There are people who say many Indians suffer from the ‘Hinduism told you so’ syndrome, that is people declare that after a scientific truth is established or a new technology is developed people say that this has been stated by Hinduism thousands of years ago.
On the other side we have people saying that Hinduism is non sense and that people attribute things ans science to Hinduism where it is not intended.
Agstya’s Dry Battery
I belong to none of these groups.
I try to read the original text or the best translations when the texts are unavailable and post such information that is credible and can stand the test of what we now call Science.
Those who cry that people say that Hinduism’ said so’, must read th texts and follow what has been stated to find out the truth.
One such easily verifiable information on Space Ship design. Propellants and electroplating is found in the Agastya Samhita by Sage Agastya.
Place a well-cleaned copper plate in an earthenware vessel. Cover it first by copper sulfate and then moist sawdust. After that put a mercury-amalgamated-zinc sheet on top of an energy known by the twin name of Mitra-Varuna. Water will be split by this current into Pranavayu and Udanavayu. A chain of one hundred jars is said to give a very active and effective force.
By the way, mitra is cathode and varuna is what we call anode today, Pranavayu is oxygen and udanavayu is hydrogen.

It is human nature to dismiss as fantasy or sheer non sense when one can not understand an event.
I may point out until the late 80’s people would have been horrified and would have called you mad if you told them that you could see and talk to people with a small handheld device!
I recall, in the early 60’s, that I used to gape at a medium-sized box(later I came to know it was called a Transistor) which was emitting songs and remember looking for some wire that should have been there!
Now all these are found to be true and in the latter case we have even forgotten it!
This shows that it is only our inability to grasp things and it is not fantasy when some thing is thought of by the Human Mind.
I am a believer, this is not a sinful word at all, in the fact that what the Human Mind can conceive it can execute or had already executed by some one.
That’s why one does not find a word in Sanskrit describing things as Supra Normal or a Miracle,.
The closest word one finds, in such circumstances, is strange,”Aascharyam’ or Indescribable, ‘Avaktavya’.
When one looks at Indian History and Puranas with the blinker that only the present civilization is the most advanced in the History of Mankind and the whatever is said of the ancient times, is sheer non sense and pure fantasy.
Star Canopus.Sage Agastya.
Not so.
When one talks of the aeons , yugas in Hinduism running into thousands or even lakhs of years, or events which talk of highly developed scientific thoughts in those periods, one passes the remark ‘pure fantasy”
Not at all.
One such instance is the description of the Tamil Sangams found in Tamil literature and in Sanskrit texts.
texts mention that Lord Krishna attended the Tamil Sangam as a Guest!
I have written article on this.
Because of our inability to understand we dismiss the Sangam period as a figment of imagination and the number of years it lasted , the number of Kings who patronised.
The Sangam period is assigned between 400 BC to 500 AD, that too the the Third and Last Sangam.
The earlier two Sangams are dismissed as legends!
Lets look what these ‘Legends’ say .
”
1st sangam:
The first Sangam was head-quartered in a city named Then-madurai (Southern Madurai). It was patronised by a succession of eighty-nine kings and survived for an unbroken period of 4,400 years during which time it approved an immense collection of poems and literature. At the end of that golden age the First Sangam was destroyed when a deluge arose and the entire city was swallowed by the sea along with large parts of the land area of Kumari Kandam. However, the survivors, saving some of the books, were able to relocate further north to the Srilankan side.
2nd sangam:
They established a Second Sangam in a city called Kavatapuram which lasted 3,700 years. The same fate befell this city as well when it too was swallowed by the sea and lost forever all its works with the sole exception of the Tolkappiyam, a work on Tamil grammar. Following the inundation of Kavatapuram, the survivors once again relocated northward in a city identified with modern Madurai in Tamilnadu, then known as Vada-madurai (Northern Madurai).
3rd sangam:
The Third Sangam lasted for a period of 1850 years’
These numbers seem to imaginary from our stand point.
How wrong this is and the Proof that they were facts.
I have earlier written an article that the Star Canopus, called Agastya proves the date of Sanatana Dharma by cross referencing Agastya’s visit to the South and another one dealing how the earth’s Axial Tilt is proved by Canopus and Agastya.
Based on thi,s date of Agastya can be fixed around 4000 BC.
