  • Hinduism Seven Higher Lokas Existence Explained

Hinduism describes fourteen Lokas or places  where there is Existence.

I have not used the term Human.

The descriptions are of beings;  in terms of Color, Shape, their behaviors, they  are different.

One view is that they are descriptions indicating Spiritual Development.

For example, Chandra Loka denotes mental acumen and development of Buddhi unhindered by Mans, the Mind.

    Chandra indicates the Mind.

    Suyra, Sun represents knowledge.

    Budha , Mercury Wisdom.

    Bruhaspati, Jupiter, Discerning ability.

    Angaaraka, Volatile temper,

    Sukra , venus, material enjoyment,

    Sani, Saturn, mental toughness,

Raahhu, a shadow planet, represents, aggressive behavior, to be tempered by Wisdom by Kethu another Shadow planet by Philosophical Disposition.

    Kethu, Philosophical Disposition.

However there is another view, which states that these are places inhabited by Beings.

I subscribe to the view that these Planets do not indicate dwelling Places, but only  mental stages as a careful study of the Vedas reveal .

The Veda Mantras addressed to these Planets, including Navagraha Mantras used in The Navagraha Homa, talk about qualities and are allegorical.

However there are legends in the Purans on these planets having Form and are found to be interacting among themselves and with Human Beings.

But specific places of their dwelling is only hinted at and these may indicate their qualities.

But there are other Fourteen Lokas described in the Vedas and Purans .

These are spiritual and Dwelling Places.

They might exist in different planes, at different levels.

An interpretation is that these are the Quantum Fields other than where we exist.

Please read my pots on this filed under Astrophysics.

Yet there is evidence to suggest that these are Planes of existence with Physical boundaries, inhabited by Beings.

    Mahas,

    Jana,

    Tapa and

    Satya .

And The Seven Paatalas (lower worlds) are:

    Atala,

    Vitala,

    Sutala,

    Rasaataala,

    Talatala,

    Mahaatala and

    Paatala.

    1.Bhu Loka

Vishnu Purana: Chapter 7:- Wherever earthy substance exists, which may be traversed by the feet, that constitutes the sphere of the earth (Bhu Loka), the dimensions of which I have already recounted to you.

Amongst the 14 worlds thus mentioned, the 7th one viz. Bhu-loka is  Earth..

‘Bhu’ means ‘Earth’ and ‘loka’ means the surface of planet Earth, where we live.

    2.Bhuvar Loka.

Vishnu Purana: Chapter 7:- The region that extends from the earth to the sun, in which the Siddhas and other celestial beings move, is the atmospheric sphere (Bhuvar Loka), which also I have described.

Bhuvar-loka is identified with Earth’s atmosphere and sometimes with the space which is in the immediate neighborhood of Earth.

In other words Bhuvarloka is the near-Earth space including Earth’s atmosphere.

This is the region were all the aircrafts fly and where all the artificial-satellites and space-stations that orbit around the Earth are situated.

This region canbre equated to the Geospace, the space dominated by Earth’s magnetic field.

    3.Suvar Loka.

Vishnu Purana: Chapter 7:- The interval between the sun and Dhruva, extending fourteen hundred thousand leagues, is called by those who are acquainted with the system of the universe the heavenly sphere (Suvar Loka)

Suvar-loka (alternatively Swar-loka) is beyond Bhuvarloka.

Some description makes it a planet inhabited by the Devaswith their king Indra.

Some references make it equivalent to the Swarga

Some Puranic references equate Suvarloka to the Solar System.

As per these the Suvar loka is consisted of nine sub divisions or sectors called

    1) Druva Mandala, 2) Sani Mandala, 3) Brihaspati Mandala, 4) Angaraka Mandala, 5) Sukra Mandala, 6) Budha Mandala, 7) Nakshatra Mandala, 8) Chandra Mandala, 9) Surya Mandala.

Human beings are among the inhabitants.

    4. Mahar Loka.

Vishnu Purana: Chapter 7:- Above Dhruva, at the distance of ton million leagues, lies the sphere of saints, or Mahar-loka, the inhabitants of which dwell in it throughout a Kalpa, or day of Brahmá.

Maharloka is  the place of saintly souls (as per Vishnu Purana) and is considered as greater than the Suvarloka .

Some Puarans say that the souls of the Saptarshis (the Seven Sages of Ancient India) reside here with a watchful eye upon the activities of humanity on Earth.

