  • Voluntary Part Time Wives Islam

While there is an uproar about the Islamic practice of a Man  marrying Four wives, news comes out that Islamic women in UK are voluntarily getting marred as a Second wife, because they could not get a suitable match.

    Gender equality at last!

    Story:

Aisha laughs out loud at the thought of how her colleagues and clients would react if they knew she shares a husband. The laughter makes her loose hijab slip slightly, exposing a few strands of dark hair. “They would be dumbfounded and probably prurient,” she sniffs. As far as they are concerned, her 42-year-old factory-owning husband has only one wife—this thoughtful attorney sipping Earl Gray tea in the sitting room of a pleasant and very middle-class Edwardian house in a leafy residential road in northwest London.

Her immediate family and close Muslim friends know the truth: 41-year-old Aisha is a second wife and for three years has been conveniently—at least for her—sharing her businessman husband with his first bride. “It was my choice to marry him. There was no coercion.” With a wry giggle she says: “I wanted a partner and man-hunted for one using a marriage agency and this suits me.”

“I didn’t want to remain single and I wanted my relationship to be endorsed by my religion, so sleeping around or living with a non-Muslim wasn’t an option,” she says. “This works for me.”

Being a co-wife is a situation that apparently works for other successful British Muslim women, who have delayed marriage to build careers and discover that by the time they are ready for a husband, their age counts against them and they don’t have the pick of the crop. For them, sharing a husband is a practical solution that allows them a suitable partner and stable companionship all sanctioned by Islam.

And it has the added bonus of allowing the women to retain the independent lives they have developed for themselves during their single years. “I didn’t want a full-time husband,” Aisha says firmly.

She admits that the first wife, whom her husband married 15 years ago in an arranged union, wasn’t initially happy with the arrangement but has “come round,” although the two wives have little to do with each other and seldom meet. Aisha sees her husband on alternate days and nights—although if either of the two children from his first wife falls sick, or there’s a family emergency, Aisha will be compensated for any time lost as a result of timetable changes.

The unexpected trend of professional British Muslim women agreeing to become second or third wives has startled Islamic religious leaders, some of whom disapprove, and is now gaining political attention with British Conservative politicians vowing to stamp out the practice—although how theoretically they will accomplish this remains unclear. Under U.K. law multiple marriage is illegal, but co-wives are exploiting loopholes.

  • Ramadan Sight The Moon When Sun Does Not Set

I have been intrigued s to ow the Moon is sighted by The Muslims for Fasting during the Month of Ramadan, .

    I checked up.

    It seems a bit complicated.

I am quoting from sources which seem authentic .

**To further clarify this topic watch – Moon Sighting: a clarification here**

The issue of moon sighting has never been as divisive as it has become today. In the past, Muslim scholars agreed on a certain method to decide the start and end of the month of Ramadan. In the last few years, advancements in communications and media have turned the world into a small village creating a new context where matters concerning inter-countries relations are involved. A second new context may also be related to the presence of many Muslims in countries that lack one single Muslim authority. Resultantly, readily understood issues related to a number of Islamic rituals have now become controversial and confusing. This confusion is further fuelled by the influence of a Western lifestyle upon Muslims; generally speaking, Muslims are often accused of being anti-Western or even unscientific in their spheres of life. This can influence them to react emotionally and unreasonably. One such observable sphere in which many Muslims have reacted in this manner is with regard to moon-sighting and the establishment of the start of the month of Ramadan, ‘Id al-Fitr and ‘Id al–Adha.

    Moon Sighting in Islam.
    Moon Sighting in Islam.

In this article, I would like to draw attention to specific principles in an attempt to remove misconceptions surrounding the ongoing debate.

Shari’ah Principles related to the confirmation of the beginning of Ramadan and the ’Id

I believe many readers will be aware of these principles yet some of them may not be aware of specific fundamental issues within them. In order to gain a deeper understanding we have to differentiate between the principles used by those in authority in any Muslim community including the Muslim nation [ummah] under the Caliph [khalifah] or other leaders in his absence, and the principles used by ordinary Muslims.