1. Agastya, is the author of 25 hymns (nos 166 to 190) of the first ‘mandala’ of the Rigveda.
2. Canopus, the second brightest star in the night sky, is called Agastya in India.
3. This star is close to the ecliptic south pole, having an ecliptic latitude of –76°.
4. As the celestial poles go round the ecliptic poles due to the phenomenon of precession of the earth’s axis of rotation, this star becomes visible from different latitudes on the globe at different times. If we assume that for a star to be visible at a place its altitude at the meridian passage should be at least 5°, then calculations give the visibility curve for Agastya (Canopus) as follows.
5. Agastya was not visible from any part of India before 10,000 BC.
6. First it became visible at Kanyakumari around that epoch. Thereafter, as it was brought more and more northwards by precession, it became visible at various places in India.
7. It became visible in the east coast (in the present Chennai region) in 8500 BC, and in the present day Hyderabad in 7200 BC, in the Vindhya region in 5200 BC, at Delhi in 3100 BC.
8. At present it is visible from most parts of India for longer or shorter durations. This cycle will repeat after every 25,765 years. It is thus clear that around 5000 BC, the star Agastya was visible from the south of the Vindhyas, but not from the north of it.
9. If sage Agastya was the first to cross the Vindhyas from the north, he would have been the first northerner to see the star. Hence the star has been named after him, just as the Magellanic clouds in the southern sky are named after the navigator Magellan, who first saw them as he sailed southwards.
10. This fixes an epoch of 5000 BC for sage Agastya. This date is based on the assumption that for a star to be visible its meridian altitude has to be at least 5°.
11. If we make 8° meridian altitude as the criterion for visibility, the date of Agastya would be shifted to about 4000 BC. The dates 5000 and 4000 BC should therefore bracket the probable epoch of Agastya crossing the Vindhyan mountains.
Sangams 1, 2 and 3 were patronized by 89, 59 and 49 Pandyan kings respectively.
The first Sangam was supposed to have been started by Agastya under instruction by Lord Shiva.
This was before Shiva left with Ganesha through the middle east to Arctic because of a Tsunami when Satyavrata Manu , the ancestor of Lord Rama left for Ayodhya.
The last Sangam ended sometime at the beginning of the Christian era.
197 kings ruled between these two dates.
If we assume a span of 20 years for each king on an average, we get a total period of about 4000 years, which would place Agastya’s epoch around 4000 BC, in agreement with the astronomical dating.
Thus Canopus verifies the Sangam and the Sangams stand by Canopus or Agastya.
Additional proof for the antiquity of Tamil and Agastya, Shiva please read my post on Poompuhaar where the artifact has been dated 17000 years back.
Hindu Puranas state that Sage Agastya was ordered by Lord Shiva to proceed to the South to rectify the balance of the Earth as it tilted down in the south because of the congregation of Devas and people of the earth in the North, Himalayas to attend His (Shiva’s) marriage with Parvati.
Accordingly Sage Agasthya traveled down from the North to the South and had the Earth’s balance restored.
Is this a fantasy?
Hinduism narrates events and philosophy in two ways.
One is stating facts as they are, if in its opinion we are capable of understanding it.
For example the details on Astrology or the events related to the Ithihasas, Ramayana, Mahabharata.
In other cases they allude to events by interesting legends, like saying that there is Chanda Loka(world of the Moon) to convey a stage of spiritual development in Pranayama.
It is interesting to note that these two technics are followed to denote the same event, as in the description of Sun’s Movement in His Chariot and the description of Vishnu’s Naval Galaxy.
The incident narrated above falls into Allegory , relating to formation of seasons.
This is validated by Milankovitch Cycles.
‘Axial tilt, the second of the three Milankovitch Cycles, is the inclination of the Earth’s axis in relation to its plane of orbit around the Sun. Oscillations in the degree of Earth’s axial tilt occur on a periodicity of 41,000 years from 21.5 to 24.5 degrees.
Axial Tilt .Milankovitch Cycles. periodicity of 41,000 years
Today the Earth’s axial tilt is about 23.5 degrees, which largely accounts for our seasons. Because of the periodic variations of this angle the severity of the Earth’s seasons changes. With less axial tilt the Sun’s solar radiation is more evenly distributed between winter and summer. However, less tilt also increases the difference in radiation receipts between the equatorial and polar regions.
One hypothesis for Earth’s reaction to a smaller degree of axial tilt is that it would promote the growth of ice sheets. This response would be due to a warmer winter, in which warmer air would be able to hold more moisture, and subsequently produce a greater amount of snowfall. In addition, summer temperatures would be cooler, resulting in less melting of the winter’s accumulation. At present, axial tilt is in the middle of its range.’