Maharloka can be equated to the region (Stellar Neighborhood) where all the stars visible to us including our Sun (and thus the Suvar Loka or our Solar System) is situated.

Inhabitants of Mahar Loka belongs to an inter stellar civilization.

All of the 27 Nakshatras  belongs to Mahar Loka.

5.Jana Loka, The Milky Way Galaxy.

Vishnu Purana: Chapter 7:- At twice that distance is situated Janaloka, where Sanandana and other pure-minded sons of Brahmá, reside.

Jana Loka is described greater than Mahar Loka, contains the Mahar Loka, the world of the stars visible to us.

This can be equated to the Milky_Way Galaxy itself. The word ‘Jana’ means people.

In this case, Jana Loka thus becomes the world of people belonging to the Milky Way Galactic Civilization.

    6.Tapo Loka.  Galaxies.

Vishnu Purana: Chapter 7:- At four times the distance, between the two last, lies the Tapo-loka (the sphere of penance), inhabited by the deities called Vaibhrájas, who are unconsumable by fire.

Tapo Loka is described as ‘greater than’ or ‘beyond’ or ‘above’ the Jana Loka.

It is  the world of the Galaxies visible to us, including the Milky Way Galaxy.

Thus it can be  equated with the inter-galactic structures like the Local Group of Galaxies, the Virgo Super Cluster of Galaxies and the Pisces Cetus Super

    Cluster Complex.

    7.Satya Loka.

Vishnu Purana: Chapter 7:- At six times the distance (or twelve Crores, a hundred and twenty millions of leagues) is situated Satya-loka, the sphere of truth, the inhabitants of which never again know death.

Satya Loka is a Loka greater than the Tapo Loka.

It is the first among all the 14 Lokas.

It can be equated to the Universe itself containing several Worlds of Galaxies (Tapo Lokas).

Satya Loka is the abode of Brahma, the God of Creation.

Some Puranas describe Brahma as residing in a Cosmic Egg, the Egg of Brahma or Brahmanda. The Universe indeed can be conceived as a Cosmic Egg.

Some Puranas consider a Lotus which sprang from the naval of Vishnu, the primordial being, as the abode of Brahma.

Due to its expansion from aSingularity (a hyper-massive black-hole of infinite mass and infinitesimal size), the Universe indeed looks like a lotus sprang from a navel, except that we need to consider it as a four dimensional (4D) lotus rather than a three dimensional (3D) one.

In this case ‘the navel of Vishnu‘ can be equated to the Singularity from which our Universe has sprung up.

Thus ‘Satya Loka’ is same as ‘the Lotus that sprang from the navel’.

It is same as our ‘Universe’ itself. It is also the ‘Brahmanda’, the ‘Egg of Brahma’ in which Brahma resides.

The etymology of the word ‘Vishnu’ means ‘that which expands (vis:- expand)’. The etymology of the word ‘Brahma’ to means ‘that which is big or that which is expanded (Brh:- expand, grow, large)’.

Both of these words (personified as Brahma and Vishnu) signifies the expansion of the Universe (a property inherent in the Universe).

The inhabitants of this Cosmic World are mentioned as immortals (ie, they exist till the universe exists).

  • Stars Radiate OM Visual Sri Yantra

Stars Sirius A and Sirius B radiate OM.

    OM Radiates Energy. Image .jpg.
OM Radiates Energy Image Credit. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/

The Science of Cymatics  has proved that the Visual Form of  AUM is Sri Yantra.

(Cymatics (from Greekκῦμα “wave”) is the study of visible sound and vibration, a subset of modal phenomena. Typically the surface of a plate, diaphragm, or membrane is vibrated, and regions of maximum and minimum displacement are made visible in a thin coating of particles, paste, or liquid.[1] Different patterns emerge in the excitatory medium depending on the geometry of the plate and the driving frequency.wiki)”

    2. AUM  or OM is the fractal sound pattern of Big Bang.

The spinning mass of Sirius B (love spun him out) generated the first sound as it moved into its elliptical orbit at the center of the Primal Star. Without movement there is no sound. Love was God’s motivation.

This first sound in the creation was/is the first sound of AUM, the A, and is said like the a in America, (uh), in the tone F. This first movement and its sound continue to exist as Sirius B and its elliptical orbit.

The counter-point, counter spin, and counter-flow, of Sirius B’s first spinning orbital movement now exists as Sirius A and its elliptical orbit, and generates the second sound in AUM, the U, said like the u in tune, in the tone F#.

