eurocopter deal. “I remember when this Eurocopter deal with the Maharashtra Government was being negotiated, Niira and I went to Nagpur together to meet the leader, who facilitated it,” alleges Singh.

Singh makes damaging allegations about Radia even going to the extent of saying, “Niira used to get a lot of information and then send it to her clients in France and all over the place. At one point, she wanted to get into defence deals as well.”

More deals meant more commissions. “Niira, Karuna (her sister) and I travelled to Zurich to open bank accounts. I can give you my passport as evidence. I can come to Delhi and give you the name of the Zurich bank where the accounts were opened,” claims Singh (Radia is a PIO). He adds, “The money earned from the deals struck between 1998 and 2001 was getting accrued in Zurich and Channel islands. I don’t know the amount but it was substantial.”

We contacted Radia several times to answer these allegations. Instead, she questioned our ‘better judgement’ on carrying statements made by someone she called a ‘convict’. Later, a communication was sent on her behalf denying Singh’s specific allegation on her Swiss Bank accounts.

Singh talks about the one occasion he believes Radia went one-up on Jet Airways promoter Naresh Goyal by allegedly blocking an aircraft deal for Jet. Alleges Singh, “Jet wanted to buy the aircraft. And she managed to get their permission blocked in the civil aviation ministry. Naresh Goyal was never happy with her. So she approached the French aircraft manufacturer ATR and told them that your aircraft will not be given permission because the aviation ministry has blocked it. The French company told us that okay, we will give you money. Naresh Goyal will not talk to you and he will not give you any money. But we will give you the money and you get the aircraft cleared. Rs 1.85 crore was given to us.”

Singh alleges that Radia’s close ties with the BJP Government extended beyond Kumar. “The BJP Government allotted a huge piece of land to Niira’s trust in Vasant Kunj in 2002. L.K. Advani came to lay the foundation stone of the trust.”

On how Radia met Ratan Tata, Singh’s version of events is as follows, “Singapore Airlines wanted to increase their flights to Delhi and Bombay. Niira got the bilateral agreements done for Singapore Airlines. It was around this time that the company put in a word for Niira to Mr Tata.”

Dheeraj says that he began to drift away from Radia at about the time she landed the Tata Group’s PR accounts. It wasn’t smooth. Claims Singh, “There was a sizeable amount of money stuck in Zurich. And a portion of that was to come to me. She owed me Rs 1.2 crore and there was a big argument. She told me there were a lot of problems and she couldn’t get the money back into the country. And a portion of it had to go to a BJP politician as well. Hawala and money laundering were her domain.” These are allegations which need further investigation.