There is another legend relating to Agastya, which states that Agastya crossing over to the South and in the process made he Vindhya Mountain shorter.
I have written on this while writing on Canopus and stated that it coincides with the Migration of Manu from the South to Ayodhya.
Yet another states that Agastya drank Ocean( I shall be writing on this).
Axial Tilt.
Axial Tilt.To understand axial tilt, we employ the right-hand rule. When the fingers of the right hand are curled around in the direction of the planet’s rotation, the thumb points in the direction of the north pole. “Globespin-tilt-23.4” by Wikiscient, Tdadamemd – File:Globespin.gif – created using NASA’s “Visible Earth” image (in the public domain).. In astronomy, axial tilt (also called obliquity) is the angle between an object’s rotational axis and the perpendicular to its Orbital plane, both oriented by the right hand rule. At an obliquity of 0°, these lines point in the same direction i.e. the rotational axis is perpendicular to the orbital plane. Axial tilt differs from inclination. Because the planet Venus has an axial tilt of 177° its rotation can be considered retrograde, opposite that of most of the other planets. The north pole of Venus is “upside down” relative to its orbit. The planet Uranus has a tilt of 97°, hence it rotates “on its side”, its north pole being almost in the plane of its orbit.
To understand axial tilt, we employ the right-hand rule. When the fingers of the right hand are curled around in the direction of the planet’s rotation, the thumb points in the direction of the north pole. Righthand rule simple.png: “Right-hand grip rule” by Right_hand_rule_simple.png: Original uploader was Schorschi2 at de.wikipediaderivative work: Wizard191 (talk) – Right_hand_rule_simple.png. Over the course of an orbit, the angle of the axial tilt does not change, and the orientation of the axis remains the same relative to the background stars. This causes one pole to be directed toward the Sun on one side of the orbit, and the other pole on the other side, the cause of the seasons on the Earth.
The study of the epigraph found in Tamil Nadu give out a mine of information , not only of the Tamil Kings,Tamil Culture, but of the Sanatana dharma itself.
One of the oldest epigraphy found at Chinnamanur, Tamil Nadu , the epigraph speak of the deeds of the early Pandya Kings.
These Kings ruled between thrid Century BC to 1345.
They refer to the Pandyan Kings s having descended from the Lunar Dynasty.
Chinnamanur Pplates, Tamil Nadu speaks of Tamil kings and Sanatana Dharma.
* The image states , in Tamil, that the Pandya Kings /Poets conclave Tamil Sangam had established a separate shrine for the Poets in Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and the Mahabharata was translated in Tamil
They had two fishes as their emblem.
Of fighting with Indra,
Sage Agastya as their family Preceptor.
Lord Shiva ss their Family member,
Defeating Arjuna,
These copper plates are in two languages.
A Portion in Grantha Sanskrit and another Tamil’s earlier form Vattezuthu.
Brahmi script is also found.
‘These are two of the four sets of Pandya copper plate grants discovered so far and are herein published for the first time. The Velvikudi grant of Parantaka Nedunjadaiyan has been edited by me in the Epigraphia Indica, Vol. XVII, pp. 291 to 309 and the Madras Museum Plates of Jatilavarman, by the late Rai Bahadur V. Venkayya in the Indian Antiquary, Vol. XXII, pp. 57 to 75. These four, studied together, furnish a genealogy of the Pandyas from the early king Kadungon, who is said to have flourished at the close of the first Sangam of Tamil poets, down to Rajasimha-Pandya the contemporary of the Chola king Parantaka I, who reigned at the commencement of the 10th century A.D.
One of the Pandya kings is said to have occupied the throne of Indra (v. 4) and another to have shared it with that god, and still another, to have caused the Ten-Headed (i.e., Ravana of Lanka) to sue for peace (v. 5). One was a conqueror of the epic hero Arjuna (v. 7). Verse 8 refers to a king who cut off his own head in order to protect that of his master and also to a certain Sundara-Pandya who had mastered all the sciences. Many kings of this family had performed Vedic sacrifices Rajasuya andAsvamedha (v. 9)….
The Tamil portion which begins with line 76 also praises the Pandya kings who belonged to the lunar race and bore the crest of the double fish, had Agastya as their family preceptor and counted the god (Siva) as one of the their family members.
Other deeds.
(1) churning the ocean for nectar ;
(2) bathing in the waters of the four oceans in a single day ;

(11) leading elephants in the Bharata war against the Maharathas ;
(12) relieving Vijaya (Arjuna) from the curse of vasu ;..