The third sound in AUM, the nasalated M, is generated by the double helical spiral vortex that extended from the center of the Primal Star to the top and bottom. This double helix flow form was generated by and tuned to the movements of Sirius A and B at the center of the Primal Star.

This double helix form provided the unlimited fractal encodement capability required for the creation of the infinite detail of the cosmos, including planetary biospheres and the DNA-based creatures that occupy them.

The spinning form of this primal double helix extending from the top to the bottom of the Primal Star caused countless smaller vortices to expand throughout the plasma of the Primal Star that would become the galaxies, stars, and planetary systems of the universe.

When the internal vortex motion and the resulting sound generated by AUM and the F, F#, G, tritone reached full resonance, the Primal Star, suddenly expanded into the infinite detail of the created universe, in the event known as the Big Bang.”

    3.

Hans Jenny’s work in the science of Cymatics (the study of the interrelationship of sound and form) has shown that when AUM is spoken, the pattern of circles and triangles of the Sri Yantra appears in sand on a resonator plat, or in an electron vibration field sensor called a Tonoscope. (See below left).

Jenny also discovered that when the sounds of the Vedic Sanskrit alphabet are spoken, the written form of the letter appears. The sound of the letter is the vibratory form of the letter.

3.The Rig Veda confirms that AUM is the source of the fifty sounds of the Vedic Sanskrit language.

Since we know that AUM comes from the Sirius System, and it has been scientifically proven that the Sri Yantra is the visual form of AUM, it is logical that the Sri Yantra would separate and contain the fifty sounds of Vedic Sanskrit.

    How does this happen?

The orbital periods of Sirius A and B around each other and their common center of mass takes exactly fifty years.

The fifty sounds of the Vedic Sanskrit alphabet are created by the division of their fifty year combined orbits into fifty segments of sound that are separated by the annual eclipses of the Sirius system by our Sun. Fifty years, fifty eclipses, fifty segments, fifty sounds.

  • Hinduism 14 Lokas Quantum Mutiverse Study

Fourteen Lokas or the Planes of Existence are described in Hinduim.

    14 Patala-loka
    13 Rasatala-loka
    12 Mahatala-loka
    11 Talatala-loka
    10 Sutala-loka
    09 Vitala-loka
    08 Atala-loka
    07 Bhur-loka
    06 Bhuvar-loka
    05 Svar-loka
    04 Mahar-loka
    03 Jana-loka
    02 Tapa-loka
    01 Satya-loka

There are two interpretations of the Lokas.

One is that these are The Stages of mental development in a Spiritual Journey.

Another is that these are Planes of Existence at other  levels, complying with Laws that are unique to them, Including the Laws of Physics.

They exist as our earth exists in Time and Space, where the Space Time concepts are different from ours.

It may be noted that the day of the Devas is equivalent to 100 Earth Years.

level I Multiverse, in the Universe, there are many observable areas(The observable areas are marked as red circled with a red cross on ther center) (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

There is a Mention of Mandhaata visiting Brahma loka for a day and on returning to Earth  he finds that 100 Years have lapsed.

I feel that there are two different sets of Lokas that are being spoken in Hinduism.

There are references to Chandra and Surya Lokas, which are not listed in the 14 Lokas List.

These are called Chandra Mandala and Surya Mandala as well.

Mandala may probably mean the sub planetary systems around the Moon and Sun respectively

At the same time the Yoga Schools call various stages of mental development as the level of Chandra, which indicates Mind while Surya indicates

    Intellect.

Taking these to mean and comparing them with the Quantum Theory which states that there are other planes where things exist and they do not obey

the Laws of our Earth’s  Physical laws.

Latest findings indicate that the Multi verses are Infinite and they depend on the Perceiver and his ability to perceive them.

Hinduism says exactly the same with Time being Cyclic.

Read my Post on Cyclic Theory of Time.

“So, the total number of possibilities accessible to any given observer is limited not only by the entropy of perturbations of metric produced by inflation and by the size of the cosmological horizon, but also by the number of degrees of freedom of an observer,” the physicists write.

Professor Arthur Holmes (1895-1965) geologist, professor at the University of Durham. He writes regarding the age of the earth in his great book, The Age of Earth (1913) as follows:

“Long before it became a scientific aspiration to estimate the age of the earth, many elaborate systems of the world chronology had been devised by the sages of antiquity. The most remarkable of these occult time-scales is that of the ancient Hindus, whose astonishing concept of the Earth’s duration has been traced back to Manusmriti, a sacred book.”