    Leaders or those in charge are commanded to employ one of two principles. The first is to sight the moon with the eye. The basis for this doctrine is numerous Prophetic traditions [ahadith]; Abu Hurayrah relates that the Prophet, may Allah praise and send peace and blessings upon him, said, ‘Fast when you see it (i.e., the moon) and cease fasting when you see it, and if it is hidden or cloudy, complete the counting of Sha’ban as thirty days.’ This hadith is agreed upon by Al-Bukhari and Muslim; similar authentic ahadith are also recorded. The second principle applies only in the absence of the first, which is to complete thirty days for the month of Sha’ban. The basis for this is also the previous hadith and many other similar statements. It is worth noting that the overwhelming majority of scholars unanimously agreed upon using these two principles. {quotes}Furthermore, it has been stated by a number of scholars that the overwhelming majority of scholars also agreed not to consider astronomy or calculations as a tool to confirm the beginning of Ramadan or ’Id.{/quotes}

Scholars who quoted this consensus include al-Jassas al–Hanafi1, al-Baji al-Maliki2 Ibn Rushd al-Maliki3, al-Subki al-Shafi’i4, Ibn Taymiyyah5, Ibn ‘Abidin Al-Hanafi6 and others. They added that the effective cause [‘illah, ratio legis] for confirming these events is the visual sighting of the moon or the completion of the month of Sha’ban. This means that the only basis for fasting is one of these two principles.”

“Moonsighting.com calculates where moonsighting is possible for every month using the criteria, developed by Khalid Shaukat. Development of the criteria took decades of research using thousands of observations from different locations collected over a period of 170 years. These calculations “

How do Muslims in the Arctic sight the Moon when the Sun does not set?

The Atlantic has an interesting article on this.

As Hassan Ahmed, a Muslim resident who came to the city from Somalia and works at the Islamic Center of Northern Norway told me, “the sun doesn’t set. For 24 hours it’s in the middle of the sky.” Faced with the impossibility of adhering to the sunrise/sunset rule, Tromsø‘s Muslims must find alternative ways of determining when to fast. “We have a fatwa,” or clerical decree, Ahmed said. “We can correspond the fast to the closest Islamic country, or we can fast with Mecca.”

Sandra Maryam Moe, a Norwegian convert to Islam and manager of Tromsø’s community center and mosque, Alnor, echoed Ahmed’s statement: “since we have midnight sun during Ramadan this year, we’ve chosen to use the timetable for Mecca.” This means that if the sun rises in Mecca at 5:00 am, residents of Tromsø will begin the fast at 5 a.m. (Norwegian time). In addition to being a good symbolic choice, adhering to Mecca’s timetable, according to Moe, also provides a practical benefit: “they have very stable times for sunrise and sunset so that makes the prayers and the fasting quite balanced.”

So tonight at 7:07 — the time of the would-be-sunset — Muslims in Tromsø will gather at Alnor’s mosque, one of the northernmost in the world, and with the afternoon sun still shining through the windows, break the fast. Typically, this involves a combination of cuisines — from traditional dates to the rich, thick bread Norway is famous for. A nightly ritual during Ramadan, Moe says the gathering is very popular. “It’s full every night with people coming to join and break fast together and pray together. It’s a very social time throughout Ramadan.”

  • Murder Attempt In Mosque Not Praying Properly

In one of the worst cases of religious Fanaticism  a Somali Muslim attempted to murder people for not Praying properly!

    Attack for not praying properly
The mosque is a converted house. Violence broke out shortly before 11pm on Saturday following late night prayers

Looneys are taking Islam to the dumps.

    Story:

A Somali Muslim allegedly stabbed a policeman and three mosque worshippers after screaming: ‘Allah is going to punish you all.’

The 32-year-old is said to have tried to kill the worshippers during an argument over whether they were praying correctly.

It is thought the man, who was not a regular at the mosque in Birmingham, became upset because the prayers were not being performed in the manner of his denomination.

One witness, who asked not to be named, said: ‘I heard shouting behind me as I was praying. I turned around and saw two men grappling with each other.

‘Suddenly a man pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man in the leg, near the groin.

‘Someone tried to intervene but the man just went for him and thrust a knife into his abdomen. It was absolutely terrifying.’
    .

A man started stabbing one of the guys who was just sitting right next to him.

‘We went to save him. He had multiple injuries, three or four wounds.

‘A few of us went to stop him. One of the guys was strong enough to stop him. I held his hand. One also had an injury on his thigh.’

Another witness said: ‘He shouted “Allah is going to punish you all”. He stabbed two people then one guy restrained him and someone called the police.’

The suspect was being held yesterday in a mental health facility on suspicion of attempted murder.

The attack comes less than a month after soldier Lee Rigby was murdered in Woolwich, south London, allegedly by knifemen boasting they were avenging the death of Muslims by the military.

The male officer, who has not yet been named, was due to receive a bravery award this week for helping to save the life of a young child in a separate incident last year.

Chief Superintendent Alex Murray, of West Midlands Police, praised the policeman, saying: ‘There was some real brave action going on inside that mosque.’