13) engraving the victorious symbols of the fish, the tiger, and the bow on the top of the Northern mountain, i.e., the Himalayas ;
(14) getting huge giants to work for them in building many tanks ;
(15) cutting off the heads of two kings in the battles fought at Chitramayari and Talaiyalanganam ;
(16) getting the Mahabharata translated into Tamil ; and
(17) establishing the Tamil Sangam in the town of Madurai.
The three Pandya kings Perumbidugu Muttaraiyan alias Kuvavan Maran, his son Ilangovadiyaraiyan alias Maran Paramesvaran, and his son Perumbidugu Muttaraiyan alias Suvaran Maran mentioned in the Sendalai pillar inscriptions of about the 8th century A.D. do not appear in this genealogy. Theyevidently belonged to a subordinate branch of the family and were perhaps kings of the southern Tanjai country, ruling almost independently of the imperial Pandyas at Madras and sometimes fighting with them. See Ep. Ind., Vol. XIII, pp. 136 and 137.
[2] Spelt Chinnamanur in the Alphabetical list of villages in the Madras Presidency.
[8] Dr. Krishnaswami Ayyangar suggest, however, that Vilveli here may probably be synonymous with Pallava, since Tirumangai-alvar in his Periya-Tirumoli makes Villagan synonymous with Pallava. But it must be noted that Vilveli is different from Villavan.
Everything about Human migration started with Tsunami.
All world culture have reference to Tsunami or the Great Flood.
The migration began.
Ancient Tamil literaure speaks of three Tsunamis.
And the land mass had a different look from what we know of today.
We had two Super Continents Gondwana and Laurasia.
The landmass of India was connected most of Australia, Africa.
The legends and etymology of the cultures of the world point to Sanatana Dharma connection everywhere.
Now in this article we shall look into some of them relating New Zealand.
References to Manu, Adhitya and Agastya are found in the Maori tribes of New Zealand.
Agastya.
‘The Gamilaraay or Kamilaroi (see below for other spellings) language is a Pama–Nyungan language of the Wiradhuric subgroup found mostly in south-east Australia. It was the traditional language of the Kamilaroi people, but is now moribund—according toEthnologue, there were only 35 speakers left in 2006, all mixing Gamilaraay and English.[6] However, there are thousands of people of mixed descent both within the native populations as well as immigrant populations, who identify themselves as Kamilaroi. Kamilaroi is also taught in some Australian schools.
The meaning of Southern Cross in the language is “meeting place under the Southern Cross’ .
Crux/ˈkrʌks/, located in the deep southern sky, is the smallest yet one of the most distinctive of the 88 modern constellations. Its name is Latin for cross, and it is dominated by a cross-shaped asterism that is commonly known as the Southern Cross. Although visible to the Ancient Greeks, it was seen as part of the constellation Centaurus, and not defined or accurately mapped till the 16th century.
It is he Trishanku spoken of in Hinduism.
This star was used to point the South as the Pole Star was to identify the North by the Navigators.
The star Canopus which was used as a south polar star for ship navigation in the southern hemisphere, was named for Agastya Kumbhaja. That Kumbhaja star rises in March near the Southern Cross as the Indian Ocean becomes
calm before the monsoon trade winds begin blowing from India towards Asia. Agastya also means “from the mind of Indra and Shiva”. 2500 years ago, Agastya Kumbhaja was the uncle of Kaundinya in Tamil Nadu, and a Kaundinya prince ruled the first Hindu kingdom in Cambodia, 2000 years ago. Australia has names and legends of the Southern Cross, and Gamilari language has a word meaning “meeting place under the Southern Cross’. The South Pole is on the axis of Meru. Coombadjha is sacred to Bundjalung and Gambaingirr people.
I have posted an article as to how the Star Canopus validates the Puaranas and Tamil lterature.
Maori tribes have several names for Agastya/Canopus star:
Ariki= High born (one of the seven virtues of sages is high birth)
Atutahi, Aotahi = all these are corrupted form of AGATHI (ya)
Tapu = Tapas (penance).
Food is offered to the star as offering. This shows the respect and worship of Maoris.
One mythology says that Atutahi was left out of the basket when Tane wove it. This is a Hindu story where he was known to be born out of a pot (basket). Agastya is called Kumbha muni, Kalasi Suta, Ghatodbhava and Kumbha sambhava all meaning pot born or basket born. Atutahi sounds Agathi.
The Southern Cross Star.