Alan Watts, a professor, graduate school dean and research fellow of Harvard University, drew heavily on the insights of Vedanta. Watts became well known in the 1960s as a pioneer in bringing Eastern philosophy to the West. He wrote:

“To the philosophers of India, however, Relativity is no new discovery, just as the concept of light years is no matter for astonishment to people used to thinking of time in millions of kalpas, ( A kalpa is about 4,320,000 years). The fact that the wise men of India have not been concerned with technological applications of this knowledge arises from the circumstance that technology is but one of innumerable ways of applying it.”

When the Hindu calculation of the present age of the earth and the expanding universe could make Professor Holmes so astonished, the precision with which the Hindu calculation regarding the age of the entire Universe was made would make any man spellbound.

The multiverse (or meta-universe) is the hypothetical set of infinite or finite possible universes (including the historical universe we consistently experience) that together comprise everything that exists and can exist: the entirety of spacetimematter, and energy as well as the physical laws and constants that describe them. The various universes within the multiverse are sometimes called parallel universes.

The structure of the multiverse, the nature of each universe within it and the relationships among the various constituent universes, depend on the specific multiverse hypothesis considered. Multiple universes have been hypothesized in cosmologyphysics, astronomyreligionphilosophytranspersonal psychology and fiction, particularly in science fiction and fantasy. In these contexts, parallel universes are also called “alternative universes”, “quantum universes”, “interpenetrating dimensions”, “parallel dimensions”, “parallel worlds”, “alternative realities”, “alternative timelines”, and “dimensional planes,” among others. The term ‘multiverse’ was coined in 1895 by the American philosopher and psychologist William James in a different context.[1]

The multiverse hypothesis is a source of disagreement within the physics community. Physicists disagree about whether the multiverse exists, and whether the multiverse is a proper subject of scientific inquiry.[2] Supporters of one of the multiverse hypotheses include Stephen Hawking,[3] Steven Weinberg,[4] Brian GreeneMax Tegmark, and Alex Vilenkin. In contrast, critics such as David Gross,[5] Paul Steinhardt,[6] and Paul Davies have argued that the multiverse question is philosophical rather than scientific, or even that the multiverse hypothesis is harmful or pseudoscientific.”

  • Bells Theorem Hinduism Quantum Mechanics

Hinduism states that things are not what they seem.

Advaita interpretation of the Vedas say that what you see or perceive is because of your ignorance of Reality.

The Reality is One and you are not different from it.

You are conditioned by ignorance and your limitations which includes Space and Time , where as the Reality is beyond both of the

Vaisheshika Theory of Atoms  says it differently.

Atoms are configured in various permutations and combinations to present a view of different objects, that is the objects are differ because of the

different structure of the Atoms constituting objects.

Let us look this from practical Life.

What you perceive is dependent on where you are , what you are and what your mental attitude is.

For the same set of Object, each of us have a different perception.

And the Attributes through which we recognize them  are, when they are broken down mean nothing.

For example, the Attributes of a Rose.

A rose is known by its smell, color, climates in which they are grown are some of the Attributes we have for a Rose.

If you analyze these Attributes, you shall find they lead to nothing as such to recognize Rose as a Rose.

The Rose we recognize is some thing more than the Attributes we ascribe.

Even with out these Attributes we recognize a Rose.

For more on this, please read my Posts on Perception, Do we see what we really see.

    Another example.

We are familiar with Ultra Slow Motion cameras used in Cricket Matches.

Umpires use this to determine to take decisions on the field.

What is seen cleanly as ‘out’  is ‘not out’, when you refer these slow motion replays.

Which fact that is presented is correct?

    Both are correct .

It depends on the conditions and the perspective.

This is what Hinduism has said about Five Thousand years ago.

Quantum Theory is now nearing it, n , but not quite.

Bells Theorem  proves that Quantum Mechanics can not explain all the events by their theory alone.

    Exactly what the Vedas say.

I am providing some Links and excerpts to refer.