He added: ‘There’s no connection with any other incidents that we can see at the moment – for example, Woolwich or other incidents around the country.

‘There’s no information at this stage to suggest it was a hate crime.’

  • Dr.Zakir Naik On Islam And Hinduism.Reply

I was asked by my friend to check on the YouTube Videos by Dr.Zakir Naik, who seemed to preach Islam ina scientific way(?)  and quotes on The Bhagavad Gita and other Hindu Scriptures.

    I checked .

    Islam Discourse by Zakir Naik
    Islam by Zakir Naik

Zakir Abdul Karim Naik (born 18 October 1965) is an Indian public speaker on the subject of Islam and comparative religion. He is the founder and president of the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF),[2] a non-profit organisation that owns the Peace TV channel based in DubaiUAE. He is sometimes referred to as a televangelist.[3][4] Before becoming a public speaker, he trained as a doctor.[4] He has written two booklets on Islam and comparative religion. He is regarded as an exponent of the Salafi ideology(Wiki)

    On Terrorism.

    He is true to Islam.

He justifies terrorism which s line with the Qur’an.

The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with non believers.  Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding.  Muslims who do not join the fight are called ‘hypocrites’ and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter.

    The Quran:

Quran (2:191-193) – “And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]…and fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah.” There is a good case to be made that the textual context of this particular passage is defensive war, even if the historical context was not.  However, there are also two worrisome pieces to this verse.  The first is that the killing of others is authorized in the event of “persecution” (a qualification that is ambiguous at best).  The second is that fighting may persist until “religion is for Allah.”  The example set by Muhammad is not reassuring.”

Let me reply him for his Video on the Similarities between Hinduism and Islam.

1.”Allah’- Zakir  says we associate to partner with Him.

There can be no  blasphemy as this one, for The Reality is not a Partnership firm.

Islam calls itself Monotheistic and at times Monistic, from his observations.

If it is so who associates with whom?

2.Best way to understand Religion is to go to its Source as its followers often do not understand their Scriptures.

    Right.

By applying his Logic Islam  can be understood s one that is intolerant of other faiths.

Please see quotes from the Koran marked above.

Islam’s view of views On Rape.

    “Rape permissible.

Summary Answer:Under Islamic law, rape can only be proven if the rapist confesses or if there are four male witnesses.  Women who allege rape, without the benefit of the act having been witnessed by four men who subsequently develop a conscience, are actually confessing to having sex.  If they or the accused happens to be married, then it is considered to be adultery.

    The Qur’an:
Qur’an (2:282) – Establishes that a woman’s testimony is worth only half that of a man’s in court (there is no “he said/she said” gridlock in Islam).Qur’an (24:4) – “And those who accuse free women then do not bring four witnesses (to adultery), flog them…”  Strictly speaking, this verse addresses adultery (revealed at the very time that Muhammad’s favorite wife was being accused of adultery on the basis of only three witnesses, coincidentally enough) however it is a part of the theological underpinning of the Sharia rule.

Qur’an (24:13) – “Why did they not bring four witnesses of it? But as they have not brought witnesses they are liars before Allah.”

Qur’an (2:223) – “Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will…”  There is no such thing as rape in marriage, as a man is permitted unrestricted sexual access to his wives.

If it is so who associates with whom?

1.The Upanishads and Vedas are not different.

Upanishads is a part of The Vedas.

    Upanishads do not recite Vedas.

They are a part of the Vedas.

Point by point rely will continue.

Naik was officially barred from the UK in 2010 due to a number of comments, including a claim that if Osama Bin Laden was “terrorising the terrorist, if he is terrorising America the terrorist, biggest terrorist, I am with him. Every Muslim should be a terrorist”.

Naik has been noted for his views on 9/11 as an “inside job” and has also declared that “homosexuality is forbidden in Islam and the punishment for homosexuality is death”.

Since the event, Student Rights tracked down a copy of the booklet circulated, and revealed a number of deeply concerning ideals found within it. It is rumoured that the booklet was obtained via the UK-based charity, the Islamic Dawah Centre International who this afternoon confirmed via telephone to The Commentator that they do supply the booklet, but they are currently out of stock. When asked as to whether they supply to university campuses, the response was, “of course”.

  • Why Islam Is Violent, A Christian View.

I chanced upon an article which was interesting and I am sharing it here.

    It states that,

Yet when we consider that, historically, geographically, and, most importantly, theologically, Islam is remarkably continuous with both Judaism and Christianity, we should see that this is a question that must be raised.  After all, Jews, Christians, and Muslims are of one mind in affirming the divine origins of the Hebrew Scriptures, monotheism, the personal nature of God, God’s justice and compassion, the creation of the world, the orderliness and goodness of the world, and the irreducible individuality of the human person.