It is interesting to compare the veneration, worship, food offering and star status with that of the Hindu Agastya. Hindus also has his name in Sraddha mantra ( ancestor worship). Sanskrit saying praises him as the patron saint of the sailors:
Agastya In New Zealand.
Agastyodaye jalani prasidanti = when the star Agastya rises, the waters become calm.
Manu.
Now, interestingly, our history states that around 1000AD, a “new wave” of Polynesian peoples arrived in New Zealand (Maoris), speaking the Malayo-Polynesian tongues. Coincidence they arrived the same time as the Tamil Navigators here?
It is more plausible, since this is about the time of the great Sailendra Dynasty, that these Maori peoples speaking related languages to the Indonesians etc. of S. E. Asia, were distributed throughout the Pacific by Tamil traders and Ships, that arrived in New Zealand.
The sacred Maori serpent and water-monster is the Taniwha (pron. ‘Tani-pha’). New Zealand has no serpents, showing it is an imported myth, and these people have some kind of serpent-worship ancestory. We note that In Vedic Dharma, Twashtar is the Creator-God who was father of the Serpent-King Vritra. Perhaps this is who they trace their ancestory from.
The Maori tale states Maui (counterpart of Manu) pulled New Zealand out of the sea in the form of a Fish – relating to the Vedic tale of Manu and the fish, Matsya, who saved him. Maori, hence, also trace back to Manu Satyavrata – linking them, once again to Vedic mythology and Asia.
The Supreme of Maori society was known as “Ariki”, which meant Chief, Leader or Priest. It can hence be related to the term for Vedic Kshatriyas (warriors) and Brahmins (priests) – ‘Arya’ or Aryan, which denoted a noble – a common term used to denote the great Vedic peoples.
The Indonesian Malayo-Polynesian languages’ Indic shades are hence also found in the Polynesian branch, showing a direct link with India – and again supporting the view that maoris came across from these lands during the Sailendra reign, as migrants on Tamil ships.
The Maori word for the Sun is “Ra” – which is very close to ancient Egyptian and the Sanskrit Solar God-King Rama – of renown fame throughout Indonesia and other S. E. Asian lands through Ramayana. His triumph over the Rakshasas of Lanka who ruled S. E. Asian lands and freed them, is well-known. Ramayana mentions Yavadvipa (Java, Indonesia).
This, again, connects Maoris even closer with the Vedic culture of S. E. Asia and suggests the earlier Moriori were also an Indic peoples of this clan. For, how did the Tamils get here at the same time as Maori otherwise? New Zealand hence, must have been known.
Adhitya.
The Maori term for “God” or deity is “Atua” – close to the Vedic “Aditya” – meaning Luminary or Sun-God. It is also cognate to Deva or God in the Rig Veda, showing such Vedic ties, also.
In dress and architecture, the Maori resemble the Naga peoples of Eastern India and S. E. Asia and those of the Americas – hence forming one of the many Naga peoples. We note of the Nahuatl language in the Americas and the ancient King Nahush of ancient India – who became demonic and was cursed to become a Naga (serpent) by the Sage Agastya (who is associated with teaching in Southern India, Sri Lanka and S. E Asia).
The Maori also share the S. Indian flood tales, associated with Agastya. According to Bhagavata – Manu Satyavrata was a Dravida (S.Indian) King that sailed into Himalayas after the last flood, along with the Rishis. Dravida lands include Gujerat and Tamil Nadu – where ancient Kingdoms, some 7000 years old have recently been found under the waters.
The Legend of Maui fishing up Aotearoa
Whilst out fishing with his brothers in a canoe, Maui hauls a magnificent fish-land out of the sea which he caught on a hook made from the jaw bone of his sorcerer grandmother. The fish-land is complete with houses and birds.
Maui is worried what the Gods will think about what he’s done so he leaves his brothers to seek forgiveness.
His brothers argue over possession of the fish and their ensuing struggle leaves marks from their weapons on the face of the fish. These marks are the valleys and mountains of New Zealand.
The fish-land ‘Te ikaroa a Maui’ becomes the North Island the hook or ‘Te matau a Maui’ is Mahia peninsula in the Hawkes Bay. The canoe they brothers were fishing in ‘Te waka a Maui’ is now the South Island and the anchor holding the boat ‘Te punga a Maui’ is Stewart Island.
Taranga was the name of Maui’s mother, when he was born (the fifth son) she thought he was stillborn and so wrapped him in her tikitiki (hair-knot) and threw him into the sea. Maui was saved from the sea by his tupuna (ancestor) whom he learned magic from as he grew up.