    Hinduism and Bell's Theory.
    Static Universe bell’s Theory

No physical theory of local hidden variables can ever reproduce all of the predictions of quantum mechanics”

There are variants of the Theorem with different meanings of “Local Realistic.” In John S. Bell‘s pioneering paper of 1964 the realism consisted in postulating in addition to the quantum state a “complete state”, which determines the results of measurements on the system, either by assigning a value to the measured quantity that is revealed by the measurement regardless of the details of the measurement procedure, or by enabling the system to elicit a definite response whenever it is measured, but a response which may depend on the macroscopic features of the experimental arrangement or even on the complete state of the system together with that arrangement. Locality is a condition on composite systems with spatially separated constituents, requiring an operator which is the product of operators associated with the individual constituents to be assigned a value which is the product of the values assigned to the factors, and requiring the value assigned to an operator associated with an individual constituent to be independent of what is measured on any other constituent. From his assumptions Bell proved an inequality (the prototype of “Bell’s Inequality”) which is violated by the Quantum Mechanical predictions made from an entangled state of the composite system. In other variants the complete state assigns probabilities to the possible results of measurements of the operators rather than determining which result will be obtained, and nevertheless inequalities are derivable; and still other variants dispense with inequalities. The incompatibility of Local Realistic Theories with Quantum Mechanics permits adjudication by experiments, some of which are described here. Most of the dozens of experiments performed so far have favored Quantum Mechanics, but not decisively because of the “detection loophole” or the “communication loophole.”

Let me put it from a common example.

All of us take decisions based on Available Data.

We do not have all the choices to enable us to decide on an issue.

We take decisions based on the Data, Information that is made available to us and we decide.

This means the decisions we make are made on the basis of information available or made to be available to us and not All the Information.

Hence our decisions, based on Choices are not fully correct as they have been preset with the limitations of the Choices being made available to us.

Please read my post on Choice.

“If the statistical predictions of quantum theory are true, an objective universe is incompatible with the law of local causes.”

Although formidable at first glance, Bell’s Theorem seems simpler once key terms are understood.

First, an “objective universe” is simply one that exists apart from our consciousness.

In 1935, Albert Einstein, together with Nathan Rosen and Boris Podolsky proposed through flawless mathematical reasoning that if the quantum theory were correct, then ‘A change in the spin of one particle in a two particle system would affect its twin simultaneously, even if the two had been widely separated in the meantime’. And ‘simultaneous’ is a dirty word in the theory of special relativity, which forbids the transmission of any signal faster than the speed of light. Obviously, a signal telling the particle ‘what to do’ would have to travel faster than the speed of light if instantaneous changes were to occur between the two particles.

The dilemma into which Einstein, Rosen and Podolsky dragged the quantum theory was a profound one, coming to be known as The ERP Effect.

In 1964 Bell’s Theorem emerged as a proof that Einstein’s impossible proposition did in fact hold true: instantaneous changes in widely separated systems did occur.

In 1972, Clauser confirmed the statistical predictions of quantum mechanics, working with an elaborate system involving photons, calcite crystals, and photo multiplier tubes The experiment has since been run several times with the same consistent results; Bell’s Theorem stands solid.

    The implications of Bell’s theorem
    are practically unthinkable

Even for the physicists involved, the implications of Bell’s Theorem are practically unthinkable. Mathematics and experimentation have taken us where our logical mind cannot go. Imagine, two particles once in contact, separated even to the ends of the universe, change instantaneously when a change in one of them occurs!

Slowly, new ideas are emerging to explain these unthinkable occurrences. One view is that, in some unexplainable way, the separated particles are still in contact although separated in space. This is the suggestion of the French physicist Bernard D’Espagnat. In 1979, writing about quantum reality, he said that “the entire notion of an external, fixed, objective world now lies in conflict not only with quantum theory, but in facts drawn from actual experiments…. in some sense all these objects constitute an indivisible whole.”

Physicist Jack Sarfatti of the Physics/Consciousness Research Group proposes that no actual energy-requiring signal is transmitted between the distant objects, but ‘information’ is transmitted instead. Thus no violation of Einstein’s special theory of relativity occurs. Exactly what this information is is unclear, and it is a strange thing which might travel instantly and require no energy to do so.

Nic Herbert, a physicist who heads the C-Life Institute, suggests that we have merely discovered an elemental oneness of the world. This oneness cannot be diminished by spatial separation. An invisible wholeness unites the objects that are given birth in the universe, and it is this wholeness that we have stumbled into through modern experimental methods. Herbert alludes to the words of the poet Charles Williams: “Separation without separateness, reality without rift.”

. A particularly explosive number back in 2008, the GRB 080916C, was captured by the LAT and is the basis for the musical track. During the brightest part of the explosion, the LAT detected 100s of gamma rays from the extremely-distant explosion. NASA converted the data to music and slowed the rates down by a factor of 5x to hear the individual gamma rays better

. Each was then represented by a different instrument (harp, piano etc) and along with the accompanying animation, illustrate the explosions journey.