Christianity Violence on the Non believers
    Violence in Christianity

Despite these fundamental similarities, it is the followers of Islam alone that have never stopped slaughtering in the name of their God.  Why?..

‘As some critics have plausibly argued, monotheism, being a sort of one size-fits-all concept, expresses a moral universalism that, like all such universalisms, can and has bred arrogance and intolerance in those who endorse it.  Judaism and Christianity, however, have tempered this vision.  Islam, though, has not.  In fact, it is precisely in the Muslim’s objections to Judaism and Christianity that this becomes most clear.

From the Muslim’s perspective, neither Judaism nor Christianity is truly monotheistic.  Judaism has always revolved around the historically andculturally-specific experiences of a particular people—i.e. “the Chosen People,” the Jews.  And Christianity, with its doctrines of the Blessed Trinity (God is Three Persons in One) and the Incarnation (God entered the flux of history by becoming a man in Christ), compromises monotheism even further.’

Judaism  Christianity and Islam share common geographical location and legends.

    Christianity  Non-Violent?

Spanish Inquisitions, Bloody Mary,Crusades are some examples of Tolerance.

Then came and it still exists, carrots, in the form of Money, free Education, Vatican Budget for conversion.

Christianity  has ‘mellowed’ because it has found a  better tool for conversion, persuasion, and the use of Money, both to individuals and Government.

Islam has not learnt it or refuses to learn this from Christianity.

    Pot calling the kettle black?

As to Monotheism, where is it in Christianity except in few references in The Bible, there too you would find the father being mentioned apologetically.

Curiously the author has rolled father, Son and the Holy Spirit into One!

Compared to it, Islam is Monotheistic , if not Monistic.

“The Bible is a historical narrative.  It is this narrative framework that constrains the range of interpretations that the text lends.  It is the Bible’s sequential ordering of events, its meticulous attention to details, to context, that informs its message regarding the One, True God.’

The Bible was prepared edited and published by Constantine ,period.(see my posts on this)

The Koran has no narrative.  Rather, it is essentially a collection of divinely issued moral precepts that, devoid as they are of context, are meant to pertain to all peoples—everywhere.  In ignoring the context of its emergence and development, Islam also neglects the contexts of those upon whom it seeks to impose itself.

This explains why Islam has not, cannot, assimilate to any institutional arrangements that allow a separation of some sort or other between the eternal and temporal spheres.  It is this that accounts for why Islam appears incapable of co-existing for long with any and all potential competitors.

Christianity was institutionalized by Constantine and we know what the Church has done or is doing, including keeping mum during the holocaust.

When a religion is institutionalized it ceases to be free and religion loses its moral force.

    And finally is Christianity tolerant?

    Source for discussion.

    http://frontpagemag.com/2013/jack-kerwick/why-islam-leads-to-violence/

    Related;

The first item is to define violence. The only violence that matters to someone outside of Islam, Christianity, or Judaism is what they do to the “other,” or political violence. Cain killing Abel is not political violence. Political violence is not killing a lamb for a meal or making an animal sacrifice. Note that regardless of whether a vegan or a PETA member considers both of these actions violent, neither constitutes violence against vegans or PETA members.

The next item is to compare the doctrines both quantitatively and qualitatively. The political violence of the Koran is called “fighting in Allah’s cause,” or jihad.

We must do more than measure the jihad in the Koran. Islam has three sacred texts: Koran, Sira, and Hadith, or the Islamic Trilogy. The Sira is Mohammed‘s biography. The Hadith are his traditions — what he did and said. Sira and Hadith form the Sunna, the perfect pattern of all Islamic behavior.

The Koran is the smallest of the three books, also called the Trilogy. It is only 16% of the Trilogy text[1]. This means that the Sunna is 84% of the word content of Islam’s sacred texts. This statistic alone has large implications. Most of the Islamic doctrine is about Mohammed, not Allah. The Koran says 91 different times that Mohammed’s is the perfect pattern of life. It is much more important to know Mohammed than the Koran. This is very good news. It is easy to understand a biography ab out a man. To know Islam, know Mohammed.

It turns out that jihad occurs in large proportion in all three texts. Here is a chart about the results:
It is very significant that the Sira devotes 67% of its text to jihad. Mohammed averaged an event of violence every six weeks for the last nine years of his life. Jihad was what made Mohammed successful. Here is a chart of the growth of Islam.
